Manuel D. Cunha
Manuel D. Cunha, 67, who had lived in Danbury since 1970, died Thursday at his home.

He was the husband of Maria Fernanda Silva Cunha.

Mr. Cunha was born in Ferreiroz, Do Dao, Portugal, May 11, 1929, a son of Dionizio and Maria de Deus DaCunha DaCunha. He attended school in Portugal.

He came to the United States in 1970 and had been a Danbury resident ever since. He worked as a custodian at Barden Corp. for several years, until he retired in 1994. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Besides his wife, Mr. Cunha is survived by a daughter, Celeste Cunha of Danbury; two brothers, Norberto Cunha of Danbury and Antonio Cunha of Portugal; and five sisters, Rosa Cunha, Celeste Coelho, Celestina Cunha and Estrela Cunha of Danbury and Alzira Cunha of Portugal.

CALLING HOURS: Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.

SERVICES: Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home and to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 11:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.

Marjorie J. Reed
Marjorie June Jackson Reed, 71, a lifelong resident of Danbury, died Thursday at Danbury Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Clason L. Reed.

Mrs. Reed was born in Danbury on June 24, 1925, a daughter of Garfield and Mildred Kearney Jackson. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Mrs. Reed is survived by four sons, Clason Reed Jr. of New Milford, Allen K. Reed and Matthew T. Reed of Danbury and Garfield C. Reed of Massachusetts; three daughters, Carolyn Reed-Kayser, Donna L. Reed and Mildred S. Reed of Danbury; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions in the memory of Marjorie June Jackson Reed may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Connecticut Affiliate Inc., 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450, or a charity of one's choice.

CALLING HOURS: Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main St., Danbury.

SERVICES: Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 10 Cherry St., Danbury, with the Rev. Aaron B. Samuels officiating.

Anthony Paradise Sr.
Anthony J. Paradise Sr., 91, of Brookfield, died Thursday at Candlewood Valley Care Center, New Milford.

He was the husband of the late Helen (Lavorata) Paradise.

Mr. Paradise was born in New York, N.Y., Dec. 27, 1905, a son of Nicholas and Susan Paradise. He lived in Emerson, N.J., for most of his life and attended Emerson schools.

He had been a summer resident of New Fairfield since 1960, moving to Danbury in 1971 and to Brookfield in 1982.

He had been employed as a groundskeeper for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Parkchester, N.Y., for 30 years, until his retirement in 1971.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Brookfield, the Brookfield Senior Center and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Mr. Paradise is survived by a son, Anthony J. Paradise Jr. of Brookfield; a sister, Eleanor Daly of Florida; and two grandchildren.

Elizabeth Burr
Elizabeth Burr, 92, of Seymour, formerly of Danbury, died Wednesday at St. Raphael Hospital, New Haven.

She was the wife of the late Edward H. Burr Sr.

Mrs. Burr was born in Ossining, N.Y., March 31, 1905.

She is survived by two sons, Edward Burr Jr. of Orange and Hank Burr of Ansonia; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Everett Burr.

Dorothea Bechtold
Dorothea Marie Bechtold, 86, a volunteer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, died Sunday at the Somers Manor Nursing Home.

A resident of Carmel, N.Y., Mrs. Bechtold was the wife of the late Karl Bechtold.

She was born in Bad Konigshofen, Germany, on Aug. 23, 1910, a daughter of Anton and Magdalene Koob Friedrich.

After coming to the United States, she lived in Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and the Bronx, N.Y., before moving to Carmel eight years ago.

Mrs. Bechtold was a housewife.

She was a member of the Women of E.L.C.A. of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Her survivors include two daughters, Helen Weger of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Carol Staub of Carmel; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in Germany.

Joseph H. Hart
Joseph H. Hart, 56, a corporate controller for Ethan Allen Inc., died Saturday at his home.

A resident of New Milford for the past seven years, Mr. Hart lived at 6 Overlook Drive. For the previous 18 years, he lived in Carmel, N.Y.

Born in Yonkers, N.Y., on Oct. 18, 1940, he was a son of Henry and Helen Mahoney Hart.

He attended schools in Yonkers and was a graduate of Iona College in Yonkers.

Mr. Hart had been employed by Ethan Allen for 25 years.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Church in New Milford.

Mr. Hart is survived by two daughters, Maura A. Hart of Flowery Branch, Ga., and Cheryl A. Snapperman of Atlanta, Ga.

Reinhold L. Wolter Jr.
Reinhold ``Ray'' L. Wolter Jr., 86, a native of Danbury, died Friday in Florida.

A resident of Florida since 1979, Mr. Wolter lived at 400 E. Croton Way, Howey in the Hills. He was the husband of the late Florence Brosz Wolter.

Before his retirement, Mr. Wolter was the owner of the Middlebury Motors Chrysler Dealership in Middlebury, Vt.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 32 West St., Danbury 06810.

SERVICES: Wednesday at 2 p.m., graveside services in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Kuehnert of the Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating.

William Ringenberg
William G. Ringenberg, 82, a woodworker and retired electrical engineer, died Sunday at his home.

Mr. Ringenberg, of 4 Robin Ridge, New Milford, was the husband of Joann Dodd Volinski Ringenberg. He had been a New Milford resident since 1985. He was born in Waterbury on Dec. 27, 1914, a son of William and Ethel Wood Ringenberg.

Before his retirement, Mr. Ringenberg had been employed for many years as an electrical engineer at the Whitelock Typewriter Co. in New Haven.

