Ethel H. Roensch
Ethel H. Roensch, 85, a Redding Ridge resident since 1959, and a summer resident of Gardiners Bay Estates, East Marion, N.Y., passed away on March 2, 1999, at Glen Hill Convalescent Center. She was born May 4, 1913 in the Bronx, N.Y. to John H. and Mary Bergrath Hammer, having been raised in Bronxville, N.Y. She graduated from New Rochelle High School, Katharine Gibbs School, and Bucknell University with a degree in psychology and French, where she was also a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. At Bucknell she was very active in tennis, hockey, softball, swimming and other athletic events.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Carsten Roensch in 1993. A loving and beloved wife and mother, she is survived by her children, Bruce Carsten Roensch of Redding and Melissa Beth Roensch of Bronxville, N.Y.
Mrs. Roensch began her career at Columbia Teacher's College, followed by her position at the Payne Whitney Psychiatric Clinic at New York Hospital as an assistant to the chief psychiatrist/executive administrator. After rearing her children, she became a work-at-home editor for the director and also for local Redding authors such as Stuart Chase and Elmo Roper.
She was active in the annual smorgasbord, yearly church auction and Women's Guild at First Church of Christ Congregational, also serving on the Congregational Society board. She was a member of the Redding League of Women Voters and enjoyed sorority events, bridge games, traveling, cooking and reading.
At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours and a private Memorial Service at First Church will be held at a later date. The Bouton Funeral Home in Georgetown is in charge of arrangements. Kenneth Landsiedel
Kenneth Landsiedel, age 91, of Brookfield, formerly of Danbury, died Wednesday at his home. He is the husband of Dorothy Johnson Landsiedel.
He was born on August 24, 1907 in Linden, N.J., a son of Charles and Lilly Pickle Landsiedel. At age 3 he moved to a farm on Stadley Rough oad, Danbury and attended schools in Danbury. At 18 he became a member of a surveyor party and in the 1920s worked on the Candlewood Lake project. Mr. Landsiedel was drafted by the Army Air Corp and was stationed in the European theater during WW II. After his discharge, he returned to Danbury where he was employed as a design engineer in heavy construction. Mr. Landsiedel was also a truck driver. Upon his retirement in 1990, he worked part time for Danbury Top Soil. For the last 20 years of his life he was able to pursue his hobby of transporting antique cars from coast to coast.
Besides his wife of 47 years, Mr. Landsiedel is survived by sons John Landsiedel of Brookfield, Conn.; James Landsiedel of Danbury; Anne Marie of Brookfield; two grandchildren: LeeAnne and Kenneth D. Landsiedel of Brookfield; a brother, Charles Landsiedel of Rumson, N.J.; and a sister Lucille McKay of Lakehurst, N.J. He was predeceased by a sister, Lillie Landsiedel LaCross.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Hull Home, 60 Division St., Danbury on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hull Home.
Francis J. Lynch
Francis J. Lynch, 79, of Merrimack, N.H. died March 2, 1999, at a Bedford, N.H. nursing home, after a long illness. Born in Stonington, Conn., September 13, 1919, he was the son of Frank and Olivia (Cronin) Lynch, and had been a resident of Merrimack, N.H. for the past seven years.
He was educated in the Stonington school system, and had been employed by Pratt and Whitney Co., and his last employment before his retirement in 1983, was as personnel manager for Speery Rail Corporation.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and participated in the Normandy invasion. Mr. Lynch was a member of Kiwanis Club, of Willimantic, Conn., and a communicant of St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Bedford, N.H.
Family members include his wife of fifty six years, Mary Ann (Castanza) Lynch, of Merrimack, N.H., a son Christopher J. Lynch, M.D., of Bedford, N.H., two grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Bedford, N.H. at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, N.H.

Josephine Peck Burlinson
Josephine (Foster ) Peck Burlinson, 85, of New Fairfield, Conn., died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Danbury Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Charles D. Peck and William K. Burlinson.
Born in New Fairfield, July 26, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Ephriam and Roberta (Dayton) Foster . She was a graduate of New Fairfield schools and Danbury High School.
Mrs. Burlinson was a charter member of the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company A Ladies Auxiliary.
Her survivors include a son, Thomas J. Peck and his wife Barbara A. of New Fairfield; three daughters, Joan Cerno and her husband Louis of Port Charlotte, Fla., Mary Devine and her husband George of New Fairfield, and Patricia A. Manforte of New Fairfield; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Peck Henthorn of Stratford, Conn.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Burlinson was predeceased by a son, Charles F. Peck.
Funeral Services will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountainview Cemetery, New Fairfield.
Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Helen DeVita
Helen DeVita, age 71, widow of Thomas Joseph DeVita of 1 Hillview Drive, New Fairfield, died Tuesday at Danbury Hospital.
Mrs. DeVita was born in New York City on May 20, 1927. She had been a resident of New Fairfield for the past 32 years.
She had worked as a machinist for Amphenol for 25 years retiring in 1991. She was a member of St. Edward's Church in New Fairfield. Mrs. DeVita had been a member for over 30 years of the Ball Pond Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, Joseph DeVita and his wife Danielle of New Fairfield, three grandchildren, Blair, Heather, and TJ, a brother William Kushner of Long Island, and one niece and one nephew.
Friends will be received at the New Fairfield Funeral Home, Route 37 at Cottontail Rd. on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward's Church, New Fairfield on Friday, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Mountainview Cemetery, New Fairfield.

