Leno, Rita (Connolly) - February 15, 2005
KENSINGTON – Rita (Connolly) Leno, 80, of Reservoir Road, the loving wife of William J. Leno, died Tuesday morning (February 15, 2005) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in New Haven, the daughter of the late John and the late Mae Beryl (Gale) Connolly, she graduated from New Britain High School, and was employed at Emhart Industries until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul Church, was president of the New Britain Secretaries Club, and loved gardening, crocheting, and painting. In addition to her husband, she is survived by several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Friday (February 18, 2005) at 10am in South Burying Ground on Southington Road in Kensington. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, on Thursday (February 17, 2005) from 5-8pm. Boettger, Helene M. (Klug) - February 14, 2005
KENSINGTON – Helene M. (Klug) Boettger, 99, of New Britain, formerly of New Haven, devoted wife of the late Karl Arno Boettger, entered her eternal rest on Monday (February 14, 2005) at a local convalescent home. Born in Truen, Germany, the daughter of the late Otto and the late Mina (Paul) Klug, she left Germany in 1924 to marry her teenage sweetheart who with his brothers had recently immigrated to the United States. She lived in New Haven for sixty-five years where she attended to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and was active in several German organizations. In her later years, she moved to the Marjorie Moore Village, in Kensington to be near family, became a member of Kensington United Methodist Church, and in 2002, after a short illness, moved to the Jerome Home in New Britain where she resided until her peaceful passing. She was an active walker, enjoyed knitting and exercise groups, was a vicious reader of books, and her greatest joy was family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by two beloved daughters and a son-in-law, Helen Simpson of Kensington, and Eleanor and William Brown of Tequesta, Florida, and four grandchildren, Linda Lareau and her husband Roland of Canton, Richard Brown of Knoxville, Tenn., Janice Fenwick of New Orleans, and Thomas Simpson of Cromwell, eight great-grandchildren, Jeanine Robbins, Alaina Lareau, Leland Robbins, Melanie Fenwick, Nicole Lareau, Abigail Browne, James Simpson and Thomas Connor Simpson, several nieces and nephews, and many friends, neighbors and relatives whose lives she touched in countless ways. She was predeceased by her brothers, Karl and Kurt Klug, and her great-grandson, Christopher Browne. Funeral services will be held Friday (February 18, 2005) at 7pm at Kensington United Methodist Church, 103 Hotchkiss Street, Kensington. A graveside service will be held Saturday (February 19, 2005) at 10am in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Kensington United Methodist Church on Friday (February 18, 2005) from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kensington Methodist Church, 103 Hotchkiss Street, Kensington 06037, or to the Jerome Home, 975 Corbin Avenue, New Britain 06052. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Jerome Home for making her final three years very comfortable with their thoughtful and loving care.
Selner, Evelyn Henrietta (Seibert) - February 12, 2005
BERLIN – Evelyn Henrietta (Seibert) Selner, 86, of Southington, formerly of Berlin, the widow of Arthur W. Selner, died Saturday afternoon (February 12, 2005) at home with her loving family at her side. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Arthur and the late Edith (Geer) Seibert, she graduated from New Britain High School and The Moody School of Commerce, and was employed at the Hartford Regional Center until her retirement. She was a member of Berlin Congregational Church where she was a member of the Women’s Federation. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Arland and Pat Selner of Middletown, and Clyde and Betsy Selner of Kensington, a daughter and son-in-law, Babs and John Wrobel of Kensington, seven grandchildren, Lisa, Sarah, and Alex Selner, Melanie Stehle, and John, Matthew, and Jessie May Wrobel, and two great-grandchildren, Anna and Peyton Stehle. A funeral service will be held Tuesday (February 15, 2005) at 7pm at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington. A graveside service will take place Wednesday (February 16, 2005) at 10am in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Giramonti, Lucian J. - February 05, 2005
NEW BRITAIN – Lucian J. Giramonti, 87, of Wethersfield, formerly of New Britain, the widower of Doris (McDuff) Giramonti, died Saturday morning (February 5, 2005). Born in New Britain, the son of the late Ernesto and the late Carlotta (Gaioni) Giramonti, he graduated from New Britain High School, and was employed at Stanadyne Diesel Systems in Windsor until his retirement. He was a member of St. Maurice Church in New Britain, and was a recipient of the “Friend of Berlin Schools” certificate of appreciation from the Berlin Board of Education in 1999, as well as the “Richard N. Peronace Sr. Volunteer Appreciation Award” from Berlin Upbeat in 1994. He is survived by two brothers and one sister-in-law, Andrew and Rose Giramonti of Wethersfield, and James Giramonti of New Britain, and several nieces, and nephews. Funeral services from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, and burial in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain will be held at the convenience of the family. Fioravanti, Elizabeth - February 04, 2005
NEW BRITAIN – Elizabeth “Lucy” (DeLottie) Fioravanti, 97, of New Britain, the widow of Enrico Fioravanti, died early Friday morning (February 4, 2005) at Monsignor Bojinowski Manor. Born in Saron, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Samuel and the late Mary (Sorgi) DeLottie, she was employed at the American Bazaar, and was a member of St. Ann Church. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Julie Fioravanti of New Britain, two daughters and a son-in-law, Marie and Frank DiMugno of Kensington, and Dorothy Berk of New Britain, a daughter-in-law, Barbara Fioravanti of Bristol, a brother, Anthony DeLottie of Newington, three sisters, Josephine Prince of Newington, Julie Ferriti of Plainville, and Carmella Giove of Cromwell, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Anthony Fioravanti. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (February 8, 2005) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Ann Church. Kusek, Robert Michael - January 31, 2005
BERLIN – Robert Michael Kusek, 78, of Earl Street, died peacefully Monday (January 31, 2005) at his home with his family at his side. Born in Southington, the son of the late Michael and the late Mary (Kania) Kusek, he graduated from Lewis High School, proudly served in the US Navy in WWII aboard the USS Ticonderoga, and retired from Emhart Corporation where he was Chief Cost Accountant. He was a member of St. Paul Church, V.F.W. Post #10732, and American Legion Post #68. He loved sports as a fan, but first as an athlete. A gifted running back, he attended Georgetown University on a football scholarship, and played for the semi-professional Southington Gems. Later he became a UConn fan, and especially liked to follow the women’s basketball team. Along with his beloved companion of many years, Dee Huber of Berlin, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathlene and Stephen Mizerek of Durham, and Nancy Martin of Colchester, a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Sharin Kusek of Kensington, a brother, Edward Kusek of Kensington, a sister, Virginia Hill of Bristol, and seven grandchildren, Michael, Jillian, Kristen, and William Kusek, Matthew and Andrew Mizerek, and Rachel Martin. He was predeceased by his devoted wife of thirty-two years, Frances J. (Konieczko) Kusek, in 1985. Funeral services will be held Friday (February 4, 2005) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday (February 3, 2005) from 5-8pm.
Gozzo, Sebastian - January 26, 2005
NEW BRITAIN – Sebastian Gozzo, 85, of Farmington, formerly of New Britain, died late Wednesday night (January 26, 2005) at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Joseph and the late Anna (Formica) Gozzo, he attended local schools, and was employed in the construction business for many years. He is survived by a brother, John Gozzo of Manassas, Virginia, a sister, Angelina Motto of Kensington, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Funeral services and burial in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain, will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
