Robert Koch, an art historian and longtime Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Stamford Hospital. He was 85.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born April 7, 1918, in New York City, he was the son of the late Millard and Ella Heidelberg Koch.
Mr. Koch was a world-renowned expert on Art Nouveau and authored the book "Louis C. Tiffany, Rebel in Glass," which is considered the bible of the 1960s antique revival.
He taught art history at Southern Connecticut State College in New Haven for 30 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He is survived by a daughter, B'rak Asher of Ulster Park, N.Y.; and a son, Mitchell Koch of Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Rooff Koch.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, Aug. 14, at Mt. Pleasant cemeteryin Hawthorne, N.Y.

George Jacob Kocher, a Norwalk resident, died Monday, Dec. 3, at home. He was 75.
He died of cancer, according to his family.
Born Feb. 1, 1926 in Norwalk, he was the son of the late Jacob Philip and Theresa Stefan Kocher.
Mr. Kocher was the owner of Your Home Appliance Service prior to his retirement. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He was 30-year member of the South Norwalk Boat Club and was an active member and instructor with the Norwalk Power Squadron.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Magee Kocher of Norwalk; a son, Douglas George Kocher of Lanexa, Kan.; two daughters, Alice Procaccini of Trumbull and Barbara Zahlman of Norwalk; a sister, Helen Haversat of Guilford; a brother, Donald Kocher of Florida; six grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew.
Calling hours are 10 a.m. to noon today, Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk.
A funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home.

Kurt W. Koehnlein, a longtime Norwalk resident,died Sunday, June 27, at Dumont Masonic Home in New Rochelle, N.Y. He was 84.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born June 5, 1920, in Lorrach, Germany, he was the son of the late Karl and Maya Friedrich Koehnlein.
Mr. Koehnlein lived in Norwalk since 1981. He worked as a machinist for Pneumatic Tool, formerly in College Point, N.Y., from 1940 to 1988.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Quartette Club and the Sons of Italy, all in Norwalk.
He is survived by his wife, Emilieanne Koehnlein of Norwalk; his daughter, Hope Franz of Ridgefield; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Henry Edward Kopec, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, at home. He was 84.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born Dec. 1, 1917, in Stamford, he was a son of the late Frank and Anastasia Kopec.
Mr. Kopec was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by seven nephews, Edward "Buddy" Kopec, Paul G. Kopec, William Kopec, Thomas Kopec, Dennis Doshna, Ronald Doshna and James Yaeger, all of Stamford; and a niece, Margaret Kopec of Stamford.
He was predeceased by two brothers, William Kopec and Edward Kopec; and two sisters, Stella Doshna and Jane Yaeger.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Gerald R. Bosak Funeral Home, 9 Pulaski St., Stamford.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the funeral home.

Albert Joseph Kopec, a Greenwich resident, died Friday, April 12, at Greenwich Hospital. He was 84.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born Sept. 1, 1917 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Felix and Sophie Kopec.
Mr. Kopec was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy where he participated in the Normandy invasion. He worked as a machinist in tool and dye manufacturing and in construction as a sheet metal worker. He was a member of St. Paul's Church of Greenwich.
He is survived by a son, Paul Kopec of Stamford; a daughter, Margaret Chmiel of Alpharetta, Ga.; a brother, John Kopec of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, at St. Paul's Church, 84 Sherwood Ave., Greenwich.

John A. Kowaleski Sr.

John Anthony Kowaleski Sr. , a lifelong Stamford resident and retired city firefighter, died Friday, Jan. 16, at home. He was 88.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born Nov. 18, 1915, in Stamford, he was a son of the late Nikodem and Weronika Domalewski Kowalewski.
Mr. Kowaleski graduated from Stamford High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War, and was honorably discharged.
He worked as a firefighter for the City of Stamford for more than 32 years. He was a communicant and parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford and a member of the Holy Name Athletic Club. He belonged to the Stamford post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He loved to golf, and was the only one of his golf partners to make a hole in one on the ninth hole of the E. Gaynor Brennan Municipal Golf Course in Stamford.
Mr. Kowaleski was a vegetable gardener and oil painter who specialized in painting floral arrangements.
He is survived by his son, John A. Kowaleski Jr. of Princeton, Mass.; a brother, Nikodem Kowaleski of Stamford; a sister, Frances Kowaleski of Stamford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Victoria Wilkes Kowaleski; and a brother, Joseph Kowaleski.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Bosak Funeral Home, 9 Pulaski St., Stamford.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 369 Washington Blvd., Stamford.

