Robert John "Bob" Richards a sales planner and Norwalk resident died Monday, Sept. 1 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 56.
He died of a heart attack according to his family.
Born Sept. 17, 1946, in Arnold, Penn., he was a son of the late John and Olga Lubczyk Richards.
Mr. Richards graduated from Penn State University with a business degree in 1968 and was a veteran pilot of the Vietnam War, serving as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
He has been associated with the R.H. Donnelly Corporation for 20 years as a sales planner and assistant vice president of operations.
He was an avid golfer and a member of the Oronoque Country Club in Stratford. He was also a former vice president and treasurer of the Brien McMahon High School Football Booster Club in Norwalk.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Joanne Rossiter Richards of Norwalk; a son, Matthew Robert Richards of Norwalk; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other family members.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 7, at the United Church of Rowayton, 210 Rowayton Ave., Rowayton with Rev. John Livingston officiating.

Hope Richardson, formerly Hope MacDonald, a longtime Norwalk resident and retired social worker, died Friday, Jan. 3, at Astoria Park Nursing Home in Bridgeport. She was 83.
She died of cancer, according to her family.
Born April 8, 1919, in Bangor, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Grace Tupper Newman.
Mrs. Richardson was raised in Maine, Massachusetts and Orlando, Fla. She attended the Boston Girls Latin School in Cambridge, Mass. She received a bachelor's degree from Bates College and a master of social work degree from Simmons College.
She worked at Worcester Family Services Agency in Worcester, Mass., and McLean Psychiatric Hospital in Belmont, Mass., before moving to Connecticut in the early 1960s. She worked as a psychiatric social worker at Hall-Brooke Hospital in Westport, the Dubois Center in Stamford and in private practice. She also was a school social worker for Roton Middle School, Brien McMahon High School and Brookside Elementary School, all in Norwalk, for more than 15 years.
She returned to work part time at Coastal Fairfield County Convention and Visitor Bureau in Norwalk at the age of 80, learning computer data-entry skills.
Mrs. Richardson was an active volunteer, most recently with Mid-Fairfield Hospice Inc. in Wilton and Voluntary Services for the Blind of Fairfield County in Darien. She was an avid hot-air balloon enthusiast.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Laura MacDonald of Helena, Mont.; and a daughter-in-law, Linda MacDonald of Helena.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Thomas Richardson; and a son, Robert MacDonald.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Community Baptist Church, 105 East Ave., Norwalk.

Horst Richter, a longtime Stamford resident, died Wednesday, June 23, at Stamford Hospital. He was 78.
He died of heart failure, according to his family.
Born Feb. 22, 1926, in Greifenberg, Germany, he was a son of the late Bruno Richter and Marta Kühn Richter.
Mr. Richter lived in Stamford for 46 years.
He owned and operated American Precision Tool Co. in Stamford and later was manager of manufacturing at Z-Loda Systems Engineering Inc. in Stamford until he retired in 1991.
Mr. Richter was an honorary member of the German Club in Stamford for 45 years. He was club president for 17 years.
He was a supporter of the Stamford Youth Soccer League, serving as a coach and referee for many years.
Mr. Richter is survived by his wife of 51 years, Edith Meyer Richter of Stamford; a son, Thomas Richter of Stamford; a daughter, Petra Cogliano of Stamford; a brother, Heinz Richter of Germany; and a granddaughter.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 28, at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Long Ridge Union cemeteryin North Stamford.
Valdemiro M. Ricioppo

Valdemiro Mario Ricioppo, a lifelong resident of Cerzeto, Italy, died Thursday, Nov. 13, at home. He was 88.
He died of heart and kidney failure, according to his family.
He was born April 6, 1915, in Cerzeto, Italy.
Mr. Ricioppo is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mariangela Lorfida Ricioppo of Cerzeto, Italy; two sons, Alfonzo Ricioppo of Cerzeto, Italy and Quintino Ricioppo of Stamford; four daughters, Alma Ricioppo, Franca Ricioppo and Lina Ricioppo, all of Cerzeto, Italy and Emilia Ricioppo of Piacenza, Italy; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 15, in Cerzeto, Italy. He was buried in Cerzeto, Italy.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at St. Mary's Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford.

