Priscilla Woodworth, 85, mother of local man
Priscilla Woodworth, 85, of Village Square, Danbury, died April 13 at her home. She was the wife of Robert T. Woodworth.
Mrs. Woodworth was born Jan. 16, 1918, in Salem, Mass., daughter of the late Frederick and Ethel (Parlee) Elwell.
She had lived in Massachusetts until she moved to Danbury in 1941.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Woodworth is survived by two daughters, Sandra Scalzo of Danbury and Debra of Brookfield; a son, Robert and his wife Patricia of New Milford; two brothers, Robert Elwell of Danbury and Frederick Elwell of Litchfield; four grandchildren, David Scalzo, Elizabeth Krafick, Jami Woodworth and Robert Gregory; and three great-grandchildren, Kori, Kendall and Kyle. She was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia Kucker and Elsie Gagnon, and a son-in-law, Harry Scalzo.

James Ginise, 67, father of New Milford woman
James L. “The Chief” Ginise, 67, of Bethel, formerly of Stamford, Greenwich and Danbury, died April 14 at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Ginise was born March 25, 1936, in Stamford, the son of Frances (Sclafani) Ginise of Stamford and the late James L. Ginise Sr.
He was raised and educated in Greenwich and lived there until moving to Danbury in the early 1970s. He had resided in Bethel since 1985.
Mr. Ginise was employed as a union steam fitter for 30 years, affiliated with the Pipe Fitters Local 777, during which he worked in the Stamford and Bridgeport areas. He also worked at the Millstone and Indian Point power plants.
He was a former member of the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge of Danbury.
Besides his mother, he is survived by three daughters, Joyce of Norwich, Joan Coprio of Stamford and Jacki Piskura of New Milford; a brother, Michael of Greenwich; three grandchildren, Claudia Coprio, Courtney Coles and Zachary Piskura; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife and friend, Joan of Danbury.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a date and time to be announced. There are no calling hours.

Catherine Bristol, 86, ex-Animal Welfare volunteer
Catherine Marie Bristol, 86, of Marco Island, Fla., died April 11 in Naples, Fla. She was the widow of Milton B. Bristol.
Mrs. Bristol was born Jan. 12, 1917, in Woodside, N.Y., daughter of the late James and Mary Ellen (McDonnell) Fennelly.
She was employed by Sears Roebuck & Co. in New York City until 1958, when she moved to New Milford, where she was employed by Kent Manufacturing Co., retiring after numerous years of service.
She was a volunteer for the New Milford Animal Welfare Society and also served as its treasurer for many years.
Mrs. Bristol was a seasonal resident of Marco Island from 1985 to 2001, when she became a permanent resident.
She is survived by a son, Kevin and his wife Dolores of Somerset, N.J.; a daughter, Susan Kubat and her husband Kenneth of Marco Island; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, James and John Fennelly, and a sister, Helen McPhillips.

Ernest Swanson, 83, New Preston native, was active in Washington
Ernest C. Swanson, 83, of New Preston died April 19 at New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Janice B. (Benham) Swanson.
Mr. Swanson was born Jan. 25, 1920, in New Preston, the son of the late Carl J. and Elsie A. (Cogswell) Swanson.
He was educated at the former Washington High School. He was a World War II veteran and served overseas in the Army Combat Engineers, 1276 Co. C. Motor Pool, in the European theater.
Mr. Swanson was employed by the town of Washington for seven years and then worked for the Connecticut Department of Transportation as a crew leader for 25 years. After his retirement, he drove a school bus for Laidlaw in Washington for 28 years.
He was a member of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department from 1941 to 1973 and a 46-year member of the American Legion. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Washington.
Besides his wife, Mr. Swanson is survived by a son, Richard of Bantam; a daughter, Diane of New Preston; a sister, Ruth Stefan of Danbury; two nephews; a niece; and four great nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Albert.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church on the Green in Washington.

Sophie Muehlfeld, 82, sister of local woman
Sophie (Deitz) Muehlfeld, 82, of Hospital Avenue, Danbury, died April 20 at her home. She was the wife of Otto Muehlfeld.
Mrs. Muehlfeld was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Danbury, daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Labinski) Deitz.
She was a lifelong Danbury resident. Prior to her retirement, she had worked at Papish Manufacturing Corporation in Danbury.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Muehlfeld is survived by two sisters, Mildred Derbin of Danbury and Thelma Hill of New Milford; a granddaughter, Dawn Arnold of New Milford; four great-grandchildren, Kara, Garrett, Matthew and Zachary Arnold; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Preininger; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be private.

