Theressa E. Hamlin
Theressa Esther Hinckley Hamlin, 80, the winner of many awards for her hand-made dolls, aprons and other children's items, died Wednesday at Mediplex of Danbury.

Mrs. Hamlin, of 6 Holley St., Danbury, was the wife of Chester F. Hamlin.

She was born in Copake, N.Y., Aug. 9, 1917, a daughter of Edgar and Isabella McIntosh Hinckley.

A Danbury resident for most of her life, Mrs. Hamlin was a 50-year member of Central Christian Church and was also a member of the Tuesday Sewing Circle. She was a 49-year member of the Echo Rebekah Lodge #30 serving as Noble Grand in 1955 and financial secretary for more than 20 years. She served as District Deputy President of the Rebekah Assembly in 1961 and again in 1964. More recently she was treasurer for AARP Chapter 1067.

Mrs. Hamlin was an exhibitor and vendor at the Danbury Fair until it closed. She won a number of blue ribbons for her handiwork including a Grand Prize for her crochet work.

Besides her husband of 57 years, Mrs. Hamlin is survived by a son, Edward Hamlin of Danbury; three sisters, Grace Okarmus of Port Charlotte, Fla., Ruth Muskus of Ocala, Fla., and Mary Blunt of Bristol, Fla.; three grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Central Christian Church, 71 West St., Danbury 06810, or to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Fairfield County Chapter, 4 Forest St., New Canaan, CT 06840.

CALLING HOURS: Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Rebekah Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury.

SERVICES: Friday at 1 p.m. at the Central Christian Church, Danbury, with the Rev. Crawford H. Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.'

Maureen Martinez
Maureen Ferris Martinez, 66, a retired supervisor for the New Milford Hospital laboratory, died Tuesday at her home in Brookfield.

Mrs. Martinez, of 417 Candlewood Lake Road, was the wife of the late Dr. Enrique Martinez.

She was born in Danbury, Sept. 18, 1931, a daughter of Earl L. and Regina Coyne Ferris. She spent her early life in Danbury and was a graduate of St. Peter's School, Danbury High School and later Western Connecticut State University.

Before her retirement as a supervisor, Mrs. Martinez had been employed at the New Milford Hospital laboratory for 30 years.

She was a parishioner of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield.

Her survivors include a daughter, Reyna Kosla of Crownsville, Md.; two brothers, Roger L. Ferris of Redding and Earl L. Ferris of Great Barrington, Mass.; two sisters, Gloria M. Adrian of Scarsdale, N.Y., and Jeanne F. Durkin of Danbury; and a granddaughter and grandson.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Connecticut Chapter, 185 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, CT 06109.

CALLING HOURS: Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford.

SERVICES: Friday at 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

Florence Perrone
Florence Pearl Westerfield Perrone, 74, a former Danbury resident, died Sunday in Jacksonville, N.C.

Mrs. Perrone had moved from Danbury to North Carolina in 1990.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen Ann Perrone Borsey, and a granddaughter, both of Jacksonville.

Services were conducted in Jacksonville, with the Johnson-Gaskins Funeral Home, 2685 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville, N.C., in charge of arrangements.'

Eli Bauer
Eli Bauer, 69, an award winning free lance cartoonist and the father of Laura Misciagna of Ridgefield, died Wednesday at the Sound Shore Medical Center.

Mr. Bauer had been a resident of New Rochelle, N.Y., for the past 31 years.

He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., Nov. 17, 1928, a son of Max and Goldie Plever Bauer. He was a graduate of the High School of Industrial Arts in New York City.

At a young age, Mr. Bauer began his career as a cartoonist and cartoon designer in the 1940s with ``Superman'' comics. He then began selling gag cartoons to magazines such as Colliers, National Lampoon, Saturday Review and later Playboy, Omni and Punch.

In Hollywood, Calif., he freelanced for NBC and created promos for shows such as ``Max Liebman Presents,'' ``Comedy Hour,'' the ``George Gobel Show'' and many others. He went on to animate commercials for Jell-O, Dodge, Pabst Beer, Olympia Beer and Camel.

Mr. Bauer returned East to work for CBS as a storyman and layout designer for Terrytoons. He worked on animated shorts for movie house theaters as well as early children's television. Some of the regular shorts he worked on included ``Heckle & Jeckle,'' ``Mighty Mouse,'' ``Tom Terrific'' and others.

