Jacqueline Underwood, 70, lifelong area resident
Jacqueline (Joray) Underwood, 70, of Mountain Road, Marble Dale, died Jan. 9 at her home. She was the wife of Homer Underwood.
Mrs. Underwood was born Jan. 28, 1929, in Sharon, daughter of the late Raymond and Augustine (Euvard) Joray.
She was a graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School.
A member of the New Preston Congregational Church, she had worked at the Sharon Inn and was past president of Underwood Services and JJ&L Inc.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Underwood is survived by two sons, Ray and Kerry Underwood of Marble Dale; three daughters, Julie Underwood Lebel of Torrington, Stacy Moore of Marble Dale and Kimberly Monteleone of New Preston; a brother, Andre Douchane of Reno, Nev.; an aunt, Ernestine Trimble of Bonita, Calif.; and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Jack Brian Underwood, and a sister, Roberta F. Borger.
Memorial services will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at the New Preston Congregational Church, 15 Church St. Burial will be in Underwood Meadows in the spring. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia Dumas, 78, mother of New Milfordite
Patricia A. Dumas, 78, of Birch Hill Road, Craryville, N.Y., died Jan. 7 at Fairview Hospital, Great Barrington, Mass. She was the wife of the late Robert Dumas.
Mrs. Dumas was born May 22, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Anne (McCalough) Dumas.
She had previously been employed as a child development teacher for Bennett College in Millbrook, N.Y. She was a communicant of St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church in Copake Falls.
A past member of the Pine Plains Garden Club, Mrs. Dumas was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society and taught summer Bible School at St. Bridget's.
She is survived by four sons, Robert P. Dumas of New Milford, Christopher Dumas of Modesto, Calif., Thomas W. Dumas of Elmsford, N.Y., and James P. Dumas of Craryville; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

James M. Pillen, 80, was a Sherman resident
James Marvin Pillen, 80, of 21 Anderson Road East, Sherman, died Jan. 4 at New Milford Hospital. He was the widower of Marjorie (Ellis) Pillen.
Mr. Pillen was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Rochester, N.Y., son of the late Henry and Emma (Schuth) Pillen. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater.
Mr. Pillen worked at the Eastman Kodak Co. for 40 years in Rochester, retiring as foreman. He moved to Sherman in 1993 and was a member of Wakan-Hubbard Lodge 154 F. & A.M., of Penfield, N.Y.
Mr. Pillen is survived by two daughters, Sally Dana of Jacksonville, Fla., and Judy Grundvig of Sherman; a brother, William Pillen of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister, Florence Schraffenberger of Honeoye Falls, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Hazel L. Belard, 94, sister of New Preston man
Hazel Louise (Turrell) (Adams) Belard, 94, formerly of 297 South Leonard St., Waterbury, died Jan. 1 at Grove Manor Nursing Home in Waterbury. She was the widow of Franklin E. Adams.
Mrs. Belard was born Feb. 22, 1905, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Harry and Mabel (Atwood) Turrell.
She is survived by two sons, Franklin H. Adams of Waterbury and Edward Adams of Oregon; two daughters, Katherine McMann of Wethersfield and Betty Zablin of Florida; a brother, Pudgey Turrell of New Preston; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Corinne Telesco, 40, sister of Washington woman
Corinne Marie (Lawlor) Telesco, 40, of 67 Belair Drive, New Milford, died Jan. 6 at New Milford Hospital.
Mrs. Telesco was born in Yonkers, N.Y., March 21, 1959, a daughter of James and Regina (Young) Lawlor of New Milford.
Besides her parents, she is survived by two brothers, James Lawlor Jr. of Ness City, Kan., and John Lawlor of Brookfield; and two sisters, Regina Breeckner of Washington and Maureen Sgaglio of Pond Ridge, N.Y.

Marie Zainc, 81, was a resident of Kent
Marie (Boulanger) Zainc, 81, of 16 Swifts Lane, Kent, died Jan. 7 at The Kent, a specialty care facility. She was the wife of Steven Zainc.
Mrs. Zainc was born in Waterbury, the daughter of the late George and Marie (Therrien) Boulanger.
She was educated in the Waterbury school system and was an employee of the Scovill Manufacturing Co.
Mr. and Mrs. Zainc moved to Kent 15 years ago. She was a member of St. Anne's Church in Waterbury prior to moving to Kent.
Besides her husband of 47 years, she is survived by two sons, Thomas and Edward Zainc of Waterbury; a daughter, Edna Wells of Northfield; a stepson, Steven Zainc of Waterbury; two brothers, Arthur Boulanger of Jacksonville, N.C., and Raymond Boulanger of Waterbury; and nine grandchildren.

