October 22, 2002 Ruth O. McNamara, of Delaware, Ohio, formerly of Stamford, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio. She was 88. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born July 12, 1914, in the Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bertha Waldren Ormond. Mrs. McNamara moved to Ohio from Stamford five years ago.She worked as a secretary, and enjoyed playing bingo and watching movies. She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline McNamara of Delaware, Ohio; a sister, Marian Thompson of West Hartford; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Thomas McNamara in 1971; and by her sister, Helen Baker. November 21, 2002 Wilma T. Brudnak McNamara of Stamford, a retired secretary, died Monday, Nov. 18, at home. She was 81. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Jan. 19, 1921, in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Stupak Brudnak. Mrs. McNamara was a retired secretary for Stanford Technology in Stamford. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, the former St. Joseph's Hospital and Connecticut Hospice, all in Stamford. She was also a member of AARP. She is survived by two sons, Robert McNamara of Stamford and Brian McNamara of Newtown Square, Pa.; a daughter, Leslie Leahy of Reading, Mass.; a sister, Mary McAuliffe of Stuart, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Monsignor William Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Michael's cemeteryin Stratford. December 16, 2002 Shirley Louise Conyers McNeil of Wilton, a homemaker, died Friday, Dec. 13 in Norwalk Hospital. She was 72. She died of complications of kidney disease, according to a family friend. Born Feb. 2, 1930 in Sumter, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Roland C. Wright and Celia May Conyers.Mrs. McNeil was a mother, homemaker and friend. She lived in Wilton for three years and in New York City before that. She is survived by three children whom she raised, Elizabeth J. Bonan of South Norwalk, Didi Adelson of New York City and Charles S. Bonan of Greenwich; a dear friend, Janet R. Bonan of Greenwich; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Frank McNeil. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Downer Funeral Home, 75 East Ave., Norwalk. A service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the First Congregational Church on the Green, Park and Lewis streets on the town green in Norwalk. September 5, 2003 John M. McNeill of Portsmouth, R.I., a former Stamford resident and business owner, died Sunday, Aug. 31, at Newport Hospital in Newport, R.I. He was 70. He died of complications from lung and heart disease, according to his family. Born June 18, 1933, in Birmingham, Mich., he was a son of the late Thomas W. and Helen M. McNeill. Mr. McNeill lived in Pittsburgh from 1941 to 1954. He attended Penn State University and graduated in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. After graduation, he served 2 1/2 years in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant in 1958. Mr. McNeill began his professional career as a sales representative for Olin Corp. based in New York. He left the company as its manager of marketing in 1969 to start a Stamford-based company, National Cryo-Chemics Inc.. At National Cryo-Chemics, he worked with the oil industry to enhance oil recovery. He developed and patented a method for extracting oil from wells in which the pressure had declined to a point where natural means failed to bring it out. The portable plant Mr. McNeill created was used by Chevron, Exxon and Mobil. His invention garnered him a listing in the 1975-76 edition of Who's Who in the East Coast. While in Stamford, he was an active member of the Stamford Yacht Club, rising to fleet captain as a flag officer. He was race chairman of the club's Stamford-Vineyard Race, an annual event on Labor Day weekend. Mr. McNeill moved from Stamford to Marina Del Ray, Calif. in 1986 and then to Portsmouth in October 1998. He is survived by his stepmother, Mary Hiss of Del Rey Beach, Fla.; a sister, Nancy Dodgson of Atlanta.; two half-brothers, Jim McNeill of Doylestown, Pa. and Tom McNeill of Atlanta; a half-sister, Jeanne Kaulakis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a son, Sean Butler of Newport; a daughter, Regan McNeill Ural of Mill Valley, Calif.; his former wife, Sheila H. McNeill of Carpinteria, Calif.; and a grandchild. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at St. John Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk. November 29, 2001 John C. McNerney, a Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, at home. He was 98. He died of natural causes, according to his family. Born Dec. 8, 1902, in Plantsville, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Mary McNerney. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Dr. McNerney was a neurosurgeon at Stamford Hospital. He is survived by a sister, Marie Lacey of Southington; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn McNerney; and his second wife, Katherine McNerney; and his brothers James McNerney and William McNerney. