Robert Starr, 64, former longtime K-C employee
Robert Starr, 64, of Melbourne, Fla., died unexpectedly at his home.
Mr. Starr was born Sept. 5, 1938, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Wilhelmina (Gormley) Starr of Danbury and the late Gerald Starr.
He attended Danbury schools and lived in the Danbury area for most of his life. He served with the United States National Guard. He was a retired millwright and worked for many years at Kimberly-Clark in New Milford.
Besides his mother, he is survived by a son, Robert of the United States Navy; three daughters, Susan Revell of Danbury, Leslie Sobek of Stratford and Jennifer of Danbury; six grandchildren; 11 nieces and nephews; three brothers, Stephen of Hebron, N.Y., Vincent of Danbury and Leonard of Rogue River, Ore.; and two sisters, Elizabeth Linke and Frances Weston of Danbury.
The Brookfield Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James Hoy, 54, was a resident of New Milford
James Joseph Hoy, 54, of New Milford, formerly of Brewster, N.Y., died March 8 at Westchester Medical Center in New York. He was the husband of Margaret “Margie” Knapp.
Mr. Hoy was born March 13, 1948, in the Bronx, N.Y., son of the late Edwin and Ethel Veronica (Noonan) Hoy.
He was a graduate of Mahopac High School in New York and attended SUNY-Delhi. He was an operating engineer for 21 years and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 137.
Besides his wife, Mr. Hoy is survived by two daughters, Danielle Platis of Rome, N.Y., and Lorraine of New Milford; a brother, Edwin of Carmel, N.Y.; and three sisters, Eileen Prins of St. Petersburg, Fla., Kathryn Hawn of Hickory, N.C., and Patricia of Green Bay, Va.
The Beecher Funeral Home of Brewster, N.Y., was in charge of arrangements.

John Pallas Jr., 61, father of New Milford woman
John Pallas Jr., 61, formerly of Newtown, died March 4 at West Haven Veterans Hospital. He was the husband of Roberta (Bozzomo) Pallas.
Mr. Pallas was born June 3, 1941, in Huntington, N.Y., the son of the late John Sr. and Mary (Kerilla) Pallas.
He was a graduate of Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport and a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked in the printing industry and owned Pal-4 Printing.
Besides his wife, Mr. Pallas is survived by two sons, John III and his wife Sarah of Monroe, and Jason of New Haven; a daughter, Kirsten and her husband Mark Daab of New Milford; three grandchildren, Hunter and Jordyn Daab and Ashley Pallas; a brother, George of Branford; a sister, Joan Fitzgerald of Ansonia; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Stolle, 89, was a resident of Warren
Mary (Watt) Stolle, 89, of Warren died March 4 at New Milford Nursing Home. She was the widow of Charles F.L. Stolle.
Mrs. Stolle was born March 13, 1913, in Ridgefield, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Watt.
She lived in Ridgefield for over 40 years. She was a nurse’s aide and was later employed by Monoplastics, formerly located in Redding. During that time, she also did housework for various families in the Ridgefield-Georgetown area.
She is survived by two sons, John of Warren and Thomas of Arizona; a sister, Alice Anabel of Poughquag, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was predeceased by two sons, Donald and Robert, and a sister, Jean Anderson.

Beverly Willis, 66, sister of New Milford woman
Beverly A. Willis, 66, of Rocky Glen Apartments, Danbury, died March 9.
Ms. Willis was born Oct. 26, 1936, in Danbury, daughter of Barbara (Couchevitz) Willis of Brookfield and the late Chester Willis.
She was a graduate of Brookfield schools and had worked as a customer service representative for CL&P/Yankee Gas Co.
Besides her mother, she is survived by two sons, Troy Andros of Blandford, Mass., and Richard Andros of Lamoine, Maine; a daughter, Paige O’Neill of Australia; five sisters, Shirley Massena of Danbury, Barbara O’Connell and Virginia Beck of Brookfield, Doris Tillman of Mahopac, N.Y., and Faye Ballard of New Milford; a brother, Vern of Okeechobee, Fla.; five grandchildren, Cory, Ryan, Shelby, Emma and Ivan Andros; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 3 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.

Valerie Spies, 48, was a New Milford resident
Valerie Spies, 48, of Willow Springs, New Milford, died March 10 at The Kent.
Miss Spies was born March 1, 1955, in Merrick, N.Y., daughter of Peggy (Samuels) Spies and the late Jerome Spies.
She had been a resident of New Milford since 1995.
Besides her mother, she is survived by two sisters, Michele Pirnak of Manoville, N.Y., and Geraldine Spies of Harvard, Mass., and four nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 1 p.m. at the Salem Covenant Church, Baldwin Hill, Washington.

