Ruth E. Herrick

Ruth E. Herrick of Crosby Street in Danbury died at her home on August 22, 1999. She was 88.

The wife of the late John J. Herrick, she was born in Portland, Maine on March 29, 1911, to the late Harry and Nellie (O'Connor) Shannon. She was a member of St. Peter Church.

She is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Herrick of Danbury; a sister, Mary Keefe of Portsmith, NH; four nieces, Harriete Cervera of Danbury; Maureen Worthing of Scarborough, Maine; Mary Griffin of Portland, Maine; Eleanor Grattan of Portsmith, NH; a nephew, William Frates of Pinellas Park, Fla.; and a grand niece, Kimberly Pascuzzi of Danbury.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church Wednesday morning at 9:15 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Najla D. Gebran

Najla (Deeb) Gebran, 93, of 5 French Street, Danbury, wife of the late Thomas Gebran, died on Monday at her residence.

Mrs. Gebran was born in Syria, Sept. 20, 1906, a daughter of the late Elias and Martha (Esper) Deeb.

She emigrated to the United States in 1913, first settling in Worcester, Mass. and has been an area resident for the past 65 years.

Mrs. Gebran was last employed in the ladies' garment district of New York.

She was a member of St. Ann's Melkite Greek Catholic Church of Danbury as well as a member of its Ladies Society and its Kitchen Committee.

She is survived by two sisters, Eva Kalil and Margaret Deeb, both of Worcester, Mass., as well as three nephews, George Kalil, Richard Kalil and Rodney Kalil.

The Rite of Burial will take place on Wednesday evening at 7:00 in St. Ann's Melkite Greek Catholic Church, 181 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury.

Burial will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester, Mass.

Friends will be received at St. Ann's Church on Wednesday after 5 p.m.

Contributions in Mrs. Gebran's memory may be made to St. Ann's Church Building Fund, 181 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, Conn., 06811.

Gerard Musman

Gerard Musman, 51, a Raymond resident since 1989, died Friday, August 20, 1999 at St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia. Mr. Musman was born Nov. 13, 1947 in Montpelier, France to Chil and Blanka (Koppelman) Musman. He came to Ellis Island, New York with his parents aboard the last voyage of the Ile de France in 1958. He grew up and attended school in Bronx, New York.

He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, working as an interpreter as part of the Black Beret's Special Forces. After his military service, he operated a bakery in Connecticut with his wife Susan Hennessey, whom he married May 25, 1968 in Bethel, Conn. In 1977 he moved to Aberdeen, Washington where he was employed as a respiratory therapist at the old St. Joseph's Hospital. From 1983 to 1987 he owned and operated American International Medical Sales out of Aberdeen, refurbishing used medical equipment for resale in third world countries. While there he also sponsored 14 persecuted Ethiopian Orthodox Jews who were trying to flee Israel.

In 1989 he moved to Raymond and worked for 2 and a half years as a respiratory technician at Willapa Harbor Hopital. He later went to work for Home Safe Oxygen company of Aberdeen. This later became Lincare and he worked for them as a manager in Astoria, Oregon and Aberdeen until his death.

He was a charter member of the Aberdeen Neighborhood Housing Services, a March of Dimes Volunteer, a member of the VFW Post #968 of Raymond, Elks Lodge #1292 of Raymond and the American Legion of Raymond. He also belonged to the United States Coast Guard Alumni Association and the Raymond Booster Club.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son: Coast Guard Lt. jg Jonathon Musman and his wife Dina of Petersburg Alaska; a daughter Beth Musman of Olympia; a stepson Edward Duffy of Stratford; a sister Paulette Shiffman of New Milford; one grandson Edward Duffy III, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was precededin death by his parents and his sister Rose Katz.

Cesidia DiLorenzo

Cesidia DiLorenzo of Olive Street, Danbury, died August 22, 1999 at age 91 at Danbury Hospital. The wife of the late Floyd DiLorenzo, she was born in Bolognano Province, Pescara, Italy on August 25, 1907, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Trabucco) Cerasa.

She immigrated to the United States in 1928, and moved from Norwalk to Danbury in 1964. She was a long time employee of Clover Manufacturing in Norwalk and a seamstress for various local industries.

She is survived by a son, Mario DiLorenzo of Danbury; two daughters, Lucy Monahan of Glendale, Ariz., and Yolanda Chuhta of Fairfax, Va. and nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church Thursday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street Danbury Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 4, and in the evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Rose Mary Eriquezzo

Rose Mary Eriquezzo, age 76, of Danbury, Conn. died on Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at the Glen Hill Harborside Healthcare Center in Danbury. She was the wife of the late Frederick J. Eriquezzo.

Mrs. Eriquezzo was born in Orange, N.J. on March 21, 1923, a daughter of the late Guiseppe and Maria (Perriglo) DePalma. A resident of Danbury since 1948, she was employed in the cafeteria at Pitney Bowes of Danbury for 15 years.

Mrs. Eriquezzo was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury.

She is survived by her four nephews, David DePalma of Ridgefield, Conn.; Gene DePalma of Bridgeport, Conn.; Ralph Tirella of Wilton, Conn. and Christopher Eriquezzo of Merrimack, N.H. Mrs. Eriquezzo is also survived by her close friends, Gail, Chick and Kevin Herrick of Danbury.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, 10 a.m., at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery in Danbury.

