Nina L. Millard, 88, was a native of Gaylordsville
Nina L. (Jennings) (Page) Millard, 88, of Pleasant View Drive, Marble Dale, died July 23 at Candlewood Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in New Milford. She was the wife of Harold S. Millard.
Mrs. Millard was born Jan. 1, 1915, in Gaylordsville, daughter of the late Roy and Lena (Wheeler) Jennings.
For several years she worked at Wassaic State School and also was substitute mail carrier. She was an active leader in youth organizations and raised ponies.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Millard is survived by a son, Gerald Page of Hudson, N.Y.; a daughter, Vivian Atwood of Chandler, Ariz.; a stepson, John of Bantam; two stepdaughters, Betty Waugh of Lakeside and Barbara Babiyan of Warren; a brother, Myron Jennings of South Kent; a sister, Bertha Pettih of Kinderhook, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The Rowe Funeral Home of Litchfield handled arrangements.

Jane E. Earley, 56, daughter of Roxbury woman
Jane Eaton (Miller) Earley, 56, of 35 East Mountain Village Road, Waterbury, died July 17 at her home. She was the former wife of William A. Earley.
Mrs. Earley was born July 30, 1946, in Stamford, daughter of Helen (Belomyzy) Miller of Roxbury and the late Daniel Eaton Miller.
She graduated from Washington High School and lived in Cheshire for many years before moving to Waterbury. She was the owner of Terese Answering Service in Waterbury. She was a member of Christ Church Episcopal in Roxbury.
Besides her mother, Mrs. Earley is survived by a daughter, Diana of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Barbara Miller of Kent, and Laurie Miller of Bridgewater; and a grandson, Peter of Cheshire. She was predeceased by a son, Peter.
The Slater Funeral Home of Cheshire was in charge of arrangements.

Amanda Doychak, 12, was a student at Sarah Noble
Amanda Laura Doychak, 12, of New Milford died Aug. 1 at her home after a long illness.
Amanda was born April 10, 1991, in New Milford, daughter of Richard and Carla (Thompson) Doychak of New Milford.
She was a student at Sarah Noble Intermediate School in New Milford. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her other enjoyments were dancing, singing, cheerleading, basketball and shopping.
Besides her parents, Amanda is survived by two brothers, Richard and Ryan of New Milford; her maternal grandparents, Arden and Shirley Thompson of New Milford; her paternal grandparents, Raymond and Antoinette Doychak of Sarasota, Fla.; several aunts and uncles, Sherry Austin, Mike Thompson, Steve and Jane Thompson, Chris and Kim Doris, Nancy Lee, Ray and Donna Doychak, and Scott and Dawn Pitcher, all of New Milford, Dave and Cheryl Bento of Prospect, Douglas and Brenda Doychak of Atlanta, and Robert Doychak of Waterbury; and several cousins.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.

Cheryl Lynn Chase, 39, was a New Milford native
Cheryl Lynn Chase, 39, of 3 Eden Lane, New Milford, died July 28 at her home.
Ms. Chase was born July 6, 1964, in New Milford, daughter of Robert A. and Diane (Nelson) Chase of New Preston.
She was employed as a home health aide with Visiting Angels, Inc., of Brookfield. She graduated from Shepaug Valley Regional High School, Class of 1982, and graduated from the University of Connecticut, Class of 1986. She was a member of the New Preston Congregational Church.
Besides her parents, Ms. Chase is survived by her fianc�, Chris Otteson Jr. of Redding; her paternal grandmother, Miriam Chase of Bennington, Vt.; her maternal grandmother, Ethelyn Triplett of Summerfield, Fla.; three aunts, Donna Ocif of Torrington, Susan Emma of Sarasota, Fla., and Evelyn Fennell of Canfield, Ohio; an uncle, Richard Nelson of New Milford; and several cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Bradley.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Richard Kerr, 66, father of New Milford woman
Dr. Richard D. Kerr, 66, of Macomb, Ill., died Aug. 1 at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. He was the husband of Mary Lou Oliver.
Dr. Kerr was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Ft. Madison, Iowa, the son of George and Virgil (Schafer) Kerr.
He married Wanda Howerton April 6, 1958. He married Mary Lou Oliver Dec. 27, 1986, in Macomb.
He was a 1954 graduate of Ft. Madison High School and a 1957 graduate of Palmer Chiropractic College. He was Hancock County coroner for 23 years and a member of the First Christian Church of Macomb, where he was an elder and deacon. He was also a member of the Rotary Club, Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge.
Besides his wife, Dr. Kerr is also survived by a son, Scott of Kansas City, Mo.; five daughters, Stacy Goralczyk of San Diego, Shala Kisling of New Milford, Stephanie Ragains of Varna, Ill., Lesa Barry of Macomb and Stacy Miller of Rushville, Ill.; and 13 grandchildren, Ryan and Jennifer Kerr, Alexander, Joshua and Trevor Goralczyk, Andrew, Kaitlin and Austin Kisling, Caleb and Marcus Barry, Dustin and Cody Duffie and Ashley Miller. He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
The Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home of Macomb was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program or to the First Christian Church or to the Macomb Fire Department Rescue Squad.

