Anna E. Torraca
Anna E. Torraca, 89, a lifelong Danbury resident, died Monday at the Pope John Paul II Center for Health Care.
Formerly of Hoyt Street in Danbury, Mrs. Torraca was the wife of the late Ralph Torraca.
She was born in Danbury, April 26, 1908, a daughter of John and Apolonia Pecknick Czajka.
Mrs. Torraca is survived by two sisters, Loretta Nachajski and Helen Siergiej, both of Danbury; and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Wednesday at 11 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Danbury. Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery.'
Michael Moros
Michael Moros, 73, a retired foreman with Kimberly-Clark in New Milford, died Sunday at St. Vincent's Hospital, Bridgeport.
Mr. Moros, of 2 Cozy Hollow, Danbury, was the husband of Effie Hennessey Moros. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jean L. Ephrem Moros.
A lifelong Danbury resident, he was born in Danbury, Oct. 8, 1924, a son of Michael and Anna Kopoc Moros. He was a 1941 graduate of Danbury High School.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served for four years and participated in battles in the Pacific including the invasion of Iwo Jima. He was awarded an Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with Two Stars and a Presidential Unit Citation with One Star.
Before his 1986 retirement, Mr. Moros was employed at Kimberly-Clark for 28 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury. He was also a member of the Polish-American Club.
Besides his wife, Mr. Moros is survived by a son, Rodney J. Mailloux of Naugatuck, Conn.; a daughter, Adrienne Sedor of Newtown; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Robert M. Moros and Daniel J. Moros, and a granddaughter, Deborah Huse.

Mario Granja
Mario Granja, 55, the former owner of a beauty salon in Bethel, died Sunday at New Milford Hospital.
Mr. Granja, of 4 Riverview Court, New Milford, was the husband of Carolyn Doutney Granja.
He was born in Danbury, Aug. 18, 1942, a son of Joaquin and Edwiges Silva Granja. He attended Danbury schools and was a graduate of the Amerigo Academy of Beauty.
For many years, Mr. Granja owned and operated Accent on Beauty in the Stony Hill section of Bethel.
Always supportive of local charities, he ran several ``Cut-a-thons'' at his shop to help raise funds for various groups. He also opened his salon at Christmastime to provide hair styling, at no charge, for those in need.
Mr. Granja was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford. As a younger man, he had been active with the Boy Scouts as a leader and committee member.
Besides his wife, his survivors include a son, Richard Granja of New Milford; two daughters, Carol Lee Granja of Norwalk, Conn., and Christina Granja of Bethel; two brothers, Manuel and Jack Granja, both of Danbury; three sisters, Delores Malumphy of New Milford, Zulmira Sherwood of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mary Jane Perreira of Gainesville, Fla.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Paul X. Tavino
Paul X. Tavino, 41, died Saturday at his home in Danbury.
Mr. Tavino was the husband of the late Kathleen Tavino.
Born in Franconia, N.H., Jan. 4, 1957, he was a son of Peter A. and Beryle Dalage Tavino of Franconia.
He was a 1979 graduate of Fairfield University, Fairfield, Conn.
Mr. Tavino was a member of St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury.
Besides his parents, his survivors include two daughters, Nicole Maria and Andrea Lynn; three brothers, Ralph of Louisville, Colo., Edward of Switzerland, and Chris of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Ellen of Berlin, N.H., and Sally of Manchester, N.H.; a niece and a nephew.

Amancio R. Rivera
Amancio R. Rivero, 47, a retired shipping clerk, died Monday at his home.
Mr. Rivera, of Panorama Drive, Brewster, was the husband of Yolanda Merente Rivera.
He was born in Puerto Rico, June 9, 1950, a son of Urbana Rodriguez Rivera of Puerto Rico and the late Carlos Rivera. He lived in Danbury for one year before moving to Brewster 17 years ago. He was educated in Puerto Rico and Danbury.
Before ill health forced his retirement, Mr. Rivera was employed at Schein Pharmaceutical in Carmel.
He was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster.
Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Rivera is survived by a son, Amancio J. Rivera; three brothers, Leonardo Marrero of Puerto Rico and Louis E. and Santos Rivera, both of Danbury; five sisters, Norma I. and Migdalia Rivera, both of Danbury, and Diesyderia, Evangelita and Iluminda Rivera, all of Puerto Rico; and 42 nieces and nephews.