Shirley Kraus, an award-winning artist and former Stamford resident, died Monday, Jan. 20, at St. Vincent Hospital in Bridgeport. She was 86.
She died of kidney failure, according to her family.
Born Nov. 20, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Gustave and Mary Kellner.
Before moving to Stamford in 1978, Mrs. Kraus lived in Pelham, N.Y., New Rochelle, N.Y., and Brooklyn, N.Y. For the past year, she lived at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield.
She graduated from Beaver College in Glenside, Pa., and studied art at Columbia University Teacher's College in New York City, and at the Brooklyn Museum in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mrs. Kraus exhibited her work in several museums and galleries, and was the recipient of many awards, her family said. Her work was primarily oil paintings, monoprints, and ink drawings.
She held memberships in several major art organizations, including the Stamford Art Association, the Art/Place cooperative gallery in Southport, the National Association of Women Artists, the American Society of Contemporary Artists, and the Westchester Art Society.
She is survived by two sons, Peter Kraus of Ossining, N.Y., and Kenneth Kraus of Westport; a daughter, Katherine Lewis of Nottingham, N.H.; a sister, Constance Livingston of New Rochelle, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Kraus.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Mrs. Kraus donated her body to medical research.

William A. Kreusser of Stamford, a machinist who enjoyed woodworking, died Thursday, Aug. 8, at Stamford Hospital. He was 86.
He died of complications from heart surgery, according to his family.
Born Aug. 2, 1916, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of the late Grace and William Kreusser.
Mr. Kreusser worked for about 35 years at Machelett Laboratories in Stamford. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Darien chapter of the AARP and the Darien Senior Center. He was also on the board of the Stamford Senior Center. In addition, he volunteered as a master woodworker at the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.
He is survived by a son, William A Kreusser Jr. of Wilton; a daughter, Frances Mason of New Milford; a sister, Grace Labin of Bridgewater, N.J.; a companion, Laura Johansson of Stamford; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Roberts; a daughter, Grace Liebiwitz; and a brother, George Kreusser.
Calling hours will be 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford. A service will be held during the calling hours at 8:30 p.m.

Floyd Krom Sr. of Ellenville, N.Y., a retired truck driver, died Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Fireman's Home in Hudson, N.Y. He was 84.
He died of Alzheimer's disease, according to his family.
Born Dec. 9, 1918 in Napanoch, N.Y., he was the son of the late Jerry and Edna Crawford Krom.
Mr. Krom was a truck driver for Binder's Produce in Ellenville, N.Y., and a lifetime member of Kimble Hose Company No. 1, also in Ellenville.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Comfort of Northport, Fla.; three sons, Floyd Krom Jr. of Stamford, Peter J. Krom of Northport, Fla., and Paul S. Krom of Wurtsboro, N.Y.; two brothers, Sanford Krom of Napanoch, N.Y., and Herman Krom of Ellenville, N.Y.; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife, Doris Krom; a daughter, Donna Jean Davis; a son, Robert Allen Krom; a sister, Hazel Artice and another sister.

Lena Kasazkow Kropp of Cranston, R.I., a longtime Mount Vernon, N.Y., resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Miriam Hospital in Providence, R.I. She was 89.
She died from cardiac arrest, according to her family.
Born Feb. 24, 1914, in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Morris and Bella Kasazkow.
Mrs. Kropp had been a resident of Mount Vernon for 43 years until moving to Rhode Island more than three years ago.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Kropp of Savannah, Ga., and Michael Kropp of Richmond, R.I.; a brother, Benjamin Kasazkow of Montauk, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a niece and a nephew.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Kropp; three sisters, Tillie Friedman, Ida Kasazkow and Jessica Kasazkow; and a brother Isadore Kasazkow.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Ave., Valhalla, N.Y.

