Warner F. Mason
Warner F. Mason, 73, a retired foreign language teacher, died Sunday at his home in New Milford.

Mr. Mason lived at 113 Buckingham Road. He was the husband of the late Harriett Roller Mason.

He was born in Waltham, Mass., May 16, 1924, a son of John and Katherine Shaw Mason. He graduated from New Milford High School and the University of Connecticut and did postgraduate work at Yale University.

Before his retirement in 1977, Mr. Mason taught foreign languages in Arizona and in Branford and Durham.

A poet and benefactor of the arts, he was a member of the Connecticut Poetry Society.

Mr. Mason is survived by two brothers, Harlan P. Mason of Catawba, Va., and Maynard S. Mason of Oldsmar, Fla.; a sister, Janet Mason Collins of Staufordville, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice Home Care, New Milford VNA, 68 Park Lane Road, New Milford 06776.

Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.

The Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford is in charge of arrangements.

Angelina Garcia
Angelina Garcia, 69, one of the first women to serve as an ambulance volunteer for New York State, died Sunday at Danbury Hospital.

A 46-year resident of New Fairfield, Mrs. Garcia was the wife of Joseph Garcia.

She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on May 25, 1928, a daughter of Frank and Maria Loturco Lazetera. She was educated in Bronx schools.

Before her retirement, she worked for 10 years as a machine operator for Barden Corp. in Danbury. After leaving Barden, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Garcia was a past president of the Putnam Lake Ladies Auxiliary. She was also one of the founders of the Putnam Lake Fife & Drum Corps.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Putnam Lake.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Garcia is survived by two sons, Anthony and Frank Garcia, both of New Fairfield; a daughter, Mary Ann Rogers of Danbury; a brother, Joseph Lazetera of New Fairfield; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Putnam Division, 95 Gleneida Ave., Carmel, NY 10512.

CALLING HOURS: Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Terrace, Brewster.

SERVICES: Thursday at 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Putnam Lake. Burial will be in St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Brewster.

Jessie Fenton Boyle
Jessie Fenton Boyle, 96, an amateur artist, died Monday at the Lutheran Home in Southbury.

Mrs. Boyle was the wife of the late Alexander Boyle.

She was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., on Oct. 2, 1901, a daughter of Alexander and Lillian Stewart Fenton.

Mrs. Boyle had lived in Las Vegas and on the California coast in the towns of Little River and Santa Rosa.

Following the death of her husband in 1977, she moved to Kent, Conn., to be near her family. She became a resident of the Lutheran Home in 1996.

Mrs. Boyle is survived by many nieces and nephews including James P. Haman of Southbury.

Private burial will take place in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.

Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main St. South, Southbury is in charge of arrangements.'

Linda S. Zarmsky
Linda S. Zarmsky, 49, a former typesetter at the Bee Publishing Co. in Newtown, died Sunday at her home at 4 Winslow Road, Newtown.

Mrs. Zarmsky was the wife of William N. Zarmsky.

She was born in Stamford, Conn., on Oct. 15, 1949, a daughter of Leo and Helen Yanowitz Raduski.

Mrs. Zarmsky had been a resident of Newtown for the past 18 years.

Besides her husband, her survivors include a son, William J. Zarmsky of Newtown; a daughter, Cynthia Zarmsky, also of Newtown; two brothers, Leo Raduski of Easton, Conn., and Peter Raduski of Norwalk, Conn.; a sister, Carol Smith of Easton; and two grandchildren.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Cremation will take place at Mountain Grove Crematory, Bridgeport.

The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown is in charge of arrangements.

Lorraine M. Knortz
Lorraine M. Knortz, 67, a talented needle worker and world traveler, died Sunday at Waterview Hills in Purdys, N.Y.

Mrs. Knortz, of 14 Manor Road, Ridgefield, was the wife of Herbert C. Knortz.

She was born in Garden City, Long Island, on May 20, 1930, a daughter of Franz and Mary Murath Kraut. She had lived in West Hartford before moving to Ridgefield 40 years ago. She also maintained a summer home at Hancock Lake in Maine.

Mrs. Knortz attended the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield.

Besides her husband, her survivors include two sons, Steven H. Knortz of Ridgefield and David C. Knortz of East Granby, Conn.; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Knortz of Philadelphia, Pa.; a brother Franz Kraut of of Austria; and eight grandchildren.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Fairfield County, 611 Riverside Ave., Westport, CT 06880.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral services and burial will be private.

The Kane Funeral Home, 41 Catoonah St., Ridgefield is in charge of arrangements.

Merlin Rice
Merlin Kittel Rice, a self-employed carpenter in the Danbury area, died Tuesday at Putnam Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New York. He was 77.

Mr. Rice was born in Sheldon, Vt., on Feb. 15, 1920, a son of Willis Rice and Esther Kittel. He was a carpenter in Vermont before moving to the area.

Survivors include a son, Merlin of Dover Plains, N.Y.; a daughter, Ruth Bush of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter.

Contributions in memory of Mr. Rice may be made to the American Lung Association, 8 Mountain View Ave., Albany, NY 12205-9990.

