Mary (Seidl) Sturm
KENSINGTON - Mary (Seidl) Sturm, 91, of Farmington Avenue, died Saturday morning (April 28, 2001) at Middlesex Hospital. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Margaret Seidl, she attended New Britain schools, and owned and operated the Village Inn on Farmington Avenue in Kensington with her husband, the late Eugene L. Sturm. She was a member of St. Paul Church where she was a member of The Ladies Guild, a member of the Catholic Women’s League, and the Berlin Seniors. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret and Robert E. Bishop, and Katherine F. McGee, all of Kensington, two brothers, John Seidl of Newington, and Andrew Seidl in Florida, two sisters, Anne Egri and Barbara Timko, both of Kensington, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Seidl, a sister, Josephine Stangl, and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9am from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Hwy. in Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in her memory to St. Anthony’s Messenger, 1615 Republic Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45210, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Eugene Robert Winkler
KENSINGTON – Eugene Robert Winkler, 71, of Attwood Street, husband of Callista (Boyd) Winkler, died Saturday morning (March 8, 2003) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he served in the US Army, and was employed as a builder in the Baltimore area until his retirement. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a step-daughter, Karen Schap, and her husband, Conrad Guenzel, and three grandchildren, all of Kensington. A funeral service will be held Wednesday (March 12, 2003) at the Fork United Methodist Church in Fork, Maryland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Chester “Chet” John Boryczki
Chester “Chet” John Boryczki, 77, of 410 Fox Glen, Cromwell, died peacefully Monday morning (January 14, 2002) at home after a short illness. Born in New Britain, the son of the late John and Sophie (Szczepanik) Boryczki, he graduated from New Britain High School, served in the US Army in WWII, and was employed at Shawmut Bank until his retirement. He was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church, a volunteer at The Hole In The Wall Theater, and a volunteer and docent at the Goodspeed Opera House. He is survived by a brother, Henry Boryczki of Newington, and was a devoted uncle of several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grand nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Boryczki, and a sister, Jane Boryczki. Funeral services will be held Thursday (January 17, 2002) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11am at St. John Church in Cromwell. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday (January 17, 2002) from 9am until the departure to church.

Louise (Wood) Nocera
BERLIN – Louise (Wood) Nocera, 69, of 51 Patterson Way, wife of Alfred Nocera, died Friday evening (November 30, 2001) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Williamstown Vermont, she lived in Connecticut for over forty years, retired from The Hartford, and was most recently employed at General Equities. She was a member of St. Paul Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Sharon Young of Richmond, Virginia, Karen Larson of Newfane, Vermont, Diana Steinson of Berlin, and Beverly Sic of New Britain, three brothers, Stanley Wood, Ralph Levine, and Raymond Levine, all in Vermont, two sisters, Dorothy Montgomery in Vermont, and Irene Almanza in California, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. A dedicated wife and mother, she touched many lives with her selfless kindness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (December 4, 2001) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial will be in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday (December 3, 2001) from 5-7pm. Dr. Hugh Edward O’Reilly Sr.
KENSINGTON – Dr. Hugh Edward O’Reilly Sr., 76, of Kensington, husband of Sylvia (Roberts) O’Reilly, died Thursday morning (January 23, 2003) at his home. Born in New York City, he received his Bachelor’s degree from St. Peter’s College, his medical degree from New York State Medical College, served in the Army Air Corps in WWII, and was an associate at New Britain Obstetrics and Gynecology Group on Hart Street until his retirement. Dr. O’Reilly served as the Chief of OB/GYN at New Britain General Hospital, was an associate professor at the University of Connecticut Medical School, and was an elected member of the Berlin Board of Education. He was a member of St. Paul’s Church, the Shuttle Meadow Country Club, and the Central Connecticut Radio Controlled Model Airplane Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Kelly and John Considine of Stamford, three sons and a daughter-in-law, Biff J. and Jeanne O’Reilly of Greenwich, Hugh E. O’Reilly Jr. of New York City, and Daniel G. O’Reilly of Charlestown, Massachusetts, three brothers and sisters-in-law, James P. and Jane O’Reilly of Greenville, South Carolina, Eugene and Delores O’Reilly of Ridgewood, New Jersey, and Edward J. and Donna O’Reilly of Kansas City Missouri, a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and John Harkins of Fernandina Beach, Florida, two grandsons, Christopher and Edward O’Reilly, an uncle, The Rev. Daniel Lanahan O.F.M., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday (January 27, 2003) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Spring burial will be in Smith Meeting House Cemetery, Gilmanton, New Hampshire. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday (January 26, 2003) from 2-6pm. George Peplau
George Peplau, 75, of 267 Spruce Brook Road, Berlin, widower of Margaret (Kluis) Peplau, died Monday night (February 4, 2002) at Hartford Hospital with his loving family at his side. Born in Berlin, the son of the late Rudolph and the late Mary (Oslander) Peplau, he was employed at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, and an officer in the town of Berlin Police Department until his retirement. He was a member of Berlin Congregational Church where he presently served as a deacon, a fifty-year member of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Roadrunners Camping Club. He is survived by a son, James Peplau of Berlin, a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Robert Waldron of South Windsor, three brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Lillian Peplau of Southington, Frederick Peplau of Berlin, and Irving Peplau of Haddam, three sisters, Bertha Hemphill and Emma Arico, both of Berlin, and Elsie Jacobson of Cromwell, a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Harold and Marie Kluis of Hollis, New Hampshire, and Alida Vlaun of Ormond Beach, Florida, a granddaughter, Jenna Waldron, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Jacobson. A funeral service will be held Friday (February 8, 2002) at 11am at Berlin Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Margaret (Kluis) Peplau
BERLIN - Margaret (Kluis) Peplau, 79, loving wife of George Peplau of 267 Spruce Brook Road, died Thursday morning (May 3, 2001) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Middletown, the daughter of the late Nicholas and the late Janet Kluis, she was employed at Northeast Utilities until her retirement. She was a member of Berlin Congregational Church where she was a member of the Women’s Federation, a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Roadrunners Camping Club. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, James Peplau of Berlin, a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Robert Waldron of South Windsor, a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Marie Kluis of Hollis, New Hampshire, a sister, Alida Vlaun of Ormond Beach, Florida, a granddaughter, Jenna Waldron, and several nieces and nephews.