There are no calling hours. Friends are asked to please omit flowers.

The Hull Funeral Home, Sixty Division St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Jane Nisch

Mary Jane Nisch, 68, of Vernon, Conn. died Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at her home. She was the wife of Charles E. Nisch.

Born in Newark, N.J., daughter of the late John and Sara (McBride) Ryan, she had lived in New Jersey until moving to Vernon in 1972. Mrs. Nisch had worked for Northeast Utilities prior to her retirement. She volunteered with the V.N.A. Child Wellness Clinic in Vernon and the Woodlake Gift Shop in Tolland. She was a communicant of St. Bernard Church in Rockville.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Nisch leaves her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Paula Nisch Jr. of Carry, N.C., James and Sharon Nisch of Danbury, Conn., Robert and Patrice Nisch of Tannersville, Pa. and Stephen and Kim Nisch of Ellington, Conn.; her sister, Doris Dates of New Jersey; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her lifelong friend, Ida Was of New Jersey. She was predeceased by two brothers.

The funeral procession will leave on Thursday, 9:15 a.m., from the Ladd-Turkington Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, Conn. for a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., in St. Bernard Church, Rockville, Conn. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert H. Meade

Robert H. "Cowboy Bob" Meade, 77, of 58 Westwood Road in Woodbury, Conn. died on Tuesday, August 24, 1999 in his home.

Mr. Meade was born on December 23, 1921 in Danbury, Conn., son of the late Hinman and Bertha (Lee) Meade. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Watertown VFW, Post #1517 and King Solomon's Lodge #7 A.F. & A.M.

He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Carroll of Southbury, Conn.; a brother, Lee Meade of Hayward, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Williams of North Carolina and Marie Barns of Shreveport, La.; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, 10 a.m., at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, Main Street South (Route 6), Woodbury, Conn. Burial will be in the State Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown, Conn.

Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m., at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere.

Jennie Coiro

Jennie (Coyer) Coiro, 87, of Kenosia Trail in Danbury, Conn. died on August 24, 1999 at her home. She was the wife for 62 years of the late Arsenio Coiro.

She was born in Dunmore, Pa. on May 25, 1912, daughter of the late Peter and Rose Coyer. Mrs. Coiro was a member of St. Peter Church in Danbury.

She is survived by three daughters, Angela Daly of Danbury, Conn., Rose Macfie of Tappan, N.Y. and Jean Carleton of Brewster, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Mataloni of Dunmore, Pa.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter Church in Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.

Walter A. Lucas

Walter A. Lucas, 76, of Reynolds Ridge in Bethel, Conn. died on August 24, 1999 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Gloria (Monteferrante) Lucas.

He was born on April 21, 1923 in New York, N.Y., son of the late John and Mary (Buvalick) Lucas. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with Company A, 180th Infantry. Mr. Lucas was employed as maintenance supervisor for State University of New York, retiring at the age of 65.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Daryl Lucas of Freehold, N.J. and Thomas Lucas of Mount Pocono, Pa.; a sister, Violet Lucas of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two grandsons, Brian and Daniel.

Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced.

Cremation Services of Western Connecticut, 55 Main St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

There are no calling hours.

Mary VanLenten

Mary E. Ramsdell VanLenten, 80, of Heritage Village, Southbury, died on Wednesday, August 25, 1999 in her home. She is predeceased by two husbands, Thomas Ramsdell and Henry VanLenten.

Born Mary Elizabeth Zink, July 8, 1919, in San Francisco, Calif., she served as a secretary at the Hawley School in Newtown for 22 years and in the same capacity in the Chaplain's office at Fairfield Hills Hospital, Newtown. She was a member of the Newtown Congregational Church. Prior to coming east to begin her married life with Thomas T. Ramsdell, "Betty" was chosen, by over one million votes to reign as the Queen of the Golden Gates Bridge at its Grand Opening in 1937.

She is survived by a sister, Jacqueline Zink of Danbury, and three children, Joanne Dean of Southbury, Sandra Neary of Bridgewater, and Tom T. Ramsdell III of Newtown. Additionally, she leaves six grandchildren, Kimberly and Kirsten Dean, Kate and Tucker Neary, and Trina and Thomas Ramsdell IV.

A private service will be held for the family. Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, is in charge of arrangements.

William J. Zehrung

William J. Zehrung MD, 80, of 13 Brown Road Kent, the husband of Dorris (Ferguson) has died.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on October 24, 1918, the son of the late George J. and Elizabeth (Gangeez) Zehrung. He was educated at White Plains High School and later Bard College at Columbia University where he completed his pre-medical training.

He served in World War II as a First Lieutenant in the Medical Administration Corps in the South Pacific.

He completed his medical training at New York Medical College in 1950, completing an internship at Bridgeport Hospital. He was on the staff of New Milford Hospital for 25 years, serving as Chief of Staff and the anestesiology department. He served as director of health for the town of New Milford from 1970 to 1989, and was active in many civic organizations. He later became chief of the clinic at Wassaic Development Center in Duchess County.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, William J. Zehrun II, and a daughter in law, Sherry (Sankovich) and 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Kent. Internment will be at Morningside Cemetery in Gaylordsville. Friends will be received at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, NM, from 7 to 9 p.m.
