Germaine Scalabrini
Germaine Routhier Scalabrini of Coaticook, Canada, formerly of Brewster, N.Y., died April 11 in Coaticook. She was 87.

Mrs. Scalabrini is the wife of Edmond Scalabrini. She and her first husband, Leopold Routhier, lived in Brewster for about 10 years in the 1960s and '70s.

Besides her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Denise Tremblay of Brewster, Gisele Moore Isabelle of Danbury, Jeannine Tremblay of Nashua, N.H., and Solange Riendeau of Coaticook; four sons, Jean M. Routhier of Danbury, Norman Routhier of Lowell, Mass., Guy Routhier of Seattle, Wash., and Ronald Routhier of Nashua; and 12 grandchildren.

Services were in Canada.

Margaret Gentile
Margaret T. Gentile of Stamford, mother of Marie Salata of Danbury, died Wednesday in Stamford. She was 88.

Besides her local daughter, the widow of Louis R. Gentile is survived by a son, a sister, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial, today, 10 a.m., St. Leo's Roman Catholic Church, Stamford. Burial in Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Stamford. Arrangements by Bosak Funeral Home, Stamford.

Catalina Quintero
Catalina Quintero of 15 Prince St., Danbury, died Thursday at her home. She was 91.

Mrs. Quintero, a native of Spain, was a member of St. Joseph Church in Danbury. She is survived by her children, Flora Giner of Danbury and Francisco Blanco of Spain, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Private services and burial were conducted in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Arrangements by Green Funeral Home of Danbury.'

Fred Frulla
Fred J. Frulla of Island Hill Avenue, Ridgefield, died Thursday at his home. He was 69.

Mr. Frulla was the husband of Anna Scarpetti Frulla.

He was born in South Salem, N.Y., April 22, 1928, a son of Enrico and Francesca Frulla. He attended Lewisboro, N.Y., schools and graduated from Katonah High School, Katonah, N.Y., as well as the Warren Business Institute of Bridgeport.

Mr. Frulla owned and operated the former Fred's Exxon of Ridgefield from 1979 to 1994, as well as the National Car Rental Agency of Ridgefield.

He was a member of the Gasoline Retailers Association of Connecticut; and the Italian American Mutual Aid Society, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, a past member of the Marquette Council Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Mary's Church, all of Ridgefield.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Besides his wife of 42 years, he is survived by two sons, Mark of Woodbury and Robert of Ridgefield; a brother, Mario of Ridgefield; a sister, Yolanda Torcellini of Ridgefield; and three grandchildren.

CALLING HOURS: Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m., Kane Funeral Home, 41 Catoonah St., Ridgefield.

SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, 10 a.m., St. Mary's Church, Ridgefield. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Members of the American Legion and the VFW will conduct services at 4:15 p.m. in the funeral home.

Quinto Montesi
Quinto J. Montesi died Thursday at his Danbury home. He was 84.

Mr. Montesi was born in Danbury, April 13, 1914, a son of the late Giovanni and Annunziata Cassini Montesi. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for 33 years as an insurance representative for the John Hancock Insurance Co.

A lifelong resident of Danbury, he was a member of Danbury Elks Lodge No. 120, the Catholic War Veterans and American Legion Post 60 in Danbury.

Survivors include two sons, Richard of New Canaan and Donald of Danbury; two brothers, Louis of Danbury and Fred of Bethel; three sisters, Dorothy Osnoe of Brewster, N.Y., Elizabeth Salvestrini of Danbury and Margaret Pambianchi of Florida; two grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

SERVICES: Prayer service, Monday, 11 a.m., Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury. Friends may call at the funeral home between 10 and 11 a.m. Monday.'

John DellAngelo
John J. DellAngelo, a charter member of the Ball Pond Fire Company in New Fairfield, died Friday at his Lillian Avenue home in New Fairfield. He was 72.

Mr. DellAngelo was the husband of Rosa DellAngelo.

