Maria E. Silva
Maria E. Cardoso Silva, 81, a retired assembler, died Tuesday at Danbury Hospital.
Mrs. Silva was the wife of Joao Silva. She lived in Danbury at 2 Lily Drive and had formerly lived on Moss Avenue.
She was born in Melo, Portugal, on Oct. 20, 1916, a daughter of Joao and Maria Abreu Cardoso.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Silva was employed as an assembler for the former American Radionic Company.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Silva is survived by two daughters, Filomena Tomas and Maria C. Silva, both of Danbury; a sister, Elisa Cardoso of Portugal; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Arminio Silva, in 1989.

SERVICES: Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Green Funeral Home; followed at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
Katrina Cioban
There will be a memorial Mass for Katrina Cioban on Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, New Milford.
Katrina, age 16, died Dec. 7 as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Dec. 5. She lived in New Milford and was the daughter of James and Lisa Cioban.
John Nagel
John Nagel, 87, a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service, died Tuesday at the Filosa Convalescent Center.
A resident of New Fairfield for more than 20 years, he previously lived at 52 Lavelle Avenue. Mr. Nagel was the husband of the late Rose Morrone Nagel.
He was born in New York City on Jan. 30, 1910, a son of John and Margaret Nagel.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Nagel was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield.
His survivors include a brother, Robert of Long Island; a sister-in-law, Josephine Nole of New Rochelle, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

George Walker Jr.
George Rivers Pickney Walker Jr., 85, a retired product manager, died Tuesday at the Glen Hill Convalescent Center in Danbury.
Mr. Walker lived at Glen Crest, Glen Hill Road, Danbury. He was the husband of Suzanne St. Clair Walker. He lived in Westport for 43 years before moving to Danbury.
He was born in Flushing, N.Y., on Feb. 26, 1912, a son of George Rivers Pickney Walker Sr. and Mary Persall Wright Walker.
Mr. Walker attended New York University.
Before his retirement, he was product manager for 30 years for the Johns Manville Corp. in New York City.
While living in Westport, Mr. Walker was a member of the Green Farms Church.
Besides his wife, Mr. Walker is survived by a son, George P. Walker III of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Mary Bess Dacey of Fairfield; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.

Kevin John Clark
Kevin John Clark, 50, the owner of the Clark Painting and Wallpaper Company in Bristol and a former New Milford resident, died Tuesday at the UConn Health Center in Farmington.
Mr. Clark lived at 42 Irving St., Bristol.
Born in Norwalk on March 7, 1947, he was a son of John L. and Beatrice Bona Clark.
He spent his early life in New Milford and was a graduate of New Milford High School.
Mr. Clark is survived by two brothers, Dennis M. Clark of Pine Plains, N.Y., and Thomas B. Clark of Danbury; a sister, Patricia A. Beatty of New Milford; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Laura Roy of Bristol.

William G. Coghlan
William G. Coghlan, 76, a former machine designer and retired postal worker, died Sunday at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Coghlan, of 21 Aspen Mill Road, Ridgefield, was the husband of Rosie Macarella Coghlan.
He was born in Stamford on July 22, 1921, a son of William G. Sr. and Gladys Kane Coghlan. He moved from Stamford to Ridgefield in 1967.
After receiving his degree from Bridgeport Engineering, he worked in machine design for Perkin-Elmer in Wilton, Remington-Rand in Norwalk and Braun Engineering in Stamford. He was then employed as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service until his 1985 retirement.
Following his retirement, Mr. Coghlan worked on a part-time basis at the Congregation of Notre Dame in Ridgefield.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Ridgefield.
Besides his wife, Mr. Coghlan is survived by a son, William S. Coghlan of New Fairfield; and a granddaughter, Erin Rose Coghlan, also of New Fairfield.

Anna T. Kurkul
Anna T. Kurkul, 77, a Danbury native and retired assembler, died Sunday at Danbury Hospital.
Mrs. Kurkul, of 20 Hakim St., Danbury, was the wife of Wesley Kurkul.
She was born in Danbury on Feb. 22, 1920, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Smierciak Patren. She was educated in Danbury schools.
Before her retirement at age 62, Mrs. Kurkul was employed as an assembler for Davis & Geck and American Cyanamid for 24 years.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Danbury.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Kurkul is survived by a son, Gary M. Kurkul of New Fairfield; a daughter, Donna Fairchild, also of New Fairfield; two brothers, Edward of Bridgeport and Matthew of Danbury; a sister, Mildred Chaney of North Carolina; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Jean Ann Hartmayer
Jean Ann Hartmayer, 72, mother of Peter Hartmayer of Southbury, died Sunday at Montowese Health Care Center in North Haven.
Mrs. Hartmayer, of 19 Kickapoo Run, Charlestown, R.I., was the wife of the late Edward G. Hartmayer.
She was born in Westport, a daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Neary Brown.
Mrs. Hartmayer was a member of St. Mary's Church, Carolina, R.I.
Besides her son in Southbury, her survivors include another three sons, Thomas Hartmayer of Willimantic, Major Michael Hartmayer of Fort Hood, Texas, and John Hartmayer of New York City, N.Y.; two daughters, Elizabeth Hartmayer of New Haven and Jan Abate of Connecticut; and four grandchildren.

Sylvia Valluzzo
Sylvia Valluzzo, 84, a retired secretary, died Monday at the Glen Hill Convalescent Center, Danbury.
A resident of Brookfield for the past 30 years, Mrs. Valluzzo lived at Tower Road. She was the wife of Carlo A. Valluzzo.
She was born in Bethel on Oct. 12, 1913, a daughter of John and Anna Orzech Silver. She moved to Danbury as a young girl and attended Bethel and Danbury schools.
A graduate of the Crandall Secretarial School, she was a secretary for the former Henry Dick and Son Furniture Co. She earlier worked for Burns Drug Store.
Mrs. Valluzzo was a member of the Pocono Grange of Brookfield.
Besides her husband of 46 years, she is survived by a brother, Walter Silva of Bethel; a sister, Frances Murtha of Danbury; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Contributions in Mrs. Valluzzo's memory may be made to one's favorite charity.
Private funeral services took place at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield at the convenience of the family.
John E. Kane Sr.
John E. Kane Sr., a retired plant engineer and former Danbury resident, died Monday at Bridgeport Hospital.
Mr. Kane, of 242 Running Brook Lane, Stratford, Conn., was the husband of Catherine Mahoney Lane.
He was born in Danbury, a son of Daniel and Mary Ratchford Kane. He was a graduate of Danbury schools and served with the Connecticut National Guard.
Mr. Kane moved to Stratford from Danbury in 1982.
Before his retirement, he worked for many years as a plant engineer at the Harvey Hubbell Company of Newtown.
Besides his wife, his survivors include two sons, John E. Kane II of Vienna, Va., and Mark Kane of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Alice K. Rice of Fairfield and Susan Chicotka of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister, Anna McInerney of Danbury; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