In 1959, he created the theatrical cartoon ``The Minute-and-a-Half Man'' which featured the colonial character Hector Heathcote, which later became a Saturday morning show for NBC.

He left Terrytoons to form his own animation studio with director Al Kouzel. They created many TV commercials, ``Sesame Street'' cartoon spots and 65 episodes of ``Winky Dink and You.'' Mr. Bauer worked on the story for ``How To Avoid a Friendship,'' which was nominated for an Academy Award.

Throughout his career, Mr. Bauer won many wards for his work at film festivals all over the world.

Besides his daughter in Ridgefield, his survivors include his wife, Dianne Bauer of Olympia, Wash.; a son, Nyles Bauer of Tucson, Ariz.; another daughter, Aimee Leone of Montebello, N.Y.; a sister, Jackie Smart of New Rochelle; and three grandchildren.

Contributions in Mr. Bauer's memory may be made to the American Lung Association, 1740 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10019.

SERVICES: Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the George T. Davis Funeral Home, 14 Le Count Place, New Rochelle, with Rabbi Rosenzveig officiating.

John W. Keogh Sr.
John W. Keogh Sr., 84, father of John W. Keogh Jr. of Danbury, died Tuesday at Norwalk Hospital.

A resident of Norwalk for many years, Mr. Keogh was the husband of Helen Gallagher Keogh.

He was born in Franklin, Mass., June 13, 1913, a son of John P. and Katherine Keogh.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Before his retirement, Mr. Keogh was a tool designer for the Nash Engineering Company.

Besides his wife and son, his survivors include two daughters, Louise Sieviec of Stamford, Conn., and Eileen Duddie of Norwalk; six grandchildren; and a niece.

CALLING HOURS: Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.

SERVICES: Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Philip's Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Place, Norwalk. Burial will take place in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.'

A. Schoenbaum
Adeladie Schoenbaum, 83, the retired owner of a boutique clothing company and the mother of Gary Schoenbaum of Newtown, died December 21 at the Jersey Shore Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Eatontown, N.J.

A resident of Red Bank, N.J., for the past 14 years, Mrs. Schoenbaum was the wife of the late Joseph R. Schoenbaum.

She was born in New York City and had lived in Millburn, N.J., before moving to Red Bank.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Schoenbaum was an owner and manager partner of J. Alm & Co. of Millburn, N.J.

She was a past president of the Roseland P.T.A. in Roseland, N.J. She was also a past member of the Board of Education of the Roseland School District. She served as a volunteer at St. Barnabas Hospital in Millburn and the Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. She also volunteered with the Red Cross in Millburn and Red Bank.

Besides her son in Newtown, Mrs. Schoenbaum is survived by two daughters, Judy McCormack of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Robin Vogel of Fairhaven, N.J.; a sister, Lillian Tarin of New York City; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The John E. Day Funeral Home of Red Bank was in charge of arrangements.

Michael Valluzzo Sr.
Michael J. Valluzzo Sr., 96, a former Danbury resident, died Tuesday in St. Joseph Manor, Trumbull, Conn.

A longtime resident of Trumbull, Mr. Valluzzo was born in New York City and lived in Danbury until moving to Trumbull in 1941. He was the husband of the late Maria D. Marcantanio Valluzzo.

Before his retirement 24 years ago, he was employed at Warnaco in Bridgeport for 12 years.

Following his retirement, Mr. Valluzzo worked in the Trumbull Town Hall serving as the senior citizen bus dispatcher.

He was a member of the Senior Citizens Club and Christ the King Church.

His survivors include a son, Michael J. Valluzzo Jr. of Trumbull; a daughter, Marie E. Convertito of Redding; a sister, Rose Peck of Danbury; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

CALLING HOURS: Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.

SERVICES: Friday at 8:15 a.m. at the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home; followed at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the King Church. Burial will be in Long Hill Cemetery, Trumbull.'

Joseph T. Johnson
Joseph Tyrone Johnson, 29, a fork-lift operator and a former Danbury resident, died December 30 at Memorial Medical Center, Savannah, Ga.

Mr. Johnson had recently moved to Savannah.

He was the husband of Alison Johnson.

Born in Danbury, March 4, 1968, he was a son of Joseph Taylor of Danbury and the late Joe Ann Johnson. He graduated from Danbury schools and worked for the Barden Corporation before moving to Georgia.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Danbury.

