Ruth Banks, 75, former New Milford Hospital nurse
Ruth W. Banks, 75, of New Milford died Sept. 27 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was the wife of Edward Banks.
Mrs. Banks was born July 8, 1927, in New Milford, the daughter of the late William and Jennie Worden.
She was a lifelong resident of New Milford and a 1945 graduate of New Milford High School.
She received her nursing degree from the Danbury School of Nursing in 1948 and was employed as a nurse at New Milford Hospital for many years before retiring in 1977.
She was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and a former member of St. John’s Choir and Altar Guild.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Banks is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Morsey of Surfside Beach, S.C.; two grandchildren, Christina and Scott Morsey; and several nieces and nephews.

Emma Krenkel, 88, longtime resident of New Milford
Emma L. (Mang) Krenkel, 88 of Taylor Terrace, New Milford, died Sept. 24 at New Milford Hospital. She was the widow of Arnold A. Krenkel.
Mrs. Krenkel was born July 8, 1914, in Saanich, Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada, the daughter of the late Charles and Edith M. (Heywood) Mang.
She grew up in Niagara Falls, N.Y., moving to Neenah, Wisc., in 1940. She was employed by Sears Roebuck in Appleton, Wisc., for many years. She moved to New Milford in 1958.
She and her husband were founding members of the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Milford. She was an avid bridge player and was a volunteer for the Thrift Mart of New Milford for many years.
Mrs. Krenkel is survived by a son, Herman and his wife Ethel of New Preston; a daughter, Suzanne Peck and her husband David of Neenah; three grandchildren, Stacey Bodi and her husband Paul, Kristen Schulz and her husband Brent, and Steven Peck and his special friend Beth; four great-grandchildren, Christina Peck, Alaina and Talia Bodi and Caelyn Schulz; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful cat, Annie. She was predeceased by a her grandson Kevin; and a brother, Leo Mang.

Arlette Cignoli, 82, longtime New Milford resident
Arlette (Besse) Cignoli, 82, of Chestnut Grove, New Milford, died Sept. 26 at New Milford Hospital. She was the widow of Francis C. Cignoli.
Mrs. Cignoli was born March 30, 1920, in Aix-en-Provence, France, daughter of the late Emile and Marguerite Gralndorge Besse.
She graduated from the University of Marseilles with a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy. She worked for the U.S. Army’s 6th Port Medical Center following the liberation of France in 1944. She came to the United States in April 1946 and became a naturalized citizen in 1952.
She and her family moved to New Milford in 1966. She was employed by Colonial Bank for 19 years, retiring in 1985.
She was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Church, New Milford, where she served as a tutor for confirmation candidates.
She was active in Alliance Francaise, and she served as a mentor in the New Milford public schools.
Mrs. Cignoli is survived by a son, Richard of Watertown; three daughters, Micheline of Lowell, Mass., Nicole of Derby and Jacqueline Kulick of Coppell, Texas; a brother, Georges Besse of Nice, France; seven grandchildren, Michael of Watertown, Alexandra, Noelle and Spencer Horelik of Lowell, Brittany and Jennifer Kulick of Coppell, and Adam Heaton of Tacoma, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lorette Heaton.

Donald C. Campbell, 79, had been K-C employee
Donald Colin Campbell, 79, formerly of 16 Birchwood Drive, New Milford, died Sept. 30 at Mediplex of Danbury. He was the widower of Betty (Jacobs) Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was born May 4, 1923, in Alberta, Canada, son of the late Arthur and Muriel Campbell.
He spent his early years in Roscoe, N.Y. He worked for the maintenance department of Kimberly-Clark and retired in 1983.
He is survived by four step-sons, John Lynch of Virginia, Robert Lynch of New Milford, Thomas Lynch of Madison, Ala., and Richard Lynch of Wingdale, N.Y.; four nieces, Kathy Grant of Sherman, Dawn Warrier of Northfield, Ramona Weeks of Kent and Marsha Collins of Bridgeport; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James McManus, 81, was brother of New Milford man
James Lawrence McManus, 81, died Sept. 28 at Candlewood Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in New Milford following a long illness.
Mr. McManus was born May 1, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late John Francis and Helen (Cleary) McManus.
He was a graduate of New York University and was an accountant in upstate New York for much of his life, prior to moving to New Milford five years ago.
He is survived by a brother, John III of New Milford; two nieces, Kathleen Wolf and Jane D’Angelo of Boston; two nephews, Stephen of Oneonta, N.Y., and John IV of St. Augustine, Fla.; two great-nephews, David and Matthew Wolf.