Joseph Andronaco, 86, father of New Milfordite
Joseph Patsy Andronaco, 86, a lifelong New Canaan resident, died Jan. 5 in Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Delio) Andronaco.
Mr. Andronaco was born in New Canaan March 23, 1913, the son of the late Antonio and Rose (Chappa) Andronaco.
He worked for the Roche Refuse Co. for over 55 years. He was a member of the New Canaan Old Timers, a sanctioned umpire and member of the Fairfield County Umpire Association.
Mr. Andronaco is survived by a daughter, Louise Andronaco of New Canaan; three sons, Anthony of New Milford, Henry of New Canaan and Joseph of Westport; three brothers, Vincent of New Canaan, Pally and Anthony of Norwalk; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Arnold and Annunziato.

Robert Chase, 81, was a lifelong Kent resident
Robert M. Chase, 81, of Kent died Dec. 27 in Sharon Hospital. He was the husband of Elna (Kallstrom) Chase.
Mr. Chase was born Sept. 2, 1919, in New Haven, son of the late Edwin and Carrie (Stone) Chase. He was a lifelong Kent resident and attended Kent schools. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
He worked for several manufacturers, including Berkshire Transformer in Kent, American Brass in Waterbury, McArthur’s in Bantam and Preston Mountain Club in Kent.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Anders, Marshall and Lawrence, all of Kent; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Antonia Tulipani, 81, sister of New Milford woman
Antonia "Toni" B. Tulipani, 81, of 70 Ramapoo Road, Ridgefield, died Jan. 14 at her home. She was the wife of Aldo A. Tulipani.
Mrs. Tulipani was born in Ridgefield Oct. 11, 1918, a daughter of the late Charles and Adele (Marconi) Bedini. She attended Ridgefield schools and was a lifelong Ridgefield resident.
Mrs. Tulipani was an active member of St. Mary's Church in Ridgefield, where she was a member of St. Mary's Rosary Society and its Adoration Society.
She also was a member of the Italian-American Ladies Mutual Aid Society and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. Mrs. Tulipani was active in catering in the Ridgefield area for many years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Virginia Zaleta of Danbury, Irene M. Gray of Wilton and Patricia M. Becker of Hingham, Mass.; two sisters, Ada Brunetti of Danbury and Nancy Bedini of New Milford; nine grandchildren, Diane Hassan, Andrew Zaleta, Susan Zaleta and Donald Zaleta, all of Danbury, Karen Coghlan of Ridgefield, David Gray and Brian Gray of Wilton, Allison Becker and Robert Becker of Hingham, Mass; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Lena Costanzo.

Irma Paris-Voss, longtime New Milford resident
Irma Paris-Voss died in Zurich, Switzerland, Jan. 9.
She was a longtime resident of 50 Park Lane Road, New Milford. Ms. Paris-Voss was a dear friend of Vivian Harris and Jessie and Bette-Lou Emmons, all of New Milford.
She will be buried in Zurich.
Kathleen Mullen, 67, mother of Washington woman
Kathleen H. Mullen, 67, of Brookdale Road, Seymour, died Jan. 12 at her home. She was the wife of Howard L. Mullen.
Mrs. Mullen was born April 23, 1932, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Thomas and Eunice (Logue) Kinsella. She was a Prospect and Waterbury resident before moving to Seymour in 1962.
She worked as a home health care worker with Naugatuck Visiting Nurse Association before she retired. Mrs. Mullen was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd and was formerly active with the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed camping.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Charles Bradshaw of Casper, Wyo., and Robert Browne of Hartford; three daughters, Patricia Marshall of Seymour, Margaret Berger of Washington Depot and Deborah Mullen of Naugatuck; a brother, Thomas Kinsella of Watertown; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Elfriede Woods, 67, was a Warren resident
Elfriede Woods, 67, of Warren died Jan. 12 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was the widow of Robert M. Woods.
Mrs. Woods was born April 15, 1932, in Philippsthal, Germany, daughter of the late Johann O. and Selma G. (Petzold) Schilling.
She came to this country in 1952 and was a resident of Stamford for 18 years before moving to Warren in 1970.
Mrs. Woods is survived by a son, John R. Woods of Morganton, N.C.; a daughter, Susan Woods of Warren; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford. Burial will take place at New Warren Cemetery, Warren.
