Paul Faynor
Paul Faynor died at the Danbury Hospital on August 25, 1999 at the age of 89. He was the husband of Pauline Layda Faynor and lived at 12 King St., Danbury. Mr. Faynor was born in Newark, NJ Jan. 8, 1910, son on the late Stephen and Anna Layda Faynor. He moved with his family at the age of one and a half to Ufajokov, Slovakia and received his early education there. At the age of 17, he returned to the United States and to Danbury and continued his education. Mr. Faynor was an instrument model maker, making prototype instruments for research purposes. He was last employed for Cognitrocics in Danbury (formerly of Stamford CT) from 1959 to 1990 when he retired. He was a member of St. Paul Church and the Sokol Lodge #30, The King St. Volunteer Fire Dept., the International Poultry and Pigeon Association and the Wooster Gun Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Paul M. Faynor of Dana Point, Calif., his daughters Betty Ann Shepherd of Northfield, Vt., and Janet Robitaille of Northfield, Vt. Also six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and 4 step-grandchildren, his brother Milan Fajnor of Slovakia and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Church, Spring Street, Danbury on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor John Adams officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial, 247 White Street, Danbury on Friday from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to St. Paul Church in his memory.
Catherine Lobozzo
The death of Catherine Lobozzo, 97, formerly of 29 Hale Street, Stamford, occurred at Wilton Meadows, Wilton, Monday evening. She was the wife of the late Vincenzo Lobozzo.
She was born in Italy, daughter of the late Pasquale and Angelina Spinosa, and came to this country at the age of 5 and to Stamford in 1927.
Mrs. Lobozzo had been employed as a Seamstress at the Nora Zandre Dress Shop in Stamford.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Stamford and the Stamford Senior Citizens.
Surviving are a daughter, Gloria Densky of Brookfield and a son, James Lobozzo of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; a brother, Anthony Spinosa of New Canaan; 2 sisters, Stella Touzzolo of Norwalk and Julia Christiano of New Canaan; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Nick Spinosa; 3 sisters, Caroline Ruta, Rose Ducale and Ginger Zullo, also a grandson, Ronald Densky.
Funeral services will be held from the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield Saturday morning at 11:30 to St. Joseph's Church at noon for a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will be in Prince of Peace Cemetery, Brookfield.
Friends may call at the Brookfield Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00 to 9:00.
Joseph E. Tangredi Jr.
Joseph E. Tangredi Jr., age 50, of Southport, beloved husband of Victoria Ferreri Tangredi, died Tuesday, November 30, 1999 in St. Vincent's Medical Center.
Born in Danbury, Mr. Tangredi was a graduate of Danbury High School, a Sergeant in the National Guard and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Bridgeport. He was Comptroller for the Diocese of Bridgeport for the past twenty-eight years. Mr. Tangredi was a member of the Diocesan Lay Pension Board, the Diocesan Medical Advisory Board, the National Diocesan Fiscal Management Conference and a member of the board of directors of the Bridgeport Neighborhood Fund. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and a member of the Fairfield Elks Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving son, Michael-James Tangredi of Southport and his father, Joseph E. Tangredi Sr. of Danbury. He was predeceased by his mother, Anna Valluzzo Tangredi.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Fairfield with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Friends may pay their respects to his family on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd., Fairfield.
Jean Sundlof
Jean Sundlof, 66, a resident of West Redding for forty years, died on Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at the Danbury Hospital as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident in Ridgefield earlier that day. She was the wife of the late Carl L. Sundlof, to whom she had been married thirty-eight years until his death in 1994.
Mrs. Sundlof was born in Norwalk on August 27, 1933, a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Mulholland Kestenbaum. She had been a waitress at the King Neptune Restaurant in Ridgefield for the past thirty-six years.
Mrs. Sundlof was a very active member at the Georgetown United Methodist Church. At the church, she was former chairperson of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee; former Financial Secretary; former Sunday school teacher and currently involved with the Children's Discipleship.
She was a member of the League of Women's Voters in Redding and was a former member of the West Redding and Georgetown Volunteer Fire Departments' Ladies Auxiliaries. Mrs. Sundlof was also an avid gardener.
