Arnold Hilton Jr., 70, was father of Roxbury man
Arnold Hilton Jr., 70, of Bethel died Feb. 1 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Gail (Boyce) Hilton.
Mr. Hilton was born Feb. 15, 1931, in Providence, R.I., the son of the late Arnold and Lily (Hingeley) Hilton Sr.
He was a resident of Bethel for 60 years and attended Bethel schools. He graduated from Jesse Lee Academy in Redding.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, with active duty in Korea.
He graduated from the former Danbury Teachers College in 1957. He was a teacher in the Bethel and Wilton school systems for 25 years, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Hilton was a member of the American Legion and a member and past commander of the VFW and a member of the Korean War veterans.
He was a member of the Western Connecticut University Alumni Association, the Sampson Air Force Base Association, former member of the Bethel Town Parks and Recreation and he had served on the Bethel Planing and Zoning Board of Appeals.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Richard and his wife Lynda of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Charley and his wife Lorri of Roxbury.

Ada Aparicio, 89, mother of New Milford woman
Ada Aparicio, 89, died Jan. 31 at New Milford Hospital. She was the widow of Hijinio Aparicio.
Mrs. Aparicio was born in Cuba. She resided in Westport and Fairfield before moving to New Milford four years ago.
She was an active member of Iglesia Cristiana El Buen Pastore of Bridgeport for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Lilia Mejia of New Milford and Arely Ojito of Havana, Cuba; a son, Armando Ojito of Miami, Fla.; three brothers; five sisters; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Aleida Jackson.

Angela A. Pezzano, 90, mother of local woman
Angela A. Pezzano, 90, of Brooks Quarry, Brookfield, died Feb. 2 at The Kent. She was the widow of Vincent Pezzano.
Mrs. Pezzano was born Oct. 24, 1911, in Italy, a daughter of the late Nicola and Lucia (Roselli) Giuliano.
She came to the United States at the age of 1 and lived in New York. She settled in this community 30 years ago. She was an active member of St. Joseph Parish and served as Eucharist minister and as a member of the Confraternity of The Rosary.
Mrs. Pezzano is survived by a daughter, Mary Anne Carmellina and her husband Louis of New Preston; four grandchildren, Judy and Christopher Rebuse of New Fairfield and George and Lisa Casario of Norco, Calif.; a sister, Agnes Demone of New Jersey; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Modestino Vecchiarino, 74, was a Kent resident
Modestino “Charlie” Vecchiarino, 74, of North Main Street, Kent, formerly of Danbury died Feb. 3 at the Kent Care Facility.
Mr. Vecchiarino was born April 5, 1927, in Danbury, a son of the late Joseph and Anna (DeTuccio) Vecchiarino.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. He was employed for many years as a supervisor with the Columbia Broadcasting System, Danbury.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas of Danbury and David of New Milford; a daughter, Sandra Fletcher of Kent; a brother, Joseph of Danbury; three sisters, Mildred Esposito and Julie Macelletti of Danbury and Eleanor Connell of Bethel; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Albert D. Miller, 78, was active at Butter Brook Hill
Albert D. Miller, 78, of New Milford died Feb. 1 at New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Wanda (Cole) Miller.
Mr. Miller was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Massapequa, N.Y., son of the late John Ira and Harriet Remsen Field Miller.
He graduated from high school in 1941 and served in the 342nd Air Aquadron in Luson, New Guinea, Northern Solomons, Southern Philippines and Bismarck Archipelago.
He was awarded the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star, Asiatic Pacific Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Miller moved to New Milford after his discharge and operated a contracting business, Page and Miller Contracting. He was then employed by Eagle Pencil until his retirement in the 1970s.
He was an avid bowler and coin detector, a long standing member of Andrew Mygatt Post No. 1672 of the VFW in New Milford. He was president of the Residents’ Association at Butter Brook Hill Apartments for four years and was currently the association’s treasurer. He enjoyed helping his son, “The Real Can Man.”
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, John of Warren, Glenn of New Milford and Kevin of Bantam; a sister, Dorothy Gustafson of New Milford; four grandchildren, Wendy Hrostek and John, Mandy and Stephen Miller; and a great-grandchild, Alex Miller.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 7 Whittlesey Ave., New Milford

