Joyce Arlene Ross left us Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, to return home to God to be reunited with her parents.
Joyce was born on March 4, 1936, to Charlie and Kathryn Ross in Cheyenne, Wyo.
Joyce was a caring mother to four children and three stepchildren. She enjoyed reading and visiting with family and friends and was a proud grandmother to three boys and one girl.
She had been in failing health for the better half of the year and cherished her final days with her family. Joyce entered the kingdom of God at peace, surrounded by love.
Her family, Carolina Garcia, Barbara Peterson, Peter Garcia and wife Sandy and Leslie Duchene and husband Spencer, stepchildren nKathryn Joy and Diana Mininger, would like to thank the staff at McKee Medical Center and Hospice of Larimer County; their caring and professionalism made this difficult time more bearable.
Her grandchildren, Cameron Garcia, Travis and Gwynne Duchene and Paul Peterson, who were blessed to have as much time with Grandma, though short, before her health began to fail, will always remember the love she had for each one of them.
She also leaves a brother, Wayne, of Anderson, Nev., and his wife Sue.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Charlie and Kathryn, her former husband, Pete A. Garcia, and stepson, John Garcia.

Dale H. Schaal, 81, of Berthoud, died Sept. 17, 2004, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
He was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Longmont, to Newton Harvey Schaal and Etta Esther (Illian) Schaal. He attended Woodman School in north Colorado Springs and then attended Colorado Springs High School. He married Barbara Oleta Sanders Aug. 24, 1945.
He worked as a farmer all of his life and with his two brothers had a precision machine shop business on their farm east of Berthoud.
He moved to Berthoud in December 1946 from Colorado Springs.
He was currently serving as president of the Rockwell Ditch Co., was past board member of the Loveland Lake and Ditch Co., member of Thompson Water Users Association, the Big Thompson Soil Conservation District and the Colorado Farm Bureau.
He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Berthoud and the Monday Men’s Fellowship through his church. He served on the Whipple School Board and on the Berthoud Consolidated School District Board.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading and writing poetry. He loved to learn. He enjoyed designing and building machinery and gardening. His life was centered around his family.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Schaal of Berthoud; a son, David Schaal and wife Tammy of Berthoud; two daughters, Linda Schmalzried and husband Bob of Lexington, Neb., and Jana Smith and husband Dale of Laramie, Wyo.; two brothers, Max Schaal and wife Frances of Berthoud, and Jack Schaal and wife Dola of Buffalo, Wyo.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Averitt.
Viewing will be from 3 p.m. to 7 tonight at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home in Loveland.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 531 Eighth St. in Berthoud. The Rev. Vickie Kintzel will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud.

SEILBACK:

Esther E. Seilback, 86, of Loveland died Sept. 19, 2004, at McKee Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 22, 1917, in Ouray, Colo., to Ernesto and Erminia Rossi. She graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1936. She married Reuben Seilback April 28, 1939, in Kimball, Neb.
Mrs. Seilback owned Seilback Agency with her husband Reuben for 28 years. They sold the agency to the Reidman Corp. in 1972.
She was an avid bridge player and loved to go to Las Vegas and Central City. She loved to cook, watch the skiers and boaters on Lake Loveland, and spend time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved entertaining friends and meeting new ones. She also overcame several illnesses in her life.
She is survived by children Jeff Seilback and wife Gayle of Dix Hills, N.Y., S.R. Seilback and wife Susan of Gulph Mills, Pa., and Kathy Sanner of Fort Collins; grandchildren Melissa Dalrymple and husband Jason, Kristi Giltinan and husband Ben, Nicole Armentrout, Craig Sanner, Jordan Seilback, Michael Seilback, Darren Seilback, and Matt Seilback; and great-grandchildren Dillon Moeck, Alexa Dalrymple and Colby Giltinan. She is also survived by special friends Sharon Zappee, Lisa Neuberger, Ron Frink, Rip Schultz, and her four-legged friend Chuck.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben, and her brothers and sisters.
Private graveside services will be held at Loveland Burial Park.
Arrangements were handled by Viegut Funeral Home.
SMITH:
Marissa Mae Faith Smith, infant daughter of Angela Rodriquez and Russell Smith of Loveland, died on the day of her birth, Sept. 21, 2004.
She is survived by her parents, Angela Rodriquez and Russell Smith of Loveland; her grandparents, Phillip and Gloria Ann Rodarte; uncle Nick Rebeterano, aunt and uncle Steve and Kim Smith; great-grandmother Alicia Lopez; and a cousin, Trey Rebeterano, all of Loveland.
She was preceded in death by a grandmother, Edna Mae Smith.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memory Gardens north of Loveland.
Resthaven Funeral Home, 100 E. County Road 30, Fort Collins, is in charge of arrangements.
STEINDORF:
Ruth Steindorf, 80, of Rio Rancho, N.M., formerly of Loveland, died Dec. 12, 2003, in Rio Rancho.
Cremation was conducted.
Memorial services will be at noon, Sunday, Sept. 26, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 3448 N. Taft Ave., Loveland.
Inurnment will be at All Saints Episcopal Church Columbarium.
She is survived by two daughters, Marian Bolton of Albuquerque, N.M., and Holly Bergstrom of Medina, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell.