Rozalia H. Kryszcznski, a Stamford resident and former Pitney Bowes employee died Thursday, Aug. 7, at Stamford Hospital. She was 80.
She died of cardiac arrest according to her family.
Born Sept. 8, 1922, in Poland, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Wladyslawa Wadolowski.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford. She was also a former member of the Pitney Bowes Oval Club and Holy Name of Jesus Rosary Society.
She is survived by her brother, Stanley Wadolowski of Poland; along with several nieces and nephews.

Ethel Catherine Kuba
Ethel Catherine Kuba of Glastonbury, a former Stamford resident died Saturday, Oct. 25, at Hartford Hospital. She was 80.
She died from complications due to a stroke, according to her family.
Born July 29, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Mary Wheeler and Joseph Ward.
Mrs. Kuba moved to Stamford in 1955. She worked for the Board of Education before retiring.
Playing cards was a favorite pastime of hers, and she was known as being a great "bluffer."
She also enjoyed taking care of stray pets and her own cats.
Mrs. Kuba is survived by two sons, Thomas McKee of Glastonbury and Billy Kuba of Stamford; a daughter, Ellen McKee-Parks of Hayward, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Terrence McKee.
There will be a celebration of her life will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Stamford Ancient Order of the Hibernians, 186 Greyrock Pl., Stamford.

Philip Karel Kucera of Burr Ridge, Ill., a retired manager for the Jewel-Osco Grocery Store in the Chicago area, died Wednesday, July 31, at the Richard L. Rosenthal Hospice Residence at Stamford Hospital. He was 85.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born Jan. 20, 1917, in Chicago, he was the son of the late Fred and Rose Breitweiser Kucera.
Mr. Kucera lived in the Chicago area for most of his life. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S Army Airborne as a paratrooper. He was a member of the Czechoslovakia Society of America (CSA) and a former member of the Butchers Union Local in Chicago.
He is survived by a son, Philip Earl Kucera of Stamford; a daughter, Barbara Thomas of McKinney, Texas; a sister, Helen Kucera of Chicago; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Julia Frances Langer Kucera; two sisters, Mary Kucera and Anne Shunk; and a brother, Fred Kucera.

Mary Agnes Petro Kuran, a longtime Stamford resident and homemaker, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Stamford Hospital. She was 87.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Born Aug. 30, 1916, in Dunlo, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Susanna Jenoski Petro.
Mrs. Kuran lived in Stamford for 62 years. She loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John F. Kuran Sr. of Stamford; two daughters, Joanne L. Yarish of Stamford and Carol J. Ruscoe of Orlando, Fla.; a son, John F. Kuran Jr. of Norwalk; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Jane Kuran; and a brother, Walter Petro.

Gerhard "Gerry" Peter Kurth Jr., a Norwalk resident and a student at Norwalk Community College, died Sunday, March 2, at his home. He was 26.
The state medical examiner is investigating the cause of death, according to his family.
Born June 9, 1976 in Edison, N.J., he was the son of Gerhard P. Kurth Sr. of Stamford, and the late Carol Ann Jaroszewski Kurth.
Mr. Kurth graduated from Greenwich High School.
While working towards a degree at Norwalk Community College, he worked at Shoreline Pools in Stamford.
He was an avid bodybuilder, who enjoyed skiing. He looked forward to a career in veterinary medicine.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a stepmother, Joanne Naglieri Kurth of Stamford; two brothers, Anthony Kurth of Stamford, and Darren August Kurth of Honolulu; two sisters, Pamela Ann Kurth-Botnick of Providence, R.I., and Rebecca Renata Kurth of Stamford; a paternal grandfather, Henry Kurth and a step-grandmother, Evelyn Kurth, both of Lake in the Hills, Ill.; two step-sisters, Michelle Heym of Atlanta, Ga.; and Lisa Hawkins of Ridgefield.