Philip H. Rider, a former Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, at Pocopson Home in West Chester, Pa. He was 92.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born April 11, 1910, in Denver, he was a son of the late Everett and Frances Foot Rider.
Mr. Rider graduated from the University of Colorado in 1932 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a supervisor for the former Tidewater Oil Co. for more than 32 years . He went on to serve as financial planning officer at State National Bank in Stamford until retiring at age 65.
He is survived by two daughters, Marjorie MacDonough of Ardmore, Pa., and Nancy R. Strawbridge of Malvern, Pa.; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Gove Rider; and a brother, Robert Rider.
Services will be private.

William J. Ries, a Stamford resident, died Thursday, Jan. 30, at Stamford Hospital. He was 77.
He died of complications from stomach cancer, according to his family.
Born May 7, 1925, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late William Arthur and Mildred Wurst Ries.
Mr. Ries was valedictorian of the 1943 St. Louis University High School class. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy as an ensign during World War II. He was enrolled in the U.S. Naval V-12 program at University of Kansas. He then went to Midshipman School in Chicago. His tour of duty included Florida, Japan and Pearl Harbor.
Mr. Ries lived in Clayton, Mo.; Wilmette, Ill.; Pittsburgh; Akron, Ohio, and Shaker Heights, Ohio, before moving to Stamford 1969.
Mr. Ries worked as a sales and marketing manager for Monsanto Co. of St. Louis and then Harshaw Chemical Co. of Cleveland. After moving to Stamford he worked in sales and marketing as eastern manager for Chem-Tech Industries.
After his retirement in 1994, he continued to work as a marketing consultant for several companies.
While living in Stamford he was an active member of the Christian Family Movement for more than 15 years. He was a founding member and first chairman of Emmaus Community of St. Maurice Church in 1972. He was a volunteer server at New Covenant House of Hospitality of Stamford. He was the past president of the North Stamford Association and was a board member of Residents for Appropriate Development of Greenwich. He was the co-chairman of the Consolidation of Neighborhood Associations.
He loved to travel with his wife. He visited 47 states and many foreign countries. He enjoyed sightseeing, museums, churches and historic sites.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Eby" Anne Burroughs Ries of Stamford; four daughters, Robin Carol Bojorquez of Columbia, Conn., Celeste Anne Martin of Weehawken, N.J., Maria Jean Raymond of St. Louis and Elizabeth Jane Allyn of Stamford; four sons, William Burroughs Ries of London, England, Michael Powers Ries of New Haven, Timothy Carter Ries of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Peter Bohmann Ries of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Andrew Ries and Charles Ries, both of St. Louis; and 15 grandchildren.
No calling hours are planned.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, at St. Maurice Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford.
Interment will be private.

Lloyd S. Riley Sr., a World War II veteran and retired truck driver, died Saturday, June 21, at his home in Southbury. He was 83.
He died of colorectal cancer, according to his family.
Born Oct. 24, 1919 in Port Huron, Mich., he was the son of the late Lloyd and Anna Summers Riley.
Mr. Riley served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in Europe during the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Riley lived in Stamford for 46 years before moving to Danbury. He settled in Southbury in 2000.
He had worked as a truck driver for Independent Oil Co. of Stamford. He was a member Teamsters Local 191 in Bridgeport.
He enjoyed the outdoors and camping.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Antoinette Bombardieri Riley of Southbury; a son, Lloyd Riley Jr. of New Milford; a daughter, Barbara Kinzig of New Fairfield; three brothers, John Riley of Newburgh, N.Y., Richard Riley of Burlington Flats, N.Y. and James Riley of Stamford; two sisters, Marion Brooks of Bridgeton, N.J. and Catherine Romano of Stamford; and two grandsons.
He was predeceased by a sister, Janet Farina, in 2002.

