Helen (Baranowski) Shepherd
NEW BRITAIN – Helen (Baranowski) Shepherd, 96, formerly of Andrews Street, the widow of Hyrum Shepherd, died Saturday morning (December 15, 2001) at a local convalescent home. Born in New Britain, the eldest of nine children, she attended local schools, and was employed at New Britain General Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She is survived by one brother, Joseph Baranowski of Bristol, one sister, Josephine Wilgoski of Enfield, several nieces and nephews, and a great-nephew. A graveside service will be held Tuesday (December 18, 2001) at 11am in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain, The Rev. Paul Guido officiating. There are no calling hours.

Mary “Mae” Frances (O’Connell) Woods
KENSINGTON – Mary “Mae” Frances (O’Connell) Woods, 97, of Kensington, beloved widow of Merton Woods, passed away Saturday (March 6, 2004) at a local convalescent home. A native of Kensington, the daughter of the late John and the late Mary (Hall) Woods, she attended local schools, and was employed at Landers, Frary, and Clark. She is survived by a daughter and two sons-in-law, Norma and George Daley of Plainville, and Edward Ciszek of Kensington, three granddaughters, Diane Peloquin and her husband Tom of Southington, Susan Daley of Chicago, Illinois, and Carol (Ciszek) Rush and her husband Brant of Kensington, two cherished great-grandsons, T.J. and Ryan Peloquin of Southington, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jean Ciszek, four brothers, Thomas, Walter, John, and Matt O’Connell, and two sisters, Nora Grogan and Agnes Reeves. A prayer service will be held Wednesday March 10, 2004) at 10am at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday (March 9, 2004) from 5-7pm, and on Wednesday (March 10, 2004) from 9am until the time of the service.

Bruce Wayne Dumond
KENSINGTON – Bruce Wayne Dumond, 47, of David Drive, the husband of Lucia (Pelletier) Dumond, died Tuesday (March 9, 2004) at Yale–New Haven Hospital. Born in Fort Kent, Maine, the son of the late Edward and the late Alma (Paradis) Dumond, he was employed at Har-Conn Chrome in West Hartford, and was a member of St. Paul Church in Kensington. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joshua Dumond of Kensington, two daughters, Dawn Dumond of New Britain, and Heather Dumond of Manchester, a brother, Ronnie Dumond of Fort Kent, Maine, three sisters, Diane Dumond of Fort Kent, Maine, Charlene Silguero of Berlin, and Carol Michaud of Kensington, four grandchildren, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Theresa Pelletier of Coventry, and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday (March 13, 2004) at 10:30am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, with a funeral liturgy at 11:30am at St. Paul’s Church. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday (March 12, 2004) from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to UConn Cancer Center, 263 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, Connecticut 06030-2875, or to Yale Cancer Center, 333 Cedar Street, New Haven, Connecticut, 06520-8028 and memo for lung cancer.

Ruby (Jordan) Zarotney
Ruby (Jordan) Zarotney, 76, of 52 Sheila Court, Bristol, formerly of Berlin, the widow of Aloysius Zarotney, died Friday afternoon (April 26, 2002) at Ingraham Manor in Bristol. Born in Marlinton, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Frank and the late Mattie (Dalford) Jordan, she was a secretary at Berlin High School for sixteen years until her retirement, and was a member of St. Gregory’s Church in Bristol. She is survived by a son, Thomas E. Zarotney of Cromwell, a daughter, Patricia A. Balfore of Berlin, two brothers, Harry and Jesse Jordan, both of Marlinton, West Virginia, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Tuesday (April 30, 2002) at 11am at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, The Rev. Peter Gill officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to Greater Bristol Visiting Nurse Assoc. & Hospice, 195 Maltby Street, Bristol 06010.

Parker “Bad Boy” Murphy Walker Jr.
Parker “Bad Boy” Murphy Walker Jr., 48, of 15 Candlewood Lane, New Britain, CT, died Monday night (June 10, 2002) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in New Britain, the son of Bernice (Yopp) Wooten and the late Parker Murphy Walker Sr., he attended New Britain Schools, and was a volunteer for the Human Resource Agency, and Someplace Special. He was a member of Blackwood Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church and the United States Jaycees. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sons, Adrian Smith of Sturgis, Michigan, Tyree Smith of New Britain, and Brian Walker of Bristol, a daughter, Deandrea Berry of New Britain, two brothers, Jeff Wooten Jr. and Keith Wooten, both of New Britain, three sisters, Erma Gonzalez-Jackson of Plainville, and Marie Wooten and Darlene Jordan, both of New Britain, three grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his father, he is predeceased by his step-father, Jeff Davis Wooten, and two brothers, Robert and Larry Walker. Funeral services will be held Friday (June 14, 2002) at 12 noon at Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church, 25 Crestwood Lane, New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church on Friday (June 14, 2002) from 11am until the time of the service.

Steven Tryaskus
NEW BRITAIN – Steven Tryaskus, 49, of Tremont Street, died unexpectedly Thursday (January 23, 2003) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Stanley J. and the late Mary (Kaminski) Tryaskus, he graduated from New Britain High School, received his Bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University, was a manager for X-tra Mart in New Britain, and was a member of Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. He is survived by a brother, Don Trask of New Britain, an uncle, The Rev. Ladislaus J. Kaminski of New Britain, and three cousins, Daniel, Gregory, and Frank Kupiec. Funeral services will be held Friday (January 31, 2003) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 9am until the departure to church.

Rose Carolyn (Georgini) Terry
KENSINGTON – Rose Carolyn (Georgini) Terry, 85, of 101 Church Street, the widow of Herbert Arthur Terry, died Wednesday night (December 26, 2001) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Joseph, and the late Josephine (Binardo) Georgini, she graduated from New Britain High School, and was employed at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford for twenty-five years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul Church, and the Loyal Order of Moose. She is survived by a son, Clarence Arthur Terry with whom she made her home, a brother, Harry Georgini of Kensington, a sister, Rita McKierman of St. Cloud, Minnesota, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday (December 31, 2001) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home Monday from 9am until the departure to the church.