Following his retirement, he associated with his daughter, Joy Gaiser of New Milford, in a woodworking business known as Dad and Me, specializing in replicas of the homes and landmarks of New Milford.

Mr. Ringenberg was a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the local chapter of the American Red Cross in New Milford.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church of New Milford, St. Peter's Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M. Masons of New Milford, and the Waterbury Lodge of Oddfellows.

Besides his wife and daughter, Mr. Ringenberg is survived by another daughter, Lea Walsh of Pittsford, N.Y.; a sister, Ruth Hansen of Prospect; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Paul M. Butler Jr.
Paul M. Butler Jr., 65, a retired sales representative, died Monday at his home in Old New Castle, Del.

Mr. Butler was the husband of Katie Jones-Butler.

He was born in Norwalk on Oct. 26, 1931.

Before his retirement in the early 1980s, Mr. Butler was employed for 24 years as a sales representative for the Burndy Corp. of Norwalk.

Until 1994, he sold advertising for Brown & Bigelow in St. Paul, Minn. He also sold advertising for the Hilti Corporation.

Besides his wife, he is survived by seven daughters, the Rev. Linda Butler of Nashua, Iowa, Robin Koehler of Danbury, Sharyn Shindo of Ellington, Conn., Tammy Beatty of Sherman, Bridgid Brown and Faith Butler, both of Redding, and Colleen Hannah of Mooresville, N.C.; three stepsons, Greg and Scott Jones, both of Minnesota, and Tim Jones of Wisconsin; and 11 grandchildren.

Alice J. Stewart
Alice J. Stewart, 82, a retired court clerk, died Monday at her home in Brewster.

Mrs. Stewart was the wife of the late Howard R. Stewart.

She was born in Yonkers, N.Y., on June 24, 1914, a daughter of James P. and Frances Robinson Joice. She was a graduate of Yonkers High School.

A year-round resident of Brewster since 1973, she had spent summers there since the age of 15.

Before her retirement in 1980, Mrs. Stewart had been a court clerk for 20 years for the Westchester County Court House in White Plains, N.Y.

She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Brewster.

Her survivors include a son, James H. Stewart of Ridgefield; a daughter, Joice A. Stewart of Brewster; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Stewart and James Stewart Jr.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Putnam County Humane Society, Old Route 6, Carmel, N.Y. 10512, or to the Brewster Fire Department, North Main Street, Brewster, N.Y. 10509.

Arnold P. Leach
Arnold Patterson Leach, 75, a former longtime Danbury resident, died Sunday at Winter Haven Hospital, Winter Haven, Fla.

A resident of Florida since 1987, Mr. Leach lived at 6203 Knotty Pine Drive S.E. in Winter Haven. He was the husband of Ruth Searles Leach.

Born in Danbury on Jan. 13, 1922, he was a son of Burton and Ethel Patterson Leach. He attended Danbury schools.

Mr. Leach was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Before his retirement, he was employed as an equipment operator for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Mr. Leach was a member of the Central Christian Church of Connecticut and American Legion Post #8.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Carlton and Ronald Leach, both of Woodbury, and Kenneth Leach of South Kent; a daughter, Diane Deysenroth of Danbury; four sisters, Ruth Baldauf of Southbury, Carolyn Marron of New York, Anna Chappius of Hillsdale, N.Y., and Lois Catlin of Arizona; and four grandchildren.

Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.

SERVICES: April 27 at 3 p.m., a memorial service at Central Christian Church, West Street, Danbury, with the Rev. Crawford Harmon officiating.

The Crisp-Coon Funeral Home of Winter Haven, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Crabb
Mildred Crabb, 76, a former dancer with the Rockettes and a retired telephone operator, died Monday at the New Milford Nursing Home.

A New Milford resident since 1970, she formerly lived at Grove Street.

She was born in Stamford on Jan. 31, 1921, a daughter of Nels and Hildegarde Peterson Magnusson. She was a 1939 graduate of Stamford High School.

Mrs. Crabb had been a dancer with the Rockettes and before her retirement was employed by the Southern New England Telephone Company.

She was a skilled artist in many media and was a devoted cat lover. She was a member of the New Milford Senior Center.

Mrs. Crabb is survived by a cousin, Jean Urhan of Houston, Texas.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Hole in the Wall Gang Fund Inc., 555 Long Wharf Drive, New Haven, CT 06510.

There are no calling hours or services. Burial will take place in Fairfield Memorial Park, Stamford, Conn.

Bridget O'Loughlin
Bridget O'Loughlin, 91, a retired registered nurse, died Monday at the Pope John Paul II Health Care Center in Danbury.

A resident of Boston, Mass., for most of her adult life, Mrs. O'Loughlin was born in County Clare, Ireland, on Aug. 22, 1905, a daughter of James and Mary Fitzpatrick McNamara. She was educated in Ireland and came to the United States in 1929.

Mrs. O'Loughlin was the wife of the late Patrick O'Loughlin.

Before her retirement, Mrs. O'Loughlin was a registered nurse at central supply at the Boston City Hospital.

She was a member of St. Brendan's Church in Dorchester, Mass.

Her survivors include a son, John O'Loughlin of Rockville, Md.; a daughter, Margaret Cronin of Brookfield; two brothers, James McNamara of Ireland and Michael McNamara of Watertown, Mass.; two sisters, Jane O'Brien of Arlington, Mass., and Mary Dunbar of Hartford, Conn.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Pope John Paul II Center Building Fund, Lincoln Avenue, Danbury 06810.