SERVICES: Memorial service, Saturday, 1 p.m, Horn & Thomes Inc. Funeral Home, 83 E. Main St., Pawling, N.Y., the Rev. Mark Boufard, officiating. Calling hours immediately precede the service.

Archie Rinaldi Jr.
Archie Leo Rinaldi Jr. of 18 Bear Hill Road, New Milford, died Monday at his home. He was 58.

Mr. Rinaldi was born in Torrington on Nov. 24, 1940, a son of the late Archie L. and Constance Manghelitti Rinaldi. He attended St. Peter's School and Oliver Wolcott Technical-Vocational School, both in Torrington. He was a former member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves in Windsor Locks. Before moving to New Milford in 1977 and purchasing the New Milford Laundry, which he still owned, he owned Rinaldi Laundry in Torrington.

Survivors include three sons, Jeffrey of Washington, Conn., Stephen of New Milford and Michael of Danbury; two daughters, Christine Rinaldi of New Milford and Theresa Rinaldi of Danbury; a brother, Roger of Torrington; a sister, Constance Rinaldi of South Carolina; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, 10 a.m., St. Francis Xavier Church, New Milford. Burial in Center Cemetery, New Milford.'

Charles Suska
Charles R. Suska died Monday at his home in Roxbury. He was 82.

Mrs. Suska was the husband of the late Florence Neiss Suska.

There are no calling hours.

SERVICES: Thursday, 9 a.m., North Congregational Church, North Main Street, Woodbury. Burial in Center Cemetery, Roxbury. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere is in charge of the arrangements.

Anna Nelson
Anna Victoria Nelson, a Georgetown resident for most of her life, died Monday at the Masonic Geriatric Health Care Center in Wallingford. She was 89.

Mrs. Nelson was the widow of Martin Nelson.

She was born in Weston on June 7, 1908, a daughter of the late John and Hilma Larson Carlson. Before retiring, she was a cafeteria worker in the Weston School System and then at the Bennett Manufacturing Co., formerly in Georgetown. She was a member of the United Covenant Church and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Ridgefield.

Survivors include five sons, Leonard of Bridgeport, Roy of Chiefland, Fla., Clifford of New Milford, Martin Jr. of Washington, Conn., and Victor of Bridgewater; a daughter, Joyce Bennett of New Milford; two brothers, Victor Carlson of Georgetown and Carl Carlson of California; a sister, Emma Hedman of Bridgeport; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, five great-great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ingeborg Stachelczyk.

Anthony Francavilla
Anthony P. Francavilla of Ridgefield, a self-employed tile contractor, died Monday at Bridgeport Hospital. He was 64.

Mr. Francavilla was the husband of Mary Kestaubaum Francavilla.

He was born in Norwalk on Sept. 24, 1933, a son of the late Oraizo and Elvira Santorella Francavilla. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War and was a member of Post 149 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also was a member of the Sons of Italy. He lived in Norwalk before moving to Ridgefield.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Debbie Blackman of Fairfield; two brothers, John of Sarasota, Fla., and Joseph of Norwalk; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, 11 a.m., St. Joseph Church, South Main Street, South Norwalk. Burial is private.

Frances Ness
Frances Ness of 36 Maple Drive, New Milford, died Tuesday at the Bethel Health Care Facility. She was 77.

Mrs. Ness was the widow of Donald H. Ness.

She was born in Aachen, Germany, on Nov. 21 1925, a daughter of the late Leo and Anne Klubert Daniels. She moved to the United States in 1935 and lived in Mamaroneck, N.Y., before moving to New Milford in 1967.

Survivors include three sons, Daniel O. of Sherman and Michael J. and Rodney R., both of New Milford; and five grandchildren.

Cathy Stockwell
Cathy Stockwell of 294 Willow Springs, New Milford, died Tuesday at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was 40.

Mrs. Stockwell was the wife of John H. Stockwell.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Texas, on May 7 1957, a daughter of Doris Tatum Blasingame of Pittsburgh and the late Pat Blasingame. She lived in Stamford before moving to New Milford in 1986.

Besides her mother and her husband, she is survived by a son, James M. Fields of New Milford; and two sisters, Olivia Wagener of Longview, Texas, and Edith Voss of Pittsburgh.

SERVICES: Graveside, Friday, 11 a.m., Center Cemetery, New Milford.

Sylvia Valluzzo
A memorial mass for Sylvia Valluzzo will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Church, Brookfield. The wife of Carlo Valluzzo of Brookfield, she died Dec. 15 at Danbury Hospital at the age of 84. The Brookfield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Natalie Stahley
Natalie E. Stahley of 4 Simeon Road, Bethel, died Monday at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was 76.

Mrs. Stahley was the widow of William J. Stahley.

She was born in Hopewell Junction, N.Y., on Aug. 15, 1921, a daughter of the late Conklin C. and Lillian Vail. She was a graduate of Hopewell Junction schools. Before retiring, she worked for the F.H. Lee Hat Co. and then Davis & Geck.

She is survived by a niece, Stephanie Brown of Colchester, Vt., and other nieces and nephews.

Contributions in memory of Natalie Stahley may be made to the American Cancer Society, 40 North St., Danbury 06810; or the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford 06492.

Services are private. Burial is in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. The Green Funeral Home of Danbury is in charge of the arrangements.