Peter Sweeney, 46, had relatives in New Milford
Peter E. Sweeney, 46, of Seminole, Fla., formerly of Bethel, died July 30 at Largo Medical Center in Largo, Fla.
Mr. Sweeney was born April 24, 1957, in Danbury, son of James and Mary (Fagan) Sweeney of Largo.
He was a graduate of Bethel High School, Class of 1975. He was employed by the town of Bethel as the superintendent of the water department. He moved to Florida in December and was employed by the town of Pinellas Park in the highway department.
He was a past member of the Bethel Lions Club and served on the Bethel Planning and Zoning Commission.
Besides his parents, Mr. Sweeney is survived by a son, James of Bethel; a daughter, Rhonda of New Milford; two brothers, Thomas and his wife Ruth of New Milford, and Michael of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Karen Marasco and her husband John of Danbury, and Colleen of Largo; a granddaughter, Denise; several nieces and nephews; and his significant other, Christine Capellaro of Seminole.
The Green Funeral Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Bernardi, 87, longtime New Milford resident
Mary Bernardi, 87, of 18 Candlewood Lake Road North, New Milford, died Aug. 4 at New Milford Hospital.
Mrs. Bernardi was born April 19, 1916, in Italy, daughter of the late Achille and Marianna (Rotonneli) Maselli.
She came to the United States in 1929, and lived in the Bronx before moving to New Milford in 1972.
Mrs. Bernardi is survived by a son, John of New Milford; a daughter, Diane Turchiano of New Milford; and four grandchildren, John Bernardi and John, Frank and Michael Turchiano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today (Friday) at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, New Milford. Burial will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, N.Y.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Carroll Sr., 48, brother of local women
Thomas Stanley Carroll Sr., 48, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died July 20 at his home. He was the husband of Becky Carroll.
Mr. Carroll was born Sept. 14, 1954, in Waterbury, son of Gordon Sr. and Jeanette Carroll of Grove City, Fla.
Besides his wife and parents, Mr. Carroll is survived by a son, Thomas Jr. of Florida; two daughters, Heather and Ashley of Florida; five brothers, Gordon, Michael, Rick, Dennis and John of Florida; three sisters, Susan Johnston of Florida and Lori and Wendy of New Milford; and a granddaughter.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of one�s choice.

Sylvester Barney, 74, was auto mechanic, maintenance director
Sylvester R. Barney, 74, of Bridgewater died July 31 at Yale New Haven Hospital due to complications following heart surgery. He was the husband of Barbara Barney.
Mr. Barney was born Aug. 28, 1928, in New Milford.
�Barney� spent the last half of his professional career at the Shepaug Valley Regional School System, where he was director of maintenance. He spent the first half of his career as an auto mechanic, and operated Barney�s Service Station in Bridgewater from the mid 1950s to the mid 1960s.
His love of cars was also an avocation for him his whole life, including the restoration of a 1926 Ford Model T, which now resides in a collection in England.
Besides his wife, Mr. Barney is survived by two sons, Mike and Pat; two grandsons, Ryan and Steven; two granddaughters, Erin and Lianne; two brothers, Lou and Austin; and two sisters, Shirley MacDougal and Anita Baird.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the New Milford Hospital Cancer Center, 21 Elm St., New Milford, CT 06776.

Ruth Lieberman, 79, was resident of Washington
Ruth Lieberman, 79, of 2 Sunset Lane, Washington, died Aug. 1 at New Milford Hospital. She was the wife of Elmar Linnemeier and the widow of Norman Lieberman.
Mrs. Lieberman was born June 3, 1924, in New York.
She was a graduate of Columbia University and New York University.
She moved from Heritage Village in Southbury to Washington in 1999.

Stephen D. Bonjour, 81, father of New Milford man
Stephen Daniel Bonjour, 81, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Hilton Head Island, S.C., died Aug. 4 at the Stuart Center of the Cypress Club of Charlotte. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Dahl) Bonjour.
Mr. Bonjour was born Jan. 14, 1922, in New York City, to the late John Daniel Bonjour and Marquerite (London) Bonjour.
He graduated from Orange High School in Orange, N.J. After serving in the Army Air Corp. as a lieutenant during World War II, he graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor�s degree in accounting.
He retired as vice president of U.S. Banknote Corp. He was a member of Hilton Head Presbyterian Church and the Country Club of Hilton Head.
Besides his wife, Mr. Bonjour is survived by three sons, David and his wife Karin of New Milford, Douglas and his wife Melodaine of Newtown, and Richard and his wife Kathy of Weddington, N.C.; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Stephen of Weddington and Douglas and Courtney of Newtown. He was predeceased by his sister, Irene Johnson of Columbia, S.C.
Interment will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, N.J.
The Harry and Bryant Company is in charge of arrangements.

Peter A. Francis, 48, was a Bridgewater resident
Peter �Pete� A. Francis, 48, of Bridgewater, formerly of Southbury, died Aug. 4 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Kathleen (Comer) Francis.
Mr. Francis was born March 13, 1955, in Boston, the son of C. Robert and Sally M. Francis of Plymouth, N.H.
He graduated from Bethel High School and attended Norwalk State Technical College. He was the project manager for S.L. Kelley Electric in Brookfield. Prior to that he owned and operated Pete Francis Building & Electrical Contractors in Southbury.
Besides his wife, Mr. Francis is survived by a son, Josh of Bridgewater; a daughter, Jenny of Bridgewater; a brother, Jon and his wife Diane of Plymouth; a sister, Pam and her husband Pat Cleary of Bridgewater; and six nieces and nephews, Brooke, Becky and Brianna Cleary, and Jonathan, Brian and Megan of Bridgewater.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at noon at St. Joseph Church, Route 133, Brookfield.
Friends may call today (Friday) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford. Burial will be private.
