Dorau, Albert Joseph - January 23, 2005
NEW BRITAIN – Albert Joseph Dorau, 91, formerly of Steele Street, beloved husband of Elsie (Pentore) Dorau, died early Sunday morning (January 23, 2005) at The Jerome Home in New Britain. Born in Wallingford, the son of the late Albert Joseph and the late Charlotte (Borghi) Dorau, he graduated from Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, and was the owner and president of New Britain Spring Company that was featured in the series of “Mystery Photos” that ran in the HERALD in 1997. An exhibit of the company’s products can be seen in the New Britain Industrial Museum. He was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wallingford, past president of the New Britain High School Parent’s Booster Club, chairman of the St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Building Committee where he was president of the school’s Board of Education, and enjoyed traveling with Elsie, bowling at Stadium Lanes, golf at Stanley Golf Course, and playing pinochle with family and friends. His sense of humor and kindness will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Marilyn Dorau of Kensington, and Peter and Catherine Dorau of Manchester, two sisters, Mabel Wusterbarth and Sarah Wolfgang, both of Wallingford, his grandchildren, Jennifer Souhrada and her husband William of Shelton, and Jeffrey Dorau of Brooklyn, New York, Bradley Dorau serving in the US Air Force in the United Kingdom, Kyle Dorau of Manchester, Gregory Festa of Southington, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two wives, Eleanor (Kuehn) and Elfreida (Jabs) Dorau, two sisters, Alice Fogil and Florence Sotak, and a brother, Ernest Dorau. A funeral service will be held Wednesday )January 26, 2005) at 11am at Zion Lutheran Church in Wallingford. Burial will follow in In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington on Wednesday (January 26, 2005) from 9-10am. Maligoli, Nina (Lanzoni) - January 20, 2005
KENSINGTON – Nina (Lanzoni) Malagoli, 95, formerly of Marjorie Moore Village, the widow of Frank A. Malagoli, died Thursday morning (January 20, 2005) at Ledgecrest Convalescent Home. A native of Kensington and the daughter of the late Nicholas and Rose (Giorzani) Lanzoni, she attended local schools, and retired from Prentice Corp. She was a member of St. Paul Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Harold Blanchard of Milford, two grandchildren and their spouses, four great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Joseph Lanzoni, one niece, and three nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Lanzoni, and a grandson, Brian Blanchard. Funeral services at St. Paul Church in Kensington, and burial in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain, will be at the convenience of the family. Sargis, Grace Virginia (Meeker) - January 19, 2005
KENSINGTON – Grace Virginia (Meeker) Sargis, 87, formerly of Alling Street, the widow of Solomon J. Sargis, died early Wednesday morning (January 19, 2005) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Middletown, the daughter of the late James and the late Rose (Gleason) Meeker, she graduated from New Britain High School, and was employed in Berlin School cafeterias until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, a member of the Berlin Seniors, past president of the Little League Auxiliary, and past president of the Senior Crafters. She is survived by two sons, David Sargis of Charlestown, Rhode Island, and John Sargis of Kensington, three grandchildren, Justin, Jeffery, and Katherine Sargis, and a great-niece, Ginger Bastille of Plainville. Funeral services will be held Friday (January 21, 2005) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, with a funeral liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain, will be at the convenience of the family. Glidden, Edith Whelmina (Stack) - January 18, 2005
NEW BRITAIN – Edith Whelmina (Stack) Glidden, 90, of Middletown, formerly of New Britain, the widow of Edmund T. Glidden, died Tuesday (January 18, 2005) at Middlesex Hospital. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Ethel (Slocum) Stack, she graduated from New Britain High School, and was employed in the US Navy payroll department in WWII. She was a member of First Church of Christ, Congregational, in New Britain where she taught Sunday School. She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Norton of Kennebunk, Maine, and Druscilla Goodell of Middletown, and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Tuesday (January 25, 2005) at noon in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in her name to The American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Avenue, Meriden 06450-1004. There are no calling hours.
Zanetti, Emilio A. - January 15, 2005
BERLIN - Emilio A. Zanetti, 88, of Ledge Drive, Berlin, the husband of Yvonne (Carrier) Zanetti, and the widower of Mary (Berti) Zanetti, died Saturday morning (January 15, 2005) at home with his family at his side. Born in Harwinton, the son of the late Carlo and the late Maria (Berti) Zanetti, he served in the U.S. Army in World War II in Africa and Italy, and was employed at Associated Construction in Hartford until his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul`s Church, V.F.W. Post #10732 in Berlin, and an avid golfer at Timberlin Golf Course. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Emil and Janet Zanetti of Berlin; a brother, Louis Zanetti of Bristol; a sister, Ines Choma of Kensington; two grandsons, Richard and John Zanetti; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (January 18, 2005) at 9 a.m. from Porter`s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, with a funeral liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. DiPace, Joseph J. - May 16, 1996
ROCKY HILL - Joseph J. DiPace, 83, of Little Oak Lane, died Thursday (May 16, 1996) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in New Britain, he attended local schools, and was employed at Emhart Corp. for many years until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin, and the Knights of Columbus in Kensington. He is survived by his devoted wife Cecile (Roux) DiPace, a daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and John Rogers of Newington, a grandson, Eric Rathbun, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Dennis DiPace in 1993, and by two brothers, Salvatore and Harry DiPace. Funeral services will be Saturday (May 18, 1996) at 8:30am from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Hwy. in Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home Friday (May 17, 1996) from 5-8pm. DiPace, Cecile F. (Roux) - January 12, 2005
NEWINGTON - Cecile F. (Roux) DiPace, of Newington, formerly of Rocky Hill and Berlin, the widow of Joseph J. DiPace, passed into eternal rest on Wednesday morning (January 12, 2005) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Canada on January 6, 1918, the oldest of 5 children of the late Norbert and Anna Roux, she was employed at Honeywell, Inc. (formerly Skinners) until her retirement. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and the Forever Young Club. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary & John Rogers of Newington, three sisters, Evelyn Cammarata of Berlin, Frances Bernier of Niantic, and Rita Desrochers of Berlin, a brother, John Roux of Plainville, a very special grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Eric and Krista Rathbun, a great-grandson, Ethan P. Rathbun, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Dennis J. DiPace. A Funeral Liturgy will take place Saturday (January 15, 2005) at 11am directly at Sacred Heart Church, 66 Cottage Street, East Berlin. Spring burial in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain, will be at the convenience of the family.