Edward M. Lawrence
Edward M. Lawrence, Lt. U.S.N. Ret., 83, a retired naval officer and former insurance executive, died Sunday at his home.
Mr. Lawrence, of St. George Place, Sandy Hook, was the husband of Jean Bryan Lawrence.
He was born in Memphis, Tenn., Aug. 15, 1914, a son of Frederick and Louise Rodgers Lawrence.
A resident of Newtown since 1963, Mr. Lawrence lived at Huntington Ridge Road until moving to Sandy Hook a year ago.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and continued his career for 20 years retiring with the rank of lieutenant.
Following his retirement from the military, Mr. Lawrence was employed as an executive with the Cigna Insurance Corporation.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, William Lawrence of Seattle, Wash.; three daughters, Joanna Lawrence-Aamar of New Preston, Conn., Bette Piskura of Roxbury , and Diane Lawrence-Gregory of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Robert Lawrence of Memphis, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
Private funeral services will take place in Scituate, Mass., at the convenience of the family.
The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown is in charge of arrangements.'
Annie Brennan
Annie Cavanaugh Brennan, 103, a native of Ireland and the mother of Thomas Lawrence Brennan of Danbury, died March 24 in Bayside, Queens, N.Y.
Mrs. Brennan was the wife of the late Austin Brennan who died in 1957.
She was born in Greencastle, County Donegal, Ireland, on Sept. 24, 1894. She left Ireland in 1928 and settled in Brooklyn. N.Y.
As a domestic servant, she worked during the summers in Washington, Conn., and she often told her family of visiting the newly formed Candlewood Lake. She also worked for 12 years at the Brooklyn Jewish Hospital.
In 1966, Mrs. Brennan moved to Floral Park, N.Y., where she made her home with her daughter, Maureen Barr.
Besides her son in Danbury and daughter in Floral Park, Mrs. Brennan is survived by another son, Charles Joseph Brennan of Port Jervis, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in Ireland, Scotland and Luxembourg.
Father Brian Barr, her grandson, concelebrated her funeral Mass at Our Lady of Victory in Floral Park. Burial took place in St. John's Cemetery, Queens, N.Y.
August Goelz
August Goelz of Vermont, formerly of Danbury and New Fairfield, died April 7 in Rutland, Vt. He was 84.
Mr. Goelz was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 13, 1914, a son of the late Frederick and Katherine (Grozinger) Goelz. He moved with his family to Danbury at a young age, attended Henry Abbott Regional Technical High School and then opened the Goelz Electric Co. He settled in New Fairfield and lived there for many years before retiring to West Pawlet, Vt., in 1973.
He was a veteran of World War II who served the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was a past president of the New Fairfield Lions Club, a member of New Fairfield Fire Co. A, and a life member of Post 149 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Until recently he was active in the Wells Modern Woodmen and the Pawlet United Church.
Predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Janice (Kinney) Goelz, he is survived by two sons, David August and Larry Starr Goelz, both of Hollis, N.H.; a grandson, Lawrence Frederick Goelz of Merrimack, N.H.; two great-granddaughters, Katriana Ave Marie Goelz of Merrimack and Kara Lynn Menard of Northboro, Mass.; a sister, Christine Messer of Brookfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
There are no services, as his body will be donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. Arrangements are by the Robert M. King Funeral Home of Granville, N.Y. '
Marie Capellaro
Marie Capellaro of Brittania Drive, Danbury, died Monday at Glen Hill Health Care Center, Danbury. She was 70.
Mrs. Capellaro was the wife of Allan Capellaro. She was born in Danbury on Nov. 13, 1927, a daughter of the late Henry C. & Josephine (Ruvo) DeFabritis. She attended schools in Bethel and Danbury, and graduated from Danbury High School. From 1950 to 1960, she was a legal secretary for her late brother, Judge Louis A. DeFabritis. She also worked as a secretary and was a stockholder of Aunt Hack Real Estate Inc.; and was a lifetime incorporator of Danbury Hospital.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Louis A. Capellaro of New Fairfield, and several nieces and nephews.