Carol Janet Kurtzman Hartman Hall, a lifelong Norwalk resident, died Saturday, June 7, at Norwalk Hospital. She was 64.
She died of complications from pneumonia, according to her family.
Born Jan. 19, 1939, in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Charlotte Kelly Kurtzman.
She was a comptroller at Suburban Cadillac in Stamford and a former comptroller at Bob Sharp Motors in Wilton. Mrs. Hall enjoyed traveling and was an avid NASCAR fan and caretaker of retired greyhounds.
She is survived by her husband, Keith S. Hall of Norwalk; a stepdaughter, Shannon Hall of Naples, Fla.; a stepson, Keith Hall of Naples; and three grandchildren, two aunts and six cousins.

Robert G. "Bob" Kweskin, a lifelong Stamford resident and retired Greenwich police officer, died Sunday, Jan. 18, at home. He was 79.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born July 10, 1924, in Stamford, he was the son of the late Peter and Bess Bunis Kweskin.
Mr. Kweskin served in the Greenwich Police Department for 20 years, retiring in 1973.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He was a member of the Elks Club Lodge 899 in Stamford, the Glenbrook Athletic Club and the Retired Greenwich Police Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Lotstein of Stamford and Sally Vogler of Indian Hills, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice Irene Ritchie Kweskin; and a son, Kenneth Kweskin.
There will be no calling hours.

Ralph Louis Labozzo Jr., a salesman and lifelong resident of the Springdale section of Stamford, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, at his home. He was 76.
He died of cancer, according to his family.
Born Jan. 27, 1927, in Stamford, he was a son of the late Ralph and Maria Louisa Labozzo, originally of Foggia, Italy.
Mr. Labozzo graduated in 1944 from Stamford High School, where he was active in the Italian Club.
In January 1945, he entered into active duty in the U.S. Navy. After completing recruit training in Sampson, N.Y., and Navy PT School in Melville, R.I., he was stationed in Bayonne, N.J.
In 1945, he held the rank of fireman first class and was awarded the American Theater Medal and the Victory Medal. He re-enlisted in 1946 for an additional four years in class V-6 USNR as fireman first class.
He was honorably discharged and became a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Stamford.
For 56 years, Mr. Labozzo worked at the Hatch & Bailey Lumber Co. in Stamford, where he was a salesman and later a manager.
He belonged to the Fairfield Builder's Association and was an original member of the Springdale Athletic Club. He was an honorary member of the Piedmont Club in Darien.
Mr. Labozzo was an avid golfer who played in the Stamford Industrial League at E. Gaynor Brennan Municipal Golf Course. He also was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Angela Moreno Labozzo of Stamford; two daughters, Pamela Blair of Wilton and Patricia Labozzo Weiner of South Salem, N.Y.; a son, Ralph Louis Labozzo III of Enfield; a brother, Victor Labozzo of Darien; two sisters, Lee Masone and Jane Wasco, both of Stamford; and one grandchild.
He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Labozzo.

Mrs. Lachman was a homemaker.

Mary Moore LaCroix of Wallingford, a retired Stamford teacher, died Monday, Sept. 22, at Masonicare of Wallingford. She was 90.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Born Aug. 8, 1913, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Eleanor and James Moore.
Mrs. LaCroix graduated from Stamford High School in 1929 and from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., in 1933. She returned to Stamford after graduation, teaching English for the Stamford Board of Education for 35 years. She taught at Rogers Junior High School Cloonan and Turn of River middle schools, before moving into private tutoring.
She was an active member of Union Memorial Church in Stamford and North Congregational Church in Watertown. She also volunteered for local and national charitable organizations.
She is survived by a daughter, Eleanor Cavanaugh Yosua of North Haven; a son, John Cavanaugh of Wethersfield; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward M. LaCroix.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, is handling arrangements.
