Elsie A. Tenney, 86, was a New Milford resident
Elsie Alyse Abbotts Tenney, 86, of New Milford, formerly of Trumbull and Monroe, died Dec. 6 at New Milford Hospital. She was the wife of 63 years to the late Frederick Tenney.
Mrs. Tenney was born in Westport Jan. 21, 1918, daughter of the late James and Delia Comeau Abbotts.
During World War II, she worked as an inspector for the Remington Arms Company and later for the Dictaphone Corporation. She enjoyed homemaking, gardening and nature.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas Tenney of Ansonia, Robert Tenney of Maine and Alan Tenney and his wife Lena of Easton; a daughter, Carol Monsanto; a brother, Paul Abbotts, and a sister-in-law, Joan, of South Carolina; her grandchildren, Calla and Barnaby Tenney, Amy Hauptman and her husband Bryan, Jason Tenney, and Mark, Scott and Darin Monsanto; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, funeral services will be held privately.
The Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford is in charge of the arrangements.

Jerri Quist, 90, NMHS teacher, longtime resident
Jerri (Cimmino) Quist, 90, of Church Street, New Preston, died Dec. 4 at New Milford Hospital. She was the widow of C. George Quist.
Mrs. Quist was born Dec. 2, 1914, in Torrington, daughter of the late Michael and Jennie (Girardi) Cimmino.
She was a graduate of Torrington High School, Class of 1932, and the former Danbury Normal School, Class of 1935, and did additional graduate work at several universities. She was chairman of the business department at New Milford High School, retiring in 1975 after 30 years of service.
As a resident of Washington most of her life, she was a member of the New Preston Women’s Club and Retired Teachers Associations.
Mrs. Quist is survived by two sons, Jayson of New Preston and Galen of Washington, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at the New Preston Congregational Church. A reception will follow at the New Preston Community House. There are no calling hours.

Helen Devin, 69, longtime resident and teacher
Helen Clarke Devin, 69, of Gregory Drive, New Milford, died Dec. 6 at her home. She was the wife of Russell L. Devin.
Mrs. Devin was born Jan. 20, 1935, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Frederick Lincoln and Helen Pearl (Sirois) Clarke.
She was a teacher in the New Milford school system for 25 years, retiring in 1992. Following her retirement, she volunteered at the Northville Elementary School library.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Devin is survived by two sons, John of Bangor Maine, and Steven of Quincy, Calif.; a daughter, Jeanne of Limerick, Pa.; and three brothers, Robert Clarke of Woodbury, Donald Clarke of East Hanover, N.J., and Richard Clarke of New Milford.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated today (Friday) at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in New Milford.

Marianne Jacouzzi, 83, mother of Roxbury woman
Marianne H. Thompson Jacouzzi, 83, of Bethel died Dec. 6 at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of Rocco Jacouzzi Jr.
Mrs. Jacouzzi was born Feb. 1, 1921, in Gotha, Germany, the daughter of the late Erik and Ernestine Emma (Blasberg) Hoph.
She emigrated to the United States following the beginning of World War II and moved to West Cornwall. She graduated from Danbury State Teachers College in 1942 and married Robert Thompson of Danbury in 1946. She was a resident of Bethel since the late 1940s and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Bethel.
Mrs. Jacouzzi began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Bethel school system, teaching there from 1951 through 1968 and earning her master’s degree in education from Western Connecticut State College in 1964. In 1968, she began teaching in North Salem, N.Y., and taught there until her retirement in 1984. She married Rocco Jacouzzi in 1982.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Jacouzzi is survived by a son, Peter Thompson of Plano, Texas; three daughters, Roxanne Greenley of Newtown, Catherine Gall of Bethel and Margaret Tinsley of Roxbury; five grandchildren, Russell Thompson, Michelle Lowe, Tiffany Lowe, Tyler Gall and Blain Tinsley; and two nieces.
The Bethel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James Mangler, 67, former New Milford resident
James “Jim” W. Mangler, 67, died Dec. 3 in Jacksonville, Fla. He was the husband of Patricia Mangler.
Mr. Mangler was born in Norwalk and lived in New Milford for 30 years before moving to Jacksonville three years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by North Florida Lincoln Mercury in Jacksonville.
Besides his wife, Mr. Mangler is survived by two sons, James and Scott; three daughters, Lisa Libertore, Tracey Friedman and Leean Taylor; 13 grandchildren; three nieces; and a sister, Eileen St. Amand.
The Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Florida was in charge of arrangements.

Laura Wineland, 50, was a New Milford resident
Laura Wineland, 50, of New Milford died Dec. 3 in New Milford Hospital. She was the wife of Thomas J. Wineland Sr.
Mrs. Wineland was born Aug. 30, 1954, in Danbury, a daughter of Eugene Campbell Sr. of Melfa, Va., and the late Anastasia (Rudek) Campbell.
She had been a resident of New Milford for seven years and loved working with animals.
Besides her husband and father, Mrs. Wineland is survived by a brother, Eugene Campbell Jr.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Robert Forlastro, 24, New Milford woman’s brother
Robert J. Forlastro, 24, of 18 Kingswood Road, Danbury, died unexpectedly Dec. 6 in Carmel, N.Y.
Mr. Forlastro was born Nov. 9, 1980, in Danbury, son of Robert G. and Barbara (Ballas) Forlastro.
He attended Danbury schools and was a 1993 graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School in Danbury. He had been working as a residential route collector for the F&H Sanitation Company of Danbury and was a member of St. Joseph Church.
Besides his parents, Mr. Forlastro is survived by a sister, Tina Samuelson of New Milford; a brother, Neil and his wife Gilmara of Danbury; and six nephews and nieces, Austin, Devin, Michael, Courtney, Janine and Karine.
