George Kanakos
Memorial services for George T. Kanakos will be conducted at the convenience of the family and are under the direction of the Cornell Memorial Home of Danbury.
Mr. Kanakos, 82, of Meadow Street, Danbury, died Tuesday at Mediplex of Danbury. He was the husband of the late Frances Ruiz Kanakos.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria J. Moscone of Danbury, with whom he made his home; two brothers, Peter Kanakos of Virginia and Nicholas Kanakos of Florida; a sister, Helen Neckles of Danbury; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Harold K. Tomlinson
Harold K. Tomlinson, 95, a retired maintenance worker with the Roberts Avenue School in Danbury and Data Control Company, died Wednesday at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Tomlinson, of 7 Marcy Terrace, Danbury, was the husband of the late Ruth E. Tomlinson.
Born in New Milford, Aug. 9, 1902, he was a son of Ernest and Charlotte Sullivan Tomlinson. He was educated in New Milford schools and had lived in the greater Danbury area most of his life.
Mr. Tomlinson was an Army veteran, serving from 1921 to 1924.
Before working for Roberts Avenue School and Data Control, he had been employed at area hatting companies for many years.
Surviving are two daughters, Gwen Wildman and Beverly Woodruff, both of Danbury; a brother, Michael Denunzio of Florida; and four grandsons; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Signe H. Camp
Signe H. Camp, 88, a retired housekeeper of private residences in the Merryall section of New Milford, died Wednesday at the Candlewood Valley Care Center in New Milford.
Mrs. Camp, of New Preston, was the widow of Herbert A. Camp.
She was born in New Milford, Sept. 11, 1908, a daughter of Andrew E. and Jennie Carlson. She attended the Chestnut Land School in New Milford.
Mrs. Camp moved to New Preston with her husband in 1928.
She was a member of the New Preston Congregational Church and an active member of the Washington Grange, Excelsior Pomona, the Connecticut State Grange and the National Grange.
Survivors include two sons, Frederick C. Camp of New Preston and Henry H. Camp of Harwinton, Conn.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Emily Begeman
Emily Kathleen Begeman of Brewster, N.Y., died Sunday in Rogersville, Ala. She was 11.
Emily was born in Fort Knox, Ky., July 20, 1986, the daughter of Maj. Paul and Jean (Moorehead) Begeman of Brewster.
She attended St. Lawrence O'Toole School and was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster. She also was a member of the Brewster Girl Scouts.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, John and Layonne Begeman of Rochester, Mich.; her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Kathleen Moorehead of Brewster; and her brother, John.

Helen Arnold
Helen Robison Arnold of Aspetuck Avenue, New Milford, died Monday while vacationing in Westerly, R.I. She was 92.
Mrs. Arnold was was born in Curwensville, Pa., June 18, 1905, the daughter of the late Wayne and Sophie Bilger Robison. She spent her early life in Meriden and graduated with honors form Meriden High School. She moved to New Milford in 1936 and was a member of the First Congregational Church of New Milford and the former New Milford Bridge Club.
She was the wife of the late Forrest D. Arnold. Survivors include a son, F. Wayne Arnold of Fox Fire Village, N.C.; three daughters, Janet Arnold of Willimantic, Sally Hull of Great Barrington, Mass., and Lois Mygatt of New Milford; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Richard Grob
Richard Raymond Grob of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., father of Katherine and Elizabeth Grob of North Salem, N.Y., died Sunday while vacationing in Michigan. He was 48.
Mr. Grob was born in White Plains, N.Y., July 28, 1949, the son of Frieda Schuler Grob of White Plains and the late Raymond Grob. He lived there until moving to Yorktown Heights in 1992. He graduated from Peekskill Military Academy and attended Belknap College. He was manager of building service for the Research Institute of America in Valhalla, N.Y.
Besides his daughters, he is survived by his former wife Marykate Hanaburgh Grob of North Salem; a sister, Claudia Toner of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; Robert Grob of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; three nieces and a nephew.

Russell Wight
Russell Bacon Wight of Heritage Village, Southbury, and Venice, Fla., died Monday at his Southbury home. He was 90.
Mr. Wight was born in Washington, D.C., Aug. 14, 1907, the son of the late Frederick Leslie and Charlotte Bacon Wight. He was a 1935 graduate of Yale University and received a master's degree from Harvard University in 1951. Mr. Wight taught history for 13 years before he became the director of the Edwin Gould Foundation's Lakeside School in New York City. He later became the executive director of the foundation, retiring in 1969.
He is an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Office of Strategic Services.
He and his wife, Jean H. (Volk) Wight, moved to Heritage Village in 1978. He was director of Condo 19 in the village until moving to Condo 4, where he became director and president. The couple was formerly of Moorestown N.J.
Besides his wife of 61 years, he is survived by a son, Russell B. Wight Jr. of Boca Raton, Fla.; a daughter, Susan Fabian of Marlborough; and two grandchildren.

