John J. Madieros
John J. Madieros, age 76, of Ridgefield, CT, husband of Susan (Ludwick) Madieros, died at his home, April 3, 1999. He was born in Pennsylvania, July 7, 1922, son of the late Joseph J. and Frances (Costa) Madieros. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Stephen Madieros of Bronx, NY, & Joseph Stanton of Danbury; 2 daughters, Jane Ann Sadler & Debra Stanton, both of Florida; 2 sisters, Gloria LaJoie & Irene Madigan, both of Waterbury; 9 grandchildren; & several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Manuel and Joseph.
Graveside services will be held at Wooster Cemetery Thursday afternoon at 1:30. Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury Thursday from 11:30 to 1 p.m.
Robert L. Bates
The death of Robert L. Bates, 68, of 5 Patricia Drive, Brookfield, husband of Mary Ann (Miller) Bates, occurred at the Danbury Hospital Sunday morning.
Born in East Norwalk, Oct. 20, 1930, he was the son of the late Robert S. and Mildred Tremblay Bates. He was educated in Norwalk schools. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving 4 years in the Army. He moved from Norwalk to Brookfield 36 years ago. He had been employed by the Dichello Distributors as a Budweiser Beer Truck Driver for 35 years retiring 8 years ago. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #149 of Danbury.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Robert A. Bates of Brookfield and Clifford G. Bates of New Milford; 3 daughters, Debra A. Pomales of Patterson, N.Y., Patricia M. Burns of Marlborough, CT and Laurie K. Dalzell of Gaylordsville, CT; 3 brothers, Richard Bates and Donald Bates both of Hollyhill, Fla. and Daniel Bates of Daytona Beach, Fla.; 2 sisters, Virginia Bates of Deland, Fla. and Gidget Fitzgerald of California; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield Wednesday morning at 10:00. Interment will follow in Central Cemetery, Brookfield.
Friends may call at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield, Tuesday evening from 5 to 8:00.

Catherine B. Indelicato
Catherine B. Indelicato died at the Cresent Manor in Waterbury on April 4, 1999 at the age of 72. She was born in Brooklyn, NY Dec. 18, 1926 daughter of Frank J. and Frances Ann (Gulino) Indelicato. She received her education in New York and lived most of her life in Staten Island, New York and came to this area for a short time in 1989.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Louis Indelicato of Brookfield and two nephews Frank and Anthony Indelicato.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:15 am at St. Charles Church in Staten Island. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery on Staten Island. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
Ann J. Gibson
Ann J. Gibson, age 88, of Redding, Conn. died on Monday, April 5, 1999 at the Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Donald F. Gibson, M.D.
Mrs. Gibson was born in New Milford, Conn., a daughter of the late Emil and Emma (Carlson) Johnson. She grew up and attended schools in New Milford, and had been a resident of West Redding, Conn. for the past 50 years.
She is survived by her son, Donald E. Wetmore of Brookfield, Conn.; a sister, Shirley Golembesky of West Redding; four grandchildren, Lorna Bufkin of Brookfield, Bryan Wetmore and Jinny Brittingham of New Milford and Pam Neumann of Ridgefield, Conn.; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Solveig H. Henry
Solveig Henriksen Henry, age 89, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Dark Entry Road, Washington, Conn., died Monday April 5, 1999 at Palm Garden of Tampa, Fla. She was the widow of Walter A. Henry.
Mrs. Henry was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on May 15, 1909, a daughter of the late Henrik and Karoline Olsen Henriksen. She moved to Washington in the early 1950s from Huntington, Long Island. Over the years she lived in Washington, she was employed as a secretary for Reynolds, Richards & McCuthineon Attorneys at Law, the Washington Tax Collector, Washington Supply and for 20 years by Attorney Cornell in Washington Depot, Conn.
Mrs. Henry was a member of the Salem Covenant Church, Washington and a member of the church's Lydia Circle. Noted for her needlework, she won several blue ribbons at the Bethlehem Fair. She was also known for sewing children's clothing for the App Mission, the International Alliance for Children and the Washington VNA Thrift Shop.
Mrs. Henry is survived by two daughters, Karoline Phelps of New Milford, Conn. and Marjorie Fox of Tampa, Fla., as well as two grandchildren.

