Mary Butler
Mary Ginty Butler, 75, a former resident of Danbury, died Monday at the home of her daughter, Sharon Majewski, in Windsor Locks.
Mrs. Butler, of 5236 Pineland Ave., Port Orange, Fla., was the wife of the late Leonard Butler.
Born in Danbury, she was a daughter of Thomas and Delia Maher Ginty. She lived in Danbury until moving to Florida 23 years ago.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Butler is survived by four brothers, James, John, Vincent and Bernard Ginty; and a sister, Florence Vulcano, all of Danbury; and two grandsons.
Services will be conducted at the Cardwell Funeral Home in Port Orange, Fla. Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Memory Gardens, Daytona Beach, Fla.

Phyllis M. Bujese
Phyllis Mae Bujese, 64, of 20 Reynolds Ridge, Bethel, died Sunday at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
She was born in Ridgewood, N.J., on July 11, 1932, a daughter of Edward and Anna Peterson Carlough. She was a 1951 graduate of Ridgewood High School.
Mrs. Bujese lived in Park Ridge, N.J., before moving to Bethel one month ago.
Before her retirement in 1988, she had been employed for 26 years as a waitress at Marcy's Restaurant in Park Ridge.
While living in New Jersey, Mrs. Bujese was a volunteer and fund-raiser for the American Heart Association of Greater Bergen County.
Her survivors include a son, Howard R. Bujese of Bethel; a daughter, Debra A. Koller of West Milford, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

Margarethe M. Reck
Margarethe Mueller Reck, 86, an active member of the First Congregational Church of Danbury, died Monday at her home at 3 Wood St., Danbury.
Mrs. Reck was the wife of Joseph Reck.
She was born in Sekitch, Yugoslavia, July 23, 1910, a daughter of Jakob and and Elisabetha Dom Mueller.
Mrs. Reck and her husband came to the United States in 1950 and settled in New Rochelle, N.Y., before moving to Danbury in 1963.
In New York, Mrs. Reck worked as an assistant manager and bookkeeper at the Lyn Stores. After moving to Danbury, she worked for eight years in the bakery department of Shopwell.
She was active with the Danbury Hospital Women's Auxiliary and enjoyed to crochet and garden.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Reck is survived by a sister, Lydi Sepper of Germany; two nieces, one in Germany and one in Switzerland; and a nephew in California.

Private services will take place at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Ferncliff Crematory, Hartsdale, N.Y.

Joan A. Doucette
Joan A. Doucette, 74, a retired registered nurse, died Saturday at the Bethel Healthcare Center.
A resident of Bethel for more than 30 years, Mrs. Doucette was the wife of Joseph F. Doucette.
She was born in Oak Bluffs, Mass., a daughter of Maurice and Teresa Brown. She was a graduate of Martha's Vineyard High School and received her R.N. from Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Mass.
After working in almost every aspect of nursing, Mrs. Doucette retired from Danbury Hospital.
She was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Danbury Post 149.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Doucette is survived by two sons, Keith Doucette of Middletown, Pa., and Kevin Doucette of Bethel; a daughter, Kathleen Doucette, also of Bethel; a sister, Patricia Brown of Edgartown, Mass.; a brother, David Brown of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a granddaughter.

Rowland K. Porter
Rowland K. Porter, 86, a retired system operator for Con Edison in New York City, died Sunday at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Porter, of 29 Great Meadow Road, Danbury, was the husband of the late Hazel Ellingham Porter. He had been a resident of Danbury since 1976.
Born in Great Britain on June 12, 1910, he was a son of Charles and Ethel Parsons Porter.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Porter retired in 1975 with more than 40 years of service at Con Edison.
His survivors include a son, Kenneth W.C. Porter of Northport, N.Y.; a daughter, Virginia G. Ware of Manhasset, N.Y.; a sister, Mildred Graseck of Southington, Conn.; and two grandchildren.
SERVICES: May 4 at 2 p.m., a memorial service at the Union United Methodist Church, East Northport, N.Y.
Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family. Cremation Services of Western Connecticut, 55 Main St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
Rose M. Fumo
Rose M. Fumo, 92, a resident of Redding for the past nine years, died Saturday.
Miss Fumo was born in New York City on Feb. 26, 1905, a daughter of Angelo and Madeline DeMatteau Fumo. She lived in Norwalk, Conn., for many years before moving to Redding.
She had been employed by the former Style Footwear in South Norwalk prior to her retirement in 1965.
Her survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Nadine Wilcox
Nadine Simons Wilcox, 71, a former town clerk for the Town of Southbury, died Sunday at the Waterbury Extended Care Facility in Watertown, Conn.
Mrs. Wilcox, of 505 Ichabod Road, Southbury, was the wife of Vernon Wilcox.
She was born in Waterbury on Dec. 8, 1925, a daughter of Howard and Edna Simons.
Mrs. Wilcox was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Pomperaug Chapter.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Glenn C. Wilcox of West Summer, Maine; and a brother, Robert Simons of Southbury.