Roseann Purdy
Roseann J. Purdy of Town Hill Avenue, Danbury, died Monday at her home. She was 61.
Mrs. Purdy was born in Danbury, March 19, 1936, the daughter of Vincenza ``Vincy'' C. Danise Moffa of Danbury and the late Nicholas A. Moffa Sr.
A lifelong resident of the city, she attended St. Joseph's School and Danbury High School. She worked for the former Telecommunications Answering Service as an operator before opening her own housekeeping business. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and of the Ladies of Colonna Lodge, Amerigo Vespucci, in which she served as president and in other offices during her affiliation.
Besides her mother, she is survived by a son, George W. Purdy Jr. of Danbury; a brother, Nicholas A. Moffa Jr. of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

George Kanakos
George T. Kanakos of Meadow Street, Danbury, died Tuesday at Mediplex of Danbury. He was 82.
Mr. Kanakos was born in New York City, Dec. 12, 1914, the son of Augustus and Jenny Tseni Kanakos. He was reared and educated in New York City. He lived in Willimantic for 20 years before moving to Danbury three months ago. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a self-employed carpenter for most of his life, retiring 20 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Ruiz Kanakos; his daughter Gloria J. Moscone of Danbury, with whom he made his home; two brothers, Peter of Virginia and Nicholas of Florida; a sister, Helen Neckles of Danbury; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Cremation and memorial services will be conducted at the convenience of the family at the direction of the Cornell Memorial Home of Danbury.
Phyllis J. Castrovinci
Phyllis J. Castrovinci, 50, a legal secretary with Gramm & James in New York City, died Monday at her home in New Fairfield.
Mrs. Castrovinci, who had lived in Putnam Lake, N.Y., for many years, was the wife of Anthony J. Castrovinci Jr.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Oct. 9, 1946, she was a daughter of Ralph and Viola MacPherson D'Ambrosio of Patterson, N.Y.
She graduated from Brewster High School and the Danbury Institute of Business.
Mrs. Castrovinci had been employed by Gramm & James for the past seven years.
A resident of New Fairfield for the past 28 years, she was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church in New Fairfield.
Besides her husband of 32 years and her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Stacey A. Castrovinci of Brewster, N.Y. She was predeceased by a son, Anthony J. Castrovinci III in 1994.

Marie Kraiger Payne
Marie Johanna Kraiger Payne, a retired registered nurse, died Saturday at the Glen Hill Convalescent Center in Danbury.
Mrs. Payne, of Danbury, was the wife of the late George A. Payne.
She was born in Danbury, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Theiss Kraiger.
Mrs. Payne was educated in Danbury and New York City, where she received her nurse's training.
She had worked as a nurse mostly in New York. Following her husband's retirement from The New York Times in 1965, she also retired and they returned to Danbury.
Mrs. Payne was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newtown.
Surviving are two sisters, Freda K. Murphy of Albany, N.Y., and Gladys J. Silliman of Newtown, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

SERVICES: Wednesday at noon, a graveside service will be conducted in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Danbury, with the Rev. Gregory Wismer officiating.

Sam Newman
Sam Newman, 52, an employee of Dell's Auto Wrecking in Danbury, died Monday at his home, 17 East Pearl St., Danbury.
He was the husband of Evelyn Williams Newman.
Born in Bristol, Va., Aug. 15, 1945, he was a son of Robert and Martha Hardsock Newman.
Mr. Newman was a member of the Danbury Moose Lodge.
Beside his wife, he is survived by two sons, Sam Newman Jr. and Robert Bennett, both of Danbury; four daughters, Phyllis Sturges Conway of South Carolina, Terry Marie Stearns of Danbury, Roberta Sasda and Elizabeth Vilayphonh, both of Greensboro, N.C.; three brothers, Jackie Newman, Terry Newman and Peter Newman, all of Virginia; four sisters, Agnes Pickle of New York, Willie Margaret Elma of Tennessee, Marth Wilson of Kentucky and Bertha Pope of Virginia; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

William F. Lanzarone

Mr. Lanzarone, 82, of Riverside, Conn., the father of Donna Kiah of Bethel, died Saturday at the Greenwich Laurelton Home.
He was the husband of the late Viola Chiappetta Lanzarone.
Besides his daughter, Mr. Lanzarone is survived by a brother, Gates Lanzarone of Florida; a sister, Amelia ``Chickie'' Pennella of Riverside, Conn.; and two grandchildren.

Anna M. Anderson
Anna M. Anderson, 84, a resident of the Laurelwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Ridgefield, died Friday at Danbury Hospital.
Mrs. Anderson, formerly of Bristol, Conn., was the wife of the late Alfred S. Anderson.
She also had lived at the Bishop Curtis Congregate Housing in Bethel and Putnam Towers in Danbury.
Born in Waterbury, May 4, 1913, she was a daughter of Salvatore and Augustina Ippolito Guiffre.
Mrs. Anderson had lived in Bristol for 50 years and was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Bristol.
Survivors include a son, Alfred Anderson Jr. of Bethel; a sister, Adele O'Donnell of Cheshire, Conn.; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; an aunt; and several nieces and nephews.
