John Mutis
John A. Mutis of Kent Road, New Milford, died Tuesday at his home. He was 84.
Mr. Mutis was the husband of Ottilia ``Chic'' Surovy Mutis.
He was born in Bethlehem, Pa., a son of Matthew and Margaret Mutis. Reared and educated in Bethlehem, he moved to Danbury in 1944, and then to New Milford, where he has lived the past 37 years.
He was the former owner the Wonder Bar Grill and the West Street Shell Oil Co., both in Danbury. Since 1960, he owned the Blue Coach Motel in New Milford, where he was still active. He also worked as driver for the B.J. Dolan Co. of Bethel.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Danbury.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Joan Underwood of Danbury; two sisters, Margaret Jamicky of Bethlehem, Pa., and Eleanor Gushion of Hillertown, Pa.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Strasburger
Dorothy S. Strasburger of Mount Pleasant Road, Newtown, died Monday at her home. She was 82.
Mrs. Strasburger was the wife of veterinarian Dr. Russell F. Strasburger.
She was born in Bridgeport, July 2, 1915, a daughter of Walter and Bertha Schneider. She graduated from Bridgeport Central High School in 1932 and from Wellesley College in 1936. She taught Latin and French in the school systems of Danbury and Newtown before retiring 20 years ago. She was a member of the Connecticut Retired Teachers Association.
After her retirement she was active with the Newtown Visiting Nurse Association, Newtown Meals on Wheels and the Newtown Scholarship Association, and she served on the board of directors of the Newtown Meeting House.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Russell F. Strasburger of Newtown; a daughter, Dorothy Holmes of Orchard Park, N.Y.; a sister, Marion Rich of Medford, N.J.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Joseph Hall
Joseph Hall, formerly of 161 High Ridge Road, Ridgefield, died Monday at Ashlar of Newtown. He was 94.
Mr. Hall was the husband of the late Duncena MacKenzie Hall.
He was born in Ireland, Dec. 5, 1903. He was a nurseryman for Alpost and Woodcock Landscaping and for the town of Ridgefield. He was a member of Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church and Jerusalem Lodge No. 49, A.F. & A.M. of Ridgefield. At Ashlar, he was a member of the Bell Choir and past president of the resident's council.
He is survived by a son, William Hall of Winter Park, Fla.
SERVICES: A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Fairlawn Cemetery, Ridgefield. The Rev. R. Randy Day will officiate. A Masonic service will follow.
Genevieve Pappajohn
Genevieve K. Pappajohn, a longtime Danbury resident, died Tuesday in Danbury. She was 90.
Mrs. Pappajohn was the wife of the late Phillip Pappajohn.
She was born in Albania, June 22, 1907. She was an active in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Danbury.
Survivors include a son, Augustus ``Gus'' Pappajohn, 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Steven, and a daughter, Evelyn Michaels.

Scott Newman
Airman Apprentice Scott Alan Newman, U.S. Navy, of Norfolk, Va., the husband of Danbury native India (Franks) Newman, died Friday. He was 24.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his father, mother, a brother, a sister, a grandmother, a grandfather, 14 aunts and uncles and 22 cousins.

Fones Horton
Fones Dutcher Horton, formerly of Route 7, New Milford, died Monday at Candlewood Valley Care Center, New Milford. He was 74.
Mr. Horton was born in Pound Ridge, N.Y., Sept. 11, 1923, a son of the late Earl and Dorothy Dutcher Horton. He was an Army veteran of World War II who served in the European Theater of War and participated in the Battle for the Rhineland.
He moved to New Milford from Northampton, Mass., in 1967.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Florence H. Costello
Florence H. Johnson Costello, 80, a volunteer active with several Southbury community groups, died Sunday at Mediplex of Southbury.
Mrs. Costello, of 336 Fish Rock Road, Southbury, was the wife of the late Joseph Costello.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 8, 1917, a daughter of Sven and Hedwig Andersson Johnson.
A resident of Southbury for the past 30 years, Mrs. Costello was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Columbietts, the Democratic Women's Club of Southbury and the Women's Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She volunteered for the Extend-A-Hand Committee at Sacred Heart Church, the Southbury Training School Thrift Shop and the Southbury Emergency Food Aid.
Mrs. Costello is survived by a son, Robert Costello of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Marion Prokop of Washington, Conn., a sister, Marion Mills of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

