G. Christian Moller, 91, was comptroller, Realtor
G. Christian Moller, 91, of Washington died Nov. 6 in New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy Smith Moller.
Mr. Moller was born Feb. 12, 1907, in Malden, Mass., son of the late Louis W. and Sigrid Andresen Moller. He was president of his class at Bentley College, graduating in 1931. He worked as a comptroller of Goodall-Sanford Textiles and was self-employed as a Realtor at Mosser-Nadalny in Southbury for more than 10 years.
He was past president of Rotary in Sanford, Maine, treasurer of Foster -Grant in Leominister, Mass., a member of Tribury Rotary, past president Sayford Corp. of Litchfield, a Paul Harris Fellow and a 50-year Mason member, Blue Lodge.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, David C. Moller of Hanover, Md.; two daughters, Nancy E. Weare of Del Mar, Calif., and Carolyn B. Moller of Holiday, Fla.; a sister, Sigrid Akers of Florida; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere.

Leota H. Steffe, 78, was mother of Kent resident
Leota Hope Steffe, 78, formerly of Albion, Mich., died Nov. 2 at Noble Horizons in Salisbury. She was the widow of Paul Steffe.
Mrs. Steffe was born June 8, 1920, in Mark Township, Defiance County, Ohio, daughter of the late Melvin O. and Mabel Belle Hanville. She moved to Albion in 1926 and graduated from Albion High School in 1937.
She was a member of Albion Historical Society, First Methodist Church, Duck Lane Country Club and Order of the Eastern Star. She made hand-dipped candles, which she demonstrated at Marshal Michigan Home Tour.
She leaves a son, David Steffe of Inkpen Berkshire, England; a daughter, Susanne Edgerly of Kent; a sister, Iris Chiappe of Oceanside, Calif.; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at Albion First Methodist Church. Private burial in Albion's Riverside Cemetery, Michigan. Calling hour is 10:30 a.m. until service at the church. Arrangements are by Kenny Funeral Home, 41 Main St., Sharon.
Contributions in Mrs. Steffe's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 8 Church St., Torrington, CT; or to Albion Historical Society.

Martha Talmadge, 72, mother of New Milfordites
Martha E. Talmadge, 72, of Bethel died Nov. 4 at Bethel Health Care Center. She was the wife of William V. Talmadge.
Mrs. Talmadge was born March 5, 1926, in Norwalk, daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Fielding Schofield. She was raised in Norwalk, graduated from Norwalk High School, and attended Smith Corss Beauty School in Bridgeport. She attended a local Methodist church in Norwalk and taught at the church's Sunday school. She was a Bethel resident for 30 years.
Mrs. Talmadge worked at J.C. Penny Co. of Haywood, Calif., during World War II, and later managed Hallmark Card stores in the Danbury area. She worked in the cafeteria of Pitney Bowes in Danbury until retiring.
Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, William G. Talmadge of Morris, and Jeffrey K. Talmadge and Mark C. Talmadge, both of New Milford; two sisters, Alice Smith and Louise Drew, both of Florida; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Talmadge.
Arrangements were handled by the Bethel Funeral Home. A private burial will be at the family's convenience.

John Westfall, 45, lived in New Milford after 14-year career in Army
John Gaylord Westfall, 45, of 76 Lanesville Road, New Milford, died Nov. 4 at his home.
Mr. Westfall was born April 15, 1953, in Hornell, N.Y., son of the Emmett Westfall and the late Gail Westfall. He attended schools in East Granby and was a 1971 graduate of East Granby High School. He moved on to a 14-year Army career with an honorable discharge in 1985, upon which he established his residence in New Milford.
Besides his father and stepmother, Quana Westfall, he is survived by a son, Christopher John Westfall of Hartford; three brothers, James Westfall of Coloma, Calif., Mathew Westfall of Kent, and Cary Westfall of New Milford; two sisters, Lisa Day of New Preston and Leslie Schlemmer of New Milford; his grandfather; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for friends and family at the First Congregational Church, Main Street, New Milford, Nov. 21 at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements were handled by the Tomlinson Homestead of Danbury.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Book of Remembrance, the First Congregational Church, 36 Main St., New Milford, CT 06776.

