SOLANYK:
George Solanyk of Boulder. Funeral services 1 p.m. Friday, June 18 at Viegut Funeral Home. Interment Loveland Burial Park. Memorials to the Disabled American Veterans in care of the Viegut Funeral Home. Viewing will be Friday prior to and after the services.
George Solanyk, 46, of Boulder died June 15, 2004, in Boulder.
He was born April 15, 1958, in Newark, N.J., to Victor and Claudia Kryworuchko Solanyk. He moved to Boulder in 1966 and attended schools in the Boulder area.
Mr. Solanyk worked as a photographer. He had been in the U.S. Army and was a photographer at West Point.
He loved reading and photography.
He is survived by his
parents, Victor Sr. and Claudia Solanyk of Boulder; nephews Steve, Andrew, Eric, Darren and Chad Sol-anyk; niece Sarah Solanyk; and brother Victor Solanyk Jr. and wife Gina of Loveland.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Igor Solanyk.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Viegut Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Davidson officiating.
Burial will be at Loveland Burial Park.
Memorial contributions can be made to Disabled American Veterans in care of Viegut Funeral Home, 1440 N. Boise, Loveland, 80538.

VANDERWEGE:
Louise Elizabeth VanDerWege, 95, of Loveland died June 17, 2004.
She was born Oct. 17, 1908, in Athol, Kan., to John and Ottillie Mann Badenhoop. She was baptized at Kensington, Kan., on Nov. 23, 1908, and received confirmation Aug. 19, 1923.
She received her early education in a country school near her home. She graduated from Athol High School in 1926. After high school, she passed the examination to qualify for a teachers’ certificate and taught five years in public schools in Kansas. She also taught in parochial schools in Brighton and Hudson.
She married Oliver VanDerWege on May 3, 1931, in Hays, Kan. They had four children: three daughters and one son. They were married 68 years and spent 27 years on a farm near Brighton. They retired in Loveland in 1972.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Loveland.
She is survived by a son, Charles and wife Toni of San Jose, Calif.; three daughters, Carol Hanne and husband Don of Morgan Hill, Calif., Cleo Linstrom and husband Harry of Northglenn, and Carla Albert and husband Orlie of San Jose; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
A graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 100 E. County Road 30, Fort Collins.
Arrangements are being handled by Resthaven Funeral Home, 667-0202.

VELASQUEZ:
Mary Josephine Velasquez of Loveland. Widow of Vincent Paul Velasquez Sr. Recitation of the rosary 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 18, St. John’s Catholic Church. Celebration of the Mass immediately following at 10 a.m., the Rev. Joseph Hartmann, celebrant. Interment Loveland Burial Park. Private family viewing.
Mary Josephine Velasquez, 82, of Loveland died June 15, 2004, at her home.
She was born June 10, 1922, in Abbott, N.M., to Leandro and Teresa de Jesus Avila Aguilar. She moved to Johnstown as a young girl.
She married Vincent Paul Velasquez Sr. on Aug. 11, 1939, in Loveland. He preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1967.
She has lived in Johnstown, Berthoud and Loveland most of her life.
She was a parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church in Loveland and had served as president of the Los Ancianos Unidos Senior Citizen Group in Loveland for three years. She was very strong in her faith.
She enjoyed canning, cooking, sewing, dancing and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Julia (Conce) Gonzales of Loveland, Vince (Isabel) Velasquez and Martha (Dave) Valencia, all of Greeley, Salvador (Trish) Velasquez of Eaton, Sandra (Felix) Trinidad of Brighton, Sylvia (Aaron) Lukenbach of Windsor, David Velasquez of Denver, Stephanie Velasquez and Jose Castillo, Paul Velasquez, and Jackie (Doug) Hodge, all of Loveland; brothers, Francis Vargas and Benito Aguilar, both of Loveland; 50 grandchildren; 104 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons Joseph Steven Velasquez and Robert Francis Velasquez; a daughter, Victoria Aurora Wetzler; a brother, Juan Aguilar; a granddaughter, Yvonne Michelle Velasquez; a half-brother and a half-sister.
Private viewing will be for the immediate family.
Recitation of the rosary will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church, 1730 W. 12th St., Loveland.
Celebration of the Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Hartmann, celebrant.
Burial will be in Loveland Burial Park.
Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WACKER:
Wilma Lorraine Wacker, 81, of Denver, formerly of Loveland, died June 13, 2004, at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver.
She was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Tribune, Kan., to Bertrand and Mildred Hougland. She moved to Loveland in 1935. She and her husband, James E. Wacker, both graduated from Loveland High School in 1940.
They moved to Denver in 1941, where they lived for more than 60 years. She retired from Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co.
She was a long-standing member of Park Hill United Methodist Church, assisting in the church library and serving on various committees. She was co-founder of St. Joseph Hospital’s CanSurmount and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, James E. Wacker; a son, David P. Wacker and wife Katherine of Iowa City, Iowa; a daughter, Sharon L. Voightmann and husband George of Greeley; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Private services are pending.
Donations can be made to the Park Hill Methodist Choir Fund, 5209 Montview Blvd., Denver, 80207.
All-States Cremation of Aurora is in charge of arrangements.