John Tulipani, 79, father of Bridgewater woman
John Tulipani, 79, of 77 Ivy Hill Road, Ridgefield, died Sept. 28 at his home. He was the husband of Janice (Hunt) Tulipani.
Mr. Tulipani was born Dec. 28, 1922, in Ridgefield, a son of the late Vincenzo and Evelina (Branchini) Tulipani.
He attended local schools and graduated from the Ridgefield High School.
He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a shipfitter, 2nd class, and was a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor.
Mr. Tulipani was a member of the Italian American Mutual Aid Society, the Old Timers Athletic Association of Ridgefield and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, all of Ridgefield.
In October 1994, the Old Timers Athletic Association honored him for his outstanding sports achievements and presented him with the Sports Award.
Besides his wife, Mr. Tulipani is survived by three sons, Michael and his wife Robin of Stratford, Robert and his wife Karen of Newtown and Thomas of Houston, Texas; seven daughters, Susan France of Queensbury, N.Y., Teresa Rich and her husband Matthew of Prineville, Ore., Evelyn Redmond and her husband Timothy of Goffstown, N.H., Judith Espitee and her fiancé Larry Kish of Bridgewater, Elizabeth McKnight and her husband William of Ridgefield, Diane of San Diego, and Lynn of Ridgefield; three brothers, Aldo, Joseph and his wife Anne, and Alfred and his wife Mary of Ridgefield; a sister, Ada Walker of Ridgefield; a sister-in-law, Barbara of Ridgefield; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ole J. Wolff, 89, was father of Warren resident
Ole J. Wolff, 89, of Shelton died Sept. 5 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the husband of May (Hill) Wolff.
Mr. Wolff was born Nov. 21, 1912, in Shelton, son of the late August and Anna (Sattler) Wolff. He was a lifelong Shelton resident.
He worked as a shipping clerk for Dupont in Newtown before his retirement in 1977.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert of Warren; a daughter, Judy Soboleski and her husband Joseph of Trumbull; a brother, Edward of Shelton; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Eleanor Hardisty of Woodbury; two brothers, August and William; and four sisters, Edith Sullivan, Elizabeth Bristol, Anna Ericson and Elsie Thomas.
Robert McIntosh Sr., 49, brother of New Milford man
Robert James McIntosh Sr., 49, of 461 Bucks Hill Road, Waterbury, died Sept. 24 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Lauren Ann (DeGrosse) McIntosh.
Mr. McIntosh was born Aug. 29, 1953, in Danbury, son of William McIntosh of Dallas, Texas, and Jeanne (Masterson) McIntosh of Dennisport, Mass.
He worked at the McCall Foundation in Torrington for 10 years. He enjoyed flying and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by two sons, Robert Jr. and Jamie of Waterbury; two brothers, William of New Milford and John of Willmington, N.C.; a sister, Jaime of Dennisport, Maine; and three grandchildren.

Laverne Lieberum, 68, longtime New Milfordite
Laverne (Sawin) Lieberum, 68, of New Milford died Oct. 31 at Maine Medical Center after a long illness. She was the wife of Robert C. Lieberum.
Mrs. Lieberum was born Feb. 19, 1934, in New Haven, the daughter of Raymond R. and Inez (Mossberg) Sawin.
She graduated from UConn’s school of nursing, married and spent 18 months in France with her husband before they settled in New Milford in 1960.
She was a member of The First Congregational Church of New Milford. She summered at Higgins Beach, Maine, and spent winters in Stuart, Fla.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Robert and his wife Louise of Gorham, Maine, and Wayne and his wife Eva of Westmore, Vt.; two daughters, Christine and her husband Greg Miller of New Milford, and Gretchen of Scarborough, Maine; four grandchildren, Jeffrey of Westmore, Danielle and her husband Luke Conley of Glover, Vt., and Aaron and Nikolas of Gorham; two sisters, Beverly and her husband John Davie of Bethany, and Aldryth and her husband Norman Bedner of Milford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

David A. Hansen, 59, was a native of New Milford
David A. Hansen, 59, of West Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of New Milford, died Nov. 1 in Florida.
Mr. Hansen was born Aug. 29, 1943, in New Milford, son of Ethel (Beatty) (Chase) Hansen of St. Petersburg, Fla., and the late Everett Hansen.
He is survived by two sons, John and David of West Palm Beach; a daughter, Rae-Marie of Gaylordsville; and four granddaughters. He was predeceased by a daughter, Susan.

Helen Flynn, 80, was a resident of New Milford
Helen Janet (Bouton) Flynn, 80, of Butter Brook Hill Apartments, New Milford, died Oct. 29 at New Milford Hospital after a long illness. She was the widow of Matthew James Flynn.
Mrs. Flynn was born Aug. 19, 1922, in Pleasantville, N.Y., daughter of the late Oscar and Lillian (Patterson) Bouton.
She retired as a secretary from Scovil Manufacturing Company in New Milford after 15 years of service.
She is survived by a son, Michael of Long Beach, Ind.; a sister, Elenore Alhback; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, David.
