Anthony J. Bubbico of Port Charlotte, Fla., a former Greenwich resident, died Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Richard L. Rosenthal Care Center in Stamford. He was 87. He died of complications of heart disease, according to his family. Born Oct. 5, 1915, in Port Chester, N.Y., he was a son of the late Joseph and Angelina Bucci Bubbico. Mr. Bubbico was a sales representative for Eastern Paper and Bag Co. in Bridgeport. He also worked in the restaurant business. He lived in Greenwich until moving to Port Charlotte 21 years ago. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 41 and was a fourth-degree knight. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside and served on the executive board of the Village of Holiday Lakes in Port Charlotte. He is survived by his son, Richard J. Bubbico of Norwalk; a daughter, Jacquelyn M. Bubbico of Stamford; two brothers, Amil Bubbico of Greenwich and Joseph Bubbico of Port Charlotte; a sister, Clara Romano of Carson, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Sabia Bubbico. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Burial will follow in St. John's cemeteryin Darien. Gertrude S. Buchs a longtime Darien resident, died Thursday, Oct. 23, in Haven Health Center in Darien. She was 95. She died of congestive heart failure, according to her family. Born Aug. 2, 1908 in Danbury, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Brosz. Mrs. Buchs was a member of Ruth Fellowship of Zion Lutheran Church and an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, both of Stamford. She worked in child-care from age 15 until she was 80. Mrs. Buchs is survived by two granddaughters, Audrey Barrette of Monroe and Amy Buchs of Niantic; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles U. Buchs; and a son, Edmond C. Buchs. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 265 Seaside Ave., Stamford, with the Rev. J.P. Breznen officiating. Frances Buchsbaum of Fairfield died Monday, Dec. 3, at The Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield. She was 95. She died of congestive heart failure, according to her family. Born Dec. 8, 1905, in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Fredrick and Rebecca Weinstock Klosenberg. Mrs. Buchsbaum was an executive secretary for the Olin Corp. for many years. She is survived by her son, Sanford Buchsbaum of Greenwich; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George Buchsbaum. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Abraham L. Green Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow at Mount Ararat cemeteryin Farmingdale, N.Y. Sarah "Sally" Watchman Burchill of New Canaan, died Friday, Nov. 29, at Greenwich Hospital. She was 38. She died of complications during childbirth, according to her family. Born Dec. 6, 1963, she was the daughter of Bill and Mary Lou Watchman of Palm Beach, Fla. Mrs. Burchill graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall and from Brown University. She pursued a career in acting in New York City before she married in 1990. An active community member, she served as an Emergency Medical Technician with the New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She was also a member of the Congregational Church of New Canaan and the New Canaan Public School Performing Arts Committee. She is survived by her husband, Tom Burchill; four sons, Tommy Burchill, Nicholas Burchill, Garrett Burchill and Aidan Burchill, all of New Canaan; and a daughter, Annabel Burchill of New Canaan; two brothers, Greg Watchman of Washington, D.C., and William Watchman of Incline Village, Nev. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the F. Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan. Nora Walsh Burhans, a lifelong Norwalk resident, died Thursday, Oct. 2, at Norwalk Hospital. She was 88. She died of natural cases, according to her family.Born Dec. 17, 1914, in Norwalk, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Alice Conroy Walsh. A 1933 graduate of Norwalk High School, Mrs. Burhans was an account manager at Rex Marine Center in Norwalk for many years. She is survived by a son, Daniel Burhans of Norwalk; a sister, Catherine Skidd of Boca Raton, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alson C. Burhans; two brothers, John "Jack" Walsh and William "Bill" Walsh; and two sisters, Madeleine Fodor and Alice Zeman Cutrone. John Buzzeo of Greenwich, a builder and carpentry foreman, died Monday, Sept. 15, at Stamford Hospital. He was 79. He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family. Born March 3, 1924, in Port Chester, N.Y., he was the son of the late Donato and Alfonsina Capocci Buzzeo. Mr. Buzzeo served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He was a drummer with the U.S. Air Force Band. He was a member of the March Air Base Band in Riverside, Calif., and the Knights of Music, a band in Westchester County, N.Y. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Theresa Barbara Buzzeo of Greenwich; a daughter, Patricia Benni of Milford; two brothers, Anthony Buzzeo of Port Chester and Louis Buzzeo of Bloomville, N.Y.; two sisters, Mary Passero of Port Chester and Barbara LaRussell of Southbury; a granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Philomena DiStasio. