Virginia R. Meany
Virginia Ruth Meany, age 96, of Bethel, formerly of Passaic, New Jersey, died at Mediplex, Danbury, CT, on Monday. She is the widow of Gerald J. Meany.
Mrs. Meany was born November 1, 1903, in East Rutherford, NJ, a daughter of the late John and Mary Gallagher Ballard. Mrs. Meany was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, East Rutherford, NJ. She was employed by Western Electric/Bell Telephone and for 30 years as an administrative assistant at St. Mary's Hospital, Passaic, NJ, retiring at the age of 75. She has been a resident of Bethel for ten years. Mrs. Meany was a member of St. Mary's Church, Bethel, CT.
Mrs. Meany is survived by two sons, Gerald J. Meany, Bethel, CT, and Richard Meany, West Milford, NJ; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Bethel, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, New Jersey, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. There are no calling hours.

Charles J. Sturdevant
The death of Charles J. Sturdevant, 64, of Eva Drive, Brookfield, husband of Ina M. Sturdevant, occurred at Bethel Health Care Monday evening.
Born in Danbury, May 12, 1935, son of the late Charles W. and Irene Renner Sturdevant, he was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1952. His young life was spent in Danbury, and he moved to Brookfield 40 years ago.
He was a veteran, serving in the Army for two years.
Mr. Sturdevant was employed at Pomperaug Woods, Southbury, in the security department for 12 years, until his illness forced him to leave.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Brookfield.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Lynda M. Sullivan and her husband, Timothy J., of New Milford, Eve Sturdevant and her husband, George Blass, Jr., of Brookfield, and Cheryl S. Hussain and her husband, Imran, of Manhattan; four grandchildren, Diana L. Maldonado, Jacqueline S. Blass, Timothy J. Sullivan Jr. and Tyler C. Sullivan.
Funeral services will be held a the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, Friday morning at 10:00. Owing to the solemnity of Holy Week, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date.
Interment will be in Center Cemetery, New Milford.
Friends may call at the Brookfield Funeral Home Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00.

Theresa M. Scinto
Theresa M. "Terry" Scinto, age 65, of Winter Springs, FL, formerly of Newtown, beloved wife of the late Frank D. Scinto, died suddenly on Sunday, April 16, 2000, in Manchester, Tennessee.
Born on April 12, 1935, in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Edward R. and Mary Capozzi Del Mastro. She was a customer service representative for CT National Bank in Danbury for 15 years.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Scinto owned and operated the Newtown Package Store for 10 years, before moving to Florida.
She was a member of the Newtown Chapter of Alhambra and the Epilepsy Association of Florida.
Mrs. Scinto is survived by her beloved children, Frank J. Scinto and Mary Van Oyan, both of Florida; her sisters, Elinor Hill and her husband, Harry, of Woodbridge, Agnes Murch of Glastonbury, and Rosemary Chiappa and her husband, James, of Trumbull; her brother-in-law, Dr. Lawrence Scinto and his wife, Joyce, of Florida; her three granddaughters, Jessica, Cassie and Meghan Van Oyan of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Route 111, Monroe, on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Interment will follow directly at Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.

Richard E. Lawlor Sr.
Richard E. "Dick" Lawlor Sr. died April 17, 2000, at his home on Beach Street, Bethel, after a long battle with cancer at the age of 60. His family was at his side.
He was the husband of Joann Chiarella Lawlor.
Mr. Lawlor was born in Danbury, Sept. 3, 1939, son of the late Thomas and Susan Leahy Lawlor, and he graduated from Danbury High School Class of 1957. He was a member of the Army Reserve and was activated during the Cuban Crisis. He worked as a printer for Davis and Geck in Danbury for 23 years and also as a driver for The News-Times from 1990 to 1997.
He was a member of St. Mary Church in Bethel, the Merchant Duck Pin Bowling League and the Danbury Industrial Golf League, serving as past president.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Richard Jr. and his wife Christine, Ronald E. and Randall E. Lawlor and his fianc'E9 Lisa, and a granddaughter, Michaela Lawlor, all of Bethel. He is also survived by five brothers, Robert of Nevada, William of Newtown, Edmund of Danbury, and Joseph and Martin, both of Bethel; two sisters, Agnes Gibbs of Kentucky and Elizabeth Green of Newtown. He was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas, Jack and James; and three sisters, Katherine Culhane, Margaret Trass and Mary Evansco. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Church, Bethel, on Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Due to the solemnity of Holy Week, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Mr. Lawlor on Saturday, April 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Bethel.

