Vincent J."Jimmy" Lavelle
Vincent J. "Jimmy" Lavelle, 89, husband of Lena (DeGross) Lavelle, of Federal Road, Brookfield, died at his residence on Tuesday morning.
He was born in Danbury, June 27, 1911, son of the late Vito and Mary (Carlo) Lavelle. He had attended Danbury schools and had been a Danbury resident prior to moving to Brookfield in 1958.
As a young man, Mr. Lavelle had worked in the hatting industry. He later became a restaurant proprietor and operated several restaurants in the area, the New England Hotel in Brewster, NY; the Log Cabin in Patterson, NY; the Park Avenue Grill in Danbury; Lavelle's Fireside Restaurant and Lavelle's Wagon Wheel Restaurant, both in Brookfield. He retired several years ago.
Mr. Lavelle was a member of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, and a past member of the Danbury Kiwanis Club and the Beckerley Hose Company. He was also a recipient of the Danbury Old Timer's Civic Award for his overwhelming support of sports in the Greater Danbury area.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, James Lavelle and his wife, Jean of Virginia, William Lavelle and his wife Anne of Danbury, Jonathan Lavelle and his wife Terry of Brookfield; a daughter, Virginia Herron Hatcher and her husband, Walter of Bridgewater; 3 sisters, Lucy Lavelle, Rosemary Lavelle and Vita Rotella, all of Danbury; his grandchildren, Michael Lavelle, Mary Jennifer Lavelle, Jamie-Lynn Heron, Sean Herron, Christy (Lavelle) Mangan, Scott Lavelle, Jeffrey Herron, Catherine Lavelle, James Lavelle, Angela Lavelle and Allison Herron; great-grandchildren, Taylor Herron, Jack Lavelle and Taylor Mangan. Mr. Lavelle was predeceased by two brothers, Michael Lavelle and Angelo Lavelle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place in Center Cemetery, Bridgewater. There will be no calling hours.

Hillary Baines
Hillary Helen Baines, age 57, of Main St., Danbury, died Tuesday at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of Shedhill L. Baines.
Mrs. Baines was born in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies on December 5, 1942, a daughter of the late Herbert Smith and the late Floris Patten Hayes. She was raised and educated in Jamaica, graduating from Mico Teachers College in 1979. Mrs. Baines was employed as a teachers aide at the Mill Ridge Intermediate School. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where she sang in the senior choir. Mrs. Baines was a loving wife, mother and sister.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Baines is survived by 2 sons, Paul Baines of Brookfield, Wayne Baines of Lauderdale Lakes, FL; 2 daughters, Maxine Baines of Lauderdale Lakes, FL; and Sheryll Manerson of Atlanta, GA; 2 brothers: Ralston Dunkley of Waterbury, CT and Oswald Dunkley of Hempstead, Long Island; and a sister Olga Mitchell of Danbury; and 5 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Percell.
The funeral service will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church, 10 Cherry St., Danbury on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Hull Funeral Home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Florence Bouchard
Florence A. Bouchard died at her home on Holly Street Ext. Danbury on July 31, 2000 at the age of 69. She was the wife of John F. Bouchard.
Mrs. Bouchard was born in Montgomery Center, Vt., February 25, 1931, daughter of the late Anthony and Harriett Lumbra Martell and received her education there. John and Florence moved to Danbury 31 years ago and celebrated 51 years of marriage. Florence worked as a Secretary for the J.F. Bouchard Paving Co. and also for Davis and Geck Co. of Danbury and Burndy Corp. of Bethel. She attended St. Gregory Church.
Besides her beloved husband, she is survived by her devoted children, Paulette Bouchard and her husband Jack Czyszynski of Lakeside Ca., Cheryl Wall and her husband Tom of Brookfield and Lisa Dunn and her husband Steve of Danbury; 6 grandsons, Steven and Joseph Lange, Steven, Jesse and Tyler Dunn and John Czyszynski and a granddaughter, Kylie Dunn; a brother, Donald Martell of Watertown, Ct. and a sister, Gwendolyn Martell of Florida; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory Church. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.

