Concetta Tomanio

Concetta "Jetta" Gigliotti Tomanio, mother of Eleanor Lewis of 25 Center St., died Thursday, August 10, 2000, at the Pope John Paul Center for Health Care.

She was born in Danbury, June 6, daughter of the late Bernard and Marie Josephine (Tucci) Gigliotti.

She attended St. Peter School and was a devoted member of St. Peter Parish and a longtime Democratic canvasser and worker. Concetta served as president of the War Memorial Senior Citizen Club and also St. Peter Senior Citizens group for many years. She also was a dedicated worker in the church's thrift shop.

She was a devoted wife and mother and a good friend to everyone. She was special to all who knew her and will be deeply missed, but forever cherished. She will be remembered for her love of the flowers that surrounded her home and her love of all the area bingos.

She is survived by her loving daughter Eleanor; her sister Mary Falasca of River Edge, NJ; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Concetta was predeceased by her husband Anthony, her parents, her brothers Samuel, Angelo and John and her sisters Rose Renzetti and Teresa Zenobia.

Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be conducted from Green Funeral Home on Monday at 10 a.m. to St. Peter Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to St. Peter Church; or to Pope John Paul II Center for Health Care (Pastoral Care and Alzheimer's Group) in appreciation of the care, kindness, concern and love shown to her and her family by the Pope John Paul staff.

Frederick J. Leary

Frederick J. Leary, 75, of Spring Forest, S.C., formerly of Danbury, died July 7, 2000. He had been employed as a mechanic for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Florence C. Flemming Leary; 4 sons, Richard J. Leary of Mendham, N.J., Thomas F. Leary of Long Beach, Calif., Matthew J. Leary of New Milford, and Michael S. Leary of Norwalk; a daughter, Margaret Mary Leary Hoskins of Fenton, Mo.; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Murphy of Florida, and Winifred Beers of Danbury; a brother, Robert Leary of Florida; and 4 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, John P. Leary.

Funeral services were conducted in South Carolina.

Marie Wright

Marie Morabito Wright, age 60, of Danbury, died Tuesday at Danbury Hospital.

Mrs. Wright was born in Portchester, New York, December 29, 1939, a daughter of the late Fred and Jean Como Morabito. She was a resident of Redding for many years before moving to Danbury, and had worked at the National Organization of Rare Disorders in New Fairfield.

She is survived by two sons, Steven Wright of Bridgeport, CT, and Marc Wright of Darien, CT; a brother, James Morabito of Bethel, CT; as well as three nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Ernest J. Ruopp

Ernest J. Ruopp, died Aug. 9, 2000, at his home in North Carolina at the age of 84. Calling hours at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, will be Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.

William Blore, Jr.

William B. Blore, Jr., 39, of 61 Sheridan Street, Danbury, CT passed away Friday, August 11, 2000, at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Sharon (Ultsch) Blore.

Mr. Blore was born in Norwalk, CT. He was a graduate of Danbury High School and attended Western Connecticut State University and Norwalk State Technical College. Mr. Blore was very active in the Danbury schools baseball teams. While he was in junior and senior high school, he received the Most Valuable Player Award. He Mr. Blore worked as a machinist for Ambel Inc., of Bethel.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son, Tiffany Blore and William B. Blore, III, both of Bethel; his mother, Mary Blore Fantin of Weston; his father and step-mother, William B. Blore, Sr. and Linda L. Blore of New Milford; his brothers, John M. Blore, Brian T. Blore, and Randall S. Blore, all of New Milford; as well as his sisters, Cynthia Blore Ruffner of Boston and Kimberly Blore Tuttle of New Milford; his maternal grandmother, Beatrice Skirpan of TN; and many nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Monday at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home on Monday from 1 to 2 p.m.

Carol K. Poprocki

Carol K. Poprocki, age 71 of New Milford, died Friday at Candlewood Valley Care Center. She is the wife of Joseph A. Poprocki.

Mrs. Poprocki was born in Manhattan, NY, May 8, 1929, a daughter of the late Edward A. and Kathryn Carroll Kelleher. She has been a resident of New Milford for over twenty-one years. Prior to her marriage Mrs. Poprocki was a supervisor at AT&T. During the Korean War she worked with the USO in NY. Mrs. Poprocki was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, New Milford. Mrs. Poprocki was a loving wife and mother, she will be greatly missed by family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Poprocki is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Duguary, of Fairfield; her grandson Robert Poprocki, of New Milford; cousins, Agnes Kelleher, Miriam Kelleher and William Kelleher, all of NY.

Funeral services will be conducted from The Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford, Wednesday morning at 9:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Church, New Milford at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Long Island City, NY.

Family will receive friends at the Colonial Funeral Home, Tuesday afternoon from 2 until 4 and in the evening from 7 until 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Church Capital Improvement Fund, One Elm Street, New Milford, CT 06776.

Frances Neri Calandra

Francis Neri Calandra, age 84, of 310 Glen Ayre Drive, New Milford, wife of the late Charles Calandra, died Monday at her home.

Mrs. Calandra was born in Brooklyn, N.Y,, March 27, 1916, a daughter of the late Vincent and Alfonsina Cinquamani Neri.

She had moved to New Milford in 1993. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church, was active in the New Milford Senior Center, and participated in numerous activities at Glen Ayre senior housing.

She is survived by two sons, Michael A. Calandra and his wife Liz of Milford, N.J., and Vincent J. Calandra and his wife Marianne of New Milford; a daughter, Virginia Calandra Sobelman and her husband Lenny of Queens, N.Y.; two sisters, Mary Tirelli of Queens, N.Y., and Rose Colletti of Albertson, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford, to Our Lady of the Lakes Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, New Milford.

Friends may call at the Lillis Funeral Home Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the New Milford Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, 68 Park Lane Road, New Milford, CT 06776.
