Lillian Hitchcock, 95, grandmother of New Milfordite
Lillian (Sleath) Hitchcock, 95, a lifelong New Britain resident, died March 13 at the Brittany Farms Health Center, New Britain.
She was the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Buell) Sleath.
Mrs. Hitchcock was a lifelong member of the First Church of Christ in New Britain and was formerly employed by The Stanley Works until her retirement in 1967.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Marjorie and Robert Gaffney of New Britain and Ann Lowell of Southbury; 10 grandchildren, Patrick Gaffney of Alexandria, Va., Michael Gaffney of Charlottesville, Va., Peter Gaffney of Feeding Hills, Mass., Margaret Deguzis and Paul Gaffney of Newington, Mark Gaffney of New Britain, Terri Lowell of West Haven, Susan Kidd of New Milford, Beth Peck of Riceville, Tenn., and Lynn Bankuty of Holmes Beach, Fla.; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and three nieces, Carol Blauvelt of Forestville, Cynthia Eaton of Berlin, and Constance Csont of Southington. She was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Ginsburg.

Peter Poskas, 88, father of Washington man
Peter E. Poskas, 88, formerly of Hollow Road, Woodbury, died March 21 at The Lutheran Home in Southbury. He was the husband of Nell (Benaitis) Poskas.
Mr. Poskas was born Dec. 19, 1911, in Waterbury, son of the late Paul and Domicella (Milasunas) Poskas.
He attended local schools and worked as a millwright at American Brass.
Besides his wife, Mr. Poskas is survived by a son, Peter Poskas Jr. of Washington; and a grandson.

Daisy Hart, 80, was mother of Sherman man
Daisy C. Hart, 80, of Redding died March 19 at Norwalk Hospital. She was the wife of the late James W. Hart, who died in 1993.
Mrs. Hart was born in Stamford Dec. 4, 1919, a daughter of the late Edward G. and Louise Crane.
She had been a resident of Redding for 35 years and was retired from the Southern New England Telephone Company.
Mrs. Hart had been an active member of the Long Ridge United Methodist Church in West Redding and the Georgetown United Methodist Church.
She was a former trustee and choir member and taught Sunday School. She was also active with the seniors at Heritage House in Redding and Ogden House in Wilton.
Mrs. Hart is survived by a daughter, Marion Mecozzi of Redding; a son, James W. Hart of Bethel and Sherman; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held today (Friday) at 5:30 p.m. in the Georgetown United Methodist Church, 33 Church St., Georgetown. Interment will be private.
There are no calling hours.

George Hill Jr., 66, leaves many area relatives
George E. Hill Jr., 66, of 381 Salisbury Road, North Canaan, died March 16 at Sharon Hospital. He was the husband of Caroline M. (Box) Hill.
Mr. Hill was born Sept. 19, 1933, in New Milford, son of the late George E. and Dorothy (Frink) Hill Sr.
He was a farmer and had worked on farms in New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Mr. Hill was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam and Korean wars, serving in the military police. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Bethlehem and the Bethlehem Fair Association.
Mr. Hill played basketball in high school and enjoyed fishing.
Besides his wife, Mr. Hill is survived by two daughters, Vicki Day of East Canaan and Valerie Hill of Bristol; four sons, George E. Hill III of East Canaan, Douglas C. Hill of Torrington, Kevin M. Hill of Craryville, N.Y., and David B. Hill of North Canaan; seven brothers, Andrew and Roger Hill of New York, Ernest, Richard, Edward, Robert and James Hill, all of New Milford; four sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Oklahoma, Shirley Yeomans of New Milford, June Box of Bethlehem and Sheila Carlson of Bridgewater; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A son, Stephen Hill, is deceased.

