Peter Pastorok, 86, had family in Gaylordsville
Peter Pastorok, 86, of Danbury died July 15 at Hancock Hall Health Care Center. He was the husband of Doris (Donofrio) Pastorok and the widower of Kathryn (Gillotte) Pastorok.
Mr. Pastorok was born June 16, 1917, in Danbury, son of the late John and Susie (Galyo) Pastorok.
He was a graduate of Danbury High School, received a degree in business administration, and was an accounting major at Becker Junior College, Worcester, Mass.
He was an Army Air Corps World War II veteran, serving with the 335th Bomb Group and 475th Bomb Squadron where he was a gunner and staff sergeant.
Mr. Pastorok was general manager/vice president of the former Terry Lumber Co. of Bethel, and later was employed by the former J.E. Kleiner Inc. of Bethel, John O’Byrne Inc. of Newtown and the former Rust-Lick Inc. of Danbury.
He was the past president and treasurer of the Newtown Country Club, past state president of United Cerebral Palsy Association of Connecticut, a third-degree Knight of Columbus and a corporator of The Newtown Savings Bank.
Besides his wife, Mr. Pastorok is survived by a daughter, Doreen of Danbury; a son, Robert of Seattle, Wash.; a stepson, Richard Donofrio of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Dayle Elsesser and her husband Charles of Gaylordsville, and Dr. Lisa Donofrio and her husband Brian Valzania of New Haven; a brother, Michael of Levittown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Peter Jr.; and two brothers, George and John.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today (Friday) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel.
The Green Funeral Home of Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

Judith Whitney, 63, was mother of Roxbury woman
Judith F. Whitney, 63, of Bethlehem, formerly of Washington, died July 7 at New Milford Hospital.
Mrs. Whitney was born in San Diego, daughter of Navy Vice Adm. Emmet P. Forrestel.
She grew up living on Navy bases around the country and Europe. She attended college at Carnegie Tech and Colorado College.
She worked in New York for the American Wool Institute and the Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, before moving to Washington in 1966.
In the 1970s, Mrs. Whitney and her former husband, Thomas, owned and operated a thoroughbred breeding and racing operation.
In 1973, she became the owner and operator of West Hill Camp in New Hartford and later raised miniature horses, pigs and hedgehogs at Little World Farm in Bethlehem.
She served as president of the New England Miniature Horse Society, and worked with a therapeutic horseback riding program and Connecticut Volunteers in service to the Blind and Handicapped.
Mrs. Whitney is survived by a daughter, Julie of Roxbury; and a grandson.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at Roxbury Congregational Church.

Emil K. Gruber, 94, had daughters in area towns
Emil K. Gruber, 94, of Putnam Lake, N.Y., died July 12 in Brewster, N.Y. He was the widower of Cornelia H. (Marks) Gruber.
Mr. Gruber was born March 28, 1909, in Wurzburg, Germany, son of George and Anna Maria (Margarele) Gruber. He attended schools in Germany and came to the United States in 1929.
He was owner and operator of Shuttleworth Plumbing in Old Greenwich for many years, retiring in 1974. He had lived in Port Chester, N.Y., for 45 years before moving to Putnam Lake after his retirement.
Mr. Gruber is survived by a son, Roy of Dover Plains; two daughters, Cornelia Backman of New Milford and Linda King of Bridgewater; six grandchildren, Bret and Bart Backman of Danbury, Lisa of Mt. Kisco, Erik of Dover Plains, Candice King of Bethel and Sunshine King of New Fairfield; and a great-grandchild, Brandon Backman of Danbury. He was pre-deceased by a son, Terrace.

Bruce Bailey Jr., 42, was a resident of Washington
Bruce Bailey Jr., 42, of 93 Old Litchfield Road, Washington, died July 11 at his home. He was the husband of Lee (Hills) Bailey.
Mr. Bailey was born Oct. 25, 1960, in New Milford, son of Carol (Norton) Cherniske of New Preston and the late Bruce M. Bailey Sr.
He was a graduate of Shepaug Valley High School and was a machine operator and truck driver for Iapaluccio Inc. of Brookfield.
Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Bailey is survived by two sons, Justin and Stephen of Washington; two brothers, John of Torrington and Edward of New Milford; a sister, Ann Raynor of Kent; and several nieces and nephews.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.

Theodora Aquila, 82, was a New Milford resident
Theodora “Babe” Aquila, 82, of New Milford died July 11 at her home. She was the widow of John Aquila.
Mrs. Aquila was born April 27, 1921, in Stamford, a daughter of the late Giovanni and Mariangela (Cosentino) Valenti.
She was a homemaker and a former member of the Rosary Altar Society of Sacred Heart Church. She was a resident of Stamford prior to moving to New Milford 16 years ago.
Mrs. Aquila is survived by a son, Julio of New Milford; a brother, Frank Valenti of Stamford; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, William and Albert Valenti; and three sisters, Jennie Itri, Catherine Esposito and Frances DeFrancesco.
The Lacerenza Funeral Home of Stamford was in charge of arrangements.