VANCE:

Alma Waseca (Simpson) Vance, 88, of Loveland died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Good Samaritan Village in Loveland.
She was born May 26, 1916, to Robert William Simpson and Nellie Leeper Simpson in their home near Auburn, Neb.
She married Reginald L. Vance on May 25, 1944, in Hiawatha, Kan.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics and elementary education from Peru State Teachers College in Peru, Neb.
Mrs. Vance taught in rural schools in Nemaha County, Neb., city schools in Fullerton, Merna and Lexington, Neb., and in Loveland. She retired after a 45-year career in teaching.
She moved to Loveland in 1962 from Lexington, Neb.
She was a member of United Methodist Women’s Club, a 50-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society (a teachers organization), state and national teachers associations and the auxiliaries for the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. She also served two years as president of Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha Nu, and seven years as treasurer.
She attended First United Methodist Church in Loveland. Mrs. Vance also enjoyed embroidery and crocheting. She loved to travel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Vance, on March 8, 1992, in Loveland; two brothers, Leland R. Simpson and Albert H. Simpson, both of Auburn.
She was survived by four nieces, Shirley Mertes and husband Larry of Windsor, Mary Jarvis and husband Terry of Auburn, Pat Ramold and husband Don of Nebraska City, Neb., and Sharon Wachter of Warrenton, Ga.; and two nephews, Ralph Simpson and wife Isabella of Englewood, and Albert Simpson Jr. and wife Rita of Auburn.
Viewing will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Chapel, 1102 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Good Samaritan Village Spiritual Life Center, 2101 S. Garfield Ave. in Loveland, with the Rev. George Huber, chaplain of Good Samaritan Village, presiding.
Mrs. Vance will be buried in Sheridan Cemetery in Auburn.

ARBUCKLE:
Phillip Arbuckle of Loveland. Memorial service 1 p.m. Friday, October 8 at St. Batholomew Episcopal Church in Estes Park. Arrangements with Allnutt-Hunter Chapel.
Philip Arbuckle, a resident of Loveland since 1999 and a former resident of Estes Park, died Oct. 2, 2004. He was 92 years old.
Mr. Arbuckle was born in 1912 in Newark, N.J. He attended New York University and married Florence Hinton on June 8, 1940, in Broomfield, N.J. He had been a resident of both New Jersey and New York before moving to Colorado. Philip and Florence wintered in Green Valley, Ariz., for 20 years.
During World War II, he built airplane engines for Wright Aero in Patterson, N.J., and later for General Electric.
After World War II, he and Florence moved to Schenectady, N.Y., where he worked on jet engines. In 1953 he went to work for Martin Marietta and worked there for 22 years until his retirement in 1973. He worked as an engineer on Titan I and Titan II missiles.
Philip’s greatest career accomplishment was to participate in the early stages of the space program and to collaborate with NASA engineers.
He was a member of St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church in Estes Park and a member of All Saints’ Episcopal church in Loveland.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his son, Don Arbuckle of Denver; daughters Laurie Kearns of Denver and Perry Park, Colo., and Elaine Downing of Boulder; sisters Helen Richards of San Diego, Calif., and Edythe Wadsten of Bonita Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church in Estes Park.

