William Simpson Sr.
William H. Simpson Sr., a resident of Newtown for 41 years, died Monday at Bethel Health Care, Bethel. He was 76.

He was the husband of Nellie Simpson of Peck's Lane, Newtown.

Mr. Simpson was born in Fairfield, Dec. 9, 1920, a son of Robert D. and Bertha Hall Simpson. A letter carrier, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years and was previously a driver for the CR&L bus line of Bridgeport.

He was a member of Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 18 A.F. & A.M. of Sandy Hook and the Shriners.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, William Jr., of Danbury and Robert, of Danbury; a brother, Robert, of Bethel; two sisters, Barbara Willard of Newtown and Sally Reid-Haraski of Fairfield; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Contributions in memory of William Simpson may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, Springfield, Mass.

CALLING HOURS: Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m., Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown.

SERVICES: Friday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Newtown Village Cemetery.

Maria Freeman
Burial services for Maria Freeman, a former employee of Davis & Geck in Danbury, will be in St. Petersburg, Fla., at a date to be announced.

Mrs. Freeman, 82, died Sunday at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg. She was the wife of the late Charles Freeman.

Born March 23, 1915, in Fall River, Mass., Mrs. Freeman was a daughter of Evangelina and William Viera Botelho.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Jasmin of Brookfield; two sons, Richard Simoes of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Alvaro Rodriguez of Springhouse, Pa.; a sister, Jesuina ``Winnie'' Dovale of Danbury; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Anthony Simoes.

Thomas A. Trischett
Thomas A. Trischett, 64, of New Milford, died Saturday at Danbury Hospital.

He was the husband of Mary LeClair Trischett.

Mr. Trischett was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., a son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Kidd Trischett, and had lived most of his adult life in Connecticut.

Mr. Trischett served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a active member of the Marine Corps League of Ridgefield.

As a young man, he had been employed as a sheriff in the Los Angeles Police Department.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Lisa Trischett of Cromwell, Conn., Kristin Daly of Hood River, Ore., and Dorothy Borrusch of Denver, Colo.; a son, Michael Trischett of Anchorage, Alas.; a brother, Don Trischett of Florida; two grandsons, Ian and Hunter Daly; two step-daughters, Linda and Barbara LeClair of Maine; and three nephews and a niece.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Annie M. Dunbar
Annie Margaret Dunbar, 79, retired manager of a clothing store in Florida, died Saturday at Ashlar of Newtown.

She was the husband of the late Francis Dunbar.

Mrs. Dunbar was born in Talladega, Ala., on Aug. 2, 1918, a daughter of Barto and Annie Maherg McKinnon.

Before her retirement, she had managed a women's clothing store in Panama City, Fla.

Mrs. Dunbar had lived in Panama City for 30 years before moving to Newtown four years ago.

She is survived by a daughter, Nan Morrow of Newtown; a son, Joe Wooten of Albertville, Ala.; a brother, George McKinnon of Sylacauga, Ala.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown, is in charge of local arrangements.

Funeral services will take place Thursday in Sylacauga, Ala. Burial will be conducted Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Panama City.

Sarah E. Perry
Sarah E. Booska Perry, 88, the mother of Margaret E. Perry Mirabito of Danbury, died Sunday at Mediplex of Milford.

She was the wife of the late Wayne Ellsworth Perry Sr.

Mrs. Perry was born June 2, 1909, in Bristol, Vermont, a daughter of the late frank and Ida Sears Booska.

Mrs. Perry was a former parishioner of St. Paul Church in Bridgeport, where she served on the Ladies Guild. She was active with the Milford Senior Citizens Center.

Mrs. Perry was predeceased by a son, Donald R. Perry, and five brothers. She is survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker, and lived at Mediplex for the past three years. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 61 Burban Drive, Branford, CT 06405.

CALLING HOURS: Friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home.

SERVICES: Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home, 107 Broad St., on the Green, Milford. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery, Bridgeport.

Edward K. Saydah
Edward Khaleel Saydah, 91, a retired importer of embroidered linens, died Monday at Mediplex of Southbury.

He was the husband of Lyra Brzell Saydah of 70-A Heritage Village, Southbury.

Mr. Saydah was born Aug. 18, 1906, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of Khaleel W. and Kate Kourani Saydah.

Before his retirement, he had worked as an importer of embroidered linens.

Mr. Saydah moved to Southbury from Brooklyn in 1981.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Charles E. Saydah of Monsey, N.Y.; a daughter, Marie L. Sherer of Middlebury; a sister, Lillian Saydah of New York; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be announced by the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North, Route 6.

Marion Lasprogato
Marion Amundsen Lasprogato, 82, a New Milford resident and a former employee of the New Canaan Advertiser, died Sunday at the Candlewood Valley Care Center in New Milford.

She was the wife of the late Patrick J. Lasprogato and was a resident of 126 Paper Mill Road.