Frances T. Jacobs
Frances T. Jacobs of Danbury died Sunday February 28, 1999 at Harbor Side/Glen Hill of Danbury. She was 98.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Jacobs was the daughter of Max and Leah Tarakoff. After her marriage in 1923 she lived in Mount Vernon, N.Y., New York City, Ridgefield, Conn., and Miami, Fla. She moved to Danbury in 1988.
Mrs. Jacobs was active in Hadassah, a top-notch bridge player, women's golf champion at Old Oaks Country Club in Westchester County and an accomplished pianist.
She is survived by one sister, Sybil Kent of Los Angeles; a daughter, Joan Rolnick of Redding; a son, Herb W. Jacobs of Incline Village, Nev.; four granddaughters, Kyle Rolnick of Lorane, Ore., Jill Jacobs of Wayland, Mass., Beth Carone of Chicago and Cathy Saloff-Costa of Ithaca, N.Y.; four grandsons, Neil Rolnick of Chatham, N.Y., Cris Jacobs of Simsbury, Peter Rolnick of Kirksville, Mo., and Brian Rolnick of Kamakura, Japan; and 15 great-grandchildren.

John Bolek
Mr. John Bolek, 81, husband of Helen (Jablonwski) Bolek of 1 Malgari Court, Naugatuck died Wednesday afternoon March 3, 1999 at the Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Bolek was born Nov. 21, 1917 in Wanamie, Pa., son of the late Matthew and Caroline (Kiesel) Bolek. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army World War II having served in the European Theater. He was a retired employee of Uniroyal, Inc. where he had worked for over 28 years. He was a communicant of St. Francis Church.
Besides his wife of Naugatuck, he is survived by two sons, Raymond J. Bolek of South Kent, Conn., and Robert J. Bolek of Naugatuck, a sister Blanche Nelson of Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 5, 1999 11:15 a.m. at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck, with the Rev. William Burns, Pastor of St. Francis Church officiating. There are no calling hours, and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck are in charge of the arrangements. In memory of John Bolek and the wonderful care he received at the Waterbury Hospital, memorial gifts may be sent to the Development Office of Waterbury Hospital, 64 Robbins St., Waterbury, CT 06708. Carolyn E. Shaboo
Mrs. Carolyn Ethel (Petersen) Shaboo, 63, formerly of Bethel and Woodbury, died March 1 in Forsyth, Mo.
Mrs. Shaboo was born Dec. 9, 1935, in New Haven, daughter of Ethel (Paulson) Shumate of Vero Beach, Fla., formerly of Bethel, and the late Floyd Petersen. She was a 1953 graduate of Bethel High School and attended Danbury State Teachers College.
Besides her mother, she leaves her step-father, Jesse Shumate of Vero Beach, three daughters, Mrs. Kim Birge of Forsyth, Mo., formerly of Bethany, and Mrs. Cynthia Anastasio and Miss Connie Shaboo, both of Seymour and both also formerly of Bethany; one sister, Barbara Peschko of Bethel; four grandchildren, Blaec and Selena Birge of Missouri, and Robert Joseph and Christina Lee Anastasio of Seymour; one step-granddaughter, Elatia Birge of Florida.
Friends may call at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be private in Bethel Cemetery, Bethel.

