Susanne Henkel, 61, Realtor and local resident
Susanne Arndt Henkel, 61, of 373 Kent Road, New Milford, died Jan. 9 at her home. She was the wife of John M. Henkel.
Mrs. Henkel was born in Norwalk March 23, 1938, a daughter of the late Walter J. and Susan (Maddock) Arndt.
She was raised in Redding and Norwalk and graduated from Norwalk High School and Katherine Gibbs School of Business.
Later, while raising her children, she returned to the classroom and became a Realtor.
Mrs. Henkel was a CCD teacher at St. Francis Xavier Church, a Brownie and Cub Scout leader and a sports coach.
Besides her husband of 39 years, Mrs. Henkel is survived by a son, John E. Henkel and his wife Kathleen of New Milford; a daughter, Karen Henkel-Kennedy and her husband Kevin Kennedy of New Milford; two brothers, Walter Arndt of Easton and Edward Arndt of Jupiter, Fla.; two sisters Matilda LaTulipe of Shelton and Laurie Taylor of Rich Square, N.C.; five grandchildren, Shannon Kennedy, Bridget Kennedy, Rory Kennedy, Jessica Bouwman and Erika Henkel. She was predeceased by a sister, Sharon Shersty.

Helen K. McGill, 92, mother of New Milford man
Helen K. McGill died Jan. 5 in Texas. She was the wife of Ambrose William McGill.
Mrs. McGill was born Nov. 24, 1907, in New York City.
She moved to Westport and graduated from Staples High School in 1926 and from Teachers College and Merrill Business School.
She later worked for Alfred Broun Building Supply in Norwalk.
Mrs. McGill married Ambrose W. McGill of New Milford May 17, 1937, and assisted him in his hardware and paint business. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and a former parishioner of Saint Francis Xavier Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Gregory of New Milford; a daughter, Susan; a grandson, Brett; and a great-granddaughter, Jordyn.

Ruth Terry, 84, was long active in Bridgewater
Ruth Louise Terry, 84, of Bridgewater died Jan. 6 at New Milford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Edward B. Terry.
Mrs. Terry was born Sept. 30, 1915, in Gaylordsville, a daughter of the late Raymond W. and Esther V. (Ahlstrom) Camp.
She graduated from New Milford High School and received a bachelor's degree in education from Danbury State Teachers College in 1938. Mrs. Terry taught briefly after college until her marriage, when she devoted her time to being a wife and mother.
Mrs. Terry was a member of the Bridgewater Historical Society, the South Cemetery Association, the Bridgewater Grange, AARP and the Congregational Church of Bridgewater.
She was a former Girl Scout leader, den mother and an alumnus of Western Connecticut State University. She attended Second Home Adult Day Center in Brookfield. She was also known for her award-winning apple pies at the Bridgewater Fair.
She is survived by a son, Edward B. Terry IV and his wife, Maureen, of Bridgewater; a daughter, Jean Thomsen and her husband, John, of New Paltz, N.Y.; a brother, Ralph Camp of New London, N.H.; four grandchildren, Kathryn Harrington, John Thomsen IV, William Terry and Laurie Terry; and two great-grandchildren, Krista and Kevin Harrington.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at noon at the Congregational Church, Bridgewater. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in South Cemetery, Bridgewater, in the spring.

Joseph Wiser, 76, longtime NMHS teacher, coach and AD
Joseph F. Wiser, 76, of 234 Pumpkin Hill Road, New Milford, died Jan. 7 at New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara (Leonard) Wiser.
He was born in Fairfield March 26, 1923, a son of the late Joseph and Rose (Ritzo) Wiser. He moved to Newtown in 1938 and graduated as the president of the Class of 1941 at Newtown High School.
He attended Arnold College of Health and Physical Education. In 1943 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his basic training, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and saw action with the Marines on Saipan and Okinawa. After the war he served in occupied Japan for nine months.
He returned to Arnold College and graduated as president of his class of 1947. He also attended the University of Bridgeport and received his master's degree in secondary education from Fairfield University in 1959.
Mr. Wiser came to New Milford in 1948 as director of the town's recreation program, then known as Rec-Con, a position he held for 10 years. He became a physical education teacher and coach at New Milford High School in 1948 and later became director of athletics, retiring in 1980, at which time the football stadium at New Milford High School was named Wiser Field.
He was a member of the New Milford First Congregational Church, where he was a member of the choir and a former member of and chairman of the Board of Deacons.
Mr. Wiser was a charter member of the New Milford High School Booster Club. He was a longtime member and past president of New Milford Lions Club. He was named a Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest award in Lionism. In 1981, he was made a life member of the Lions Club.
Besides his wife, Mr. Wiser is survived by a son, Michael Wiser of Warren; two daughters, Theresa Howard of New Milford and Laurie Wiser of Waterbury; a brother, Kenneth Wiser of Middlebury; a sister, Virginia Garcia of Woodstock, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Austin and Lance Wiser and Emily Howard.
A memorial service will be held at the New Milford First Congregational Church, 36 Main St., tomorrow (Saturday) at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Virnette Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the Newtown Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Adrienne Case, 60, was Bridgewater volunteer
Adrienne A. Case, 60, of Bridgewater died Jan. 7 at Connecticut Hospice after a brief illness.
Mrs. Case was born in Bayonne, N.J., July 23, 1939, a daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Gabriel) Wutulski. She moved to Danbury in 1958.
After graduating from Danbury High School, she studied nursing at The Medical Center in New Jersey.
She settled in Bridgewater in 1964, raising a family and actively participating as a member and officer of the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. Prior to her death, she was employed as an office manager in Derby.
Mrs. Case is survived by three sons, Stephen Case of Lampertheim, Germany, Gregory Case of Burlington, and Jeffrey Case of Bridgewater; two granddaughters; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jacqueline and Emil J. Fusek of West Redding and Eleanor and Mario Gradoia of Milford; and three nephews, Mark, Eric and Michael Gradoia.