Michelina Cordova, 73, leaves local relatives
Michelina "Mickey" Cordova, 73, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., died March 18 at her home. She was the wife of Jerry Cordova.
Mrs. Cordova was born March 23, 1926, in the Bronx, N.Y., a daughter of the late Angelo and Ermalinda Nobile. She had lived on Flora Street in New Fairfield for more than 37 years before returning to New York state.
Before her retirement, she had been employed for more than 20 years at the Eagle Pencil division of the Berol Corporation in Danbury.
Mrs. Cordova was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church in New Fairfield.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Jerry Cordova Jr. of Poughkeepsie; a daughter, Linda Miano of New Milford; a brother, George Nobile of Sebring, Fla.; a sister, Fannie Morelli of Gaylordsville; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Carl T. Irwin, 64, was longtime area resident
Carl Trammell Irwin, also known as Guy Carlton Trammell III, 64, of 7 Upper Kent Hollow Road, Kent, formerly of Old Stone Road, Gaylordsville, has died unexpectedly at his home.
Mr. Irwin was born Oct. 5, 1935, in Norfolk, Va. He was a graduate of Roscoe Central High School.
He lived in Morton Hill, Roscoe, N.Y., for several years.
Mr. Irwin served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Cassin Young as a Seaman First Class Quarter Master Signalman.
He had been a resident of the New Milford/Kent area since 1959. He was employed by Kimberly-Clark in New Milford for 35 years before retiring in 1994.
Mr. Irwin was an avid outdoorsman and an active member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).
He is survived by four daughters, Katharine Grant of Sherman, Dawn Warner of Northville, Ramona Weeks of Kent and Marsha Collins of Bridgeport; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Angelina Borgognone, 71, mother of New Milfordite
Angelina "Ann" M. Borgognone, 71, of Bethel died March 15 at her home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Rosario Borgognone.
Mrs. Borgognone was born April 1, 1928, in Stamford, a daughter of the late Michael and Lucielle (Raino) Sagnelli.
She was a Stamford resident for about 20 years. After leaving Stamford, she moved to Bridgeport and finally Bethel. A member of the Senior Center Loss & Laughter Group, Mrs. Borgognone was also a volunteer for the AIDS Project of Greater Danbury.
She is survived by a son, Roger T. Borgognone of Bridgeport; a daughter, Robin Borgognone of New Milford; a sister, Faye Dellaventura of Bethel; and two grandchildren, Roger and Anthony Borgognone of Bridgeport. She was predeceased by two brothers, Alphonse and Frank Sagnelli.

Louis Pagan, 72, was a New Milford resident
Louis Pagan, 72, of 331 Willow Springs, New Milford, died March 14 at New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Nellie (DeLeon) Pagan.
Mr. Pagan was born in Puerto Rico Feb. 13, 1928, son of the late Steban and Dominga (Gomez) Pagan.
He moved to New York City as a child and grew up there. He lived in Bethel for many years, prior to moving to Ocala, Fla., in 1985.
Mr. and Mrs. Pagan returned to Connecticut from Ocala a few months ago.
Mr. Pagan was a retired employee of the Dupont-Sorvall Company in Newtown. He retired in 1985 after having worked there for more than 15 years.
While living in Ocala, he was active in Our Lady of the Springs Church, and as a Bethel resident he had been a coach in the Pop Warner football program.
Besides his wife, Mr. Pagan is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Josephine and John Ferry of Danbury; a son and daughter-in-law, Louis Pagan Jr. and Linda Pagan of New Milford; two sisters, Lydia Taggart of Danbury and Elsie DeHoyes of Ocala; two granddaughters, Andrea Ferry and Erica Ferry of Danbury; and several nieces and nephews.

Horace D. Gillette, 73, was born in Roxbury
Horace D. Gillette, 73, of Hillside Avenue, Waterbury, died March 15 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Maie L. (Squires) Gillette.
Mr. Gillette was born May 3, 1926, in Roxbury, son of the late D. Benjamin and Sarah Bertha (Tuttle) Gillette.
He was a graduate of Washington High School. During World War II, he served in the United States Army as a clerk typist in the European theater under both General Omar Bradley and General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
After the war he attended Henry Abbott Technical School in Danbury, specializing in carpentry. For 33 years he was employed by the Southbury Training School as the laundry manager.
Mr. Gillette was a member and past state deputy of the Connecticut State Grange and was a 7th degree Mason in St. Peter's Lodge No. 21 in New Milford.
He is survived by four sons; Gary W. Gillette of Enfield, Gregory A. Gillette of Washington, Guy H. Gillette of Danbury and Todd A. Gillette of Roxbury; two daughters, Cheryl A. Bennett of New Preston and Tracey L. Bertulis of Northfield; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a special friend, Galo Marriot.
