Joan K. Miller
Joan K. Miller, 55, wife of the late Robert T. Miller, of 49 James St., Danbury, formerly of Rodline Road, died at Danbury Hospital on Tuesday evening.
She was born in Danbury, February 16, 1944, daughter of the late Fred and Louise (Carey) Denton. She grew up in Carmel, N.Y. and was a graduate of Carmel High School. She moved back to Danbury shortly after high school and had been a Danbury resident since. Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Joseph's Church.
She is survived by two daughters: Barbara A. Mead and Ellen M. Miller and a sister, Jean Peterson, all of Danbury, a niece and two nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Danbury, on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m.
Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Robert V. Hallock Sr.
Robert V. Hallock Sr., 64, formerly of New Fairfield, died Tuesday, March 9 at his home at Louise Lane in DeLand, Fla.
Mr. Hallock was born in Norwalk, Conn., and lived in New Fairfield until moving to Florida 20 years ago.
He was a Korean War Air Force veteran and a retired framing contractor.
Survivors include a son, Robert V. Hallock Jr. of DeLand; a daughter, Nadine Hallock Kent of Orange City, Fla; a brother, Frank D. Hallock of Floral City, Fla; a sister, Jean M. Squires of New Milford; five grandchildren; and his former wife who provided for his care, Stella Bretts Hallock of DeLand.
The Langford Funeral Home in DeLand is in charge of arrangements.
Mortimer W. Robinson
Mortimer W. Robinson, age 75, husband of the late Catherine (Graham) Robinson of 83 Greenlawn Drive, Danbury, died March 10, 1999, in Danbury Hospital. He was born in Danbury June 15, 1923, son of the late Mortimer & Arita (Bates) Robinson. He spent all his life in Danbury, with the exception of 15 yrs. prior to 1958, when he lived in Newtown.
A carpenter by trade, he was last employed by Levine Automotive Parts as a driver. He was a member of Marriage Encounter. He is survived by four sons, William of Dublin, Texas, Daniel of Phoenix, Ariz., Peter of Danbury, and James of Bethel; five daughters, Mary Hallanan of Staten Island, N.Y., Kathlenn Elliott and Ann King both of Danbury, Carol Smith of Emmett, Idaho, and Joan Reynolds of Bethel; one sister Katherine Killian of California; and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, Conn. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday 7 to 9 p.m.
Mary E. Fiscella
Mary E. Fiscella, age 78, wife of Henry A. Fiscella of 27 The Boulevard, Newtown, Conn., died March 10, 1999, at her home.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., January 15, 1921, daughter of the late Alfred and Caroline (Salvio) Giordano. A resident of Garden City. Long Island, for 50 years, where she was a member of St. Joseph's Church. She moved to Newtown two years ago.
She is survived, besides her husband, by two sons, Robert A. Fiscella of Newtown and Henry A. Fiscella Jr. of Fairfield; one brother, Thomas J. Giordano of Garden City; four grandchildren, Tara, John, Andrew and Darcy Fiscella of Newtown.
Funeral Services will be held Friday 9:30 a.m. from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St.., Newtown and at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment St. Rose Cemetery. Stanisla LeRoi
Stanisla Jurinski LeRoi, age 88, died March 6, 1999, after a brief illness. Born Nov. 13, 1910, she is survived by two sons, Maurice LeRoi and Marcel LeRoi; two brothers, William Jurinski and Bernard Jurinski; one sister Josephine Austin, four grandchildren, Bonnie Wojtasiak, Sandra Bates, Jerry Marks, Diana LeRoi, one step grandchild Margo Schulze, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danbury, the Senior Center Bible Class, and Ives Manor Functions. She was a longtime member of Al-Anon and played a bass banjo in the White Way Ramblers All-Banjo Band.
A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.

Grace McDonnell Barks
Grace McDonnell Barks, age 74, of 23 Whisconier Village, Brookfield, beloved wife of Harold W. Barks and devoted mother of Carolyn Dufner of Newtown, died unexpectedly at her home Monday evening, March 8, 1999.
She was born in Pittston, Pa. on February 2, 1925, daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (McCanna) McDonnell. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Carbondale, Pa. and did graduate work at the Institute of Living in Hartford.
Mrs. Barks joined the Nurse's Corps of the U.S. Army in 1950 and served in Korea. She was discharged as captain in 1959. During her service in Korea she was the recipient of many decorations.
Following her discharge she worked in her profession at the V.A. Hospital and Air Force Base Hospital in Charleston, S.C.
A resident of Brookfield for four years, she had previously lived in Hawaii for 25 years. She was a member of the Korean Veterans Organization, Inc. Mrs. Barks was a member of the Brookfield Historical Society and the Brookfield Library Association.
Mrs. Barks is survived, besides her husband and daughter, by one brother, Rev. Cyril McDonnell of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and by one sister, Rosemary Blank of Alfreda, Ga. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Kevin and Emily Dufner of Newtown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Brookfield on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. There are no calling hours.