Mrs. Lasprogato was born in Norwalk on Oct. 23, 1915, a daughter of Fred and Hazel Smith Amundsen.

She graduated from Norwalk High School and had worked for the Hat Corporation of America and for the New Canaan Advertiser.

Mrs. Lasprogato was a member of the Ophir & Rosemary Chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a former member of the Monker Caldron & the Emblem Club.

She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in New Milford. She was a former member of Christ & Holy Trinity Church in Westport and Grace Episcopal Church in Norwalk.

Mrs. Lasprogato had been a New Milford resident since 1992, moving from Delray Beach, Fla. She had previously lived in Norwalk for 64 years.

She is survived by a son, Robert Lasprogato of Westport; a daughter, Barbara L. Carmellini of East Norwalk; and three grandchildren, Mark A. Gerber and Wendi M. Gerber, both of New Milford, and Kenneth N. Gerber of North Carolina.

Contributions in her memory may be made to St. John's Church Book of Remembrance, P.O. Box 179, New Milford 06776.

CALLING HOURS: Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home, 5 East Wall St., Norwalk.

SERVICES: Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John H. Branson III of Christ & Holy Trinity church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.

Maria Freeman
Maria Freeman, 82, a former employee of Davis & Geck in Danbury, died Sunday at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla.

She was the wife of the late Charles Freeman and the daughter of Jean Jasmin of Brookfield.

Rex Addison Wood
Rex Addison Wood, 76, father of Barbara Schnuck of Danbury, died Sunday at Arbors at Lakeland in Florida.

He was the husband of Cynthia Wood of Plantation Ridge Boulevard, Lakeland, Fla.

Mr. Wood was born in Leslie, Mich., on March 4, 1921, a son of Roy C. and Florene S. Chapman Wood.

Before his retirement, he had worked as a salesman.

Mr. Wood had been a Lakeland resident since 1987. He had previously lived in Maryville, Tenn., and in Newtown. He was a former member of the Newtown United Methodist Church.

Besides his wife and daughter, he is survived by a granddaughter, Katie Schnuck of Danbury.

The Lanier Funeral Home in Lakeland is in charge of arrangements.

Cremation will take place in Lakeland.

Linda A. Grant
Linda A. Grant, 51, a former secretary and resident of Newtown for the past nine years, died Sunday at her home at 9 West Street.

Mrs. Grant was the wife of Jeffrey Eric Grant.

She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on March 29, 1946, a daughter of Michael and Marie Ianuzzi Carozza. She was a graduate of business school in New York City.

Before she retired to raise her children, Mrs. Grant was a secretary to the Dean of Fordham University Law School.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Jeffrey Eric Grant Jr. of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; a daughter, Meredith A. Grant of Newtown; and a brother, Michael Carozza of Yorktown, N.Y.

CALLING HOURS: Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown.

SERVICES: Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Honan Funeral Home; followed at 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Christine Vitti
Christine LaRocca Vitti, 83, a retired hat designer, died Sunday at her home in Danbury.

A resident of Danbury since 1989, Mrs. Vitti previously lived in Stamford. She was the wife of the late Dominick Vitti.

She was born in Stamford on July 20, 1914, a daughter of Frank and Eugneia Tucciarone LaRocca.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Vitti was employed as a hat designer for various companies in New York City. She was a member of the Millinery Workers Union Local 24.

She was a former member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Stamford.

Her survivors include a son, Anthony F. Vitti of Danbury; a brother, Joseph LaRocca of Ft. Pearce, Fla.; two sisters, Laura Bracchi of Stamford and Anita Santo of Bethel; and three grandsons.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Jona Fund, 1312 Washington Blvd., Stamford, CT 06902.

CALLING HOURS: Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

SERVICES: Wednesday at 8:50 a.m. from the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Burial will take place in St. John Roman Catholic Cemetery, Darien, Conn.

Marion Baslow
Marion Brooks Walker Baslow, 77, a resident of Roxbury for more than 40 years, died Saturday at her home on Tunnel Road.

Mrs. Baslow was the wife of the late Glenn L. Baslow.

Born in Kingston, Pa., on July 2, 1920, she was a daughter of the Rev. Joseph and Grace Mildred Smith Walker. She grew up in Greenport, Long Island.

She was a graduate of Quinnipiac College.

Mrs. Baslow was an avid University of Connecticut basketball fan.

She was a member of the Roxbury Congregational Church.

Her survivors include four daughters, Meg Borger of Washington, Conn., Judy Larson and Joan Baslow-Temple, both of Roxbury, and Glennie Montagne of New Milford; a stepson, Eugene Baslow of Washington, Conn.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the New Milford Hospital Ambulatory Oncology Unit, 21 Elm St., New Milford 06776.

SERVICES: Tuesday at 11 a.m., a memorial service at the Roxbury Congregational Church with the Rev. David Peters officiating. Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

The Colonial Funeral Home, Hull Funeral Service, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford is in charge of arrangements.