Douglas J. Butt
The death of Douglas J. Butt, 45, of Summer St., Bristol, Conn., formerly of Brookfield, occurred in Waterbury Sunday as the result of a fall.
He was born in Brookfield, March 20, 1955, son of Kedric L. Butt of Hyannis, Mass. and the late Gloria Geoghgan Butt, attended Brookfield schools and was a graduate of Brookfield High School, Class of 1973.
He lived later in Clinton, CT and moved to Bristol 12 years ago.
Mr. Butt was the owner of Guitar King Music Store in Bristol for the past 6 years and was a Guitarist for the Dubenay Brothers Band which played and toured throughout the state.
He was a member of the Better Business Bureau of Bristol.
Besides his father, he is survived by a brother, Edward A. Butt of Brookfield; a daughter, Shanti Stead of Valley Center, Calif.; his fianc'E9e, Pauline M. James of Bristol; 4 nieces and 1 nephew.
Funeral services will be held at the Brookfield Funeral Home Thursday evening at 8:30.
Burial will be in Bristol, Conn., at the convenience of the family.

Margaret E. Krehbiel
Margaret E. Krehbiel, 91, a fifty-six year resident of Wilton, died on Wednesday (August 2) at Wilton Meadows. She was the wife of the late Ernest Krehbiel.
Mrs. Krehbiel was born in Bridgeport, CT on June 13, 1909, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Bolchazy Sabanos. She was a member of the Wilton Congregational Church and had been active at social functions there and at Ogden House in Wilton.
Mrs. Krehbiel is survived by her son, Ernest N. Krehbiel of Wilton; her daughter, Diana E. Steiner of Woodbury, CT; one sister, Viola Medvey of Stratford, CT; and two grandchildren, Jennifer E. Steiner and Jeffrey J. Steiner.
Services will be held on Friday (August 4) at 11 a.m. in the Wilton Congregational Church with the Rev. Brigitta Remole, Pastor, officiating. The interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Wilton.
There are no calling hours.

Mabel D. Drapeau
Mabel D. Drapeau, 95, formerly of Locust Avenue, Danbury, died at Glen Hill Health Care Center on Wednesday, August 2, 2000. She was the wife of the late Theodore Drapeau.
Born in Danbury, CT on June 30, 1905, she was a daughter of the late Julius and M. Louise (Bucholz) Meltzer. She graduated from Danbury High School with Honors, Class of 1923. In 1925, Mrs. Drapeau graduated from the Wilfred Academy of Hairdressing and Beauty Culture.
Mrs. Drapeau was a self-employed hairdresser until the time of her retirement. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the AARP.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as her longtime friend, Linda Shail.
Graveside services will be held at Wooster Cemetery, Section 23, Thursday, August 3rd at 1:30 p.m. There are no calling hours.

Mildred Pokorny
Mildred Pokorny, 96, formerly of Stamford, Connecticut, died Wednesday in Bradenton, Florida.
She was the wife of the late Steven Pokorny.
She was born in Aurora, Maine, March 9, 1904, a daughter of the late Ulysses S. and Ida May (Webber) Dorr.
Mrs. Pokorny lived in Stamford for over 60 years. She was a member of St. Andrew's Church and was active in church affairs and women's clubs. Mrs. Pokorny was a cook for the Stamford school System for many years and also for CBS Laboratories in Stamford.
She is survived by her son, Steven M. Pokorny Jr. of Florida; 3 daughters, Shirley and her husband Grant Retallick whom she made her home with for 8 years in New Fairfield, Barbara Elliott whom she made her home with for the past year in Bradenton, Florida, Dody E. Green and her husband Raymond of Springdale, CT; 15 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and 4 great, great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Lois S. Burton.