Frances Hallecks
Frances Hallecks, 67, of 26 Fordyce Road, New Milford died April 5, 1999 at home after a brief illness. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by loving family and friends.
She was born on July 22, 1931 in New York City, the youngest daughter of Rosario and Josephine Mussomeli. Mrs. Hallecks attended schools in New York. She and her husband moved with their two children to New Milford in 1959. In 1961, she began her career working for the town of New Milford as a crossing guard.
She continued her career by becoming an elected town constable and eventually became the first woman police officer in New Milford. She was a familiar sight on the streets of town until her retirement from active duty due to a job-related injury. However, she continued working for the police department in the records department. Mrs. Hallecks retired from the New Milford Police Department in January 1994 after 29 years of service.
She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1672, a member of AARP and a volunteer at the New Milford Senior Center.
She is survived by a son, Karl Hallecks III and his wife Barbara and daughter Donna Vincent, all of New Milford; and three grandchildren, Beth Anne Hink and Jennifer Vincent of New Milford and Kristen Smith of Danbury. Mrs. Hallecks was the proud great-grandmother of Mark Hink and Elizabeth Smith. She is also survived by three brothers, Marianno Mussomeli of Chandler, Ariz., John Mussomeli of Bogota, N.J. and Michael Mussomeli of Falls Church, Va.; two sisters, Helen Appel of Ridgefield Park, N.J. and Josephine Cafaro of Dumont, N.J. and many loving nieces and nephews.
A Gathering of Friends will be held on Saturday, April 17, 1999 from 10 to 11 a.m., with a Memorial Service following at 11 a.m., at the Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford.

Beatrice M. Terry
Beatrice M. Terry, 43, of 38 Spring Street, Danbury died Saturday, April 3, 1999 at Danbury Hospital. She formerly lived in Bethel and spent the last 13 years in Danbury.
She was born in Stamford, Conn., a daughter of Irving and Alberta (Turnage) Terry. She was a member of Trinity Christian Tabernacle Church.
She is survived by a son, Carnezz Terry Sr. of Danbury; three brothers, Arthur Terry of Bethel and George and Curtis Terry, both of Danbury; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and two great-nephews.

Carol J. Foss
Carol J. Foss, 56, of 11 Locust Ave., Danbury died at the Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, April 6, 1999.
She was born in Belleville, N.Y. on February 14, 1943, daughter of the late Harold and Nina (Backus) Barkley. She grew up in the central New York area and moved to Danbury in 1963. She was employed as traffic manager for Fairfield Processing Co. of Danbury.
She is survived by a daughter, Sara Gundry of Marysville, Pa.; two sisters, Rose Hier of Bath, N.Y. and Fay Williams of Rochester, N.Y.; five brothers, Charles Barkley of Silver Creek, Miss., Allen Barkley of Adams, N.Y., Victor Barkley of North Syracuse, N.Y., Morgan Williams of Belleville, N.Y. and Ricky Williams of Rochester, N.Y.; her former husband, David Foss of Danbury; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Casimer Charles Dembroski
Casimer Charles Dembroski, age 91, of Norwalk died Thursday, April 1, 1999 at the Candlewood Valley Health Center. He was the husband of Sophie Parada Dembroski.
Born in Warsaw, Poland on March 4, 1908, Mr. Dembroski was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Dembroski. He was a retired butcher and owner of the Hill Market on Stevens Street in Norwalk for 21 years. He was a former auxiliary policeman, past commodore of the Norwalk Boat Club for eight years and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 46.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Lane of Scottsdale, Ariz., June Jaykus of Bridgeport and Joan Stietzel of Danbury; a sister, Irene Poe of Hartford; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Church, 669 West Ave., Norwalk. Interment will be private and there are no visiting hours.
Patricia A. Bodnar
Patricia A. (Banyai) Bodnar, 57, of Park Lawn Dr., Bethel, wife of the late Bernard P. Bodnar, died Tuesday at Bethel Health Care.
She was born in Norwalk, CT, Oct. 5, 1941, a daughter of the late Andrew and Ethel (Koletar) Banyai. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1959 and received training as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Bullard Haven Technical School and Bridgeport Hospital.
Mrs. Bodnar worked as an LPN for School Sisters of Notre Dame in Wilton, for more than 20 years.
She lived in West Redding and Brookfield before moving to Bethel.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Danbury.
Her survivors include a son, Matthew Bodnar of Washington, D.C. and 2 daughters; Diane M. Bodnar-Pellino and Suzanne Scarfi, both of Danbury; a brother, Robert Banyai of Indiana; and 2 grandchildren, Danielle and Andrew Scarfi, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Danbury, on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery.