Margaret Wahlstrom, 79, resident of New Milford
Margaret M. Wahlstrom, 79, of New Milford, formerly of 40 Williams St., Danbury, died March 3 at New Milford Nursing Home.
Ms. Wahlstrom was born in Danbury, daughter of Madeline (Rielless) Skelly of New Milford and the late Charles Skelly.
She was employed as a machine operator for Amphenol Corp., retiring after numerous years of service.
Besides her mother, she is survived by two sisters, Kathleen Mazinski and Julie DeBonis; four brothers, Stephen, John, Walter and Michael Skelly; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Dollar Jr., 63, had owned Vicky’s Drive-In
Robert Thomas Dollar Jr., 63, of 2055 Powell Road, St. Augustine, Fla., died March 3 after a lengthy illness. He was the former owner of Vicky’s Drive-In in New Milford. The Leo Gallagher Funeral Home of Greenwich was in charge of arrangements.
Richard Hurley, 69, was a New Milford resident
Richard J. Hurley, 69, of Willow Springs, New Milford, died March 6 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
Mr. Hurley was born Dec. 23, 1933, son of the late Joseph and Mary Hurley.
Prior to moving to New Milford in 1996, he was a 25-year resident of Monroe. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as an insurance adjuster, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Commercial Union. He enjoyed collecting stamps, toys and baseball cards.
He is survived by a son, Richard and his wife Rachel of Seymour; two daughters, Eileen and her husband Mark Volosin of New Milford and Kathleen and her husband Brian Torreso of Newtown; two grandchildren, Brianna Schmitt and Fallon Torreso; a sister, Elizabeth Mergens of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

Flora Robson, 86, was a native of New Milford
Flora Stella (Townsend) Robson, 86, formerly of Willow Trail, Danbury, died March 10 at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan. She was the widow of George H. Robson.
Mrs. Robson was born March 8, 1917, in New Milford, daughter of the late Albert and Ida (Platt) Townsend.
She was a lifelong resident of Danbury and worked for the Risdon Manufacturing Company during the 1960s.
She is survived by three sons, George of Norwood, Mass., Leon of Danbury and Lester of Falls Village; a daughter, Joan Colucci of Florida; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ruth Ann Davis.

Kenneth Stebbins Sr., 81, was New Milford native
Kenneth H. Stebbins Sr., 81, of 8 Harwood Drive, Danbury, died March 7 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of Irene (Anderson) Stebbins.
Mr. Stebbins was born Sept. 28, 1921, in New Milford, son of the late Fred and Alice (Ett) Stebbins.
Before his retirement, he worked for Laidlaw Bus Company for many years. He had lived in Danbury for the past 50 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Paul of Glen Lyon, Pa., and Kenny of Danbury; a brother, Robert of New Britain; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Aura Donaldson, 92, mother of New Milford woman
Aura C. Donaldson, 92, of Wilton died March 5 at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Chase Donaldson.
Mrs. Donaldson was born April 22, 1910, in Bogota, Colombia.
She came to the United States in the 1930s. She had a successful clothing design business and owned several restaurants. She moved to Wilton in 1988 and recently began painting in watercolors.
She is survived by a son, Chase of Louisville, Ky.; a daughter, Aura Carr of New Milford; and a granddaughter.

Virginia Toner, 68, mother of Bridgewater resident
Virginia O. Toner, 68, formerly of Stamford, died Feb. 27 at the Jupiter Medical Center, Palm Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Toner was the daughter of Helen and Ture Ottoson.
She was a graduate of Mother of God Academy and was a member of St. Benedict’s and St. Mary’s Church of Stamford.
She was employed at Machlett Laboratories in Springdale as a customer service manager for 40 years, retiring in 1987.
Mrs. Toner is survived by a daughter, Patricia Freitag Dempsey of Bridgewater; two brothers, Robert and George Ottoson of Tampa, Fla.; and two grandsons, Matthew and Douglas Freitag. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Jr., and a sister, Marie Genovese.
Edward Turosky, 77, had family in New Milford
Edward B. Turosky, 77, of Sandy Hook, formerly of Brookfield Center, died March 10 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Jean (Stevenson) Turosky.
Mr. Turosky was born June 10, 1925, in Danbury, son of the late Joseph and Frances (Prybylski) Turosky.
He grew up in Danbury and graduated from Sacred Heart School. He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Before his retirement in 1987, he worked at Heli-Coil for 27 years. He lived in Brookfield Center for 34 years before moving to Sandy Hook.
Besides his wife, Mr. Turosky is survived by two sisters, Nellie Dekany and Mary Barton of Danbury; four sisters-in-law, Ann Main and her husband James of Bethel, Sally Barry and her husband Stuart of Deerfield Beach, Fla., Kathryn Stevens and her husband Howard of New Milford, and Joan Bond and her husband George of Hudson, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Theodore and Joseph; a sister, Anne Walker; and a nephew, Robert Pickert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place today (Friday) at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