Mrs. Sundlof was a loving mother and grandmother and will be forever in the heart of her daughter, Pamela Sundlof Caraluzzi and husband Jim of Redding; her son, Gary A. Sundlof and wife Paula of Patterson, N.Y.; her two sisters, Mary Francavilla of Bethel and Helen Meeske of Waterbury; her two grandchildren, Austin and Gina Sundlof; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 1999 at 11:30 a.m. in the Georgetown United Methodist Church. The Rev. Chervell Philip, Pastor, will officiate. The interment will follow in the family plot in Branchville Cemetery, Ridgefield.

Leanna M. Dawson
Leanna M. Dawson, 19, died November 29, 1999 in Tampa, Florida following a tragic car accident. She was the daughter of Jean M. Schmuecker of Bethel and the sister of Carly L. Dawson also of Bethel.
Leanna was born November 17, 1980 in Danbury and resided in both Connecticut and New Jersey.
Leanna received her early education in Connecticut and New Jersey and completed her high school education at Poggio Imperiale in Florence, Italy. She attended Western Connecticut State University in Danbury for her first year of college and transferred to the University of South Florida in Tampa in September of this year. In both schools she studied Communications and English and was known as "DJ Stellah" on the radio shows that she hosted on WXCI at Westconn and WBUL at the University of South Florida. She was also a gifted artist, writer and dramatist. Her sense of humor and enthusiasm for life knew no bounds.
Leanna is also survived by her father, David Dawson; stepmother, Petrina and brothers, George and Jamie, all of Mountain Lakes, N.J.; her maternal grandmother, Rayanna Schmuecker of Bethel; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and her special friend, Tom Feola of Trumbull. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 4th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine's Church, Pocono Road and the Boulevard, Mountain Lakes, N.J. with burial to follow. Friends and family may call at the Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street, Boonton, N.J. on Friday, December 3rd between 7 and 9 p.m.

Elaine M.Friedmann
Elaine M. Friedmann, of Brookfield, died Monday, November 22, 1999 in Harborside Glen Hill Nursing Home. She was 71.
Born November 21, 1928 in Warwick, N.Y., she was the widow of the late Walter Friedmann.
Survivors include one son, Steven M. Friedmann of Danbury; two daughters, Emily S. Friedmann of Brookfield and Sandra M. Baum of Woodbridge, N.J.; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Kathleen E. Elliott
Kathleen E. Elliott, age 70, of Bethel, died on Tuesday morning at the Danbury Hospital after a long battle with breast cancer.
Mrs. Elliott was born in New York, New York, July 20, 1929, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Bolger) Carey. She was raised in New York and graduated from schools there.
A resident of Bethel since 1962, Mrs. Elliott was most recently employed as a data entry operator for Davis and Geck in Danbury until her retirement three years ago.
She was a parishioner of the Church of St. Mary, Bethel.
Mrs. Elliott is survived by one daughter, Maureen Allen and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Lindsey, all of Bethel. Mrs. Elliott was predeceased by her sister, Doris Balem.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 3rd at the Church of St. Mary, Bethel at 10 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

Natalie E. Gledhill
Natalie E. Gledhill died November 30, 1999 at the Bethel Health Care Center at the age of 90. She was the wife of the late Alfred R. Gledhill and formerly lived at 38 Oak Ridge Gate in Danbury from the early 1950's until her retirement to Bethel in 1995.
Mrs. Gledhill was born in Presque Isle, Maine December 15, 1908, daughter of the late James S. and Faye Cox Neill and received her early education there. She graduated from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y.
During the World War II years she served in the American National Red Cross Emergency Services and was Chairperson of the Red Cross Canteen for Emergency Food Service in Queens, New York.
After settling in Danbury, Mrs. Gledhill was a member of St. James Church and its Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Danbury Garden Club since 1961 and served as Artistic Design Chairman, Horticulture Chairman, Recording and Correspondence Secretary and the Advisory Committee from 1975 to 1986. Natalie was considered to be the Power behind the Throne for flower shows and program planning and was often seen working, digging and organizing to make the Danbury Garden Club the top notch club it is. She was an Honorary Life Member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut. She also served over 2000 hours as Volunteer at Danbury Hospital in the Admitting Office from 1960 to 1981.
