Anna T. Kurkul
Anna T. Kurkul, 77, a Danbury native and retired assembler, died Sunday at Danbury Hospital.
Mrs. Kurkul, of 20 Hakim St., Danbury, was the wife of Wesley Kurkul.
She was born in Danbury on Feb. 22, 1920, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Smierciak Patren. She was educated in Danbury schools.
Before her retirement at age 62, Mrs. Kurkul was employed as an assembler for Davis & Geck and American Cyanamid for 24 years.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Danbury.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Kurkul is survived by a son, Gary M. Kurkul of New Fairfield; a daughter, Donna Fairchild, also of New Fairfield; two brothers, Edward of Bridgeport and Matthew of Danbury; a sister, Mildred Chaney of North Carolina; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
There are no calling hours.
Private funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
Jean Ann Hartmayer
Jean Ann Hartmayer, 72, mother of Peter Hartmayer of Southbury, died Sunday at Montowese Health Care Center in North Haven.
Mrs. Hartmayer, of 19 Kickapoo Run, Charlestown, R.I., was the wife of the late Edward G. Hartmayer.
She was born in Westport, a daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Neary Brown.
Mrs. Hartmayer was a member of St. Mary's Church, Carolina, R.I.
Besides her son in Southbury, her survivors include another three sons, Thomas Hartmayer of Willimantic, Major Michael Hartmayer of Fort Hood, Texas, and John Hartmayer of New York City, N.Y.; two daughters, Elizabeth Hartmayer of New Haven and Jan Abate of Connecticut; and four grandchildren.

Sylvia Valluzzo
Sylvia Valluzzo, 84, a retired secretary, died Monday at the Glen Hill Convalescent Center, Danbury.
A resident of Brookfield for the past 30 years, Mrs. Valluzzo lived at Tower Road. She was the wife of Carlo A. Valluzzo.
She was born in Bethel on Oct. 12, 1913, a daughter of John and Anna Orzech Silver. She moved to Danbury as a young girl and attended Bethel and Danbury schools.
A graduate of the Crandall Secretarial School, she was a secretary for the former Henry Dick and Son Furniture Co. She earlier worked for Burns Drug Store.
Mrs. Valluzzo was a member of the Pocono Grange of Brookfield.
Besides her husband of 46 years, she is survived by a brother, Walter Silva of Bethel; a sister, Frances Murtha of Danbury; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Contributions in Mrs. Valluzzo's memory may be made to one's favorite charity.
Private funeral services took place at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield at the convenience of the family.
John E. Kane Sr.
John E. Kane Sr., a retired plant engineer and former Danbury resident, died Monday at Bridgeport Hospital.
Mr. Kane, of 242 Running Brook Lane, Stratford, Conn., was the husband of Catherine Mahoney Lane.
He was born in Danbury, a son of Daniel and Mary Ratchford Kane. He was a graduate of Danbury schools and served with the Connecticut National Guard.
Mr. Kane moved to Stratford from Danbury in 1982.
Before his retirement, he worked for many years as a plant engineer at the Harvey Hubbell Company of Newtown.
Besides his wife, his survivors include two sons, John E. Kane II of Vienna, Va., and Mark Kane of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Alice K. Rice of Fairfield and Susan Chicotka of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister, Anna McInerney of Danbury; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Thursday at 10:30 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Ridgebury. Entombment will take place in St. Peter's Mausoleum, Danbury.

Joseph C. Hanlon
Joseph C. Hanlon, 83, a retired master plumber, electrician and carpenter, died Saturday at Ashlar of Newtown.
Mr. Hanlon, of 35 Philo Curtis Road, Sandy Hook, was the husband of Leona Young Hanlon.
A lifelong resident of Sandy Hook, he was born Oct. 30, 1914, a son of William and Alice Hitt Hanlon.
Mr. Hanlon was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
During his career, Mr. Hanlon worked for many years for the Curtis Packaging Co. of Sandy Hook. He was then employed by builders Martin Sealander and Roland Pratt. Before his 1980 retirement, he worked for the State of Connecticut at Fairfield Hills Hospital.
He was a 51-year member of Hiram Lodge #18 A.F.&A.M. and was a member of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post 308.
Besides his wife, Mr. Hanlon is survived by a son, Thomas Hanlon of Danbury; four daughters, Alice Parlangeli of Hayward, Calif., and Judy Hanlon, Joan Hanlon and Barbara Bloom, all of Sandy Hook; a sister, Catherine Knapp of Sandy Hook; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Jean A. Twomey
Jean A. Laux Twomey, 66, a volunteer at the Gift Shop at Waterbury Hospital for many years, died Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital.
Mrs. Twomey, of 423 Dublin Road, Southbury, was the wife of Jeremiah Twomey.
She was born in Sayre, Pa., Feb. 15, 1931, a daughter of Dr. Leo J. and Catherine Hartley Laux.
Mrs. Twomey was a member of the Southbury Columbiettes and was a member of St. Teresa's Church in Woodbury.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother, John P. Laux of Warren, Mich.

