Helen E. Sheppard
1910-1998
Helen E. Sheppard died July 4, 1998, at the Powell Nursing Home in Powell, Wyo. She was 87.
Sheppard was born to Charles E. and Matilda (Strecker) Wright July 19, 1910, in Jasper, Mo.
She married Virgil J. Sheppard and they lived in Craig and Greeley, Colo., before moving to Powell, Wyo., in 1989.
She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Sheppard was preceded in death by her husband Virgil J. Sheppard.
She is survived by her sons, Virgil J. (Margie B.) Sheppard Jr. of Powell, and Joseph R. (Kathy) Sheppard of Canyon, Texas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 2:30 p.m. July 7 at the First United Methodist Church in Powell. A family graveside service in Craig followed later in the week.
Glen William Kohl
1998 - 1998
Glen William Kohl died in June of 1998.
He was born to Craig and Lisa Kohl June 20, 1998.
He is survived by his parents; brothers, Gharrett and Derek; paternal grandmother, Marion Kohl; great-grandmother, Helen Gains; paternal grandparents, Mike and Sherry Farnsworth of Craig and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services were held at 6 p.m. June 23 at the Craig Cemetery.
John C. Bryan
1958-1998
Former Craig resident John C. "Jace" Bryan died July 3, 1998, in Culps Creek, Ore. He was 40 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Concetta; son, Liam; mother, Jackie; father, John; brother, Pat; sister, Megan; nephew, Klye; and niece, Brianna, all of Oregon.
Memorial services were held July 8 at his gold mine on "The Mountain" in Oregon.

Frank O. Daley
1938-1998
Frank O. Daley died July 1, 1998, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig, Colo. He was 60.
Daley was born to Frank M. and Edith (Campbell) May 16, 1998, in Gilman, Colo.
Daley spent his childhood in Cedaredge and Delta, Colo.
Daley was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He married Audrey A. Rogers Jan. 8, 1995, in Roundup, Mont.
Before moving to Craig in 1978, he had previously lived in Hayden, Montrose, Palisade, Colbran, Sapinero, Silverthorne and Durango, Colo.
Daley worked in the construction of power plants, tunnels and dams prior to working for Trapper Mine. His hobby was ranching.
Daley is survived by his son, Douglas (Diana) Daley of Craig; daughter, Della (Eric) Cousins of Korea; mother, Edith Wells of Fruita, Colo.; brother, George Daley, of Durango, Colo.; and sisters, Janice Tune of Durango, Mary Watson of Hernando Beach, Fla. and Ruth Fletcher of Gunnison, Colo.
He is also survived by a granddaughter, Daria Daley, of Craig.
Services were held at 11 a.m. July 8, 1998, at the Church of God in Craig.
Clifford Thompson officiated the service.
Organist and soloist was Vera Thompson. Selections were "Amazing Grace" and "He Washed My Eyes With Tears."
Honorary pallbearers were William Nicholson, Billy Nicholson, Bill Skowronski, Rob Dilldine, Larry Haggerty and Larry Allen Haggerty
Cremation was prior to the service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice in care of Grant Mortuary.
Grace E. Lepak
1943-1998
Grace E. Lepak of Craig, Colo., died July 10, 1998, at Valley View Manor in Craig, Colo. She was 55.
Lepak was born to William G. and Grace (Hubbard) Booco May 20, 1943, in Oak Creek, Colo. She spent her childhood in Hayden, Colo.
Lepak lived in Battle Ground, Wash., for 22 years and Denver 10 years. She became a resident of Craig in June 1998.
Her occupation was an electronics assembler.
She enjoyed crafts, woodworking and printing.
Lepak is survived by her son, Abraham Lee "Abe" Lepak II of Battle Ground, Wash.; daughter, Desiree Irene Booco of Portland, Ore.; brothers, Duke Booco of Whitewater, Colo., and step-brother, Jim Zubal, of Price , Utah.; and sister, Iris Doolin, of Craig.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Final disposition was cremation.
Helen Medvesk
1927-1998
Helen Medvesk died July 1, 1998, at Routt Memorial Hospital in Steamboat Springs, Colo. She was 71.
Medvesk was born to Joseph and Lucy (Arnoldi) Canetti March 17, 1927, in Ideal, Colo.
She spent her childhood in Milner, Colo., and Steamboat Springs.
Medvesk married Carl L. Medvesk Nov. 24, 1950, in Steamboat Springs.
She lived in Oak Creek, Colo., Yukia and Garberville, Calif., before moving to Hayden, Colo., 38 years ago.
Her occupation was a waitress and housewife.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary and the Mission of Grace Church.
Medvesk enjoyed fishing, gardening, embroidery and cooking.
Medvesk is survived by her husband, Carl Medvesk of Hayden; son, Gary (Joan) Medvesk of Hayden; daughter, Barbara (Joe) Salazar of Hayden; brother, John Canetti of Grand Junction, Colo.; sisters, Edith Jean of Lake Isabella, Calif., Clara Yandell of Hutchins, Texas, and Rose Petty of Utah.
She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Medvesk was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Joe.