Gerard Endres
Gerard J. Endres of 28 Stone St., Danbury, died Monday at Danbury Hospital. He was 80.
Mr. Endres was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on June 28, 1917, a son of the late John B. and Mathilde (Funk) Endres. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and he worked as a New York City police officer for more than 20 years, retiring in 1966.
Previously of Copake Falls, N.Y., he moved in 1979 to Danbury, where he was a member of Sacred Heart Church.
Predeceased in 1992 by his wife, Virginia (Rhodes) Endres, he was also the widower of Gladys (Stark) Endres, who died in 1976. Survivors include a daughter, Bernadette Sihler of Herndon, Va.; a sister, Anne Zack of Long Island; and four grandchildren.

Delbert Hudson
Delbert L. Hudson of Mount Dora, Fla., father of Wesley Aaron Hudson of New Fairfield, died Monday in Florida. He was 43.
Mr. Hudson, who lived briefly in Bethel, was born in Orlando, Fla., a son of Herbert and Ethel Hudson of Apopka, Fla. He graduated from Apopka High School and worked for Citrus Central Inc. before starting his own business in 1993.
Besides his son and parents, he is survived by a brother, five sisters and several nieces and nephews, all of Florida.
Services will be tomorrow at Lumas Funeral Home in Apopka.
Helen McDonald
Helen M. McDonald of 13 Park Lawn Drive, Bethel, and formerly of Newtown, died Wednesday at Danbury Hospital. She was 73.
Mrs. McDonald was born in Danbury, June 14, 1925, a daughter of the late Louis T. and Jennie Bosomera Charles. She attended Danbury schools and lived in the area all her life. Before retiring in 1990, she worked as a dietary aid at the former Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown.
The widow of John W. McDonald Sr., she is survived by three sons, John W. McDonald Jr. of Mesa, Ariz., Charles Ludington and William Ludington; a brother, Louis T. Charles Jr. of Danbury; a sister, Sara Dressing of Cocoa, Fla.; and several grandchildren.
SERVICES: Tomorrow, 10 a.m., Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury. The Rev. Dr. David Reinhardt officiating. Burial follows in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

Joseph Krobusek
Joseph Edward Krobusek of Cherniske Road, New Milford, and formerly of Danbury, died Thursday at The Kent in Kent. He was 70.
Mr. Krobusek was born in Chicago, Ill., May 16, 1927, a son of Edward and Estelle Joyce Krobusek. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He worked for the carpenters Local Union No. 210 before becoming self-employed. He was a member of Erza Woods Post American Legion in New Milford, where he lived for the past 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Merritt Krobusek.
Cremation will be at Ferncliff Crematory, Hartsdale, N.Y. There are no calling hours. Arrangements by Hull Funeral Service of New Milford.
Kenneth Nichols
Kenneth Sidney Nichols of 101 Simeon Road, Bethel, died Wednesday at Danbury Hospital. He was 84.
Mr. Nichols was born in Yonkers, N.Y., May 16, 1913, a son of George and Alice Hunt Nichols. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received an honorable discharge after being wounded at Pearl Harbor. A longtime resident of Bethel, he worked as an automobile mechanic until retiring.
Survivors include two nieces, Priscilla Hoechner of Burlington, Vt., and Nancy Smith of Richmond, Va., and their families.
Services were private. Cremation was at Ferncliff Crematory, Hartsdale, N.Y. Arrangements by Hull Funeral Service, Danbury.
