Louis Chalmers, 61, former New Milford resident
Louis A. Chalmers, 61, of Waterbury died May 24 at Waterbury Extended Care.
Mr. Chalmers was born May 7, 1939, in Penn Yan, N.Y., son of the late Richard and Santina (Peris) Chalmers.
He was a 15-year resident of New Milford before moving to Waterbury in 1987.
Mr. Chalmers worked for Northeast Utilities for 36 years as an electrical meter mechanic. He was a member of Wooster Mountain Rifle Club, New Milford, and Chase Range, Waterbury. He was also a member and former instructor for the NRA.
Mr. Chalmers is survived by a son, Branden Michael Chalmers, and a daughter, Cassandrea Santina Chalmers.
The Colonial Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.

Alice M. Bock, 90, was mother of Kent resident
Alice Mary (Bannett) Bock, 90, of 78 Marbern Drive, Suffield, died May 29 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford after a brief illness.
Mrs. Bock was born Aug. 31, 1909, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Charles and Ramona (Fernandes) Bannett.
She was a Waterbury resident before moving to Suffield in 1995. She was a credit and business manager at Waterbury Hospital for many years, retiring in 1974.
Mrs. Bock is survived by two sons, Robert E. Bock of Belfast, Maine, and Richard W. Bock of Kent; a daughter, Gail F. O'Connor of Suffield; and five grandchildren.
The Mulville Funeral Home of Waterbury was in charge of arrangements.

Glenn Carter Jr., 84, considered Kent his home
Glenn Owen Carter Jr., 84, of Bog Hollow Road, Wassaic, N.Y., died May 23 at Sharon Hospital. He was the widower of Nancy (Wandel) Carter.
Mr. Carter was born March 29, 1916, in New Rochelle, N.Y., son of the late Glenn and Suzanne (Sweeney) Carter Sr.
He began spending summers in Kent in 1923 as a boy.
After serving in the Royal Canadian Army before the United States involvement in World War II, he and his wife became residents of the Kent area. Although he lived on the New York side of the state line, he always considered Kent to be his home.
He was a graduate of New Rochelle High School and attended Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. He worked locally in the Kent area before moving to Reisterstown, Md., where he was assistant librarian at Hannah More Academy. He retired in 1972 and returned to his Wassaic home.
Mr. Carter is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Ayres of Williamsburg, Va., and a granddaughter.
The Kenny Funeral Home of Sharon was in charge of arrangements.

Stephen Osuch, 74, was a native of New Milford
Stephen B. Osuch II, 74, of 103 Mine Hill Road New Milford, died July 6 at his home.
Mr. Osuch was born Sept. 28, 1926, in New Milford, son of the late Stephen and Sophie (Oreenski) Osuch. He lived in Honolulu from 1971 to 1991, when he returned to New Milford.
He was an Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Osuch is survived by two brothers, Charles Osuch and Vincent Osuch, both of New Milford; and three sisters, Catherine Volinski, Stella Tencza and Mary Gawel, all of New Milford.
A memorial Mass will be held today (Friday) at 1:30 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Route 109. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Florence, Mass.
The Lillis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nikolai Oun, 85, father of New Milford resident

Nikolai Oun, 85, of 5 Pondfield Road, New Fairfield, died July 5.
Mr. Oun was born Nov. 4, 1914, in Estonia.
He moved to New York in 1930, where he had made his home, until moving to New Fairfield in 1957. Following service with the United States Navy in World War II, he developed a career as a carpenter and house framer in lower Fairfield County.
He is survived by a son, Harry K. Oun of New Fairfield; two daughters, Phyllis Scarpone of New Milford and Janet Oun of Burlington, Vt.; a sister, Nadia Lemet of Bethel; five grandchildren, Dana M. Gratto of Fort Myers, Fla., Michael K. Oun of Gainsville, Fla., Nikolai J. Oun of Naugatuck, Reeta-Kristine Oun and Alexsandra Oun, both of Burlington; two great-grandchildren, Justine and Jared Gratto; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Ella A. Oun; a son, Robert Oun; and a grandson, Jarrod Oun.
The New Fairfield Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pauline LaBonte, 64, mother of Washington woman
Pauline (Perreault) LaBonte, 64, of Yale Street, Waterbury, died July 4 at her home. She was the wife of J. Paul LaBonte.
Mrs. LaBonte was born May 7, 1936, in Eagle Lake, Maine, daughter of the late Joseph and Eveline (Pelletier) Perreault.
She was a member of St. Michael. s Church and a member of the church. s Ladies Altar Guild.
Besides her husband, Mrs. LaBonte is survived by two sons, Dennis LaBonte of New Britain and Joseph LaBonte of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Lynn Janco and Lisa Holm, both of New Hartford, Paula Caron of Waterbury and Laurine Desrosiers of Washington; three brothers, Leo Perreault of Eagle Lake, Edmund Perreault of Beaumont, Calif., and her twin, Paul Perreault of Penuelas, Fla.; seven sisters, Jeanne Boutote, Juliette LaChance, Jacqueline Lange and Madeline Nolan, all of Waterbury, Juanita Gagnon of Union City, Doris Pelletier of New Britain and Elaine Marin of Fort Kent, Maine; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The Woodtick Memorial Funeral Home of Wolcott was in charge of arrangements.

