Frank Walter Lemanski Sr.
KENSINGTON - Frank Walter Lemanski Sr., 80, of Homecrest Drive, the husband of Jennie Eva (Procko) Lemanski of Kensington, died Tuesday (June 26, 2001) at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington. Born in Kensington, the son of the late Valentine and the late Rosalia (Perzan) Lemanski, he attended schools in New Britain, served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII, and was employed at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford until his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul Church, and V.F.W. Post #511 in New Britain. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Gerald Charamut of Berlin, two brothers, Joseph Lemanski of Granby, and Walter Lemanski of Plainville, a sister, Genevieve Pustelnik of New Britain, three grandchildren, Richard, Thomas, and Daniel Charamut, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Frank W. Lemanski Jr. Funeral services will Friday at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Hwy. in Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial with military honors will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8pm.

Andrew F. Mascola
Andrew F. Mascola, 79, of Kensington, husband of Margaret “Peggy” (Vergano) Mascola, died Monday afternoon (April 22, 2002) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Rocco and the late Madeline (Petrucelli) Mascola, he graduated from St. Mary’s School, New Britain High School, and the Moody School of Commerce, served in the US Army in WWII, and was a self-employed real estate broker. He was a member of St. Paul’s Church, and V.F.W. Post #10732. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Frederick Mascola, and his special friend, Barbara Molusis of Old Saybrook, two sisters, Lucille Korby of Plainville, and Rosemarie Simmone of Old Saybrook, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday (April 26, 2002) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday (April 25, 2002) from 5-8pm. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to Kidney Foundation of Connecticut, Inc., 920 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford 06107.

Matilda “Tilda” (Tura) Mattioli
Matilda “Tilda” (Tura) Mattioli, 85, wife of the late Harold P. Mattioli, died October 13, 2001, at a the Jerome Home in New Britain, after a long illness. Born in Kingston, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Louis P. and the late Olga (Giberti) Tura, she graduated Valedictorian from Kingston High School in 1934, and in 1938 from Radcliffe College, after which she was a Research Chemist for a private lab in Boston for several years prior to her marriage in 1942. She was also employed at the Emhart Headquarters in Farmington from 1975 to 1980. A 33 year resident of Simsbury, she previously lived in Northboro and Wakefield, Massachusetts, and was Past-President of the Northboro Girl Scouts, a member of Northboro PTA and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was also a former member and officer of the Worcester and Hartford Radcliffe Alumnae Clubs, and was an avid reader who enjoyed world travel and keeping current with world, national and state affairs. She received much pleasure from her gardens, bird watching and the companionship of her cats. She is survived by her son Peter H. Mattioli of Canton, MA. and daughter and son-in-law, Ann Mattioli and Frank Dobeck jr., of Kensington. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Simsbury, on Wednesday (Oct.17) at 10:30am. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Simsbury. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Kensington, CT. on Tuesday (Oct. 16) from 4-7pm. Those who wish may make donations in her memory to The Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT, 06111.

Shirley May (Givens) Monish
EAST HARTFORD – Shirley May (Givens) Monish, 69, formerly of East Hartford, died Thursday (August 16, 2001) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Hartford, she lived in East Hartford for many years before recently moving to Bristol, and was employed at Abbott Ball Company in West Hartford until her retirement in 1997. She is survived by two brothers, John Givens of West Hartford, and Mark Givens of Bridgewater, New Hampshire, two sisters, Meg Shine of Kensington, and Penny Harnish of West Springfield, Massachusetts, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. A graveside service will be held Wednesday (August 22, 2001) at 1pm in Wilcox Cemetery, East Berlin. There are no calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Porter’s Funeral Service in Kensington is in charge of arrangements.

