BRUCE NAPPI
Bruce Nappi, 86, of Kenwood Street, died on Sept. 19 [2002] at New Britain General Hospital with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Salvatore and Speranza (Mazzochi) Nappi and was the husband of the late Grace (Bigge) Nappi.
He was a general foreman at Fafnir Bearing, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church Forever Young Club in East Berlin, The Civil Conservation Corps and was a charter member of the third and fourth degree of the Knights of Columbus Council #3675, where he held all positions including grand knight, worthy navigator, chancellor, warden, scribe and others.
He is survived by three sons and their wives, Bruce and Stephania Nappi of Weston, Mass., Keith and Darlene Nappi of Canton, and Kevin and Gina Nappi of Kensington; two sisters, Lena Vincens and Mary Klaypatch of Plainville; three brothers, Ralph Nappy of Florida, John Nappi of Berlin and George Nappi of Kensington; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Marchetti and Dorothy Misiano, both of Florida; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Sept. 23 at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, Kensington, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Paul's Church. Burial was in Maple Cemetery.
MARION C. FORTIN
Marion (Carlson) Fortin, 82, of Kensington, died on Sept. 21 [2002] at Ledgecrest Health Care Center. She was the widow of Eugene "Bud" Fortin.
Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Carl E. and Stella (Denison) Carlson and was a resident of Kensington since 1950. She was formerly employed at Landers, Frary & Clark, Prentice Manufacturing and later at Guida Seibert Dairy for 23 years, until retiring in 1991. She was a member of Kensington Congregational Church, the Women's Service League, Tuesday Circle and formerly served as a Girl Scout leader at the church for 10 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane Hayden of Belhaven, N.C.; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jennifer McGilvery; a great-grandson, Riley David McGilvery; and a brother, Robert Carlson of Rhinecliff, N.Y.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 25 at Kensington Congregational Church. Burial was in West Lane Cemetery. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain, was in charge of arrangements.

GASTON BARRE
Gaston "Gus" Ernest Barre, 79, of John Hand Drive, Coventry, formerly of Berlin, died Aug. 6 [2003] at Manchester Hospital.
Born in Quebec, Canada, the son of the late Lionel and the late Corinne (Roberge) Barre, he was raised in Holyoke, Mass., graduated from the University of North Carolina, served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, owned and operated Atomic Sales in New Britain, and owned and operated Adams Apple in Manchester and Vernon. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Willimantic.
He is survived by a brother, Gerald Barre in Wyoming, a sister Giselle Schiedler in the state of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services where held Aug. 13 at Porter's Funeral Home, Kensington, with a funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Church, East Berlin. Burial with full military honors followed in the State Veteran's Cemetery, Middletown.
DONALD GRAY
Donald Gray, 76, of New Britain, formerly of Berlin, died Aug. 11 [2003] with his family by his side.
The son of the late Ralph and Gertrude (Durkee) Gray, he was involved with Central Connecticut Association for Retarded Citizens.
He is survived by two sisters, Barbara Dauphin of New York and Patricia Neill of Michigan; one brother, Robert Gray of New Britain; and 13 nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Aug. 13 at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home Kensington. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain.
LOLA ROMAN
Lola (Starzec) Roman, 83, of Worthington Ridge, the widow of Veto V. Roman, died Aug. 13 [2003] at New Britain General Hospital.
Born in Berlin, the daughter of the late John and the late Eleanora (Sliva) Starzec, she graduated from Berlin High School, and was a member of St. Paul's Church.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas and Nancy Roman of Plymouth, and Daniel V. Roman of Wolcott; a sister, Clara DiPietro of Kensington; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Aug. 16 from Porter's Funeral Home, Kensington, with a funeral liturgy at St. Paul's Church. Burial followed in Maple Cemetery, Berlin.
CARISS A. ANDREWS
Carissa A. Andrews, 21, of Simsbury, died on July 27 [2003] after a courageous battle with ALS.
Born on November 28, 1981, in New Britain, she was the beloved daughter of Mark Andrews of Manchester and Sandra Andrews of Simsbury. She was 1999 graduate of Berlin High School.
Besides her parents, she leaves her sister, Sharon Andrews of Simsbury; her stepmother, Cynthia Bakos of Manchester; her maternal grandparents, William and Rose Sakowicz of New Britain; her paternal grandmother, Anne Andrews of Manchester; aunts, Linda Huck of Kensington, and Betty Choquette of Hawaii; and her great aunts, great uncles, and many cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Felix Andrews, and her uncle, William Sakowicz.
Funeral services were private. Burritt Hill Funeral Home, New Britain, was in charge of arrangements.

ELLA WILLIAMS
Ella Marjorie (Milton) Williams, 82, of Robindale Drive, wife of Gardner Raymond Williams, died Feb. 4 [2004] Hartford Hospital.
Born in Amesbury, Mass., the daughter of the late Malcolm and the late Cora (Cole) Milton, she graduated from Salem College, and was a teacher at Willard School in Berlin until her retirement. She was a member of Kensington Congregational Church and the church's Women's Service League, the Monday Night Club, Timberlin Golf Club Lady Niners, Bucks and Does Square Dance Club, and Tuesday Women's Sewing Circle.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Deane and Donna Williams of Farmington and Jeffrey and Sherri Williams of Fordland, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Andrew Byrne of Kensington; two sisters, Dorothy Wood of Salisbury, Mass. and Barbara Sakora of Newburyport, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Feb. 9 at Kensington Congregational Church. Burial in West Lane cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