Michael West, 78, brother-in-law of Roxbury man
Michael G. West, 78, of Elizabeth Circle, Walnut Tree Village, Sandy Hook, formerly of Carmel, N.Y., died July 6 at his home. He was the husband of Rose (Barber) West.
Mr. West was born in Swinnemunde, Germany, Oct. 25, 1921. He was educated in various European universities.
He was employed by Standard Register Co. as a technical engineer on mainframe computers. He retired in 1983.
Mr. West loved music, literature, the study of human nature, philosophy and the Bible. He was active in the Big Brother program, and was instrumental in starting a one-on-one program.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother, Fritz Wodetzki and his wife Anneliese of Germany; a brother-in-law, Donald Barker and his wife Maria of Roxbury; eight nieces; a nephew; three great nieces; two great nephews; a great-great nephew; and a great-great niece.
The Honan Funeral Home of Newtown was in charge of arrangements.

Herbert Hagner, 74, father of local residents
Herbert Emil Hagner, 74, of 40 Bridle Road, New Milford, died July 9 at his home. He was the widower of Lydia (Pflaum) Hagner.
Mr. Hagner was born June 2, 1926, in Essen, Germany, son of the late Henry and Wilhemina (Koch) Hagner.
He came to this country in 1929 and was a longtime resident of New York City. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific theater.
He was a member of the Patrolmen. s Benevolent Association and was also a member and former president of Steuben Association. He moved to New Milford in 1970.
Mr. Hagner is survived by a son, John Hagner of Kent; two daughters, Barbara Herrington of Palo Alto, Calif., and Greta Kennedy of Roxbury; and three grandchildren.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Shishilla, 58, worked at High Watch Farm
Robert J. Shishilla, 58, died July 7 in Kent. He was the husband of Roberta (Hager) Shishilla.
Mr. Shishilla was born in Jersey City, N.J.
He was a Denville, N.J., resident and was educated as an engineer at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
He held a number of technical and managerial positions at Jersey Central Power and Light. At his retirement in 1992, he was head of the JCP&L Planning Department.
Mr. Shishilla was a respected and active member of the community, known for his work with the Sacred Heart Parish in Dover and Saint Peter. s Village in Denville. He was also known for his work at High Watch Farm in Kent.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Shishilla; and a brother, Frank Shishilla.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no service to mark his death. Instead, friends and family are asked to celebrate life with a random act of kindness.

Joseph Kasper, 81, father of New Milford woman
Joseph T. Kasper, 81, of 1705 West St., Southington, died July 10 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Helen (Klepacki) Kasper.
Mr. Kasper was born Feb. 5, 1919, in Waterbury, son of the late Joseph and Frances (Waranowicz) Kasper.
He was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and was a resident of Beacon Falls for 30 years before moving to Southington.
Mr. Kasper was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a physical instructor. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church.
He worked at Uniroyal, retiring after 42 years, and was in charge of mechanical development of the Naugatuck footwear plant.
He and his wife also traveled around the world, setting up footwear plants in Indonesia and South America.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Eileen Fumal of New Milford, Kathleen Toubman of Readfield, Maine, and Janice Kasper of Swanville, Maine; two sisters, Mary Curtin of Alabama and Helen Tucker of Texas; and four grandchildren.

Elizabeth Whitlock, 86, had lived in New Milford
Elizabeth P. Whitlock, 86, formerly of Summit Drive, New Milford, died July 10 at Rose Haven in Litchfield.
She was born in Burlington, Vt., Jan. 10, 1914, daughter of the late Earl H. and Grace Frazier Payne.
Mrs. Whitlock came to Danbury as a young woman and was a graduate of Danbury High School Class of 1932. She later attended the New York School of Display in New York City, graduating in 1938. Her last 20 years were spent in New Milford.
She had been employed by the former McCrory. s Stores for 40 years, as a window trimmer for 20 years and as a cash auditor for 20 additional years.
Mrs. Whitlock was a member of the First Congregational Church in New Milford, the Roger Sherman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Stellar Chapter No. 55 Order of the Eastern Star of Danbury, the Metichewan and Pomona Granges, American Association of Retired Persons and the New Milford Senior Citizen.
She is survived by a cousin, Ann Dukes Hungerford of Sebastian, Fla.
The Brookfield Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
