Rosemary Agnes Jensen

Rosemary Agnes Jensen of Lafayette died on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at Avista Adventis Hospital in Louisville, Colorado.

She was 83 years old.

Mrs. Jensen was born Sept. 27, 1921, in Detroit to William and Alice Welch. After growing up in Ohio, she returned to Detroit and joined the U.S. Marine Corps on April 27, 1944. She served as a Corporal in the USMC Womens Reserves in San Francisco until April 5, 1946.

While stationed there, she met and married Frances E. Jensen on March 19, 1946.

They moved to Colorado eventually settling in Idaho Springs. In 1987, she moved to Lafayette.

She loved to read, follow all sports, play the slot machines and amaze all that knew her with her keen mind and fabulous memory.

Mrs. Jensen is survived by her sons, Kim Jensen of Leadville, and Mark Jensen of Lafayette; her daughter, Lori Simons of Superior; her five grandchildren, Shauna, Shamane, Luke, Ashley and Max; and her sister, Alice Neumann.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frances E. Jensen; her daughter, Mary Jensen; and, her brother James Welch.

Services took place at noon, Monday, April 4, 2005, at Crown Hill Chapel of Peace, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Denver.

A private interment will follow at the Fort Logan Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of your choice.

Kimberly Ann Garcia

Kimberly Ann Garcia of Commerce City died on Friday, April 15, 2005.

She was 50 years old.

Mrs. Garcia was born on Jan. 15, 1955 in Aurora.

She married George P. Garcia on March 3, 1973, in Louisville.

They made their home in Louisville for many years before moving to Commerce City.

She worked as a cook at the Blue Parrot restaurant for many years during that time. She helped raise her grand children and enjoyed watching the cooking channel so she could try new recipes.

Mrs. Garcia is survived by her husband, George P. Garcia of Commerce City; her daughters, Tracy (Jeffery) Rush of Commerce City, and Dana Garcia of Commerce City; her mother, Phyllis (Steve) D’Andrea of Henderson, Nev.; her sister, Tami Nickell of Washington; and, her grandchildren, Cherey-Jo Patrick, Timmothy-Jeorge Patrick and Kodie Garcia.

Bruce R. Savage
Bruce R. Savage of Longmont died Friday, March 11, 2005.

He was 65 years old.

Mr. Savage was born April 15, 1939, to Ward Franklin Savage and Ethyland Brown in Salt Lake City.

On Aug. 1, 1963, he married Ilene Call in Salt Lake City.

Mr. Savage grew up in Animong, Utah. He graduated from Piute High School and earned a masters degree in electrical engineering from Utah State University.

Mr. Savage served his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand from 1959-1961.

He moved to Boulder in 1969, to Louisville in 1979, and to Longmont in 2004.

He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1965-1967.

While in Colorado, Mr. Savage served as a bishop for the LDS church three times in Boulder and Louisville. He also was a stake president for the Boulder Stake.

Mr. Savage worked as an electrical engineer for Bell Labs and AT&T in Broomfield and Denver. He retired in 1996.

He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and gardening.

Mr. Savage is survived by his wife Ilene Savage of Longmont; his sons, Mark (Kristen) Savage of Superior and Paul (Ashley) Savage of Longmont; his daughters, Teri Lyn (Scott) Kolb of Webb City, Mo., Suzanne Savage of Lafayette, and Sharon (Sam) Davis of Longmont; his brothers, Frank Savage of Spanish Fork, Utah, Bill Savage of Richfield, Utah, and Jerry Savage of Cedar City, Utah; and, his grandchildren, Andrew, Garrett Kolb, Quinten Kolb, Caroline Kolb, Anson Savage, Levi Savage and Jefferson Savage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Ethyland Savage.

Visitations are scheduled for 6 p.m., Friday, March 18, and 8:30 a.m., Saturday, March 19, at the Louisville Stake Center, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 701 South Boulder Road, Louisville.

A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., also at the Louisville Stake Center. Bishop Dale Cox will officiate.

Interment will take place at the Louisville Cemetery.