He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., April 12, 1926, a son of John and Louisa Presti DellAngelo, and he relocated to his family's homeland in Italy as a youngster. He returned to the Bronx after World War II and moved to New Fairfield in 1955. A masonry contractor by trade, he was a long-time volunteer in the New Fairfield community, and he served on its Zoning Board of Appeals for several years.

He was the last surviving founding member of Ball Pond Fire Co., and he was a member and former trustee of the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge, Sons of Italy, in Danbury.

Besides his wife of 49 years, he is survived by two sons, Louis of Pawling, N.Y., and John of New Fairfield; a brother, Mario of New Fairfield; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Stephen Fako
Stephen Fako, 77, a lifelong Danbury resident and a retired employee of the Town of Redding, died Sunday at the Pope John Paul II Center for Health Care in Danbury.

Formerly of Coal Pit Hill Road and the Glen Apartments in Danbury, Mr. Fako was the husband of the late Ruby Jennings Fako.

He was born in Danbury, Nov. 11, 1920, a son of Paul and Elizabeth Yurik Fako. He was educated in Danbury schools.

A veteran of World War II, Mr. Fako served with the U.S. Army.

As a young man, he worked as a hatter for the former Neumann-Endler Hat Co. He later worked for the Public Works Department of the Town of Redding until his retirement in 1985.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Danbury Sokol Club.

Mr. Fako is survived by a son, Stephen P. Fako of Danbury; a daughter, Carol Ann Bennett also of Danbury; two brothers, John and Paul Fako, both of Danbury; a sister, Susan Baril of Bethel; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant grandson, John Michael Fako.

John H. Doran
John H. Doran, 61, a retired truck driver, died Saturday at the Bethel Health Care Center.

Mr. Doran lived at 11 Woodview Drive in Brookfield.

He was born in Middletown, N.Y., Nov. 4, 1936, a son of John and Nellie Robertson Doran. He moved to Danbury as a child and was educated in Danbury schools.

Before illness forced his retirement, Mr. Doran was employed as a truck driver at C & D Moving and Storage. He had previously worked for Mariano Moving & Storage Co., and had also been employed for many years at the former Castro Convertible Co.

Mr. Doran is survived by a son, John R. Doran of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Angie LaMontagne of Sumter, S.C., and Celeste Holmes of West Charleston, Vt.; a brother, William Doran of Danbury; two sisters, Nellie Koontz of Pasadena, Md., and Janet Nienstadt of Danbury; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Doran, who died as an infant.

John F. Karpich Jr.
John F. Karpich Jr., 81, a longtime Danbury resident, died Sunday at the Filosa Convalescent Home.

Mr. Karpich, of 19 Roger Ave., Danbury, was the husband of the late Katherine E. Whalen Karpich.

He was born in Haverhill, Mass., July 21, 1916, a son of John F. and Lillian Knowlton Karpich. He was educated in Massachusetts and moved to Danbury when he was 16.

A veteran of World War II, he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater Campaigns.

Before his retirement, Mr. Karpich was employed for 20 years as an assistant manager at Bargain World in Danbury. He had previously worked at Ben's Workmen Store on White Street in Danbury.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Church Choir. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, McGivney Council #29. He was also a member of the VFW, DAV, and the American Legion.

His survivors include a son, John F. Karpich III of New Milford; two daughters, Kelly Beschle and Judy Karpich, both of Danbury; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

CALLING HOURS: Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury.

SERVICES: Wednesday at 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.

Martha Cable Lawlor
Martha Cable Lawlor, 73, a life-long area resident, died Friday at Mediplex of Danbury.

Mrs. Lawlor, of 36 West Wooster St., Danbury, was the wife of the late Thomas J. Lawlor.

Born in Washington, Conn., on Feb. 11, 1925, she was a daughter of Alton and Bessie Hinckley Cable.

She spent her early life in Washington and then lived for the greater part of her life in Danbury.