Angelo Leone Sr., 57, resident of New Milford
Angelo Leone Sr., 57, of Red Cedar Drive, New Milford, died April 16 at New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Rose Marie (Hall) Leone.
Mr. Leone was born July 4, 1945, in Italy, son of Rosa (Cuocci) Leone and the late Nicola Leone.
He worked as a retail distributor for the Pepsi Co. for 15 years and was a parishioner of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church of Brookfield.
He especially enjoyed making custom gun stocks. He was a member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association and was a trap shoot instructor.
Besides his mother of Venice, Fla., and his wife, Mr. Leone is survived by two sons, Angelo Jr. and his wife Marie, and Nicholas of New Milford; a granddaughter, Tori; a sister, Angela Ricciardi of Montgomery, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Brenda Pickert, 60, New Milford Hospital nurse
Brenda (Blasy) Pickert, 60, of 306 Milton Road, Litchfield, died April 18 at New Milford Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of Francis Pickert.
Mrs. Pickert was born Dec. 5, 1942, in Danbury, the daughter of Elsie (Weber) Miller of Danbury and the late John Blasy.
She graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School in Danbury, from Danbury High School, and from Danbury Hospital School of Nursing in 1963.
She moved to Litchfield in 1977 and was employed as an emergency room nurse at New Milford Hospital for 25 years.
Mrs. Pickert was actively involved in the Litchfield community, serving as the president of the Board of Education for several years. She was on the Student Teacher Parent Council and on the Park and Recreation Commission for a number of years. She was also actively involved in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Cornwall, serving on the Church Council.
Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Pickert is survived by her stepfather, George Miller of Danbury; a son, John of Jersey City, N.J.; two daughters, Debby of North Bergen N.J., and Lori Ann Doyle of Warwick R.I.; three sisters, Linda DaSilva of Danbury, Joan Hislop of Bethel and Barbara Stephens of Monroe; two grandchildren, Clare Ann and Glenn Francis Doyle of Warwick, R.I.; and several nieces and nephews.

Suzanne McInerney, 88, mother of local residents
Suzanne M. McInerney, 88, of Ridgefield, formerly of Danbury, died April 16 at Danbury Hospital.
Mrs. McInerney was born Feb. 22, 1915, in Bronx, N.Y., daughter of the late Valentine and Palmyre Burns.
She was a graduate of Montclair High School in Montclair, N.J., and a graduate of St. Barnabas Hospital in Newark, N.J., where she received registered nurse’s training.
She moved to Danbury in 1958 and had worked at Danbury Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and the Glen Hill Convalescent Home prior to retirement. She was a member of the Walnut Hill Community Church of Bethel.
Mrs. McInerney is survived by five daughters, Patricia Rimany of Kent, Judith Connors of Youngstown, Ohio, Sandra Stolba of Norwalk, Barbara Shaughnessy of New Fairfield and Linda Gibby of Agawam, Mass.; a son, Michael of New Preston; a stepsister, Gwen Cameron, of Wilmington, Del.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Burns; and a stepbrother, John Gray.

Salvatore Olivas, 68, worked for Henry Kissinger
Salvatore Olivas, 68, of 5 Kenico Road, South Kent, died April 22 at The Kent. He was the husband of Margarita (Lopez) Olivas.
Mr. Olivas was born Jan. 27, 1935, in Sardinia, Padru, Italy.
He moved to Kent 20 years ago from Massachusetts to be estate manager for the Henry Kissinger estate in Kent. He retired in 2000.
Besides his wife, Mr. Olivas is survived by a son, Richard of Kent; a daughter, Beatrice of San Francisco; a brother, Pietro of Sardinia; and two sisters, Pina Lupioi of Rome, Italy, and Mariucha Escano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today (Friday) at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Kent. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kent.
Friends may call today from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford.

Antoinette Voccia, 95, longtime cook at Pettibone
Antoinette “Nellie” (Cappello) Voccia, formerly of Simeon Road, Bethel, died April 17 at Heritage Heights in Danbury. She was the widow of Gerald Voccia.
Mrs. Voccia was born July 19, 1907, in Whitehall, N.Y., daughter of the late Augustine and Maria (Simone) Cappello.
She was a cook at John Pettibone School in New Milford for many years and was a parishioner of St. Mary Church in Bethel.
Mrs. Voccia is survived by her daughters-in-law, Martha and Jeanette; four grandchildren, Vincent, Donna Aravena, Sharon DiBuono and Susan Schenck; and two brothers, Nicholas and Roger Cappello. She was predeceased by two sons, Vincent Sr. and Gerald.

Joseph Staresinic, 61, was New Milford resident
Joseph Staresinic, 61, of Lake Worth, Fla., and New Milford died April 10 in an automobile accident in Fort Pierce, Fla.
Mr. Staresinic was a native of Yugoslavia.
He was an antiques dealer, an appraiser and a real estate agent. He belonged to the American Begonia Society and American Orchid Society.
He is survived by his companion, Leonard Statkewicz.
A memorial service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Wednesday at 11 a.m. A memorial service will also take place this summer in New Milford.