Michael Fuqua

Michael Fuqua of Erie died on Friday, March 4, 2005, in Erie. He was 33 years old. Mr. Fuqua was born on May 13, 1972, to Stephen and Kay Fuqua in Boulder. He married Kerri L. Monroe in Lafayette. Mr. Fuqua is survived by his wife Kerri Fuqua; his sons, Michael and Jacob Fuqua; his daughter, Amber Fuqua; his parents, Michael and Kay Fuqua; and, his siblings, Lenore, James, and Dwayne, all of Erie. Services took place on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette. Darrell Howe Mortuary of Lafayette handled the arrangements.

Barbara Jean Roberts

Barbara Jean Roberts of Broomfield died on Sunday, March 6, 2005, in Louisville. She was 56 years old. Mrs. Roberts was born on Dec. 16, 1948, to Edward Vincent Arroyas and Evangeline Duran Arroyas in Boulder. In September 1972, she married William Monroe Roberts in Boulder. Mrs. Roberts resided in Louisville from 1948-1970; Fort Collins from 1970-1981; Lafayette from 1981-1994; and, Broomfield from 1994-2005. Mrs. Roberts worked for the federal government for 39 years. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, her cats, and her family. Mrs. Roberts is survived by her daughters, Alison Jean Roberts-Marshall, Jessica Evangeline Roberts, Kellee June Bennell, Christine Cecilia Nava-Roberts, and Stephanie Renee Roberts, all of Broomfield; her mother, Evangeline Arroyas of Louisville; her sisters, Sharon Lee Maes of Louisville, and Kathleen Lopez of Longmont; and, one grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Monroe Roberts; her father, Edward Vincent Arroyas; and, her brother, Edward A. Arroyas. A visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, at the Darrell Howe Mortuary Chapel, 1701 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette. A service will take place at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 10, at the St. Louis Catholic Church, 902 Grant Ave., Louisville. Father Henri Tshibambe will officiate. Interment will take place at the Louisville Cemetery. Darrell Howe Mortuary of Lafayette is handling the arrangements.

David Cedric Alquist

David Cedric Alquist of Boulder died on Thursday, March 24, 2005.

He was 65 years old.

Mr. Alquist was born April 17, 1939, in Midland Mich., to Dr. Francis Nelson Alquist and Berenice P. Rucker.

Mr. Alquist attended Albion College and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1962. He also attended the University of North Carolina.

He worked as a landscape gardener at Nuzum Nursery. He owned Landscape Services S.P. of Boulder since 1982.

He was a member of the Colorado Nursery Association, the C.U. Museum of Natural History and the Green Colorado Water Taskforce for five years.

He played football and tennis in high school and college. He enjoyed bowling and was a fan of the University of Colorado Women’s Basketball. He also enjoyed dirt track racing and was a sponsor and fan of Sheperd Racing.

Mr. Alquist is survived by his sister-in-law, Leanna Alquist of Spickard, Mo.; and his friend and employee, Don Sheperd.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and, his brother, Jack Alquist.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at First Christian Church, in Boulder. The Rev. Terry L. Zimmerman officiated.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the University of Colorado Women’s Basketball. Campus Box 372, Boulder, CO, 80309.

Josephine Isabelle Vigil

Josephine Isabelle Vigil of Lafayette died on Monday, March 21, 2005.

She was 52 years old.

Mrs. Vigil was born on Nov. 14, 1952, in Louisville, to Salvado and Elise Fresquez Vigil.

She married Daniel J. Bender in April 1974. The couple later divorced.

Mrs. Vigil enjoyed gardening and the Broncos.

Mrs. Vigil is survived by her sons, Daniel Vigil and Marcos Vigil of Lafayette; her sisters, Cecilia Vigil of Lafayette, Tina Vigil of Lafayette, and Ruth Ann Rosales of Thornton; and, her half-brothers, Sal Gomez of Pinecliff, Felix Gomez of Milliken, Manuel Gomez of Prescott, Ariz., Mark Gomez of Aurora, Robert Vigil of Lafayette, and Frank Gomez of Nederland.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Erika Vigil.