William Sheehy Jr., 76, father of New Milfordite
William C. “Will” Sheehy Jr., 76, of Woodland Road, Waterbury, died July 8 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Margaret (Casey) Sheehy.
Mr. Sheehy was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Waterbury, son of the late William Sr. and Nora (Sullivan) Sheehy.
He was educated in local schools and was a parishioner of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Waterbury.
Mr. Sheehy was a survivor of the World War II battle of Iwo Jima. He was a mortarman and a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. He also served in the Guam campaign.
He worked for the James S. Sullivan Cable Company in Waterbury and retired as president in 1998.
Mr. Sheehy served as Little League and youth basketball coach in Middlebury and as a member of the Selective Service Board during Vietnam. He was a member of the Country Club of Waterbury.
Besides his wife, Mr. Sheehy is survived by two sons, William III of Middlebury and John of New Milford; three daughters, Elizabeth of Middlebury, and Katherine and Anne of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; a brother, Stephen of Watertown; four sisters, Sr. Catherine and Sr. Anita of the Sisters of Mercy in Norwalk, Evelyn Dibble of Branford and Jeanne Farrell of Waterbury; and five grandchildren.
The Casey-O’Donnell Family Funeral Home of Waterbury was in charge of the arrangements.

Terry Kochman, 67, was mother of New Milfordite
Terry Ellyn Bark Kochman, 67, of Milford died July 13 at her home. She was the wife of Joseph Kochman.
Mrs. Kochman was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a resident of Milford for 33 years.
She was a retired psychologist, serving several school systems throughout Connecticut.
She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Pet Protectors and The Eastbound Theater in Milford. She was a member of the Wepawaug Hadassah in Orange and the ACBL as a Silver Lifemaster.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Kochman is survived by four sons, Harold Rubin and Scott of Brooklyn, Larry and his wife Norci of Fairfield, and Jerold and his wife Shari Lynn of New Milford; four grandchildren, Naomi, Kimberly, Sidney and Isaac; a brother; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Lesko Funeral Home of Fairfield handled arrangements.

William Dodd, 90, was a native of New Milford
William Henry Dodd, 90, of Pickett District Road, New Milford, died July 14 at his home.
Mr. Dodd was born June 8, 1913, in New Milford, son of the late Ralph C. and Elizabeth (Adams) Dodd.
He was a lifelong resident of New Milford and worked as a farmer on the family farm. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Mr. Dodd is survived by a brother, R. Robert; and two sisters, Helen Disbrow and Joan Ringenberg.
The Colonial Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.

Craig F. Bosley, 53, was Kimberly-Clark employee
Craig F. Bosley, 53, of Wingdale, N.Y., died July 16. He was the husband of Carolyn Massiero.
Mr. Bosley was born March 9, 1950, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., son of Theresa (Pickering) Bosley and the late Clifford J. Bosley.
He was employed as a process technician at Kimberly-Clark Corp., New Milford, where he worked for 24 years. He was also a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, Dover Plains, N.Y.
Besides his wife, Mr. Bosley is survived by his former wife, Beverly (Way) Bosley of Dover Plains; three sons, Craig of Katy, Texas, Scott of Dover Plains, and Eric of Rochester; two brothers, Kelly of New Milford, and Terry of Castleton, N.Y.; a sister, Tami Berg of Dannemora, N.Y.; and a granddaughter, Airanna.
The Hufcut Funeral Home of Dover Plains was in charge of arrangements.

Viola E. Devendorf, 85, was on Board of Realtors
Viola E. (Butler) Devendorf, 85, of Yarmouthport, Mass., died July 13 at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, Mass. She was the widow of George H. Devendorf.
Mrs. Devendorf was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She graduated from Bushwick High School, Class of 1935. She earned her G.R.I. designation from the University of Hartford.
She moved to Connecticut, where she worked as an executive secretary, office manager and Realtor.
Mrs. Devendorf served on the Board of Realtors in Danbury and New Milford, was a board member of the Visiting Nurse Association, and was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, Laurel Chapter of the Women’s Council of Realtors and the Community Development Plan Committee.
She moved to Yarmouthport after retiring in 1982.
Mrs. Devendorf is survived by a son and daughter in law, John and Carol of Milford, Mass.; a sister, Virginia Butler of Elmira, N.Y.; two grandsons, Brian of Lynn, Mass., and Sean of Milford, Mass.
Donations in her memory may be made to the scholarship fund of the Milford Performing Arts Center, 16 Windsor Road, Milford, MA 02675; or to the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Cape Cod, 225 Independence Drive, Hyannis, MA 02601.