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Margaret E. "Peggy" Byrne of Wethersfield, a gardener and former Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, while vacationing in Bar Harbor, Maine. She was 53. The cause of her death is unknown pending an autopsy, according to her family. Born March 29, 1950, in Rockville, she was a daughter of Leonard J. Manchuck of Naples, Fla., and the late Anna Mae Turner Manchuck. Mrs. Byrne lived in Wethersfield for 28 years, where she was a member of the Village Garden Club and a communicant of Corpus Christi Church. Mrs. Byrne also enjoyed painting, hiking and other outdoor activities. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 32 years, Kenneth Byrne of Wethersfield; her stepmother, Mary Manchuck of Naples; a daughter, Sarah K. Byrne of Wethersfield; three sisters, Mary Ellen Schultz of Montana, Katie DiFelice of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Amy Mostellar of Atlanta; and three brothers, William Manchuck of West Hartford, Craig Manchuck of New Canaan and Chris Manchuck of San Diego. Florence "Teena" Calabrese, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Sunday, Oct. 12 at Stamford Hospital. She was 80. She died of respiratory failure, according to her family. Born Sept. 22, 1923, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Nunzia Nardella DiGiacomo. Mrs. Calabrese worked for many years as a quality controller for U.S. Surgical Corp. in Norwalk. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dominick F. Calabrese of Stamford; two sons, Paul D. Calabrese of Patterson, N.Y., and Donald P. Calabrese of Stamford; a daughter, Nancy C. Ritacco of Wilton; a brother, George DiGiacomo of Arizona; a sister, Adeline "Dolly" Moore of Redlands, Calif.; and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Patsy DiGiacomo. Joseph A. Calabrese Sr. of Thornton, Colo., a former Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 2 at Kindred Health Care in Thornton. He was 81. He died of natural causes, according to his family. He was born Sept. 26, 1922, in Brooklyn, N.Y. Mr. Calabrese grew up in Stamford and moved to Bethel in 1966. He worked for Perkin-Elmer in Danbury for 35 years. Mr. Calabrese served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He helped build lenses for the Hubble Telescope and Mercury space flights. He is survived by a son, Joseph A. Calabrese Jr. of Thornton, Colo.; a daughter, Grace Drumright of Braggadocio, Mo.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Calabrese was predeceased by his wife, Lylah Pearl Calabrese. Lovell B. Caldwell, a Norwalk resident, died Friday, Nov. 23, at Norwalk Hospital. She was 59. She died of a heart attack, according to her family. Born Dec. 5, 1941, in Orangeburg, S.C., she was a daughter of Roger Caldwell Sr. of Stamford and the late Oreen Moorer Caldwell. She was a teacher's assistant for the Stamford Board of Education for three years. She was also a member of the Mount Nebo Baptist Church in East Norwalk. In addition to her father, she is survived by a son, James Anthony Bing of Orangeburg; a daughter, Tracy L. Elizabeth S. Calfee, a homemaker who lived in Stamford, died Friday, Aug. 15 at home. She was 102. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Nov. 21, 1900 in Albany, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Harrison Sherley. Mrs. Calfee was active in the Girl Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut. She was the oldest living member of First Presbyterian Church in Stamford, where she was secretary and a circle leader for the Women's Association. Mrs. Calfee graduated from New York State Library School in 1921 and attended Columbia University. She was a librarian at The Brockport State Teachers College in Brockport, N.Y., before she moved to Stamford in 1941. Late in life, she was cared for by Hyldie Davis. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth C. McCormack of New Haven; a son, William E. Calfee of Ruckersville, Va.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Robert C. Calfee. Helen Davison Callahan, a longtime Norwalk resident, died Sunday, Dec. 15, at home. She was 85. She died of cancer, according to her family. Born Dec. 26, 1916, in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Anna Welch Davison. Mrs. Callahan lived in Norwalk for 55 years. She graduated from Lewis High School in Southington in 1933, then graduated from a two-year business program in 1935. She was the former accounts payable manager for Vallerie Transportation Co. in Norwalk for 15 years. She went on to work as the import-export manager for D.A. Comstock & Co. in Norwalk until her retirement. She was active in St. Mary's Women's Guild at St. Mary's Parish in Norwalk, where she was a former member. She was a member of the Central Catholic High School Parent's Association in Norwalk and a member of St. Philip Church in Norwalk. She is survived by a son, James Michael Callahan Jr. of Concord, Mass.; two daughters, Maureen C. Topper of Darien and Ann E. Callahan of Norwalk; a granddaughter, Lindsay A. Scala of Norwalk, with whom she lived; seven other grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James Michael Callahan; a daughter, Jean E. Callahan; and a brother, Earle A. Davison. Olga Calle, a longtime Stamford resident and homemaker, died Monday, Aug. 18, at Stamford Hospital. She was 76. She died of complications following surgery, according to her family. Born July 15, 1927, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Rose Wyhowanec. Mrs. Calle lived in Stamford for 46 years. She served as vice president of Paul Calle Inc. of Stamford. She also served as a eucharistic minister at St. Gabriel Church in Stamford. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Paul Calle of Stamford; a daughter, Claudia Beal of Waco, Texas; two sons, Paul Peter Calle of Danbury and Christopher Calle of Ridgefield; a brother, Stephen Wyhowanec of Lindenhurst, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. Ernest Campbell, a longtime Stamford resident, died Monday, Jan. 13 at Stamford Hospital. He was 53. He died of kidney and liver complications, according to his family. Born Aug. 13, 1949, in Laurens County, S.C., he was a son of the late Alex Goodjoin and Cynthia Lucille Campbell. Mr. Campbell moved to Stamford in 1968. He was employed at Stamford Hospital and at Kombi Limited of Stamford. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church of Stamford. After moving to Norwalk about 15 years ago, he was employed by Norwalk Public Schools Food Services as truck driver delivering food. He is survived by his wife, Myra Taylor Campbell of Maryland; his longtime companion, Henrietta Alexander of Stamford; three sons, Ernest Campbell Jr. and Jeffrey M. Campbell, both of Maryland, and Shawn Dixon of Bridgeport; three daughters, Tonya Dixon of Waterbury, Deborah Robertson of Bridgeport and April Alexander of Stamford; two sisters, Roberta Joyner of Stamford and Minister Synethia Epps of Stratford; three brothers, Walter Campbell of Charlotte, N.C., and Willie L. Campbell and Jack D. Campbell, both of Stamford; two grandsons; one granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Born June 15, 1959, in La Vega, Dominican Republic, he was a son of Maria J. Cruz Canela of the Dominican Republic and the late Juan Canela. Mr. Canela was an employee of Saturn of Stamford. Keith E. Canning, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Monday, Nov. 18, at Stamford Hospital. He was 69. He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family. Born June 19, 1933, in Stamford, he was a son of the late Ruby E. Rynard and J. Edward "Scoop" Canning. Mr. Canning was a retired employee of Dorr-Oliver Corp., where he worked for 31 years. He was a member of St. John Episcopal Church of Stamford. He also served as a former president for the Linden House Apartments Association in Stamford. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Oestmann Canning of Stamford; five daughters, Deborah Labagnara of New Haven, Sharon Romano of Leesburg, Va., and Karen Pierce, Laurie Pensiero and Donna Murphy, all of Stamford; a son, H. William Oestmann of Stamford; a brother, William H. Canning of Houston; and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 19, at Nicholas F. Francis LeGrand Capers III, a longtime Greenwich resident who recently moved to Stamford, died Sunday, Nov. 17, at Stamford Hospital. He was 88. He died of pulmonary disease, according to his family. Born May 31, 1914, in Pueblo, Colo., he was the son of the late Francis LeGrand Capers II and Ethel Davis Capers. Mr. Capers graduated in 1935 from Stanford University, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He later earned his master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School. He retired as president of McKesson & Robbins Corp. in the early 1970s after 30 years with the company. Mr. Capers served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 and was a longtime member of the Riverside Yacht Club. He spent many years pursuing his love of sailing with his wife, Caretta Miles Capers, who died last year. He is survived by a daughter, Catharine Wagner of Windsor, Vt.; a son, Francis L. Capers IV of St. Lucia; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. There are no calling hours. Theresa Mucci Capuano, a homemaker and longtime Bridgeport resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, at The Nathaniel Witherell nursing home in Greenwich. She was 88. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born April 13, 1915, in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late John and Rose Mucci. Mrs. Capuano moved to Stamford in 1991. She is survived by a daughter, RoseMarie Capuano of Stamford; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; two great-great-nephews; and one great-great-niece. She was predeceased by her husband, Guido Capuano; six brothers, Gus Mucci, Samuel Mucci; Michael Mucci, Andrew Mucci, John Mucci and Frank Mucci; and two sisters, Grace Micalizzi and Rose Cifone. John Caraszi, a longtime Stamford resident, died Thursday, Feb. 27, at Stamford Hospital. He was 86. He died of natural causes, according to his family. Born April 4, 1916, in Pheonixville, Pa., he was the son of the late Julius and Mary Ronto Caraszi. Mr. Caraszi was a retired school custodian working for the city of Stamford for 20 years before his retirement. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Stamford. He was an avid fisherman and New York Yankees fan. He is survived by a daughter, Joan Manka of Danbury; two sons, John Caraszi of Brookfield and Richard Caraszi of Shanghai, China; a sister, Margaret Smegal of Stamford; a brother, Edward Caraszi of Cleveland; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Lazzaro Caraszi; two brothers, Joseph Caraszi and Gaza Caraszi; and three sisters, Helen Matthews, Mary Foley and Anna Zmarslak. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 3, at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A procession will depart the funeral home at 10:20 a.m., Tuesday, March 4, and proceed to Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 1200 Shippan Ave., Stamford where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Darien. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Passionist Monastery, 303 Tunxis Road, West Hartford, CT 06107-3199.