Her survivors include five sons, Thomas J. Lawlor of Newtown, Michael F. Lawlor of Trinity, N.C., Paul H. Lawlor of Danbury, David S. Lawlor of Lascassas, Tenn., and Shawn E. Lawlor of Warren, Conn; two daughters, Susanne M. Monard of Pollisville, Md., and Lizabeth J. Ingram of Rockvale, Tenn.; a brother, Conrad Cable of New Milford; two sisters, Mary Rosato and Esther Doty, both of New Milford; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Today at 4 p.m., a memorial service at the Church of Christ, 90 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

The Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford, is in charge of arrangements. '

Gary C. Benson
Gary C. Benson, 51, a quality control engineer for Nash Engineering of Trumbull, died Sunday at Danbury Hospital.

Mr. Benson, of 6 Maple Drive, Sandy Hook, was the husband of Carol Hess Benson.

He was born in Danbury on Dec. 11, 1946, a son of Genevieve Vosilus Benson of Wallingford, Conn., and the late Gilbert Benson. He was a graduate of Danbury High School and attended Norwich University and Western Connecticut State University.

A resident of Sandy Hook since 1973, Mr. Benson was a member of the Newtown Congregational Church.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Jeremy Benson of Newtown and Christopher Benson of Sandy Hook; a daughter, Katharine Benson of Sandy Hook; a brother, the Rev. Timothy Benson of Holliston, Mass.; two aunts; and three nephews. Mr. Benson was predeceased by a son, Jon Benson, in 1985.

Mary Drummond
Mary Drummond, 86, mother of Marilyn Coscia of Ridgefield, died Monday at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, N.Y.

Mrs. Drummond, of LaGrangeville, N.Y., was the wife of the late Ewen ``Red'' Drummond.

She was born in Minsk, Russia, on March 8, 1912.

Mrs. Drummond was a homemaker. She was a member of Beekman Senior Citizens.

Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, Ewen A. Drummond of LaGrangeville; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

CALLING HOURS: Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, 655 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, N.Y.

SERVICES: Thursday at 11 a.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home. Burial will be in Beekman Cemetery, Beekman, N.Y. '

Victor A. DeCesare
Victor A. DeCesare, 75, a retired Naval officer, died Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y.

A resident of Brookfield since 1953, Mr. DeCesare lived at 100 Whisconier Hill Road. He was the husband of Doris Higgins DeCesare.

He was born in Lawrence, Mass., on May 3, 1922, a son of John and Elizabeth Izza DeCesare. Before moving to Brookfield, he lived in Brooklyn, N.Y.

During his long career with the U.S. Navy, he served during both World War II and the Korean War. He retired in 1967 with the rank of lieutenant commander.

Mr. DeCesare was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Brookfield. He was a member of the McGivney Council #29 Knights of Columbus of Danbury and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, John D. Kennedy Assembly, also of Danbury. He was a member of American Legion Post #100 of Bethel and the Catholic War Veterans of Danbury.

Besides his wife, Mr. DeCesare is survived by a son, Richard J. DeCesare of Brookfield; two daughters, Yeoua Gross of Hackettstown, N.J., and Donna Eaton of New Salem, Mass.; and five grandchildren.

Gilda M. Massey
Gilda M. ``Gerry'' Massey, 73, sister of Josephine Simalevich of Danbury, died Thursday in the Wedgemere Convalescent Home in Massachusetts.

A resident of Raynham, Mass., Mrs. Massey was the wife of the late Ernest J. ``Bob'' Massey.

She was born in Danbury, a daughter of Atilio and Frances Pasquen Caponera. She was educated in Danbury schools.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Massey was employed for many years as a marketing associate for Shaw's Supermarket of Raynham. She was previously employed as a quality control inspector with Reed and Barton Silversmiths for 25 years.

Besides her sister in Danbury, Mrs. Massey is survived by a son, Robert J. Massey of West Bridgewater, Mass.; a brother, Frank Caponera of Stafford Springs, Conn.; two other sisters, Tina O'Brien of West Hartford, Conn., and Rose Disbrow of Wethersfield, Conn.; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Reindeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., Taunton, Mass.; followed at 12:30 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton, Mass.