John T. Kelly
John T. Kelly, 55, of Danbury, Conn., died March 8, 1999 at Danbury Hospital.
He was born on January 23, 1944 in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of Theresa (Kiernan) Kelly of Clearwater, Fla. and the late Timothy Kelly.
Mr. Kelly was employed as a trouble-shooter for Con Edison at the Eastview Station in Westchester until his retirement.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons and two daughters, Sean of Atlanta, Ga., Denise of Bend, Ore., Jean of Bend, Ore. and Neil of Brookfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Patrick Farmer of Clearwater, Fla.; two nephews, Matthew and Christopher Farmer and a niece, Beth Anne Lusnia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Marguerite Church, Brookfield on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Brookfield.
Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Donna Gallo Miller
Donna (Gallo) Miller, 55, of Palm Coast, Fla., wife of John Miller, died March 7, 1999 at Bunnell Hospital, Flagler Beach, Fla.
She was born on May 29, 1943 in Danbury, daughter of F. Anthony Gallo of Danbury and the late Ruth G. (Reynolds) Gallo.
Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1961. She received her degree in elementary education from Western Connecticut State University in 1965. She was an elementary school teacher, having taught in Long Island, N.Y., Ritch Crest, Calif. and, most recently, in Palm Coast, Fla.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by three sons, Matthew of Denver, Colo., Johnathon and his wife Kim of Houston, Texas, and Thomas of Palm Coast, Fla.; her aunt, Adeline Dohan of Danbury; three nieces, Rachel, Alicia and Meghan Gallo; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Rose Miller of Danbury.
Mrs. Miller was predeceased by her mother in 1996 and her three brothers, Jay in 1987, Gregory in 1995 and Robert in 1999.

Pasquale Valente
Pasquale Valente, a longtime resident of Stamford, who moved to New Milford, Conn., three years ago, died Thursday, March 4, 1999 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was 78. Death was caused by cardio-pulmonary arrest.
Born in Lavello, Italy, province of Potenza, February 21, 1921, the son of the late Donato and Caterina Capotorta Valente. He was a self-employed custom tailor. He was the proprietor of Pat Valente Tailoring in Stamford for 13 years and most recently the co-owner of the 60 Minute Cleaners & Tailoring on Bedford Street, Stamford for 10 years prior to his retirement.
He was a poet in his own right, having poems published by the American Poet Society. Mr. Valente was a World War II veteran in the Italian Army and was a prisoner of war during that time.
He is survived by his wife, Giovina Ranauro Valente of New Milford; two daughters, Catherine McCarthy of New Milford and Lucia Grisko of Newtown; two sisters, Antonietta Valente and Sister Maria Donata both of Italy; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday March 11, 1999 at the Gerald R. Bosak Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. Then process to St. Benedict's RC Church, One St. Benedict Circle, Stamford for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Vincent J. Veich, pastor, officiating. Interment will take place in Italy.

Dr. Robert McCarthy
Robert Quillen McCarthy, D.D.S., 78, of 175 Lake Place South, Danbury, died Sunday, March 7, at Genesis Eldercare in Norwalk, following a long siege of Alzheimer's Disease. He was the husband of Anne (Malek) McCarthy, for 45 years.
Dr. McCarthy was born in Haverstraw, N.Y., son of Charles and Helen McCarthy. He was a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania Dental School; practiced in Montclair and North Caldwell, N.J. Due to a severe automobile accident in 1984, he was forced to retire and later relocated to Danbury. Dr. McCarthy was a member of the Essex County Dental Society, the Kiwanis Club and served on the North Caldwell Town Committee for many years. At Richter Park Golf Course, he was a member of the Mens Senior Association. He served in the Marines and Army Dental Corps.
Besides his wife, Dr. McCarthy is survived by a daughter, Susan, of Montclair, N.J.
A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Danbury, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 13.

Albert J. Stokes
Albert J. Stokes, 87, of 15 Farmer Road, Eliot, Maine, died March 6, 1999 at his home.
Born in Waterbury, Conn., on February 18, 1912, he was the son of Joseph and Victoria (Knowles) Stokes.
Mr. Stokes received his B.A. from Antioch College in Ohio and did his graduate work at Boston University. Mr. Stokes was a chemist and worked for many years at the Barden Corporation in Danbury, Conn.
He enjoyed coin collecting, ham radio operating and was deeply interested in classical music, enjoying a large collection of classical recordings. Mr. Stokes also attended the Congregational Church of Bethel and was a longtime secretary of the Eureka Lodge No. 83 AF & AM in Bethel.
Mr. Stokes was married in 1943 to his wife of over 40 years Peggy Knowles.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Mildred Obrey of Eliot and several nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Family flowers only. Margaret McMahon
Margaret (Zlotkosky) McMahon, 79, of 93 Butterbrook Hill, New Milford, Conn., died Monday at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Frank C. McMahon.
Mrs. McMahon was born in New Milford on July 11, 1919, a daughter of Frank and Helen (Ankoski) Zlotkosky.
Mrs. McMahon worked for the Southern New England Telephone Co. for ten years before retiring to raise her family. She got great pleasure from her family and gardening.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and its Confraternity of the Rosary, the New Milford AARP and the Metichewan Grange.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Oloskey and her husband Thomas of Middlebury, Conn. and Debra Cignoli and her husband Richard of Watertown, Conn.; two grandchildren, Amy Lyn Oloskey and Michael Cignoli.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in the spring.