Joseph Andronaco, 86, father of New Milfordite
Joseph Patsy Andronaco, 86, a lifelong New Canaan resident, died Jan. 5 in Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Delio) Andronaco.
Mr. Andronaco was born in New Canaan March 23, 1913, the son of the late Antonio and Rose (Chappa) Andronaco.
He worked for the Roche Refuse Co. for over 55 years. He was a member of the New Canaan Old Timers, a sanctioned umpire and member of the Fairfield County Umpire Association.
Mr. Andronaco is survived by a daughter, Louise Andronaco of New Canaan; three sons, Anthony of New Milford, Henry of New Canaan and Joseph of Westport; three brothers, Vincent of New Canaan, Pally and Anthony of Norwalk; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Arnold and Annunziato.

Hazel L. Belard, 94, sister of New Preston man
Hazel Louise (Turrell) (Adams) Belard, 94, formerly of 297 South Leonard St., Waterbury, died Jan. 1 at Grove Manor Nursing Home in Waterbury. She was the widow of Franklin E. Adams.
Mrs. Belard was born Feb. 22, 1905, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Harry and Mabel (Atwood) Turrell.
She is survived by two sons, Franklin H. Adams of Waterbury and Edward Adams of Oregon; two daughters, Katherine McMann of Wethersfield and Betty Zablin of Florida; a brother, Pudgey Turrell of New Preston; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruth Cristello, 86, mother of New Milford woman
Ruth Cristello, 86, of 42 Starrs Plain Road, Danbury, died Jan. 4 at Bethel Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Patrick J. Cristello Sr.
Mrs. Cristello was born in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., Nov. 14, 1913, daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Howell) Matthews.
She is survived by four daughters, Patricia Hunter of Yonkers, N.Y., Ruthann Roka of Venice, Fla., Terese Cristello of Danbury and Karen Hupchick of New Milford; two sons, Patrick Cristello Jr. of Austin, Texas, and Dominic Cristello of Danbury; three sisters, Marion Lachman of Stamford, Theresa Erickson of Florida and Dorothy Spielman of White Plains, N.Y.; a brother, Richard Matthews of Florida; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Corinne Telesco, 40, sister of Washington woman
Corinne Marie (Lawlor) Telesco, 40, of 67 Belair Drive, New Milford, died Jan. 6 at New Milford Hospital.
Mrs. Telesco was born in Yonkers, N.Y., March 21, 1959, a daughter of James and Regina (Young) Lawlor of New Milford.
Besides her parents, she is survived by two brothers, James Lawlor Jr. of Ness City, Kan., and John Lawlor of Brookfield; and two sisters, Regina Breeckner of Washington and Maureen Sgaglio of Pond Ridge, N.Y.

Marie Zainc, 81, was a resident of Kent
Marie (Boulanger) Zainc, 81, of 16 Swifts Lane, Kent, died Jan. 7 at The Kent, a specialty care facility. She was the wife of Steven Zainc.
Mrs. Zainc was born in Waterbury, the daughter of the late George and Marie (Therrien) Boulanger.
She was educated in the Waterbury school system and was an employee of the Scovill Manufacturing Co.
Mr. and Mrs. Zainc moved to Kent 15 years ago. She was a member of St. Anne's Church in Waterbury prior to moving to Kent.
Besides her husband of 47 years, she is survived by two sons, Thomas and Edward Zainc of Waterbury; a daughter, Edna Wells of Northfield; a stepson, Steven Zainc of Waterbury; two brothers, Arthur Boulanger of Jacksonville, N.C., and Raymond Boulanger of Waterbury; and nine grandchildren.
