Dorothy Faye Lastoka
Dorothy Faye Lastoka of Lafayette died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at her home.
She was 85 years old.
Ms. Lastoka was born Jan. 18, 1919, to Steven and Ella Jane Giles Fotis in Louisville.
On Dec. 19, 1937, she married Laddie Lastoka in Lafayette.
Ms. Lastoka graduated from Louisville High School.
She enjoyed crafts, swimming and dancing.
She was a member of VFW Post No. 1771 Mile High’s Ladies Auxiliary of Lafayette, Elks Lodge, Louisville American Legion and Lafayette United Methodist Church.
Ms. Lastoka is survived by a daughter, Karen Florquist of Rawlins, Wyo.; a son, Laddie Lastoka of Weeping Water, Neb.; a sister, Sylvia Kilker of Louisville; and, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laddie; her brothers, Bennie and Orville Phillips, and Stanley Fotis; and, her sisters, Hazel Lavely and Helen Turpin.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 28, at VFW Post No. 1771 Mile High in Lafayette.

John Allison Windle
John Allison Windle of Berthoud died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in Berthoud.
He was 59 years old.
Mr. Windle was born April 1, 1945, to John Samuel and Lourain Lewis Windle in Denver.
He graduated from East High School of Denver in 1963 and was an editor of the East High Spotlight newspaper from 1962-1963.
He managed the Green Spider music venue and coffeehouse in Denver during the mid-1960s.
He hosted an all-night radio talk show on KTLN.
He also was an editor and writer for the youth-oriented Tempo Magazine, along with other small publications.
He later was the editor of the in-house magazine for World Book in Chicago.
Mr. Windle is survived by his daughter, Caitlin Windle of Lafayette; and his former wife, Lori Windle.
A private service was held for family and friends.

Dorrinda ‘Dori’ Magdaleno
Dorrinda “Dori” Magdaleno of Minatare, Neb., formerly of Erie, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at her home.
She was 48 years old.
Ms. Magdaleno was born April 13, 1956, to Philip and Deloris (Armijo) Martinez in Walsenburg.
On June 26, 1986, she married Alfred Magdaleno Jr. in Scottsbluff, Neb.
Ms. Magdaleno enjoyed dancing, laughing and spending time with her family.
She was an avid University of Nebraska Cornhuskers and Denver Broncos fan who enjoyed drinking the occasional Bud Light.
Ms. Magdaleno is survived by her husband, Alfred of Minatare, Neb.; two daughters, Andrea (Eric) Longoria of Minatare, Neb., and Bernadette (George) Amaya of El Dorado, Ark.; two sons, Armando Mata Jr. of Whitefish, Mont., and Nathan Magdaleno of Boulder; nine grandchildren, Anthony, Abigail, Xavier, Sabrina, Angelica, Dominic, Michael, Keianna and George III; her parents, Philip and Deloris of Erie; four brothers and three sisters, all of Colorado; and, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Efrem, Bonny, Cory and Myra Martinez.
A recitation of the Rosary took place on Thursday, Dec. 16, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont.
The Rev. Robert Whipkey officiated.
A graveside service and interment followed on Friday, Dec. 17, at Erie Cemetery in Erie.

Ruth Mary ‘Mickey’ Klein
Ruth Mary “Mickey” Klein of Boulder died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004.
She was 72 years old.
Ms. Klein was born in 1932 to Alban and Ruth Hayes in Omaha, Neb.
On Oct. 8, 1960, she married Gary Klein.
She grew up in Duluth, Minn., and graduated from Villa St. Scholastica High School.
She also graduated from the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis with a degree in social work.
Ms. Klein worked for the Department of Social Services and Catholic Charities in Duluth, Minn.
She later worked as a child social worker for Catholic Charities in Denver and was a volunteer guardian ad litem.
In 1978, she served on a board that helped start the Ronald McDonald House in Denver.
She later was a board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado.
Ms. Klein enjoyed all outdoor activities, including skiing, skating, bicycling, hiking, gardening and tennis.
She also enjoyed politics and was a regular editorial contributor to local newspapers.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; her children, Kevin Klein of Louisville, Anne Klein of Denver and Sister Anne Frances (Susan) of Birmingham, Ala.; her siblings, Robert Hayes of Long Beach, Calif., Helen Leach of Marquette, Mich., and Kathleen Bianco of Duluth, Minn.; her in-laws, Richard and Jeannette Klein of Longmont; and, countless nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
A recitation of the Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 23, at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6739 South Boulder Road, Boulder.
Fathers Louis Morrone and Dorino DeLazzer will officiate.
A reception will follow.