CLARK:

Gerald D. “Jerry” Clark, 82, of Loveland died Oct. 5, 2004, at a local nursing home.
He was born Nov. 13, 1921, in Rochester, Mich., to Gale and Florence Kunzi Clark. He married Laura V. Buell on March 21, 1942, in Rochester.
In his early working years, he was a carpenter before entering the plastic injection molding industry. He worked for Teledyne for 17 years before his retirement in 1986.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 7, 1945.
He moved to Loveland in 1971 from Rochester.
He was a former Elks Club member. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, woodworking, football, baseball and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Laura V. Clark of Loveland; a son, Richard A. Clark of Loveland; two daughters, Pamela J. Butcher and husband Bob of Yuma, Ariz., and Valerie A. Cooley of Loveland; two brothers, Frank Clark and wife Marge of Marine City, Mich., and Ron Clark and wife Jeanette of Luzerne, Mich.; two sisters, Norma Duke of Shelbyville, Tenn., and Elsie McGorman-Larsen and husband Cliff of Englewood, Fla.; grandchildren, Kellie Mein of Milliken, Carmen Mein and Jessi Clark, both of Loveland, Jane Cole and Bill Clark, both of Texas, Doug Clark of California, Brian Butcher and Rob Butcher, both of Arizona, Kris Trojan of South Carolina, and Barb Turkal of Japan; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald R. Clark, and brothers, Bernard Clark, Donald Clark and Robert Clark.
Cremation has been conducted.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at the First Baptist Church, 1003 W. Sixth St., Loveland. The Rev. John Turnage will officiate.

DESEN:

Raymond Desen, 68, of Loveland and formerly of Aurora for 33 years, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in Loveland.
He was born Dec. 29, 1935, to George and Edna L. Koch Desen in Culbertson, Neb.
Mr. Desen married Dixie Crawford on Dec. 21, 1968, in Broomfield, Colo. They became residents of Loveland in September 2002.
He was employed with Colorado Kenworth many years before going to Freightliner and JC Trucking.
Ray loved sports, was an avid football fan and loved working in his garden with flowers. He took pride in having the best lawn on the block. He also enjoyed woodworking and traveling with Dixie.
Preceded in death by his father, he is survived by his wife, Dixie; mother, Edna Koch of Loveland; two sons, Darwin Desen and wife Linda of Lewisville, Texas, and Jeff Desen and wife Robbie of Centennial, Colo.; a daughter, Therresa Desen of Everett, Wash.; sisters Ann Drew of Loveland and Virginia Bedore of McCook, Neb.; and six grandchildren, Tiajh Kirven, Jake Bowe, Jeremiah Desen, Andrew Desen, Tyler Desen and Ryan Desen.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Allnutt Hunter Chapel.

Esther Carolina Geist of Loveland died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004.
She was born Sept. 29, 1922, in St. Francis, Kan., to Fred W. and Frieda A. Bier Richers. She moved to Loveland in 1937, and on June 20, 1941, she married Harold A. Geist.
Esther loved the Lord and going to church. She enjoyed time with her family and loved being at the farm. Esther also enjoyed gardening and raising calves and chickens. She baby-sat her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She held her family very close to her heart and never met anyone she didn’t like. Everyone who knew her loved her.
Esther had been a three-year resident of Sierra Vista Health Care Center.
Preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Geist; a daughter, Ilene Marie Geist; brothers, LeeRoy Richers and Ray Richers; she is survived by her sons, Larry A. Geist of Milliken, Floyd D. Geist and wife Posie of Greeley, and Ivan L. Geist of Wiggins; sisters, Lourine K. Hahlweg and husband Ray of Fort Morgan, and Ruth Harl of Northglenn; sister-in-law, Betty Richers of Longmont; ex-sister-in-law, Ann Richers of Northglenn; ex-daughter-in-law, Liz Geist of Greeley; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9:30-10 a.m. Monday. Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Allnutt-Hunter Chapel with burial in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
