Herbert H. Becker of Lakewood, a director of purchasing, died Oct. 20. He was 89.
Services were Saturday at Wheat Ridge Lutheran Church. Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery.
He was born March 18, 1910, in Chicago. He married Doris Armstrong in 1937. She preceded him in death.
He was the director of purchasing for Swift and Company. He was a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League and Wheat Ridge Lutheran Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Joan Preyer, Englewood; a son, Charles, Lakewood; a brother, Arthur, Larkspur; and six grandchildren.

Carlton H. Becker
Water treatment engineer, 98
Carlton H. Becker of Denver, a former water treatment engineer, died July 23 in Aurora. He was 98.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today at Quincy Place Retirement Residence, 7200 E. Quincy Ave. There will be cremation.
He was born March 24, 1902, in Elgin, Ill. He earned a bachelor's degree in engineering in 1924 from the University of Illinois.
On Aug. 23, 1925, he married Clara B. Moulden in Tuscola, Ill. She died in 1980.
He was an associate member of the water treatment firm Greeley and Hansen from 1924 to 1955.
His interests included gardening and photography.
He was on the library and school boards and was chairman of the planning commission in Lombard, Ill., where he lived from 1926 to 1970. He was named Man of the Year in 1955 by the Lombard Junior Chamber of Commerce for his work on the planning commission.
He was a member of Rincon Congregational Church and Men's Garden Club, both in Tucson.
He is survived by two daughters, Alice B. Melchior, Black Creek, Wis., and Anita B. Martin, Aurora; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to any charity.

Maurice G. Becker
State Patrol officer, 82
Maurice G. Becker of Grand Junction, a retired Colorado State Patrol officer, died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital and Medical Center. He was 82.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary Chapel in Grand Junction. Interment will be in Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
He was born May 30, 1918, in Denver. He graduated from West High School in 1936.
He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II and completed 33 combat missions in the European Theater.
On May 25, 1948, he married Theda M. McClain in Denver.
He was a patrol officer for 32 years.
He was a member of the Police Protection Association. His interests included fishing, hunting, golf and gardening.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Dennis M., Denver; and a sister, Villetta Kretschmar, Denver.

Irene Katherine Baumann of Denver, a homemaker, died Feb. 5. She was 83.
Services were Feb. 8 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery.
She was born June 23, 1916, in York County, Neb. On Sept. 1, 1941, she married Glenn Baumann in Sutton, Neb. Her hobbies included making ornaments.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Karen Peil, Lakewood; and two sisters, Edna Hornbacher, Sutton, Neb., and Bertha Bauer, Wichita.

Littleton homemaker, 80
Verna M. Ballard of Littleton, a homemaker, died Oct. 18 at St. John's Hospice. She was 80.
No services were held. There was cremation.
She was born Verna Duggan on April 5, 1919, in Denver. On Nov. 27, 1941, she married John F. Ballard in Englewood. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Pat Michalak.

Eugene Battles
Mechanic, 84
Eugene Battles of Denver, a mechanic, died Sept. 9. He was 84.
Graveside services were Sept. 14 in Fort Logan National Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 25, 1914, in Salina, Okla. His wife, Mary "Becky'' Burts preceded him in death.
Battles served in the Army with the 53rd Amphibious Engineers under Gen. George Patton and was awarded several battle citations.
He was employed as a mechanic for 25 years at the Samsonite Corp.
His interests included fishing, hunting, travel, flower and vegetable gardening.
There are no immediate survivors.

Accountant, 91
Elizabeth Bates of Aurora, a former accountant and homemaker, died Sept. 24. She was 91.
Services were Sept. 28 at Olinger's Magnolia Mortuary. Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery.
She was born May 7, 1908, in McGill, Nev. She attended Colorado Women's College in Denver. She married Chester A. Bates in 1951. She was an accountant for his construction company. He died in 1976.
She was a member of the Aurora Rebekah Lodge and worked for the Church of the Master.
She is survived by two sons, George Devers, Aurora, and Richard Devers, Highlands Ranch; seven stepsons, Carl, Morrison, Ray, Westminster, Calif., Lloyd, Wray, Durrell, Lake Elsinore, Calif., Ben, Springfield, Mo., Jerry, Lakewood, and Chester, Winfield, Kan.; three stepdaughters, Irene Walatalo, Lakewood, Shirley Adams, Arkansas City, Kan., and Charlotte Stout, Rose Hill, Kan.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was born June 12, 1915, in Denver. On Dec. 31, 1949, she married Robert E. Bjolin in Denver. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Pollard, Wheat Ridge; a grandchild; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was born Eva D. Bennett on April 17, 1918, in Paonia. On June 23, 1940, she married Willard M. Bishop in Denver. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Plains, Kan.
She is survived by a son, Marion, Arvada; a daughter, Hazel R. Jackson, Brighton; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Robert E. "Bob'' Blackerby of Denver, an insurance salesman, died Monday at the Medical Center of Aurora. He was 86.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Burns United Methodist Church, 1095 Newark. Entombment will be in Crown Hill Mausoleum.
He was born May 10, 1913, in Wheeler, Texas. On Oct. 16, 1937, he married Beverly L. Stonebraker, in Trinidad. She preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Trinidad Masonic Lodge No. 28, El Jebel Shrine, the Colorado Consistory, and Demolay.
His interests included golf, fishing, camping, pheasant hunting, and gardening.
He is survived by a daughter, Sue A. Miller, Aurora; and four sons, Jack H., Fort Collins, Robert B., Drexel Hill, Pa., James W., Narragansett, R.I., and Kim L., Parker.

David Charles Bilsing of Evergreen, a certified public accountant, died Sunday at home. He was 66.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Park, 26624 N. Turkey Creek Road. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
He was born March 15, 1933, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. In 1955, he married Dorothy L. Emerson in Shelby, Ohio.
Bilsing served in the Army.
He earned a degree from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
He was a member of Acacia Fraternity, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Church of the Hill.
He was a scuba diver.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Karen Willingham, Atlanta, and Linda, Fort Collins; a son, Michael, Evergreen; a brother, Robert, Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.