Edith Merciez Chiolino
Edith (Merciez) Chiolino of Louisville died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at her home.
She was 95 years old.
Ms. Chiolino was born Feb. 21, 1909, to Jules and Marie Bezinque Merciez in Corona, Kan.
On Nov. 28, 1925, she married John Chiolino in Scammon, Kan.
She moved to Boulder County in 1930.
Ms. Chiolino is survived by two daughters, Maxine McHugh of Louisville and Lois Tesone of Niwot; a son, John Chiolino of Louisville; a sister, Amelia Lasalle; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and, four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the Avalon Funeral Home, 1320 Centaur Village Drive, Lafayette.
Interment will follow at the Louisville Cemetery in Louisville.

Thelma M. Fortner
Thelma M. (Crites) Fortner of Denver, formerly of Lafayette, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in Denver.
She was 93 years old.
Ms. Fortner was born Dec. 9, 1910, to Patrick and Bessie O’Brien in Coffeyville, Kan.
She resided in Lafayette from 1954-1996.
She enjoyed animals, especially cats.
Ms. Fortner is survived by two sons, Patrick Crites of Las Vegas and Richard Crites of Denver; her daughter, Jackie (Crites) Kefalas of Denver; and, nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Billy and Jim Crites.
Memorial services and interment took place at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge.

Thelma Lavarra Fraker
Thelma Lavarra Fraker of Boulder, formerly of Louisville and Lafayette, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, in Louisville.
She was 92 years old.
Ms. Fraker was born June 24, 1912, to George David and Elizabeth (Brammer) Cook in Louisville.
On June 20, 1930, she married Emory Tyson Fraker Sr. in Laramie, Wyo.
Ms. Fraker worked as a bartender at Tom’s Tavern in Boulder for 10 years.
She was a member of the VFW, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Lafayette and the Moose Lodge of Boulder.
She enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and dancing.
Ms. Fraker is survived by her sister, Rita Bird of Broomfield; a daughter, Jacqueline D. (Gary) Rodermel of Lafayette; a son, Emory T. (Ramona) Fraker Jr. of Lemoore, Calif.; and, 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emory; a daughter, Mona L. Sampson; and a son, Leroy Fraker.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 110 W. Simpson St., Lafayette.
Father Bob Amundsen will officiate.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder.

Ronald Elder Eppler
Ronald Elder Eppler of Longmont, formerly of Erie and Lafayette, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at home.
He was 64 years old.
Mr. Eppler was born Oct. 2, 1940, to Gordon E. and Helen A. M. Stokke Eppler in Hastings, Minn.
In 1962, he married Anna Schinkel in Minnesota. The couple divorced in 1980.
Mr. Eppler is survived by his son, Wade Eppler of Thornton; his three daughters, Shelly Brown of Longmont, Lisa Rizzuto of Broomfield and Stacey Markham of Frederick; his sister, Darr Engstrom of Sun City, Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Eppler.
A memorial service was held at the Avalon Funeral Home in Lafayette.
Interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont.

Beatrice Mireles
Beatrice Mireles of Lafayette died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, in Louisville.
She was 77 years old.
Ms. Mireles was born April 11, 1927, to Clyde and Amelia Barron Carrillo in Seminole, Okla.
On Oct. 8, 1951, she married Valente Mireles in Longmont.
Ms. Mireles moved to Boulder County in 1955.
She is survived by her husband, Valente of Lafayette; three sons, Clyde, Valente Jr. and Fernie Mireles, all of Lafayette; her five daughters, Amelia Gonzales of Lafayette, Juanita Ruiz of Frederick, Elizabeth Antillon of Thornton, Gloria Martinez of Longmont and Selma Kemp of Superior; and, 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and Jose Carrillo; a sister, Manuela Hernandez; and a son, Benjamin Mireles.
Funeral services were held at the Avalon Funeral Home Chapel in Lafayette.
Interment followed at Lafayette Cemetery.

Mary E. Quimby
Mary E. Quimby of Lafayette died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in Lafayette.
She was 85 years old.
Ms. Quimby was born Dec. 29, 1918, to Furman D. McClain and Muriel Hedrick in Columbus, Ohio.
On Jan. 11, 1938, she married Charles A. Quimby in Littleton.
Ms. Quimby attended Adams City High School in Commerce City.
She also attended one year of business school in Denver.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1771 Mile High and Ladies Auxiliary.
She also volunteered at a veterans’ affairs hospital.
Ms. Quimby is survived by her husband, Charles of Lafayette; her sons, Richard and Delbert Quimby of Arvada; her daughter, Sharron Kramer of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and, 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 10, at the Darrell Howe Mortuary Chapel in Lafayette.