William Horrigan Sr.
William Horrigan Sr., 81, a former first selectman of Easton, died Sunday at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury.
Mr. Horrigan, of 131 C Heritage Village, Southbury, was the husband of the late Bertha Eliason Horrigan. He had previously lived in Newtown and Easton.
He was born in Westport on April 13, 1915, a son of William and Georgiana Maddock Horrigan. He was educated in Westport and as a member of his high school tract team he was the holder of several state track records.
During his career, he worked for General Electric in Bridgeport and Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. He retired as a real estate broker.
While living in Easton, he served as first selectman for two terms in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was also a member of the Easton Exchange Club and was active with the Easton Little League.
He was a member of the North Congregational Church in Woodbury. He was also a member of the Masons.
His survivors include four sons, William Horrigan Jr. of Warren, Eugene M. Horrigan of Litchfield, Richard P. Horrigan of Washington, Conn., and Robert K. Horrigan of Roxbury; a daughter, Michele J. Segerson of Roxbury; and 16 grandchildren.

Dorothy N. Thumann
Dorothy N. Thumann, 86, a homemaker, died March 29 at Danbury Hospital.
Mrs. Thumann was the wife of the late Earl L. Thumann and had lived at 45 Highland Ave., Bethel. Born in New York City on Jan. 11, 1911, she was a daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Anderson Wistrand. She spent her early life in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to New Fairfield in the 1920s.
She attended schools in New Fairfield and Bethel before working at the former Mallory Hat Factory in Danbury.
She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and its Women's Society and Sewing Group. She was also an active member of the Grassy Plains Drum Corps Association.
Mrs. Thumann had been active in Bethel Democratic Town Committee activities with her husband who had served as Bethel Town Clerk from 1960 to 1973.
She was a cat fancier and enjoyed making gift tags from greeting cards.
Her survivors include a daughter, Barbara D. Christos of Brookfield; three grandchildren, Laurie Devine of Southbury, Terrie Cooke of Bridgewater, and James Christos of Brookfield; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Michael Garry
Robert Michael Garry, 60, brother of Patricia Perlett of Putnam Lake, N.Y., died Sunday at Community Medical Center, Toms River, N.J.
A previous resident of Bethpage, L.I., N.Y., Mr. Garry had recently moved to Whiting, N.J.
He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., April 27, 1936, a son of Edward G. Garry and Helen Pessel Garry Cook. He was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School.
Mr. Garry was a laborer for General Building Laborers Local #66 in Melville, L.I., N.Y.
He was a member of St. Martin of Tours of Bethpage, and St. James Church of Seaford, N.J. He also attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church in Whiting, N.J.
Besides his sister in Putnam Lake, Mr. Garry is survived by another sister, Gloria McGraw of Whiting, N.J.; two brothers, Edward Garry of Shirley, L.I., N.Y., and Ronald Garry of Seaford, L.I., N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
CALLING HOURS: Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Terrace, Brewster.
SERVICES: Wednesday at 11 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Putnam Lake, N.Y., with Father James Flynn officiating. Burial will take place in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Brewster.
Paul B. Schemm
Paul B. Schemm, 46, a metals engineer and a longtime Ridgefield resident who also lived in Brookfield, died Sunday in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Mr. Schemm was the husband of Karen Roberti Schemm. He lived at 8847 West Caron Drive, Peoria, Ariz.
He had lived in Ridgefield for most of his life, moving to Brookfield in 1977 and to Arizona in 1994.
Mr. Schemm was born in Norwalk on Dec. 19, 1950, a son of Alexander W. Schemm of Blountstown, Fla., and the late Vera C. Schemm. He was a 1968 graduate of Ridgefield High School and attended the University of Oklahoma.
Mr. Schemm formerly worked for Newmont Mining and Alfred H. Knight Labs. For the past 10 years, he worked with Alex Stewart Assayers Inc. of New York.
Besides his wife and father, Mr. Schemm is survived by a son, Jason T. Schemm of Waltham, Mass.; two sisters, Arlene M. Cochran of Los Gatos, Calif., and Catharine A. Kolaski of Ridgefield; two nieces and four nephews; and several cousins.

Sylvan A. Saul
Sylvan A. Saul, 82, the retired owner of the Textile Mart in Danbury and Brookfield, died Tuesday at the Bethel Health Care Center.
Mr. Saul, of 96 Long Meadow Hill Road, Brookfield, was the husband of Rosalie Rappoport Saul.
He was born in Atlanta on Sept. 24, 1914, a son of Louis and Sarah Pearl Saul. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army.
Before his retirement in the 1980s, Mr. Saul had owned Textile Mart for more than 30 years.
He was a founding member of the Danbury Chapter of the NAACP, and was a member of the United Jewish Center of Danbury and the B'nai Brith Lodge of Danbury. He was also an active volunteer with the Jewish Federation of Danbury.
Besides his wife, Mr. Saul is survived by a son, Attorney Lewis Saul of Bethesda, Md.; a daughter, Wendy Newman-Saul of Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Nathan Saul of New Jersey; and six grandchildren.

Benjamin S. Garufi
Benjamin S. Garufi, 76, a retired truck driver, died Tuesday at Bethel Health Care.
He was the husband of the late Nancy A. Piazza Garufi, and had lived at 9 Long Hill Drive, New Fairfield and Sebastian, Fla.
He was born in Bridgeport on July 28, 1920, a son of Guiseppe and Josephine Milamaci Garufi. He attended Bridgeport schools.
Mr. Garufi lived in Danbury for several years, and moved to Florida in 1984. He moved to New Fairfield 5 months ago and made his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Susan Garufi.
Before his retirement in 1981, he was employed as a truck driver for more than 20 years with E&F Construction.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union. In Florida, he was a member of the Polish American Club.
Besides his son, he is survived by a sister, Martha Bruno of Queens, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
