Genevieve Mohr

Genevieve Barbara Siskey Mohr, 94, of 33 Lincoln Ave., Danbury, formerly of Candlewood Isle, New Fairfield, died Wednesday at Pope John Paul Center for Health.

Mrs. Mohr was born on December 19, 1905, a daughter of the late Francisek and Marianna Siskey. She was raised in New Milford and was a parishioner of the Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Mohr was an avid gardener.

She is survived by a son, Edward J. Mohr of Danbury; three daughters, Barbara Charlotte Dascano of Hancock, N.Y., Carolyn J. Dohan of New Fairfield and Elizabeth Ann Ustie of Danbury; two sisters, Marjorie Siskey and Irene Kibbe both of Saxtons River, Vermont; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Pope John Paul Center for Health, 33 Lincoln Ave., Danbury, CT 06810 or to a charity of one's choice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 12 p.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield. Burial will take place in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery, New Milford.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Adele M. Farmer

Adele M. Farmer, 79, of 5 Hillcrest Road, Danbury, died on Tuesday February 8, 2000 at the New Milford Hospital.

Mrs. Farmer was born in Danbury, September 12, 1920, a daughter of the late Moses and Farfora (Nakly) Michael.

She attended St. Peter School, graduated from Danbury High School Class of 1938 and Good Counsel College, White Plains, N.Y.

In early years, Mrs. Farmer was associated in the family fur manufacturing business for hatting. In later years, she assumed the managing position of her family owned business properties which then led her to a long career as a real estate agent and broker and had owned and operated the Adele M. Farmer & Associates Real Estate Company of Danbury.

An avid bridge player, Mrs. Farmer enjoyed flower gardening as well.

She was a past president of St. Peter's Ladies Organization, a member of the Lebanon American Club Ladies Auxiliary where she served as a past president and a member of the scholarship committee. She was a member of the Greater Danbury Area Board of Realtors, the Danbury Gold Star Mother's Association and of St. Anthony's Maronite Church where she was a member of its Ladies Guild as well as past president, a member of the Parish Council and a member of the Finance Committee. Mrs. Farmer served on the annual church bazaar committee and was a past chairperson.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara F. Lutz of Newtown; two sons, David D. Farmer of Bridgewater and Peter S. Farmer of Danbury; a brother, Joseph F. Michael of Southbury; six grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Mrs. Farmer was also predeceased by a son, Corporal Michael Farmer. U.S.M.C., who died while serving in Vietnam.

The Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church, 18 Granville Avenue, Danbury.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

Friends will be received at St. Anthony's Church on Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Service of Incense will be offered at 7:30 p.m.

Contributions in Mrs. Farmer's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450.

Frank M. Orzeck

Frank M. Orzeck, 85, of 1701 Pentridge Cove, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, February 8, 2000 at the Williamsport Home.

He and his wife, the former Wanda J. Loganowicz, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on May 5th.

He retired from the former Scovill Manufacturing in New Milford where he worked as a crane operator.

He attended St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was a former member of St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford.

He was born November 24, 1914 in Shanedoah, Pa. He was a son of the late Anthony and Jadwiga Witkowski Orzeck.

Surviving besides his wife are one son, Francis Orzeck of Lancaster, Pa.; one daughter, Jeanne Reed of Williamsport, Pa.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Edward Orzeck of Roxbury; two sisters, Mary Chudada of New Milford and Clara Jesson of New Preston. He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Grustas.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Church, New Milford. Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in the spring.

Friends may call at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday.

Ralph Bouchard

Ralph Bouchard, a Danbury resident for the past 10 years, died February 5 at Danbury Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Gardner, Mass. on August 24, 1952, the son of Joseph and the late Mary (Fortier) Bouchard.

He is survived by his father who lives in Waterbury; his brothers, Joseph of Salem, N.Y., Norman J. of Wallkill, N.Y.; his sisters, Evan Schilling of Plainville, Lucille Johnson of Vallejo, Calif., Sandra D'Amico of Waterbury, Vt., Debbie McKusker of Auburndale, Fla.; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime friend Jackie Bermudez of Danbury.

A memorial service was held by his friends in Danbury and a family graveside service will be held in the spring.

Richard J. Flaig

Richard J. Flaig, 77, of 186 Keeler Road, Bridgewater, husband of the late Isabella (Iglesias) Flaig, died Wednesday at his home.

Mr. Flaig was born in New York City July 29, 1922, a son of the late Carl and Theodora (Von Lintig) Flaig.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army; had attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was employed as a photo engraver at Intaglio Services of New York City before his retirement.

He had moved to Bridgewater in 1979. He was a veteran member of the Albertson Volunteer Fire Department in Albertson, N.Y. He was also a member of the Bridgewater Congregational Church.

He is survived by a son, Ronald R. Flaig of Rotonda West Florida; and one daughter, Christine Hora of Bridgewater; four grandchildren.

A private service will be held for the immediate family.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Burnham Library, Main Street, Bridgewater, CT 06752.

Edward Markel

Edward Markel, age 89, of Somers, N.Y., formerly of Brewster, N.Y., died Wednesday, February 9, 2000 in Mt. Kisco, N.Y.

Mr. Markel, who was born November 9, 1910 in New York, N.Y., has been married to Ann Larkin of Somers, N.Y. since 1931.