Olgerts Ripa, a longtime Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Stamford Hospital. He was 90.
He died of complications from a broken hip, according to his family.
Born Dec. 21, 1912, in Latvia, he was the son of the late Martins and Berta Ripa.
Mr. Ripa lived in Stamford for 43 years. During the 1960s, he was employed as a research chemist with American Cyanamid, now known as Cytec Industries in Stamford, retiring after 18 years. He enjoyed reading.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Ripa of Stamford; a son, John Ripa of Danbury; two daughters, Aija Horton of Batavia, Ill., and Ruta Weber of Ridgefield; a sister, Biruta Skomba of Toronto; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.

Julia Riska of St. Petersburg, Fla., a former longtime Stamford resident, died Sunday, Sept. 21, at Crystal Oaks of Pinellas in Pinellas Park, Fla. She was 92.
She died of heart failure, according to her family.
Born Aug. 26, 1911, in Greenwich, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eva Slink.
Mrs. Riska lived in Stamford for about 45 years, retiring to Port Charlotte, Fla., in 1976. She moved to St. Petersburg in 1994. She had worked for many years at Machlett Laboratories, formerly in Stamford, as an assembler.
She is survived by a son, John Riska of Danbury; a daughter, Patricia Riska of Stamford; a sister, Helen McNally of New Jersey; a granddaughter; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Julius Riska.
A graveside service will be held at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford for Julia and Julius Riska at a later date.

Antoinette Petruzzi Rissolo, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Milford Hospital. She was 83.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Born May 12, 1919, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Ann Marie Sabia Petruzzi.
Mrs. Rissolo was an employee of Southern New England Telephone Co. in Stamford for 20 years until retiring in 1982.
She is survived by three daughters, Beverly Kibbe of Farmington, Linda Middlebrooks of Ansonia and Karen Rissolo of Milford; three sons, Leonard R. Rissolo Jr. of Wilmington, Del., Kenneth A. Rissolo of New Milford and Roger A. Rissolo of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Lucy McManus of Norwalk; and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard R. Rissolo; and three sisters, Jennie Bruno, Mary Barcello and Mildred Rissolo.

Raymond "Ray" Ritter, a longtime Stamford resident and retired owner of Ray's Service Station in Stamford, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, at Stamford Hospital. He was 92.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Born Dec. 12, 1910, in Boyertown, Pa., he was the son of the late Hickman and Carrie Keller Ritter.
Mr. Ritter had been a Stamford resident for the past 63 years. He owned and operated Ray's Service Station in Stamford for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Stamford.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Dorsch of Stamford.
He was predeceased by his wife, Miriam Gerloff Ritter.

Noemi Rivera, a 33-year Stamford resident, died Friday, Dec. 7 at home. She was 41.
She died of suicide, according to her family.
Born Jan. 3, 1960 in Lares, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of Minerva Soto Rivera of Stamford and the late Jose A. Rivera.
Ms. Rivera graduated from Westhill High School and was a volunteer at Laurel Home for seniors in Stamford. She was devoted to the Catholic church, and often attended St. John's in downtown Stamford.
Besides her mother, she is survived by five sisters, Maria Guittierez of Homestead, Fla., Ana Rivera of Stamford, Miriam Rodrigues of Stamford, Nilsa Camacho of Puerto Rico and Rosie Valez of Stamford; three brothers, Guillermo Rivera of Homestead, Fla., Jose A. Rivera of Stamford and Rodrigo Rivera of Stamford; and 30 nieces and nephews.