Donna Salem, 46, sister of New Milford resident
Donna Webster Salem, 46, of Sandy Hook died Nov. 7 at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, N.Y.
Ms. Salem was born Sept. 19, 1952, in Bridgeport, daughter of Raymond Webster of Stuart, Va., and the late F. Jean Prunier Webster.
Besides her father, she leaves a daughter, Michelle of Sandy Hook; a fianci, Michael Margait of Sandy Hook; two brothers, David Webster of Southbury and Bruce Webster of New Milford; three sisters, Lisa Smith of Stuart, Va., Jennifer Jakubaukas of Southbury and Rae Anne Hosey of Willards, Md.; and her maternal grandmother, Ruth Aitken of Newtown.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main St., Southbury. There are no calling hours.
Contributions may be made to the Sloan-Kettering Bone Marrow Transplant Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Madeline Garvey, 84, was New Milford native, nurse
Madeline Welsh Garvey, 84, of 200 Chestnut Grove, New Milford, widow of the Hubert J. Garvey, died Nov. 2 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, N.Y.
Mrs. Garvey was born in New Milford Sept. 20, 1914, the third daughter of William M. and Margaret McMahon Welsh. She attended the original Hill and Plain School and graduated from New Milford High School. She later graduated from Saint Raphael Hospital School of Nursing in New Haven.
Following a period at New York Foundling Hospital in New York, she returned to New Milford and was employed in maternity at New Milford Hospital, where her love of babies and children was a special feature in her life.
She was married to Hubert Garvey in 1942. While her husband served in World War II, she returned to New Milford and continued nursing at private duty care for terminally ill patients.
Mrs. Garvey's life touched many, but she found time to serve the community in many ways, among them as a volunteer with the American Red Cross. Her love of animals and gardening brought pleasure to her life.
She was predeceased by a son, David Garvey, and is survived by a daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday in St. Francis Xavier Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in St. Francis Cemetery in New Milford. Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Fuegeman, 89, mother of New Milfordite
Mary Fuegeman, 89, of Bethel died Nov. 9 at Glen Hill Convalescent Center, Danbury. She was the widow of William Fuegeman.
Mrs. Fuegeman was born in Medera, Pa., Sept. 21, 1909, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Zazverskey. She had been a resident of Stamford from 1951 until moving to Bethel in 1978.
Mrs. Fuegeman is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Jean Fuegeman of New Milford; her daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Louis Bova of Stamford; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was one of 15 children and is survived by three brothers, Leonard, George and Danny, and five sisters, Irene, Julia, Eva, Helen, and Katie.
Bethel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorials may be made to the Bethel VNA, 1 School St., Bethel, CT 06801.

Dorothy L. Dunlap, 64, was a registered nurse
Dorothy L. Dunlap, 64, died at Bethel Health Care Center Nov. 5. She was the wife of the late Jesse LaRoy Dunlap and lived at 13 Twin Oaks, New Milford, for the past year. She formerly made her home on Grandview Drive in Danbury.
Mrs. Dunlap was born in Bridgeport Feb. 17, 1934, daughter of the late Louis Ivancso and Elizabeth Martin Ivancso of Danbury.
She attended Bridgeport schools and graduated as a registered nurse from St. Vincent School of Nursing. She worked at St. Vincent and Danbury Hospitals and was administrator of Heritage House at St. Joseph Church for nine years. She retired from the state of Connecticut in medical claims. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and enjoyed gardening and crochet work.
Besides her mother, she is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law; Gary J. and Nina Dunlap, Gregory S. and Marilynn Dunlap, all of New Milford, and Brian R. and Mary Dunlap of Bethlehem and Matthew L. Dunlap of New Milford; five grandchildren; and her fianci, John Kroha. She was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Heinemeyer.
Arrangements were handled by the Cornell Memorial Home in Danbury.

James E. Donlon, 66, father of Sherman resident
James Edward Donlon, 66, of 6170 Woodrow Blvd. N.E., St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Southbury, died Dec. 5 at home.
Mr. Donlon was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Bridgeport, son of the late Michael and Anna (Garrett) Donlon. He attended Southbury Consolidated School and Woodbury High School. He was an Air Force veteran, serving in Korea. He was a retired power plant engineer.
He leaves two sons, James E. Donlon Jr. of Boca Raton, Fla., and Gary Donlon of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Dorlene Donlon Kulis of Danbury and Nancy Donlon Grenier of Sherman; two sisters, Evelyn Donlon Pennington of Corolla, N.C., and Nancy Donlon Barna of Southbury and Englewood, Fla.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Anne Marie Taylor, 92, was Wall Street secretary
Anne Marie Taylor, 92, of 19 Poplar St., New Milford died Dec. 1 at New Milford Nursing Home.
She was born in New Hope, Pa., May 27, 1906, a daughter of H. Ross and Catherine Reid Taylor. She lived most of her life in Brooklyn, N.Y., until moving to Florida in 1980 and New Milford in 1992. She had worked for over 20 years as a legal secretary on Wall Street in New York.
She is survived by a daughter, Rosemarie Gregory of Danbury, and three grandsons, David Rabens of Waterbury, Karl Rabens and his wife Debi of Southbury and Robert Rabens of Danbury.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Hull Funeral Home of Danbury is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Christine Ballatore, 65, owned Bee's Nest Antiques
Christine Zegadlowicz Ballatore, 65, of 312 Kent Road, New Milford, wife of John Ballatore, died Dec. 7 at her home.
Mrs. Ballatore was born in Warsaw, Poland, Jan. 31, 1933, a daughter of the late Edward and Stanislawa Kosela Zegadlowicz. She came to the United States in 1947 and had lived in Brewster, N.Y., before moving to New Milford in 1973.
She owned and operated Bee's Nest Antiques on Kent Road and was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Anna Darien of Raymond, Maine, and Barbara Ballatore of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; and three grandsons.
The Lillis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
