Farone John Joseph Sr. - November 14, 2004
KENSINGTON – John "Fat Man" Joseph Farone Sr., 85, of New Britain Road, the widower of Mary (Bakaj) Farone, passed away peacefully Sunday morning (November 14, 2004) at home with his family at his side. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Anthony and the late Angelina Ferone, he attended local schools, was employed at Plainville Stadiums for twenty years, and retired from Manafort Brothers. He was a member of St. Paul Church and Laborers International Local #611. He is survived by two daughters, Helen Farone of Kensington, and Mary Morgan of Meriden, four sons and four daughters-in-law, John Farone Jr. and his wife Sandy of New Britain, Joseph Farone of Kensington, Anthony and Mary Farone of Berlin, William and Margaret Farone of Kensington, and Joyce Bakaj of Berlin, a brother, Joseph Ferone of New Britain, eleven grandchildren, Keith Morgan, Donna Abbaitello, Angela Muir, Maryann Akins, Sharon Fiemuth, Pamela Cyr, Nicole Ritchie, and Andrea, Joseph, Jennifer, and Jackie Farone, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and Santi, four sisters, Frances Aresimowicz, Pauline Murzyn, Rosemarie Charmut, and Florence Blancato, and a step-son, Stanley Bakaj. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (November 17, 2004) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, with a funeral liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday (November 16, 2004) from 4-8pm. Gionfriddo, Linda Lee (LeClair) - October 31, 2004
KENSINGTON – Linda Lee (LeClair) Gionfriddo, 53, of Ridgewood Lane, the loving wife of Paul J. Gionfriddo, died early Sunday morning (October 31, 2004) at home with her family at her side. Born in Lewiston, Maine, the daughter of Patricia (Winslow) Caron of Auburn, Maine, and the late Bertrand LeClair, she graduated from New Britain High School, and was an Executive Assistant at the St. Paul Travelers Insurance. She was a member of St. Paul Church. In addition to her husband and her mother, she is survived by a son, Michael Gionfriddo of Boston, a daughter, Melissa Gionfriddo of North Branford, her step-father Arthur Caron, a sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Ronald Nelson of Colchester, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Salvatore and Rosemarie Gionfriddo of New Britain, two nephews, Dominic Gionfriddo and Jesse Nelson, and a niece, Maria Gionfriddo. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (November 3, 2004) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, with a funeral liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday (November 2, 2004) from 5-8pm.
Martin, Diane L. (Fiori) - October 28, 2004
SOUTHINGTON – Diane L. (Fiori) Martin, 37, of Hitchcock Road, the loving wife of Brian Martin, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday afternoon (October 28, 2004) at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with her family at her side. A native of Berlin, the daughter of Richard and Irene (Wielgos) Fiori of Kensington, she graduated from Berlin High School, and from Briarwood College where she was on the Dean’s List, and was Assistant Program Coordinator at UCONN Medical Center in Farmington. She was an active member of the Church of the Bible in Plainville where she was the nursery coordinator, an active member of the P.T.A. at Kelley School in Southington, and loved gardening, crafts, cooking, and a little Martha Stewart. In addition to her husband and her parents, she is survived by a son, Alexander Martin, two daughters, Erin and Heather Martin, three brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Karen Fiori of New Britain, James and Linda Fiori of Rocky Hill, and Thomas and Michelle Fiori in New Jersey, a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Philip Romegialli of East Berlin, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Peggy Martin of Old Saybrook, and several loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family members. A funeral service will be held Tuesday (November 2, 2004) at 10am directly at the Church of the Bible, 160 West Main Street, Plainville. Burial will follow in West Lane Cemetery, Kensington. Agostinucci, Irene (Bindas) - October 21, 2004
NEW BRITAIN – Irene (Bindas) Agostinucci, 80, of Clinic Drive, the loving wife of Frank A. Agostinucci, died late Thursday night at a local convalescent home. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Peter and the late Anna (Madey) Bindas, she attended local schools, and retired from Sandelli Florists. She was a member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, St. Olga’s Sisterhood, and Sr. U.O.L. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Roseann and James Hannon of Thomaston, and Francine and Brian Sencio of East Berlin, three grandchildren, James and Terry Hannon, and Nicole Sencio, a great-grandson, James Hannon V, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday at 10am at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, on Sunday from 3-6pm, and at the church on Monday from 9:30am until the time of the service. A Parastas Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 5pm. Cook, Mary (Swintek) - October 12, 2004
KENSINGTON – Mary (Swintek) Cook, 87, of Kensington Road, the widow of Richard A. Cook, died Tuesday at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Passaic, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Peter and the late Teresa (Godzyk) Swintek, she was employed at Landers, Frary, & Clark, and most recently in the Danvers Massachusetts School District. She was member of St. Paul Church in Kensington. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Evelyn Pampuro of Kensington, a daughter, Donna Strout of New Britain, a sister, Eleanor Grib of Kensington, several nieces and nephews, and she took great pride in her five grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Peter J. Pampuro Jr., and a daughter, Mary Anne Pampuro. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, with a funeral liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial will take place in Walnut Grove cemetery in Danvers, Massachusetts, at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7pm.
Alexander, Jean (Stawiarska) - September 08, 1998
NEW BRITAIN - Jean (Stawiarska) Alexander, 77, of 30 Lurton Street, the wife of Richard M. Alexander, died Tuesday night (September 8, 1998) at a local convalescent home. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she served in the Army in WWII, was employed at Terry Steam Turbine Company until her retirement, and was an avid bowler. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara (Ponx) and Ronald O’Dell of Plainville. A graveside service will be held Friday (September 18, 1998) in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois, at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Albert, Gerald - December 27, 2002
NEW BRITAIN – Gerald “Jerry” Albert, 71, of New Britain, husband of Lucille (Guerrette) Albert, died Friday afternoon (December 27, 2002) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Eagle Lake, Maine, he was employed at Fafnir Bearing Company, and did television repair work. He was a member of St. Maurice Church, and loved to play the guitar, formerly playing the lead with Jerry and the New Englanders. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and his companion, Gary Albert and Brenda Madore of Bristol, a daughter and son-in-law, Carlene and Peter Szestakow of Southington, a daughter-in-law, Colleen Albert of Southington, three sisters, Mary Menard in Florida, and Jackie Labbe and Verna Desjardin, both in Maine, a step-sister, Marie L. Osden of Newington, a step-brother, Nelson Guimond of New Britain, three grandsons, Paul, Peter, and Jason Albert, three granddaughters, Danielle, Leann, and Chantel Szestakow, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, James Albert on December 2, 1998, and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (December 31, 2002) at 10am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Maurice Church, 100 Wightman Road, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday (December 30, 2002) from 6-8pm.