BRIGGS:
Jean L. Briggs of Johnstown, formerly of Loveland. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services 2 p.m. Friday, June 25 at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Jean L. Briggs, 64, of Johnstown and formerly of Loveland, died June 22, 2004, at Kenton Manor in Greeley.
She was born Dec. 23, 1939, in Loveland to William E. March and Diola (Rice) March. She attended Loveland schools.
She married Charles W. Briggs on March 7, 1987, in Loveland.
Mrs. Briggs was a homemaker. She moved to Johnstown from Loveland in 1999.
She was of the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, golfing, playing bingo and especially dancing.
She is survived by her husband, Charles W. Briggs of Johnstown; sons Darryl Riter and wife Heidi of Wisconsin, Charles A. Briggs of Sterling, Gary D. Briggs of Fort Collins, and Brandon S. Briggs of Greeley; daughters Julie Riter-Stylski of Loveland, Darla Riter of Loveland, and Sharon Riter of Alabama; brothers Jay W. March and wife Dorthyan of Loveland and Keith March of Portland, Ore.; sister Esther J. Moore and husband Glenn “Mick” of Loveland; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters.
Cremation has been completed. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memory Gardens, the Rev. Melbern Goetz of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.
Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home and Crematory handled arrangements.

CAGLE:
Elizabeth Ann Cagle, 78, formerly of Loveland, died June 20, 2004.
She was born Dec. 15, 1925, in Mississippi and lived in Memphis, Tenn., in her early years.
She served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1965, stationed in Colorado Springs and Germany. She lived in Loveland from 1980 to 2003. She worked for Hewlett-Packard for many years in Fort Collins and Colorado Springs.
No services are planned.

CHAPPELL:
Mary Nanne Chappell, 83, of Loveland, died June 14, 2004, at her home.
Cremation was conducted.
Private memorial services were held June 16, 2004, at Viegut Funeral Home. The Rev. John Turnage, of the First Baptist Church, officiated.
She was born March 17, 1921, in Elida, N.M., to Oliver D. and Clara A. Radcliffe Lambirth. She graduated from Elida High School and received an associate’s degree from Porales Junior College. She graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., with a bachelor’s degree in English and music (voice, piano and cello.) She taught music and English during World War II.
She married Charles Chappell on Dec. 12, 1945.
She moved to the Big Thompson Canyon in 1954 from the New Mexico area. She lived there for 50 years.
She and her husband owned and managed the Montrose Hotel, store and gas station in the canyon until the flood in 1976.
She started playing the piano at the age of 5 in the Baptist Church. She played and sang in the Methodist Church while her husband was the minister in the Methodist faith in Nebraska.
The Chappell family joined the Baptist Church in 1954. She was a strong Christian all of her life.
She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, gardening, roses, reading, watching birds and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed being with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 581/2 years, Charles Chappell of Loveland; three daughters, Elizabeth Anne Chappell-Moffett of Pueblo West, Clara Louise Martin of Fort Collins, and Nanci Marie Tobin of Loveland; three grandchildren.
Contributions may be made to the Mary N. Chappell Memorial Fund in care of Clara Martin, 2236 Clydesdale, Fort Collins, CO 80526.
Viegut Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