Thalia Munson
Ms. Thalia Munson, age 80, of Roswell, Ga., formerly of Southbury, Conn. and West Palm Beach, Fla., died Monday, March 1, 1999. Ms. Munson was a telephone operator for over 20 years at the Southbury Training School. She was predeceased by her sister, Louise Neary, survived by sisters, Helen Wheeler, Lenox, Mass., and Eleanor Armstrong, Roswell, Ga. She is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews, 16 great-nieces and great-nephews and two great-great-nephews. A memorial service will be announced in the spring. Arrangements by Cremation Society of the South.
Paul Novak
Paul Novak died March 2, 1999 at Charlotte-Hungerford Hospital in Torrington at the age of 91. He was the husband of Concetta (Connie) Potenziani Novak and lived at 20 Frederick St., Torrington. Mr. Novak was born in Papen Czechoslovakia, Oct. 16, 1907, son of Karol and Anna Camakova Novak.
He received his education in Czechoslovakia and came to the United States in 1939 and to Danbury to work as a cook in Durkin's Diner. He was then employed as a hatter for Hoyt Messenger Hat Co. in Danbury until its closing. He then moved to Amphenol in Danbury and was a plater working there for 18 years. He was an Army veteran of WW II and served in the North Appenines and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaigns. He was an interpreter for the U.S. Army and spoke seven languages. Mr. and Mrs. Novak made their home at 20 Fourth St. in Danbury and moved to Melbourn, Fla. in 1978. They resettled to Torrington in 1995. He was a member of St. Gregory Church in Danbury.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael of Brookfield, Wisconsin, and Paul Novak of Czechoslovakia; four daughters: Anna of Czechoslovakia, Linda Inness of Torrington, Margaret Bouchard of Melbourn, Fla. and Joyce Loosemoore of Torrington; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gregory Church. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury on Friday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Roberta Culhane
Roberta Rysz Culhane passed away on Sunday, Feb. 28, at her home in Williamsburg, Va. after a noble battle with pancreatic cancer.
An avid gardener and quilter, Mrs. Culhane was a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a bachelor of science degree in horticulture. She was a Conservation Commissioner for the town of Redding, Conn., and a member and officer of the Redding Land Trust. She was also a co-founder and first President of the Swampfield Land Trust (Danbury, Conn.). Mrs. Culhane was a member and treasurer of the Nutmeg Quilters' Guild (Conn.), and treasurer of the Colonial Piecemakers Quilt Guild (Va.).
Mrs. Culhane was assistant branch manager at the Hayestown Office of Union Trust in Conn. and employed at Citizen and Farmers Bank of Williamsburg. She was also circulation assistant at The James City County Library.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Culhane of Williamsburg; daughters Megan Galbraith of Cambridge, N.Y., Jennifer Culhane of State College, Pa., and Kerri Culhane of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Pearl Crosier of Orangevale, Calif; brothers, Joseph Rysz, Jr. of Elmore, Vt. and Peter Rysz of Norwalk, Conn.; two grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Services took place in Williamsburg. Jeffrey A. Booth
Jeffrey A. ``Chucky'' Booth, 39, a self-employed mechanic, died Wednesday at the Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel, N.Y.
Mr. Booth was the husband of Teresa Gibney Booth. He lived in Brewster for many years before moving to Putnam Lake four years ago.
He was born in Mt. Kisco, N.Y., Sept. 22, 1959, a son of Bernard Samuel and Benita Eva Banks Booth. He was educated in Mahopac schools.
Before becoming a mechanic, Mr. Booth had worked on a horse farm in the Mt. Kisco area.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a former member of the ABATE Cycle Club of Carmel.
Besides his wife, Mr. Booth is survived by a son and a daughter, Stephen and Elizabeth, both of Putnam Lake; a brother, Bernard of Mt. Kisco; and three sisters, Dorothy Platania of South Cairo, N.Y., Renee Totten of Brewster, and Stacy Vanderberg of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Mary Burns Burnie
Mary Botts Burns Burnie, 76, a former longtime Danbury resident, died Wednesday at the home of her son in Danbury.
Mrs. Burnie, of Fort Peirce, Fla., was the wife of the late Dr. George A. Burnie. She was also predeceased by her first husband, William S. Burns who was the owner of the former Burns Drug Store.
She was born in Hackensack, N.J., July 4, 1921, a daughter of John M. and Jessie Street Botts.
Mrs. Burnie had been employed as a nurses aide at Danbury Hospital. She also worked at the circulation desk at the Danbury Library.
She moved to Florida after her marriage to Dr. Burnie.
Mrs. Burnie had been an active participant at Almost Family of Danbury.
Her survivors include a son, John W. Burns of Danbury; two daughters, Claire Burns of Danbury and Joan Levi of Fairfax, Va.; and four grandchildren.

Stephanie Sabados
Stephanie Louise Sabados, 34, a former Southbury resident who was active in DATAHR programs in Danbury, died March 6 at Danbury Hospital.
Miss Sabados lived at 14 Crosby St., Danbury.
She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on June 17, 1963.
Miss Sabados was a graduate of Pomperaug Regional High School in Southbury.
Her survivors include a sister, Stacie Latham of Orlando, Fla.; her grandmother, Beatrice Thompson of Sandy Hook; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