Besides his wife and father, Mr. Johnson is survived by four sons, Joseph Tyrone Johnson of Manning, S.C., Darryl Spruill of Danbury, and Antwon and Akil White, both of Danbury; two daughters, Martika Andrews of Danbury and Cherena of Georgia; a brother, Ricky Taylor of Chicago, Ill.; seven sisters, Brenda Johnson, Norma Jean Johnson, and Anita Johnson, all of Waterbury, Lula Taylor and Yvonne Taylor, both of Chicago, and Wanda Taylor and Rosa Mae Donald, both of Albany; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

CALLING HOURS: Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the New Hope Baptist Church, 10 Cherry St., Danbury.

The Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd Rose
Lloyd Rose, 83, a retired owner of the former Rose Dependable Refuse, died Wednesday at the Bethel Health Care Center.

Mr. Rose, of 63 West Redding Road, Danbury, was the husband of Elsie Arnold Rose.

He was born in Danbury, July 24, 1914, a son of David and Cora Thomas Rose. He was educated in Danbury schools.

For many years, Mr. Rose was employed as a building mover for the Arthur L. Venning Company. He then went on to start his own business, Rose Dependable Refuse, which he owned and operated until his retirement at the age of 72 when he sold the company to Frank E. Thomas.

Besides his wife, Mr. Rose is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 40 North St., Danbury 06810.

There are no calling hours.

SERVICES: Saturday at 10:30 a.m. graveside services at Wooster Cemetery with friends and relatives meeting at the Wooster Cemetery Office on Ellsworth Avenue at 10 a.m.

The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

Maria Schneider
Maria Schneider, a former resident of Bethel, died Wednesday at Mediplex of Danbury. She was 92.

Mrs. Schneider was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on March 26, 1905. She was reared and educated in Germany and moved to the United States in 1964, settling in Bethel soon after. She was a domestic in both Germany and this country.

Survivors include a son, Lothar Schneider of Bethel, with whom she made her home, and Agon Schneider of Germany; a daughter, Renata Iovino of Florida; and six grandchildren.

Contributions in memory of Maria Schneider may be made to a charity of one's choice.

CALLING HOURS: Saturday, 4 to 6 p.m., Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.

Ruth Reedy
Ruth Reedy, 79, a retired teacher, formerly of Bethel, died Thursday in Sumner, Wash.

Mrs. Reedy was the wife of the late Eugene Reedy.

Born in Lewiston, N.Y, Feb. 8, 1918, she was a daughter of Erwin and Florence Goodman.

Mrs. Reedy had been employed as a teacher at Morris Street School in Danbury for a number of years.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Yanni of Burleson, Texas, and Jill Reedy of Sumner, Wash.; a sister, Janet Schultz, and a brother, Malcolm Goodman, both of New York State; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions may be made to a hospice of one's choice.

There are no services.

William Seymour
William W. Seymour of Rowayton, brother of Taylor Seymour of Bethel and Philippa Fernandes of Newtown, died Wednesday at Norwalk Hospital. He was 51.

Besides his brother and sister, he is survived by a daughter, Jane Seymour of Rowayton, three other sisters and many other relatives.

CALLING HOURS: Saturday, 1 to 2:30 p.m., Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.

SERVICES: Saturday, 2:30 p.m., at the funeral home.'

Helen Scholtz
Helen T. Scholtz, formerly of Stadley Rough Road in Danbury, died Wednesday at Pope John Paul II Center for Health Care, Danbury. She was 89.

Mrs. Scholtz was the widow of Theodore W. Scholtz.

She was born in New York City on Nov. 17, 1908, a daughter of the late Thomas and Nellie (Hanafin) Flayhive. She had lived in Danbury for more than 25 years, moving here from Brooklyn, N.Y.

She was a homemaker who was an active member of St. Gregory the Great Church and its senior citizen's group. She also was active with the Girl Scouts while living in Brooklyn.

Survivors include five daughters, Anne Tracey of Danbury, Sister Loretto de Sales, CSJ, of Mary Louis Convent in Jamaica, N.Y., Bette Lou Martell of Dunwoody, Ga., Jeanne Marie Scholtz of New York City and Marijane Ostrander of Fairfield; a sister, Marie Grogan of Versailles, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions in memory of Helen Scholtz may be made to a charity of one's choice.

CALLING HOURS: Friday, 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