Lillian V. Kay
Lillian V. Kay, 101, a resident of Brewster since 1974, died Sunday at Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel, N.Y.
Mrs. Kay lived at Meadow Motor Court, Route 6, Brewster. She was the wife of the late Elkan V. Kay.
She was born in Baltimore, Md., Sept. 27, 1896, a daughter of Louis and Blanche Spranklin Golderman. She was educated in Baltimore schools.
Mrs. Kay lived most of her life in New York, N.Y.
She was a housewife.
Her survivors include a daughter, Saundra Reynolds of Putnam Lake, Brewster; two granddaughters, Jodykay Pollio and Romikay Reynolds; a niece; a nephew; a grandniece and several grandnephews. She was predeceased by her son, Charles Kay, in 1995.

George Hoti
George (Gjok) Hoti, 54, owner of George's Pizza and Restaurant in Newtown, died Saturday at his home.
Mr. Hoti, of 10 King St., Newtown, was the husband of Cely Bezerra Hoti.
He was born in Albania, Aug. 8, 1943, a son of Nicholas and Luza Hoti.
After moving to the United States in 1962, he settled in Stamford, where he managed several restaurants.
Mr. Hoti moved to Newtown in 1984 and opened his restaurant in 1986.
He was a member of St. Rose Church.
Besides his wife, Mr. Hoti is survived by a son, Gjon Hoti of Newtown; a daughter, Lena Hoti, also of Newtown; a stepson, Gilbert Soto of Middletown, Conn.; a stepdaughter, Nereida Sinopoli of New York City; a sister, Lisa Dushkv of Stamford; and several nieces and nephews.

James L. Jones
Members of Padanaram Hose Co. are asked to gather tonight to pay their respects to the late James L. Jones. Members should meet at 6:30 p.m. outside the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
Mr. Jones died Saturday.
William Dillon
William Robert Dillon, 53, a retired firefighter, died Saturday at his home in Brewster.
Mr. Dillon was the husband of Emily O'Grady Dillon.
He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on March 31, 1944, a son of Margaret Alice O'Malley Dillon of Newtown and the late Thomas David Dillon. He was a 1963 graduate of Power Memorial Academy in Manhattan.
Mr. Dillon served one year in the National Guard during the Vietnam War.
Before his retirement in 1995, he was a fire fighter for 26 years with the New York City Fire Department in the Hunts Point section of South Bronx.
A resident of Brewster for the past 24 years, Mr. Dillon was a member of the Brewster Elks Lodge #2101. He was also a member of St. John's Church in Pawling.
Besides his wife and mother, his survivors include a son, Matthew Thomas Dillon of Laurel, Md.; a daughter, Mary Theresa Dillon of Boulder, Colo.; a brother, Thomas Dillon of Brewster; and a sister, Mary Theresa Dillon of Northport, L.I., N.Y.
Calling hours will take place at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Terrace, Brewster and services will be at St. John's Church, Pawling at dates and times to be announced.
Barry Alan Lieberman
Barry Alan Lieberman, 47, a senior accountant, died Saturday at the Westchester County Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y.
Mr. Lieberman, of Fieldstone Pond, Brewster, was the husband of Ellen Bader Lieberman.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Jan. 10, 1950, he was a son of Hyman and Edith Grundfast Lieberman. He was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, N.Y. He also graduated from Queens College.
Before moving to Brewster, he lived in Peekskill, N.Y.
Mr. Lieberman was senior accountant for the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal in Manhattan, N.Y., where he had been employed since 1972.
He was a member of Marmonidies-Marshall Masonic Lodge #739 in Manhattan. He was also a member of Temple Beth Elohim in Brewster.
Besides his wife, Mr. Lieberman is survived by two sons, Joseph Howard Lieberman and Edward David Lieberman, both of Brewster.
