Kathleen Hermann
Kathleen W. Hermann, 53, a retired home health care professional and the sister of George W. Hermann of New Milford, died Tuesday at Milford Hospital, Milford, Conn.
Ms. Hermann had lived in New Canaan, Conn., until moving to Milford last year.
Born in Stratford, Conn., she was a daughter of George W. and Rosemary Hermann.
She was a graduate of Bunnell High School and Housatonic Community College.
Prior to her retirement due to ill health, Ms. Hermann was a home health care professional in the Stamford and New Canaan area.
She was involved with the Junior Women's Club in Stratford and was recognized for her volunteer work with the Arthritis Foundation.
Besides her brother in New Milford, Ms. Hermann is survived by five sisters, Rosemary W. Howard, Susan W. Lance, Jane H. Bourdeau, and Martha W. Bodington, all of Stratford, and Ann Dawkins of Temecula, Calif.; and 12 nieces and nephews.

James Keane
James R. Keane, a Danbury teacher, councilman and church organist, died yesterday at his Grand Street home in Danbury. He was 69.
Mr. Keane was born in Danbury, Sept. 8, 1928, a son of the late Alexander and Anna Krebs Keane. After graduating from Fairfield Prep in 1946, he received a bachelor's of science degree from Holy Cross College. He then earned a master's degree in history and education from Niagara University.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he began his teaching career in September of 1953 at Fairfield Prep _ where he taught Latin, English and history until 1957. He then taught Social Studies at Danbury High School and was faculty adviser to the Student Council and Latin Club, until retiring in 1990.
Active in community affairs, he was a member of the Danbury Common Council from 1955 to 1961 and chairman of the city's Flood and Erosion board from 1974 to 1992.
An accomplished musician, he was church organist and choir director for St. Joseph Church in Brookfield for 30 years, and he substituted at other local churches and played at many music events throughout Fairfield County.
He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Church, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the American Legion.
Survivors include a brother, George F. Keane of Trumbull and Sarasota, Fla.; a niece, two nephews and cousins.

Robert Blaney
Robert Blaney of Brewster, N.Y., died Wednesday at Danbury Hospital, Danbury. He was 89.
Mr. Blaney was the husband of Hannah VanWagner Blaney.
He was born in Brewster, April 21, 1909, a son of Daniel and Mary Ann Mitchell Blaney. He was a lifelong Brewster resident who owned and operated Robert Blaney Plumbing until retiring. A golfer, he played most frequently at the Dutcher Golf Course in Pawling, N.Y.
Mr. Blaney was a World War II Army veteran who served from 1943 to 1945.
He is survived by his wife and several nieces and nephews.

Adele Hoyt
Adele Vickery Hoyt of Palm Coast, Fla., formerly of Newtown and Southbury, died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital, Flagler, Fla. She was 91.
Mrs. Hoyt was the widow of Raymond H. Hoyt.
She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., Feb. 15, 1907, a daughter of John H. and Amanda Aders Kerkmann. She grew up in Rockaway, N.Y., then lived in Springdale and then in Newtown for 25 years. She moved to Southbury in 1985 and to Florida recently. She was a member of the Newtown Garden Club and a member and former president of the Springdale Garden Club.
Survivors include two sons, George of Palm Coast and Richard of Bethel; a sister, Winifred Star of Montauck, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughters.

James E. Doran
James Edward Doran, 76, father of Carol Pisano of Ridgefield, died Thursday at his home, in Pelham, N.Y. He was the husband of Dorothy Fallon Doran.
Born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., Feb. 20, 1922, he was a son of James and Ann Redican Doran.
Mr. Doran graduated from Pelham Memorial High School and attended Iona College. During World War II and the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of machinist mate, first class. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal and the P.O.W. Medal.
Mr. Doran worked as a claim representative for Allstate Insurance for 20 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the Knights of Mount Manresa and of St. Catherine's Church in Pelham and a charter member of the church's Holy Name Society.
Besides his wife of 52 years and daughter Carol, he is survived by two sons, James Jr. of Stormville, N.Y., and Richard H. of Pelham, N.Y.; five other daughters, Patricia Riely of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., Nancy Hazelton of Somers, N.Y., Margaret Juliano of Crystal Lake, Ill., Dorothy Dalbon of Larchmont, N.Y., and Anne Vento of New Rochelle, N.Y.; a sister, Jane Corrigan of New York; 18 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Anthony Pisano.