Robert W. Houghtaling Sr.
Robert W. Houghtaling, Sr., 62, of 198 Main St., Danbury, died Monday at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Houghtaling was born in Danbury, July 6, 1937, the son of the late Richard and Genevieve (Ireland) Houghtaling. He attended Danbury schools and had worked for the Amphenol Company of Danbury.
He is survived by his son, Robert W. Houghtaling, Jr., and his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Brian Coderre, all of Danbury; as well as his sisters, Margaret Houghtaling, Mildred Chiarella and Catherine Webb, also of Danbury; his grandchildren, Jessica Houghtaling, Amanda, Rebecca and Ryan Coderre and Asia Breece; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Harry "Bingo" Houghtaling.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of the arrangements.
William R. Moschello
William R. Moschello died unexpectedly April 16, 2000, at his home on Ironworks Hill Road in Brookfield at the age of 64.
He was the husband of Patricia A. (LeRoux) Moschello.
Mr. Moschello was born in Brooklyn, New York, July 28, 1935, son of the late Frederick J. and Philamena Carafano Moschello. He received his early education in Brooklyn, moved to Taylor Avenue in Norwalk, then moved to Danbury and, 34 years ago, settled in Brookfield.
He was a retired machinist for R.F.M. Farrell in New Milford for 13 years. He attended St. Joseph Church in Brookfield and was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus, Council 46, in Norwalk, CT.
Besides his wife he is survived by his four daughters, Deborah B. Moschello and Sharon A. Kearney, both of Brookfield, Selina C. Moschello of Danbury, and Kimberly A. Branca of Ronkonkoma, L.I., N.Y.; three grandchildren, Nicole and Brittany Kearney and Ronald Branca; his sister, Patricia Jurgiewicz of Redding, CT; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk, CT.

Mary Spinelli
Mary (McQuigan) Spinelli, 83, formerly of 51 Prospect Ridge, Ridgefield, died on Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Glen Hill Harborside, Danbury.
Mrs. Spinelli was born in New York, New York, July 20, 1916, a daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Tucker) McQuigan. She attended New York schools.
She was a Danbury/Ridgefield resident since 1984.
A Gathering of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, May 13th at 1 P.M. in the Alumni Hall of Western Connecticut State University, Midtown Campus, Danbury.
There were no calling hours. Cremation took place at the convenience of the family.

Joseph Amato Jr.
Joseph Amato, Jr., 69, of Hayestown Heights, Danbury, died Tuesday at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Mr. Amato was the husband of Bozena (Sivacek) Amato. They had been married for 43 years.
He was born in Danbury, Connecticut October 1, 1930, a son of Joseph and Angelina (Tomaino) Amato, Sr.
Mr. Amato was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Kanthal Corporation in 1994 after 35 years of employment. Prior to serving in the U.S. Army, he worked for Marcus Dairy and the Danbury Hat Company.
Mr. Amato was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Danbury and the A.A.R.P. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved animals and had a witty sense of humor. Mr. Amato was a devoted husband and father. He was a gentle person and a family man and a jack-of-all trades.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, and sons-in-law, Lori and Frank Lazetera and Sandra Lee and Louis Deavers, 2 sisters, Grace Ruggiero of Danbury and Rose & John Zarcone of Massachusetts, a granddaughter, Jennifer Deavers and several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Dr. John Woodward Rhinehart, M.D.
Dr. John Woodward Rhinehart M.D., a 42-year resident of Newtown, died on Saturday April 15th, 2000 at his daughter's home near Austin, Texas after a three month illness. He was 69 years old.
Born May 1, 1930 in New York City, he was the son of Archie Edward Rhinehart and Helen Marie Updegrove. He was preceded in death by his wife Suzanne Hafford Rhinehart (1932-1964). They married June 4, 1955 at St. John's Church in New Rochelle, New York, and honeymooned on Cape Cod.
Dr. Rhinehart was raised in Riverdale and Bronxville, New York, graduating from Columbia College and New York Medical School at Flower and Fifth Ave. Hospital in Manhattan. Dr. Rhinehart practiced psychiatry using a holistic approach to wellness. He started his career at Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown and later moved his practice to his residence on West St., where he practiced for the rest of his career.
He is survived by his two children, Lee and Ben, and eight grandchildren. Lee Rhinehart Charlton of Manor, Texas and her husband Duncan have three children: Rian Schuyler, Casey Everett, and Benjamin Argyle. Ben Rhinehart of Bloomington, Indiana and his wife Barbara have five children: Stephanie Marie, Sean Ray, Avery Tyler, Adam Robert, and Isabel Suzanne.
There will be a memorial service in Newtown during the first week of August, the exact date and time to be announced.
Rosemarie Justino
Rosemarie Justino, 48, of Danbury, died Thursday at Westchester Medical Center. She was the wife of Joseph Justino.
She was born in Mount Vernon, New York, September 12, 1951, a daughter of Anthony and Rose (Manna) Barletta.
Mrs. Justino graduated from the Academy of the Resurrection in Rye, New York. She received a B.A. in Education from Iona College and a Master's Degree in Special Education from the College of New Rochelle.
Mrs. Justino taught second grade for eight years at St. Catherine's Elementary School in Pelham, New York, and also worked as a relocation coordinator for Cendant Mobility in Danbury.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother, Rose Barletta, and her brother, Anthony Barletta.