CHITWOOD:
Dorothy Chitwood of Loveland. Memorial services 11 a.m. Saturday at the Buckhorn Presbyterian Church. Cremation has taken place.
Dorothy Louise Kimzey Chitwood, 77, of Loveland died June 13, 2004, at her home.
She was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Torrington, Wyo., to Herschal and Gladys (Eaton) Kimzey. She grew up on the Kimzey farm near Veteran, Wyo., and graduated from Veteran High School in 1945. She attended Central Business College in Denver.
While working in Denver she met and married Gene Chitwood in January 1947. The couple lived in Kersey, Evans, Masonville and Loveland.
Mrs. Chitwood played the violin in her youth.
She was active in the 4-H program and was involved in community and school organizations. She spent many hours crocheting afghans, toys and other items.
For many years she was Sunday school superintendent at the Buckhorn Presbyterian Church and counselor and staff member at Highlands Camp. She volunteered for years as an assistant teacher at the Loveland Head Start. She loved plants and seemed to have a green thumb.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was active in the Presbyterian Women’s organization. She enjoyed teaching Bible classes.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; son Glen Chitwood of Fort Collins; daughters Peggy Chitwood of Loveland, Pat and husband Eric Ross of Loveland and Louise and husband Joe Sanford of Denver; brothers Frank Kimzey and wife Ann of Palm Desert, Calif., Ralph Kimzey and wife Mary of Kimball, Neb.; sisters Gertrude and husband Jack Sedman of Torrington and Ruth and husband Ken Payne of Albuquerque, N.M.; and three grandsons.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Buckhorn Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Jim Vincent officiating. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be scattered at Highlands Presbyterian Camp, where she enjoyed being the camp cook.
Viegut Funeral Home handled the cremation and other arrangements.

CROWLEY:
Patrick J. Crowley, 80, of Delmar, Iowa, Hall Of Fame member of the National Bit, Spur and Saddle Collectors Association, was buried on Tuesday, June 15, 2004. Crowley was one of the original members of the NBSSCA, which has its annual meeting this weekend in Loveland.

HENRY:
Elsie L. Henry, 84, of Craig, formerly of Loveland, died June 21, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Craig.
She was born Dec. 26, 1919, in New Raymer, to Leve E. Workman and Lily May Ducker Workman. She married Roy W. Henry on Sept. 1, 1945, in Enid, Okla. He preceded her in death. She was a homemaker.
She moved to Craig in 2000 from Loveland.
She enjoyed being with her family, the outdoors and the beauty of the mountains.
She is survived by a son, Richard L. Henry of Henderson, Nev.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd Workman and Clyde Workman, one sister, Edith Snowden, and one great-grandson.
Cremation has been conducted.
There are no services scheduled.
Burial will be in Foothills Garden of Memory in Longmont.
Grant Mortuary in Craig is in charge of arrangements.

PFEIF:
Olinda Pfeif, 79, of Johnstown, formerly of Loveland, died June 19, 2004, at Hospice and Palliative Care Inpatient Unit in Greeley.
She was born July 16, 1924, in Merino, to Jacob and Amelia (Maier) Zwetzig. She moved to Lead, S.D., when she was 2 years old. She grew up in Lead and helped on the family farm there. She married Albert Adler in 1941 in South Dakota. They lived in Manderson, Wyo. She moved to Sterling, and later to Loveland, while her husband served during World War II. He was killed in action in 1943 in the Philippines.
She later met and married Joseph Pfeif on Sept. 21, 1946, in Loveland. They moved to a farm near Johnstown in 1950. They farmed there until they retired in January 1981, and moved into Johnstown. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1985.
Mrs. Pfeif was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church of Johnstown.
She loved to take pictures, often giving the photos to those she photographed. She also enjoyed shopping, flowers and her flower gardens. She was a caring person and shared with anyone who needed help. Above all, though, she loved time spent with her family.
She is survived by a son, Glenn Pfeif and wife Mary of Johnstown; two daughters, Sharon Stratton and husband Don of Longmont, and Donna Campbell of Denver; daughter-in-law, Cathy Pfeif of Syracuse, N.Y.; a brother, Vic Zwetzig of Sturgis, S.D.; a sister, Frieda Fischer of Lodi, Calif.; a stepbrother, Jake Haffner of Belle Fourche, S.D.; stepsisters, Mary Zitterkopf of Bayard, Neb., and Frieda Schwaub of Belle Fourche; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Albert Pfeif, and brothers, Rudolph, Harold, and Jack Zwetzig.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Adamson Memorial West Chapel in Greeley.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Faith Lutheran Church Of Johnstown, 1011 W. South First.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inc. or Faith Lutheran Church Of Johnstown, both in care of Adamson Memorial West Chapel, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, 80634.