Mrs. Gledhill is survived by her niece and husband, Shirley and Paul Kormondy of Cherry Hill, N.J. and their three daughters, Diane, Beth and Janet; a sister-in-law, Iris Neill of Barton on Trent, England and a host of dear and loving friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by her brother, Stanley Neill. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
The Funeral Office will be celebrated with Holy Communion at the St. James Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Carolyn Dukenski officiating and Rev. Peter Faass assisting.
Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at the Coburn Lounge Library of St. James Church. Calling hours will be at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Yazah Douskey
Yazah Douskey of Papermill Road, New Milford, died on August 29, 1999. Born in New Milford in 1910 to Ignace and Marianna Rembecka Jakbowski, she grew up on their family farm in Sherman with her 4 sisters and brothers. She graduated from the one-room schoolhouse in the north of Sherman and from New Milford High School, class of 1927. Her essay entitled, "America, the Land of Opportunity," was fondly recalled by many of her contemporaries over the years.
Married for 61 years to the late Paul Douskey, she served the town and state in many capacities. She was president of the New Milford PTA in 1949 and 1950, officer of the state PTA in 1952 and its vice president in 1955. She was chairman of the New Milford Board of Education from 1953 to 1957. From 1957 to 1959 she was chairman of the school building committee, overseeing the Pettibone School addition, the construction of the new high school on Sunny Valley Road and the renovation of the East Street School. In 1960 she was the first woman to be nominated for a seat on the New Milford Board on Selectman in the town's history. In 1961 she served as chairman of service and education, New Milford area, for the Connecticut Chapter of the American Cancer Society. In 1974 she served on the town's Zoning Commission.
For many years she served as judge at the Danbury, Goshen, Bethlehem and Bridgewater fairs in areas of needle work, dressmaking, canning and baking. She received many first place awards in these areas in her own right. In all her endeavors, she was known for her honesty and integrity.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosalie Baxter of Sherman, her son, Lt. Colonel Paul Douskey, USAF, ret. of Bellevue, Neb., two sisters, Louise Person of Shelton, Marianne Charabowski of Stratford, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford on Wednesday, Sept. 1, preceded by calling hours between 10 and 11 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Polish National Cemetery, New Milford. Katie Hotz
Katie Hotz, age 93, wife of the late Ludwig Hotz of Nunnawauk Meadows, Newtown, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, at her home.
She was born in Sandhausen, Germany, June 7, 1906, a daughter of the late Johann and Anna (Kaufman) Bosch.
Mrs. Hotz came to the United States in 1928. She was a full-time resident of Newtown since 1948 and was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church.
She is survived by her two grandchildren, Rachel Shanok and John Goosman, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Anita Goosman.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 2, 1999, at 11 a.m. from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown, and at 11:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Newtown Village Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m.

David Alan Reeves
David Alan Reeves, 57, of Seahawk Court, Milford, died August 19 in Branford, CT.
Mr. Reeves was a restaurant manager and consultant for the former Higgins Restaurant in Rowayton. He is survived by his brother Donald Reeves of Pawling, N.Y., and sister Charlane Powell of Mass.
Calling hours are Thursday, September 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in White Plains, N.Y. Fannie Smith
Fannie Smith died Aug. 30, 1999, in Ray Ann Nursing Home in Westlake, Ohio. She was the wife of the late James R. Smith and had lived at 19 Olive St. in Danbury before making her home with her daughter in Ohio.
Mrs. Smith was born in Newark, N.J., Aug. 15, 1905, daughter of the late Edgar and Aimee Lawrence Platt. Mrs. Smith retired from Barden Corp. in 1971. She worked in food service at Barden's.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Central Christian Church in Danbury and Christian Heritage Assembly of God in Ohio.
She is survived by her daughter, Gertrude A. Bunney of Avon, Ohio, and her son, Robert Smith of Danbury, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and her son, Gerald Smith.
Funeral service will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with her son-in-law, Pastor John M. Bunney, officiating.
Burial will be in Lands End Cemetery in Newtown. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