James A. Rizzi, who lived in Westport for 50 years, died Monday, Feb. 3, at home. He was 76.
He died of complications from a stroke, according to his family.
Born May 25, 1926, in Norwalk, he was a son of the late John and Concetta Rizzi.
Before he retired in 1995, Mr. Rizzi owned and operated James A. Rizzi Construction Co. in Westport for 40 years.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a machinist mate and diver.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diana Rizzi of Westport; two daughters, Donna M. Lysobey of Westport and Paige M. Kousidis of Newtown; two sons, James B. Rizzi of Norwalk and John J. Rizzi of Easton; two sisters, Nancy DiBartolomeo and Eleanor Vaccaro, both of Norwalk; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Rizzi; and a sister, Caroline Fontaine.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave., Westport.

Patricia M. Roach

Patricia M. "Trisha" Roach of New York City, a travel agent, died Sunday, Sept. 21, at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City. She was 53.
She died of lymphoma, according to her family.
Born Dec. 8, 1949, in New York City, she was the daughter of Everett J. Roach and Evelyn Roach, both of Stamford.
Miss Roach graduated from the College of New Rochelle. She worked for more than 20 years as a travel agent with Liberty Travel in New York City.
A longtime resident of the Chelsea section of New York City, Miss Roach was an active member and past officer of the Chelsea West 200 Block Association and a member of the Chelsea Reform Democratic Club. She was a county Democratic committeeman and a member of the Ninth Avenue and Potluck groups in Chelsea.
She enjoyed traveling and windsurfing. An avid gardener, she planted lilacs in the neighborhood flowerbeds, which she tended.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Anne E. Hunter of Chester, N.Y., and Marian A. Benassi of Rancho Sante Fe, Calif.; a brother, Everett J. Roach Jr. of La Jolla, Calif.; two nieces; five nephews; an uncle; two aunts; and numerous cousins.

Edwin F. Roberts of Vero Beach, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 11, at Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach. He was 91.
He died of heart failure, according to his family.
Born April 20, 1911, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late Mamie Girard and Paul Roberts.
Mr. Roberts was employed at American Home Products in New York City, now Wyeth. He retired as president of Ives Cameron Pharmaceuticals, a division of American Home Products, in 1967.
For the past 20 years he had divided his time between Vero Beach and Stamford. He was a lifetime member of the Lions Club in Stamford and Vero Beach. He was a member of Holy Cross Church in Vero Beach and the Church of the Holy Spirit in Stamford.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Roberts of Vero Beach; a son, Edwin F. Roberts Jr. of Grand Lake Stream, Maine; two daughters, April Roberts Kapusta and Paula Roberts, both of Milford; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Violet Waugh Roberts of North Wilkesboro, N.C., a former Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center in North Wilkesboro. She was 82.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Born March 29, 1921, in North Wilkesboro, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison Waugh and Daisy Eugene Smith Waugh.
Mrs. Roberts lived in Stamford from 1964 to 1980. She worked at Sterling Drugs, formerly in Stamford, for about 15 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Stamford for many years.
After retiring to North Wilkesboro, she worked as a nanny. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro, where she sang in the Adult and Senior choirs and taught Sunday school.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Kay Green of Goodyear, Ariz.; four sons, Edward Brent Roberts and Larry Eugene Roberts, both of Stamford, James Frederick Roberts of North Wilkesboro and Lloyd Douglas Roberts of Raleigh, N.C.; four sisters, Charlene Bynum of Greenwich, and Martha Kate Barnes, Betsy Carver and Martinez Ferguson, all of North Wilkesboro; two brothers, Danny Waugh and Dudley Waugh, both of North Wilkesboro; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Arthur Roberts; two sisters, Rebecca Ford and Ella Ruth; and three brothers, Bruce Waugh, Sonny Waugh and Kent Morgan Waugh.