Christine M. Hyatt
Christine M. Hyatt, 94, of Beech Tree Road, Brookfield, died Wednesday at her home. She was the wife of the late Arnold L. Hyatt. She was born in Danbury, Connecticut Oct. 7, 1904, a daughter of Ivan C. and Rosamond (Todd) Mansfield.
Mrs. Hyatt was a member of St. James' Episcopal Church and worked as secretary at the church office for 54 years. She was past treasurer of St. James' Episcopal Church, was a member of the senior club and the altar guild. She volunteered for the Red Cross and was a member of the Brookfield Women's Club.
She is survived by her sister, Arlene Mansfield Tottle of Danbury and her brother-in-law, Lloyd Hyatt of Bethel.

Vincent C. Mitchell
Vincent C. Mitchell, 82, of Berkeley Twp., NJ, died on March 25 at home. Born in West New York, NJ, he lived in Bergenfield, NJ for 30 years prior to moving to Berkeley Twp. in 1984. He was an accounting manager for the Institute of Religion and Health in NYC for 12 years retiring in 1980. Prior to that, he was an office manager for Electrical Union IBEW Local 3, for 20 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a former member of St. John's Catholic Church in Bergenfield, NJ and also a former commander of the Catholic War Veterans in Bergenfield, NJ.
He is survived by his wife; Dorothea (nee Walter); three sons; Vincent C., Jr. of Germantown, MD, Dr. Kevin J. of Brookfield, CT and Steven G. of Jacksonville, MD; a daughter, Donna A. Smith of Brick, NJ and also 5 grandchildren.

John Walter Kijek
John Walter Kijek, 82, of Bethel, Connecticut, died Wednesday at Mediplex of Danbury. He was the husband of Irene Mazza Kijek. He was born in Stamford, Connecticut June 21, 1916, a son of Joseph and Anna (Pulaski) Kijek. Mr. Kijek was a sergeant with the United States Army serving during World War II in the European Theater participating in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a self-employed painter and was a member of St. Mary's Church in Bethel.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Edward Kijek of Bethel, his daughter, MaryAnn Zotto of Bethel, 2 sisters, Jean Meyer of Stamford, Tessie Serafin of Pennsylvania, his grandson, Charles and several nieces and nephews.

Jane A. (Schriefer) Meurer
Jane A. (Schriefer) Meurer, 63, of 101 Hayestown Road, Danbury, formerly of Ridgefield, died April 7, 1999 at her home.
She was born on October 14, 1935 in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Robert and Sally Schriefer. She was employed as a relocation counselor for PHH Home Equity, which is now Cendand Corp. of Danbury, until her illness two years ago.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane Hewes of Danbury; two sons, Michael Meurer of Norwalk, Conn. and Scott Meurer of Wilton, Conn.; and two grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held on Monday, 4 p.m., at St. Stephen Episcopal Church, 351 Main St., Ridgefield, Conn.