Mary Jane Leaden
Mary Jane Leaden, 69, a secretary in the Religious Education office at St. Mary Church in Bethel for many years, died Sunday at her home.
Mrs. Leaden, of 2 Wine Sap Run, Bethel, was the wife of John V. Leaden.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 27, 1928, a daughter of John and Genevieve Langstaff Lang. She was a graduate of Bishop McDonald High School in Brooklyn.
A resident of Bethel for 20 years, Mrs. Leaden previously lived in Rockville Centre and Lynbrooke, N.Y.
She was a member of St. Mary Church and also served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Leaden is survived by 13 children, Christine O'Grady of Commack, N.Y., Eileen Luchsinger of Bethel, Stephen Leaden of East Windsor, N.Y., Brian Lynch of Vernon, Philip Leaden of Oceanside, N.Y., Kevin Lynch of East Meadow, N.Y., Christopher Leaden of Aquaboque, N.Y., Patricia Lynch of Bethel, Janet Samuels of Oceanside, N.Y., James Leaden of New Milford, Richard Leaden of Danbury, Regina Lones of Newtown, and John F. Leaden of Bethel; 24 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Anne S. Maas
Anne S. Maas, 77, a resident of Redding for the past 12 years, died Thursday at her home.
Mrs. Maas was the wife of the late William A. Maas.
She was born in South Fulton, Tenn., on Oct. 14, 1920, a daughter of John and Bertha Crafton Swiggart.
A former longtime resident of New Canaan, Conn., she was a member of the Hannah Benedict Carter Chapter of the D.A.R.
Mrs. Maas and her husband were active members of the Congregational Church in New Canaan and donated a great deal of time to the maintenance and restoration of furniture within the church.
After moving to Redding, she became a member of the First Church of Christ Congregational in Redding Center.
Her survivors include a son, John F. Maas of Redding; a daughter, Suzanne Molineaux of Redding; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Primo J. Baldaserini
Primo J. Baldaserini, 84, a retired carpenter and nurseryman, died Saturday at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Baldaserini, of 13 Hillsdale Ave., Ridgefield, was the husband of Elina Cappelloni Baldaserini.
He was born in Ridgefield on June 17, 1913, a son of Joseph and Anna Genga Baldaserini. He was educated in Ridgefield schools.
Before his retirement, Mr. Baldaserini worked as a carpenter and nurseryman on private estates. He also worked for the former Outpost Nursery in Ridgefield.
While employed by the Outpost Nursery, he worked on the landscaping and planting of the grounds for the 1939 World's Fair in New York.
In Ridgefield, Mr. Baldaserini was a member of the Marquette Council #245 Knights of Columbus, the Italian American Mutual Aid Society, and St. Mary's Church.
Besides his wife of 57 years, Mr. Baldaserini is survived by a son, Jack Baldaserini of Ridgefield; a daughter, Dawn Besse, also of Ridgefield; two brothers, Gino Baldaserini of Ridgefield and Paul Baker of Southbury; a sister, Gina Rossini of Brookfield; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

John J. Boland
John ``Jack'' J. Boland, 83, a retired printed, died Thursday at Glen Hill Convalescent Center in Danbury.
Mr. Boland, of 1 Maple Lane, Danbury, was the husband of the late Christine Prue Boland and the late Audrey Joan Agar Boland.
Born in Danbury, Jan. 11, 1914, he was a son of Frederick M. and Melvina Jackson Boland, and was a lifelong Danbury resident.
During World War II Mr. Boland served in the U.S. Army in Africa and Italy.
Until his retirement, he had been employed as a printer for more than 30 years at United Reproductions in Danbury.
He was a member of the Candlewood Valley Country Club in New Milford and, for over 50 years, of Citizens Hose #6 Volunteer Fire Company in Danbury. He also was a life member of the Blinded Veterans Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Christine Papadopoulos of Norwalk; a sister Lucy Boland of Danbury; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Gary J. Kominski
Gary J. Kominski, 40, a financial manager, died on Thursday in New York City.
Mr. Kominski, a three-year resident of Redding, was the husband of Susan Zausner Kominski.
He was born in Baltimore, Md., Aug. 22, 1957, a son of John and Marie Sweeder Kominski of Baltimore.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by three children, Nicholas, Madison and Isabella Kominski; three brothers, John Kominski of Maryland, Ronald Kominski of New York, and Gerald Kominski of California; and several nieces and nephews.