Tetcell "Robbie" Robinson, a longtime Stamford resident, died Wednesday, July 31, at a hospice in Herndon, Va. He was 56.
He died of cancer, according to his family.
Born Jan. 7, 1946, in Westmoreland, Jamaica, he was a son of Ann Robinson of Jamaica and the late Harold Robinson.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Velee Robinson of Herndon, Va.; two sons, Michael Robinson and Gary Robinson, both of Jamaica; five daughters, Annette Robinson and Chevy Robinson, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Jennifer Robinson and Jordonna Robinson, both of Norwalk, and Stacy Robinson of Jamaica; two sisters, Gloria Robinson of Norwalk and Angela Robinson of Bridgeport; two brothers, Horace Robinson of Toronto, Canada, and Alfred Robinson of Westmoreland, Jamaica; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Helen Brown Rogers of Bridgeport, formerly of Stamford, died Thursday, Oct. 9, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. She was 43.
She died of cardiac arrest, according to her family.
Born July 25, 1960, in Stamford, she was a daughter of Para Lee Brown of Norwalk and the late France Brown.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three daughters, Kera Rogers, Karissa Rogers and Karena Rogers, all of Bridgeport; a step-son, Cedric Rogers of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters, Shirley Brown of Norwalk and Sharon Brown of Albany, Ga.; a brother, James Brown of Albany.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Christ the Redeemer Missionary Baptist Church, 785 Boston Ave., Bridgeport. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.
Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Park Cemetery, 620 Lindley St., Bridgeport.

Maureen Murphy Rogers, Stamford resident, died Sunday, Feb. 2, at Stamford Hospital. She was 48.
She died of a cerebral hemorrhage, according to her family.
Born Oct. 6, 1954, in Rochester, N.Y., she was the daughter of Eva Patrick of Rochester, N.Y., and the late James Murphy.
Prior to moving to Stamford three years ago, Mrs. Murphy lived in Rochester.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, James P. Rogers Jr. of Stamford; a brother, James Murphy of Rochester; two step-sons, Daniel Rogers of St. Louis, and Andrew Rogers of Denver; a niece and a nephew.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.
A memorial service will follow calling hours at the funeral home.
Burial will be private.

J. Forbes Rogers

J. Forbes Rogers, M.D., a retired surgeon, formerly of Darien, died Monday, June 14, at the Bentley Village Care Center in Naples, Fla. He was 88.
He died of pneumonia, according to his family.
Born Nov. 4, 1915, in Clifton, N.J., he was a son of the late James and Welhelmina Rogers.
Dr. Rogers received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in 1942 and practiced surgery at Stamford Hospital for 45 years. Before joining Stamford Hospital in 1951, he served as a medical officer on the USS Poughkeepsie for escort duty on convoys during World War II.
After the war, he did his residency in surgery at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Dr. Rogers was surgeon-in-chief of Stamford Hospital from 1973 until 1977 and assisted in the hospital's Surgical Residency Program until 1995.
He was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Medical Association, the Connecticut Society of American Board Surgeons, the Connecticut Medical Society, the Fairfield County Medical Society and the Stamford Medical Society. He was an associate clinical professor of surgery of New York Medical College. Dr. Rogers was a member of the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien.
Dr. Rogers is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maydee Rogers of Naples; two sons, James F. "Rod" Rogers Jr. of Shillington, Pa., and John S. Rogers of Southbury; a daughter, Deana Rogers Ruffell of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; a brother, Dr. Charles Rogers of Pensacola, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1882 Post Road, Darien.The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Stamford Hospital Health Foundation, 2015 W. Frances M. Rogers

Frances M. Rogers, a lifelong Norwalk resident, died Thursday, Jan. 8, at Norwalk Hospital. She was 79.
She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Nov. 21, 1924, in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Bronislaw and Stanislawa Wrotny Garcziynski.
Mrs. Rogers was employed by Pepperidge Farm in Norwalk for many years, before her retirement in 1990.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda McNamara of Stamford and Leslie Blauvelt of Bethel; two granddaughters; a nephew and several nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Norman V. Rogers; and a daughter, Sharon Rogers.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.
A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13 at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk.
Burial will be private.