Services were held at 1 p.m. July 5, 1998, at the Hayden Congregational Church. Bill Iammatteo-Code officiated the service. Pianist was Todd Sargent, flutist was Kimmi Medvesk and soloist was Loretta Earle. Selections were "Shall We Gather At The River" and "Red River Valley."
Honorary pallbearers were Joey Salazar, Tobby Salazar, Levi Salazar and Graig Medvesk.
Memorial donations can be made to West Routt Housing, in care of Grant Mortuary.
Shirley Thomas
1935-1998
Shirley Thomas of Craig Colo., died July 4, 1998, at her home in Craig, Colo. She was 62.
Thomas was born to Ira and Louise (Smith) Barnhart Aug. 1, 1935, northeast of Burlington, Colo.
Shirley attended grade school at Happy Hollow country School, attended Burlington High school, graduating in 1953. She attended flight school in Omaha, Neb.
Thomas married Delbert Linthicum in 1954. This marriage ended in a divorce. She lived in Nebraska, California, Arizona, Wray and Burlington, Colo.
She married Bill Thomas in 1972, in Thornton, Colo., and moved to Burlington, Colo.
They operated a cafe in Kremmling, and later moved to Craig to start an upholstering business. She managed the Travelodge Motel in Laramie, Wyo., a short time before returning to her upholstering business in Craig.
She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, hunting, fishing and camping.
Thomas is survived by daughters, Debra Linthicum of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Barbara Moss and Valerie Stark, both of Craig; son, Randy Linthicum; grandchildren, Billy and Levi Moss and Tara Davis, all of Craig; mother, Louise Barnhart of Burlington; sisters, Eva Cousins of Laramie, Wyo., and Charlotte Osborn of Brush, Colo; brothers, Delvin Barnhart of Burlington and Rodney Barnhart, of Wiggins, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; father, Ira Barnhart; and brother, Denzel Barnhart.
A private memorial service was July 9, 1998, in Craig at the Calvary Baptist Church, with Al Cashion officating.
A memorial fund has been set up with Valerie Stark, at 615 Riford Road, Apt No. 5F, Craig, CO 81625.

Irene (Sawyer) Beach Carr
1905 - 1998
Irene (Sawyer) Beach Carr, formerly of Snake River, died July 10, 1998, at the Wallbridge Wing of the Pioneer Hospital in Meeker, Colo. She was 93,
Irene was born to Edward M. Sawyer and Alice (Leonard) Sawyer June 6, 1905, in a sod shanty near Scottsbluff, Neb. She was the second of 12 children.
In 1922, she married Ray Beach, and lived and worked in various places across Wyoming and Nebraska. The couple had five children; LeRoy Beach, Cliff Beach, Pat (Beach) Herold, Don Beach, and Jane (Beach) Dunckley. The couple was later divorced.
On Sept. 5, 1939, she married Lester Carr, and moved to Baggs. The couple had two children, Carol (Carr) Orchard, and Deenie (Carr) Orchard.
In December of 1942 they moved to the Gooldy Ranch above Savery, Wyo., where they remained for 23 years.
In 1965, they moved to the Thomas place, east of Savery, where they spent many years. They later moved to the Oberwager place north of Baggs.
Carr's husband died in 1983. Carr lived in Baggs until 1991, when she entered the nursing home in Meeker, Colo.
Carr was a unique person with so many varied interests and talents that it is impossible to list them all. She was a mother and a teacher. She was an avid outdoors person. She loved hunting, fishing, growing flowers and gardens, working in the hayfield, milking cows, and even trapping and skinning beaver. Her greatest love was horseback riding after a bunch of cows.
She loved birds and could identify almost all of them. Carr also spent many hours making quilts and braided rugs.
Carr started the 4-H Club on Snake River, and was the only leader for several years. She worked for many years to build the Savery Savers 4-H club to what it is today.
Irene is survived by her son, Don (Lilly) Beach, of California; daughters, Jane Dunckley (Dick) of Nevada; Carol Orchard (Chuck), of Baggs, Wyo.; Deenie Orchard (Bob) of Baggs; daughters-in-law, Florence Beach Gentemaml of Oregon; Rosemary Beach of Colorado; sisters, Elaine of Utah, Gladine and Billy of Worland; brother, Bob of Worland; 31 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Ray Beach and Lester Carr; sons, LeRoy Beach and Cliff Beach, and daughter Pat (Beach); Herold and husband Joe; and four grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. July 17, 1998, at the Little Snake River School in Baggs.
Dick Dunckley officiated the service with Connie Spicer as pianist and Jake Fleming as soloist with selections of "Rock Of Ages," "Old Rugged Cross" and "These Are My Mountains."
Pallbearers were Rod Orchard, Bob Dunckley, Bill Orchard, Rich Dunckley, Mark Orchard and Wayne Goodnow.
Honorary pallbearers were Chuck Orchard, Bob Orchard, Con Beach and Dick Dunckley.
Interment was at the Reader Cemetery in Baggs.
Contributions may be made to the Senior Center in Baggs, or to the Savery Savers 4-H Club.