Florence L. Smith
Florence L. Smith, 60, a retired employed of Kimberly-Clark in New Milford, died Friday at her home, 2 Joel's Drive, New Fairfield.
She was the wife of Louis Smith.
Born in New Fairfield, March 23, 1938, she was a daughter of Joseph and Mary Tomaino Lobraico. She graduated from Danbury High School in 1956 and was a lifelong member of the New Fairfield community.
Mrs. Smith had worked in the engineering department of Kimberly-Clark for many years.
She was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Church of New Fairfield where she taught Confirmation classes, the Democratic Town Committee and Dream Come True, and an honorary member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Company ``A'' Fire Department.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Louis Jr. of Gaylordsville; two daughters, Maira Bogues of New Fairfield and Kim Hamed of Danbury; a sister, Jeanette Arconti of Danbury; a brother, Frank Lobraico of Sherman; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret H. Grady
Margaret Hyland Grady, 90, formerly active in the Patterson, N.Y., Democratic Club, died Thursday at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, N.Y.
Mrs. Grady, of Holmes, N.Y., was the wife of the late Frank T. Grady.
She was born in County Cavan, Ireland, May 26, 1907, a daughter of John and Susan Lynch Hyland. She was educated in Ireland, and emigrated to the United States in 1926.
Mrs. Grady was a member of the Patterson Senior Citizens and St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Pawling, N.Y.
Surviving are a son, Frank T. Grady of Millbrook, N.Y.; two daughters, Susan G. Way of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and May G. Lundington of Holmes, N.Y.; a brother, Bartley Hyland of Ireland; a sister, Susan McEvoy of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Catherine Walker
Catherine Palmowski Pasternack Walker, 80, died Wednesday at Pope John Paul II Center in Danbury.
She was the wife of the late Edward Walker.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., Nov. 25, 1917, she was a daughter of Stanley and Veronica Palmowski. She had lived most of her life in Jersey City before moving to Danbury in 1985.
Surviving are a son, Alexander Pasternack of Southbury; a brother, John Palmowski, and a sister, Sue Lauro, both of New Jersey; two grandsons; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Howard F. Hennessey
Howard Francis Hennessey, 82, a former resident of Weston, died Tuesday in Clearwater, Fla.
Before moving to Clearwater five years ago, Mr. Hennessey had lived in Weston for almost 50 years. He was the husband of Victoria Janeski Hennessey.
He was born in New York City, April 16, 1916, a son of Michael Joseph and Katherine Finnegan Hennessey.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Before his retirement, Mr. Hennessey had been employed at Remington Arms when it was located in Bridgeport.
While living in Weston, he was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Hennessey was a member of the Weston Board of Assessors and served as a special police officer for Weston.
Besides his wife of 57 yeas, Mr. Hennessey is survived by two sons, Howard Francis Hennessey II of Thomasville, Ga., and Michael Douglas Hennessey of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a daughter, Patricia Shoals of Bedford, N.H.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen V. Hennessey.

Dorathea P. Burpee
Dorathea P. Glaser Burpee, 90, a retired nurse who was a former supervisor at the Newington Hospital for Crippled Children, died Tuesday at her home.
Mrs. Burpee, of 67 Mansion House Road, Southbury, was the wife of the late Stiles Burpee.
She was born in Hartford May 7, 1908, a daughter of Rev. Samuel ``S.F.'' and Alma Damcrow Glaser. She lived in Hartford for many years and was a graduate of the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing.
During her nursing career, Mrs. Burpee worked as a private duty nurse as well as being employed as a supervisor at Newington Children's Hospital. She also volunteered for the Visiting Nurses of Hartford.
Following her 1950 move to Southbury, Mrs. Burpee volunteered for various national organizations.
She is survived by a niece.

Irene Mackerer
Irene Mackerer, 85, a resident of Brewster for more than 50 years, died Tuesday at the Bethel Health Care Center.
Mrs. Mackerer was the wife of the late late Oscar F. Mackerer.
She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, Nov. 24, 1912, a daughter of Charles and Margaret Gyetko Kish.
Before moving to Brewster, Mrs. Mackerer lived in Peekskill and Yorktown, N.Y.
She was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster.
Her survivors include two daughters, Priscilla Casey and Marlene King, both of Brewster; a sister, Louise Hipple of Sorento, Fla.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mackerer was predeceased by her son, Joseph Mackerer, in 1994.

Myra L. Decker
Myra L. Decker, 87, a retired employee of the Barden Corporation of Danbury, died Wednesday at The Kent Home, Kent.
Mrs. Decker was the wife of the late Oliver O. Decker.
She was born in Freeport, N.Y., on July 3, 1910. During her youth, she made her home in Danbury for many years. She later lived in Bethel and was a member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Decker is survived by a daughter, Nancy Cole of Roxbury; three grandchildren, Tammy Dushulaikis, Scott Cole, and David Cole, all of Brookfield; and five great-grandchildren.