Anne (Childress) Moore
FARMINGTON - Anne (Childress) Moore, 97, of Farmington, passed away Thursday (May 15, 2003) at the John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. The eldest of four daughters of the late Avent and Madeline Mackay Childress of Scarsdale, New York, she was a 1925 graduate of the Spence School in New York City, after which, she was a buyer for Bonwit Teller and a fashion model at Bergdorf Goodman, both in Manhattan. In 1929 she was married to Edward Gillette Selden, and was active in coordinating numerous events, theatrical performances and fashion shows for various charitable organizations. Mr. Selden died very young in 1938, leaving his wife and two small children. In 1941, Mrs. Moore (then Selden) married Dr. Gray Carter of Greenwich, just months before he joined the Yale Medical Team in the European Theater in WWII. After the war and they settled in Greenwich, CT where Dr. Carter continued his medical practice and became Chief of Staff at the Greenwich Hospital, and she was an active volunteer in the Greenwich community, working devotedly for the Greenwich Hospital Auxiliary, Christ Episcopal Church and St. Barnabas Church. Dr. Carter died in l968. In l973 she married Maxwell Moore of Farmington, in the First Church of Christ, Congregational, and they had many wonderful years of devoted marriage, spending time in their Farmington home, on Martha's Vineyard, and in Naples, Florida before she was widowed again in December1994. She continued her strong Christian support of the First Church, participating in many of the church's activities, and was also active in her summertime church, Union Chapel of Oak Bluffs, MA, where she was a member of the Board of Governors. She lived a full and vibrant life, and her great grace, charm and Christian spirit have enriched all who knew her. She is survived by scores of admiring friends and relations, including her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Norton Reed of Buffalo, New York, her son, Edward Gillette Selden, Jr. of Norwalk, her sister, Mary Adair Moore of North Carolina, her stepdaughter, Leslie Carter of Hampden, her step-children Benjamin and Paddy Moore, Martha Moore, Gay and Art Nelson, all of Martha's Vineyard, and Alexander and Mary Moore of Providence, Rhode Island, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and fifteen Moore step-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mrs. Thaddeus Edmund Beck Jr.(Madeline Childress) and Mrs. Peyton Claiborne Auxford (Sarah Childress). A memorial service will be held on Saturday (May 31, 2003) at 11:00 am at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, in Farmington. Internment will private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to First Church of Christ, Congregational, 75 Main Street, Farmington 06032.

Joseph F. Murphy
KENSINGTON – Joseph F. Murphy, 84, of 168 Ellwood Road, widower of Mary E. (Howell) Murphy, died Tuesday morning (September 11, 2001) at a local convalescent home. Born in Randolph, Massachusetts, he graduated from Bridgewater College, received his Master’s degree from Yale University, served in the US Army in WWII, and was employed as an Associate Director for the State of Connecticut for over twenty-five years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul Church, and the Kiwanis Club of Berlin. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Kathy Murphy of Chicago, Illinois, Dennis and Donna Murphy of Enfield, and Kevin and Cindy Murphy of Kensington, five grandchildren, Sean, Eric, Allison, and Kelly Murphy, Kathy Knight, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday at 9am from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Hwy. in Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul's Church. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Friday from 9am until the departure to church.

Cecelia Michalina (Josefiak) Nadal
KENSINGTON – Cecelia Michalina (Josefiak) Nadal, 90, of 302 Robbins Road, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandma, and friend, joined all who loved her in heaven on Saturday (November 10, 2001) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Ann Josefiak, and the devoted wife of the late Rafael Nadal, she was a lifetime resident of Kensington, and a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. She leaves her family who miss her dearly including two loving daughters and sons-in-law, Chi Chi and Robert Norton, and Linda and Gary Riedel Sr., her grandchildren, Lisa and James Wall, Gary and Arlene Riedel, Erika and Raymond Zisa, and Kevin and Allyson Riedel, all of Kensington, great-grandchildren who she adored, Kaitlyn C. Wall, James B. Wall, and Samuel G. Riedel, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her street is slightly hushed of the sweet songs of the birds she loved to watch and feed who miss her love too. Friends are invited to go directly to the Funeral Liturgy Thursday (November 15, 2001) at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in her memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