Richard E. Fetcho, 44, had lived in New Preston
Richard E. Fetcho, 44, of Williamsville, Vt., died Jan. 31 at his home.
Mr. Fetcho was born Aug. 30, 1957, the son of the late John P. and Catherine (Cherniske) Fetcho.
He spent his first 21 years on a farm in New Preston. He attended local schools and graduated from Shepaug Valley High School in 1975. He started a family and moved to Arlington, Vt., in 1981.
He held many positions as a chef in the Manchester, Vt., area as well as in sales and private ventures.
He moved to Townshend, Vt., in 1996 and co-operated the Depot Deli and Pizza in Chester, Vt., until 1998 when the severity of his illness prevented him from doing so.
Mr. Fetcho loved to garden, cook and feed his birds.
He is survived by his life partner, John Dery; a son, Tyler; two daughters, Erica of Dorset, Vt., and Melissa of Townshend; a brother, Zachary of Salem, N.H.; a paternal grandmother, Stella of New Milford; friends, James Martis of Williamsville, Louise Dery-Wells of Middleborough, Mass., Elizabeth Dery of Townshend, Madeline and Steven Dery and Edmond Dery Jr. of Hyannis, Mass.; and his dogs, Mimi and Bachi.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, Brattleboro, Vt.

Doreen Ann Pitts, 64, mother of New Preston man
Doreen Ann (Boothroyd) Pitts, 64, of Brookfield died Feb. 3 at her home. She was the wife of Allan C. Pitts Sr.
Mrs. Pitts was born July 2, 1937, in Danbury, a daughter of the late Fred and Dorothy (Adams) Boothroyd.
She was a graduate of the former Washington High School, Class of 1955. She moved to Brookfield following her marriage in June of 1963.
Until her illness, she worked at People’s Bank in Brookfield for 17 years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Allan Jr. of New Preston; a brother, Fred Boothroyd Jr. of Wolcott; a sister, Leslie Anderson of Washington; three grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.

Rose Marie Reed, 60, sister of New Milford woman
Rose Marie (Repko) Reed, 60, of Middlebury died Jan. 29 at her home. She was the wife of James Reed.
Mrs. Reed was born Jan. 1, 1942, in Danbury, a daughter of Barbara (Ivancso) Repko and the late Frank Repko.
She grew up in Danbury and attended Danbury schools. She had lived in Middlebury for the past 19 years, where she had been very active in the Junior Womens of Middlebury.
She worked as a beautician at the Continental Beauty Salon in Danbury for 40 years.
Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Reed is survived by three daughters, Sharleen Skelly of Panama City, Fla., Jennifer Suttile of Woodbury and Heather Reed of Bethel; two sons, Sean Skelly of Waterbury and Steven Skelly of Naugatuck; a brother, Louis Repko of Danbury; two sisters, Barbara Perelli of Largo, Fla., and Elizabeth Geier of New Milford; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Arlene Johnson, 78, lived, worked in Washington
Arlene M. (Valhos) Johnson, 78, of Orchard Lane, Washington, died Jan. 31 at New Milford Hospital. She was the widow of Sherwood Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 31, 1923, in New Milford, a daughter of the late Gus and Frances (Hirt) Valhos.
She was a clerk at the United States Post Office in Washington Depot for many years and a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Washington.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen of Westfield, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Henry Ganser, 53, was father of area residents
Henry Joseph Ganser, 53, of Bethel died Feb. 1 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Marsha (Monroe) Ganser.
Mr. Ganser was born June 29, 1948, in Bridgeport, a son of Hazel (Banzhof) Ganser and the late Henry Ganser Sr. He was a lifelong area resident. He was retired from the Vanderbilt Chemical Co.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard of New Milford; three daughters, Jennifer and Jessica of Bethel and Brenda Asendorf of Sherman: three sisters, Esther Monroe of New Fairfield, Hazel Stolzel of Bethel and Elaine Rondeau of Salisbury, N.H.; four grandchildren; and his dear friend, Fern Vadnais.

Margaret Nisivoccia, 68, mother of local woman
Margaret J. (DeVore) Nisivoccia, 68, died Jan. 30 at the Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, N.J. She was the widow of Eugene A. Nisivoccia.
Mrs. Nisivoccia was born in and grew up in Newark, N.J., and lived in Chester, N.J., before moving to Ledgewood, N.J., five years ago.
She was a secretary for the AT&T Company in Ledgewood.
She attended St. Therese Roman Catholic Church of Succasunna, N.J. She was a member of the Roxbury Township Ever-Young Senior Citizens Club, and a member of the Willow Walk Condominium Association.
Mrs. Nisivoccia is survived by two daughters, Lisa Haut of Gaylordsville and Maureen Nowakowski of Ledgewood; two sisters, Mary Nascak and Jean Taberski of Phoenix, Ariz.; and four grandchildren, Lindsay and Alexis Haut and Justin and Dylan Nowakowski.