A visitation took place on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Avalon Funeral Home in Lafayette.

A funeral service took place on Thursday, March 24, 2005, also at the Avalon Funeral Home in Lafayette.

Michael Wayne Burchett

Michael Wayne Burchett of Erie died on Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, in Erie.
He was 47 years old.

Mr. Burchett was born on Sept. 10, 1957, to Clyde H. and Betty A. Clagett Burchett in Grand Junction.

In 1989, he married Elaine Dean in Grand Junction.

The couple later divorced.

He moved to Erie in 2004.

Mr. Burchett is survived by his brother, Ronald Burchett of Conifer; and, two sisters, Kay Dowell of Erie and Lynn Gonzales of Grand Junction.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Betty.

No local services are planned.

Louise Christina Elwell

Louise Christina Elwell, a lifelong resident of Louisville, died on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, in Broomfield.
She was 92 years old.

Ms. Elwell was born on June 25, 1912, to Gelsomino and Annunciatta (Caranci) Romano in Louisville.

In 1934, she married Frank “Dick” Elwell.

In 1954, the couple moved into the house they built on Main Street, where Ms. Elwell lived until her death.

She was a homemaker.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her house became a gathering place each year for the Labor Day parade.

Ms. Elwell is survived by her sons, Richard (Oreen) and Roy (Bernita) Elwell; her grandchildren, Kerry Elwell, Luanne (Wes) Farmer, Amy (Rick) Alexander, Darin (Brenda) Elwell and Dirk (Jin) Elwell; and, her great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Brandon Farmer, Alycia and Krysta Alexander, and, Caleb, Jacob and Hanna Elwell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, Gelsomino and Annunciatta; five sisters; three brothers; and, her infant daughter, Mary Louise, in 1949.

A Celebration of Life took place on Friday, Feb. 4, at a Mass of the Resurrection at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville.

Interment followed at the Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder.

Margaret L. Epp

Margaret L. Epp of Boulder died on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, in Louisville.
She was 86 years old.

Ms. Epp was born on Nov. 6, 1918, to Walter V. Strawe and Bessie McTaggert in Ray, Ind.

In 1940, she earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology from North Central College in Naperville, Ill.

She later completed some graduate work at the University of Chicago.

On Feb. 21, 1942, she married John G. Epp in Naperville, Ill.

The couple moved to Boulder in 1951.

Ms. Epp worked as a registered dietician.

She also was a homemaker.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Boulder and the American Dietetic Association.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She also enjoyed going on photographic journeys with her husband.

Ms. Epp is survived by a daughter, Martha A. (Robert) Ebert of Hopewell, N.J.; her three sons, George E. (Kenda Peterson) Epp II of Boulder, Paul J. Epp of Estes Park and James M. (Julie Birschbach) Epp of Louisville; and, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1997; her sister, Betty Kastner; and an infant daughter, Mary Margaret Epp.

A memorial service will take place at a later date.

John K. Valentine

John K. Valentine of Superior died on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, in Superior.
He was 52 years old.

Mr. Valentine was born on Jan. 25, 1953, to Franklin R. Valentine Jr. and Anna Mae (Hahn) Valentine in Waco, Texas.

In 1975, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

On Oct. 10, 1981, he married Joyce Mina in Lorena, Texas.

Mr. Valentine was employed as a director of product marketing at Plasmon in Englewood.

He previously worked for the McData Corporation and Sun MicroSystems, both of Broomfield.

He was a member of the Lutheran church.

He was the treasurer of the Monarch Little League in Louisville.

He enjoyed spending time with his two dogs, Dusty and Kirby.

Mr. Valentine is survived by his wife, Joyce of Superior; his sons, Corey and Christian Valentine of Superior; his mother, Anna of Waco, Texas; his sister, Karen Sebung-Ferreira of Houston; and, two nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin.

A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

A reception will follow at C.B. & Potts, 555 Zang St., Broomfield.

Interment will take place at a later date in Hawaii.