Johann (Hans) Henauer
Johann (Hans) Henauer died at the Danbury Hospital on August 1, 2000 at the age of 55. He was the husband of Anneliese Matzka Henauer and lived on Fairmont Drive in Danbury.
Mr. Henauer was born in Krumbach, Germany on March 5, 1945, son of the late Rudolf and Lieselotte Westerhausen. He received his education in Germany and came to this country in 1972. He settled in Danbury in 1987.
Hans was a Technical Advisor for the Carl Zeiss Corp. in Thornwood, NY for 30 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church.
Besides his wife he is survived by his son, Markus and daughter, Sandra N. Henauer, both of Danbury; his half brother, Andreas Ross and several relatives. in Germany.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Main St., Danbury. Cremation will follow at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Edwin I. Cook
Edwin I. Cook, 92, formerly of Brookfield and New Milford, died Thursday, July, 27, 2000 at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center in Wallingford, CT. He was the husband of the late Marion Fyfe Cook.
Born in Bergen, NY, he was the son of E.I. Cook Sr. and Flora Abell Cook. A graduate of New York University College of Engineering, he was employed by Sperry Rail Service, Hoboken, NJ, and then Danbury until his retirement in 1973 as rail car shop manager.
A member of the First Congregational Church, Danbury, he sang in the Choir and was a Deacon. He served on the Board of Directors of the Red Cross and the Visiting Nurse Association, was also a member of the Danbury Music Center and the Community Chorus, as well as the Richter Association for the Arts and Masonic Union Lodge, #40
He is survived by a daughter, Judith A. Rowan of Loudon, TN; a son, David F Cook of Danbury; and a sister, Catherine Shedd, of Leonia, NJ.
A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, Danbury, Sunday, August 6th, at 3:30.

Ruth S. 'Nort' Norton
Ruth S. "Nort" Norton, 83, widow of Jeremiah T.P. "Sharkey" Norton, who had been a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday at Danbury Hospital.
Mrs. Norton was born in Danbury, October 18, 1916, a daughter of the late Sidney H. and Jennie W. Murdoch Smith, and had made her home in Danbury, and later on Nashville Road, Bethel. Most recently she had lived with her daughter in Danbury. An Episcopalian, she had associated with St. Thomas' Episcopal Church while in Bethel, and had been a member of St. James' Church, Danbury. She had worked as a psychiatric aide at Fairfield Hills State Hospital in Newtown and retired in 1974, with over 21 years of service and she was an avid bingo player.
Mrs. Norton is survived by two daughters, Ruth E. Cote and her husband Roger, of Danbury, and Bony Rodgers and her fianc'E9, Richard Babcock; and a granddaughter, Amanda Rodgers, all of Waterbury. Also, her sister, Marguerite Bacon, of Brookfield; 3 step-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at St. James' Episcopal Church, Danbury, on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m.
Friends will be received at the Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main St., Danbury on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Norris 'Jim' Hatch
Norris "Jim" Hatch, 89, husband of Dorothy Hayes Hatch, of 20 McBean Drive, New Fairfield, died Monday at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Hatch was born in New Fairfield, February 26, 1911, a son of the late Norris and Anna Morgan Hatch and had been a New Fairfield resident throughout his life. He had graduated from the New Fairfield Public Schools, and continued his education in Machinist program at Henry Abbott Technical School, then known as the Danbury Trade School, with honors. He went on to earn a pilot's license in 1932, at the Curtis-Wright Aeronautic School and developed a career which spanned 43 years, with the former Doran Brothers Manufacturing Company, in Danbury, retiring as plant superintendent.
Both Mr. Hatch and his wife of 65 years have been active in New Fairfield civic affairs, and have been members of the New Fairfield Congregational Church of over 50 years and have worked and lead many Church activities. Mr. Hatch had served the Board of Deacons numerous times.
Awarded a 35 year membership award by the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company, he served as Captain for more than ten years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Tom Hatch of Rocklin, California, and Jim Hatch of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at The Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main Street, Danbury, on Friday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Patricia Nicholas, Minister of the New Fairfield Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be in Central Cemetery, Brookfield.
Friends will be received at The Homestead, Friday after 1:00 p.m.