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Holy Spirit Church, Scofieldtown Road, Stamford. Anthony J. McNulty June 29, 2004 Anthony J. McNulty, a longtime Stamford resident, died Monday, June 28, at Greenwich Hospital. He was 82. He died due to complications from a stroke, according to his family. Born March 18, 1922, in New York City, he was a son of the late Anthony J. and Catherine Jordan McNulty. Mr. McNulty was a New York police detective for 22 years before retiring in 1967. He later worked as a security supervisor at Clairol Inc. for 17 years until his retirement in 1984. Mr. McNulty was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Stamford, an officer of the American Society for Industrial Security, and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Lafayette Assembly, Stamford. He served as a master of ceremonies and producer of the Kacey Kapers, a musical variety show put on by the Knights of Columbus in the late 1950s. Mr. McNulty also was an avid golfer. He and his wife enjoyed spending summers at their home in Belgrade Lake, Maine. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Donaghey McNulty of Stamford; two daughters, Moira A. McNulty and Megan A. McNulty, both of Stamford; a brother, Michael A. McNulty of Flushing, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. June 14, 2003 Raymond S. McPhee of Norwalk died Friday, June 13, at home. He was 78. He died of complications from a stroke, according to his family. Born May 28, 1925, in Stamford, he was the son of the late John and Louise Sedine McPhee. Mr. McPhee grew up in Stamford and lived in Norwalk for most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal. He had worked as a maintenance supervisor for Brooks Community Newspapers and also had been a truck driver for Pepperidge Farms and Frank J. Byrns Moving and Storage. He is survived by two sons, John McPhee of Waccabuc, N.Y., and William McPhee of Fairfield; a sister, Eleanor Schuman of Highlands Ranch, Col.; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his caretaker, Linda Dawson of Norwalk. He was predeceased by his wife, Lee Honnessy McPhee. August 15, 2002 C. Bruce McQueen of Milford, a former Stamford resident who worked in communications, died Monday, Aug. 12, at the Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center in Stratford. He was 52. His cause of death is undetermined, according to the funeral home. Born July 23, 1950, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late Carl B. and Harriet Ford McQueen. Mr. McQueen graduated from Stamford Catholic High School in 1968 and from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, where he studied communications. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He also was a former board member and past president of the Disability Resource Center in Stratford. He is survived by a sister, Charlene McQueen of Tucson, Ariz.; an uncle, Thomas Ford of Bricktownship, N.J.; and many cousins. There will be no calling hours. Jean C. Mehr June 18, 2004 Jean C. Mehr, a longtime Norwalk resident, died Tuesday, June 15, at Norwalk Hospital. She was 74. She died of complications from cancer, according to her family. Born Feb. 7, 1930, in Norwalk, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Margaret McWhirter Broadhurst. Mrs. Mehr graduated from Darien High School in 1947. She is survived by two daughters, Lenore Kalotai of Bridgeport and Laraine Mehr-Turlis of Norwalk; a sister, Margaret Eva Vasilakos of Darien; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Mehr; and a brother, George R. Broadhurst. There will be no calling hours. Vincent L. Meli September 9, 2003 Vincent L. Meli of Sebastian, Fla., a former Stamford resident, died Saturday, Sept. 6 at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian, Fla. He was 90. He died of natural causes, according to his family. Born June 20, 1913, in New York City, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Volpe Meli. Mr. Meli lived in Stamford until 1980, when he moved to Florida. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired service manager who worked in White Plains, N.Y., at Hobart Corp., an industrial kitchen supply company. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Woodland of Sebastian, Fla.; three sisters, Theresa Angelini of Boca Raton, Fla., and Mary Fiore and Virginia Passaro, both of Stamford; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Genevieve White Meli. A memorial service and burial were private and took place in Sebastian, Fla. December 5, 2002 Mark Jeffrey Melzer of Stamford died Tuesday, Dec. 3, at home. He was 46. He died of heart failure, according to his family. Born Oct. 30, 1956, in Pensacola, Fla., he was the son of Franklin and Sondra Melzer of Stamford. Mr. Melzer had been a lawyer in Stamford. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Francesca Melzer; and a sister, Melissa Montero of Bellevue, Wash. A funeral will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 6, at Leo P. Mary A. Memoli June 22, 2004 Mary Ann Memoli of Saco, Maine, a former Stamford resident, died Sunday, June 20, at the Monarch Center of Saco. She was 88. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Sept. 8, 1915, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Michele and Domenica Lobibaro Giordano. Mrs. Memoli lived in Stamford for most of her life until moving to Saco three years ago. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Stamford, where she participated in its Rosary Society and served as treasurer of its senior club. She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Tiani of Ridgefield, Patricia Kennedy of Granby and Adrienne MacPhie of Scarborough, Maine; a brother, Jerry Giordano of Stamford; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Frank Memoli; a sister, Angelina Sacco; and two brothers, Sgt. Joseph Giordano and Angelo Giordano. James V. Mennona September 8, 2003 James V. Mennona, a lifelong Stamford resident and retired truck driver, died Saturday, Sept. 6, at Stamford Hospital. He was 77. He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family. Born July 21, 1926, in Stamford, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Catherine Seymour Mennona. Mr. Mennona worked for 41 years as a truck driver for Rings End Lumber in Darien. He was a member of Teamsters Local 191. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned a Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Darien. Mr. Mennona was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Stamford. October 10, 2002 Katherine "Kay" Trimboli Mercadante of Spring Hill, Fla., a former Stamford resident, died Friday, Oct. 4, at Hernando Hospice Care Center in Brooksville, Fla. She was 89. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born March 24, 1913, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Giovanina Petrosino Trimboli. Mrs. Mercadante worked for Booth Aircraft Corps of Norwalk as a quality control supervisor until her retirement in 1978. She was a lifetime member of St. Theresa's Women's Guild and a member of St. Theresa's Church in Spring Hill. She is survived by a daughter, Giovanna "Gigi" Bognar of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Anna Trimboli of Spring Hill and Theresa Conners of Stamford; a brother, Albert Trimboli of Centereach, N.Y.; and a granddaughter. She was predeceased by her former husband, Daniel Mercadante; and a son, Vincent Daniel Mercadante. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Nicholas F. Ocianie Mercius June 18, 2004 The burial place for Ocianie Mercius of Stamford has been changed to Spring Grove cemeteryin Darien, following a funeral service at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at French Speaking Baptist Church, 28 Adams, Ave., Stamford. Calling hours will precede the service from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Mrs. Mercius died Friday, June 11, at Stamford Hospital. She was 81.

Norma K. Meresco October 13, 2003 Norma Kirshenbaum Meresco of Stamford, a retired school teacher, died Saturday, Oct. 11, at Haven Health Care Center in Stamford. She was 95. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Aug. 2, 1908, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Pincus and Dena Weiss Kirshenbaum. Mrs. Meresco taught elementary school for 30 years in the Bronx, N.Y. She loved classical music and the arts. She was active in the Nathan Straus Jewish Center and Hadassah, both in Bronx, N.Y. She moved to Stamford seven years ago. Mrs. Meresco is survived by a daughter, Linda Bloom of Stamford; a son, Donald Meresco of the Bronx; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Meresco; two sisters, Cele Goldsmith and Kay Press; and four brothers, Abe Kirshenbaum, Jack Kirshenbaum, Mac Kirshenbaum and Ralph Elliott. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m., today, Oct. 13, at Agudath Sholom cemeteryon West Hill Road in Stamford. The family will receive friends this week the home of Linda Bloom. Born Dec. 21, 1918 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Kijek. Mrs. Meyer was a communicant and parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford. She is survived by her husband, Paul Meyer of Stamford; three sons, Paul Peter Meyer Jr. of Poca, W.Va., Richard Allan Meyer of Jewett City and Ronald Benjamin Meyer of Stratford; a daughter, Jan Anne Meyer of Stamford; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers, Stanley Kijek, John Kijek, Chester Kijek, Frank Kijek and Joseph Kijek; and five sisters, Tessie Serafin, Dorothy Lionetti, Nellie Ekstowicz, Francis Rutkowski and Josephine Surwilo. January 3, 2002 Margaret W. Millen of New Canaan, died Sunday, Dec. 30, at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan. She was 94. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Jan. 26, 1907 in Wallingford, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Carrie Bryant Wooding. She graduated from the Stamford Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at the hospital and at Courtland Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Millen lived much of her life in Stamford and in West Harwich, Mass., where she retired. She is survived by her daughter, Mona Millen of New Canaan; her son, Ian Millen of New Hartford, N.Y. and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Millen. November 23, 2002 Florence Jayes Miller, a longtime Darien resident, died Thursday, Nov. 21, at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan. She was 94. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born April 20, 1908, in Port Jefferson, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late John William and Ella Feltman Jayes. Mrs. Miller was a Darien resident since 1930. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Darien and the Daughters of the Nile in Darien. She is survived by two sons, Robert Miller of Gloversville, N.Y., and Paul Miller of Tribes Hill, N.Y.; a daughter, Lynn Dennis of Darien; and nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Abraham Miller; and a sister, Winifred Bates. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. The Rev. Tony Gibson of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, 988 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820 or to Post 53 Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 2066, Darien, CT 06820. Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, is handling arrangements.