Mr. Markel was the City Editor of the New York Daily Mirror for whom he had worked for 30 years before retiring in November, 1963. He was a former trustee for the Manhattan Savings Bank and a member of the board of directors of the Madison Square Boys Club in Manhattan. Mr. Markel had lived in Somers, N.Y. for more than 10 years and Brewster, N.Y. for close to 40 years prior.

Besides his wife, Mr. Markel is survived by three sons, Howard B. Markel of Cumming, Ga., Gregory A. Markel of Manhattan and Dennis Markel of Danbury; a daughter, Barbara Durand of Danbury; 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mr. Markel was predeceased by a son, John E. Markel in 1951.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 12, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Brewster, N.Y. Interment will be at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Brewster, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Markel's memory may be made to the Madison Square Boys Club or the John E. Markel Park. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, N.Y.

Simon D. McInerney

Simon D. McInerney, 57, of Old Town Park Road, New Milford, died at the New Milford Hospital on Tuesday, after being stricken ill at his home.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., July 16, 1942, son of the late Thomas M. and Kathleen A. (Mannix) McInerney. He was a graduate of St. Francis Prep School in Bidderford, Maine and had attended Boston College. He served with the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was a graduate of the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Calif. He had worked in the soft drink industry for more than 25 years and recently retired from the Cadbury-Schweppes Beverage Company as Vice President of Sales. He had moved to Danbury in 1970 and had been an area resident ever since.

Mr. McInerney is survived by a daughter, Sarah Deirdre McInerney of New Milford; a brother, Thomas P. McInerney of Ridgefield; a sister, Mary M. Skelton of Port Washington, N.Y.; his companion, Brook Love of New Milford; a niece, Monica M. Honeyford; five nephews, Noel Skelton, Thomas, Teddy, Todd and Timothy McInerney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church, Danbury on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Friday evening from 4 to 8 p.m.

Contributions may be made to a charity to be named.

Charles V. Savarese

Charles V. Savarese, 78, husband of Patricia (Cloutier) Savarese, of Jefferson Ave., Danbury, died at the Danbury Hospital on Wednesday morning.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York, September 30, 1921, son of the late Raphael and Clara (Jurgensen) Savarese. Mr. Savarese has served with the US Army in the European Theater during World War II and had lived in Brooklyn most of his life, prior to moving to Danbury in 1977. He had worked as a bus driver in Brooklyn for the New York Transit Authority. After moving to Danbury, he worked as a school bus driver for the Laidlaw Bus Company. Mr. Savarese was a member of St. Peter Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Savarese is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Karl Schmidt of Danbury and Carol and Marty Crusat of Kona, Hawaii; two brothers, Ray Savarese of Hackensack, N.J. and Vincent Savarese of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Emma Ulricksen of Santa Ana, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Kristin Schmidt and Charene, Justin and Kevin Crusat and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church, Danbury on Monday morning at 10:30. Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Thomas Hay Caldwell Jr.

Thomas Hay Caldwell Jr., 90, of Lake Place North, Danbury, died Wednesday morning at his home. He was the husband of the late Florence (Carew) Caldwell.

Mr. Caldwell was born August 29, 1909 in New York City, a son of the late Thomas and Agnes Laidlaw Caldwell, Scottish immigrants. He attended school in Manhattan and Edmonton, Alberta. He served an apprenticeship to become a journeyman plasterer. He was a member of the Plasterers' Union, Local 60 in New York City.

Mr. Caldwell was a lifelong member of the Masonic Mariners' Lodge 67 F.A.M. in New York City. A resident of Pelham, N.Y. for over 62 years, he was predeceased by his wife of 58 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Dekker of Sparta, N.J., Jean Komar of Danbury, with whom he made his home and Mary Willner of Randolph, N.J.; two sisters, Margaret Lantry of Bethel and Irene Mackin of Ridgefield; five grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. at the convenience of the family.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kane Funeral Home, 41 Catoonah St., Ridgefield.

Contributions in Mr. Caldwell's memory may be made to the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association, 90 East Ridge, Ridgefield, CT 06877.

Richard F. Shanahan

Richard F. Shanahan, age 78, husband of Sheila (Courtney) Shanahan of 26 Appleblossom Lane, Newtown died Thursday, February 10, 2000 at the Danbury Hospital.

He was born in County Tipperary, Ireland February 8, 1922, son of the late Michael and Minifred (Houlihan) Shanahan. He attended schools in Ireland and graduated from engineering college in Ireland. During World War II, he served in the Irish Army.

He came to the United States and Newtown in 1960, and was employed by IBM in Fishkill, N.Y. as an electrical engineer, until his retirement in 1987.

Mr. Shanahan was Past Vice-president of the Danbury Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He is a Communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown. An avid reader and author, he had just published a book entitled "Across the Bridge".

He is survived besides his wife by three sons, Michael Shanahan of Woodbury, Sean Shanahan of Litchfield and Terrence Shanahan of New Milford, an officer in the Danbury Police Department; three daughters, Maureen Tremarzo of Pawling, N.Y., Sheila Mapes of Poughquag, N.Y. and Patricia Fonseca of Naugatuck; also survived by two brothers, Patrick Shanahan of East Meadow, N.Y. and John Shanahan of New York City. He has three sisters living in Ireland; also eleven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 14, 2000 9:30 a.m. from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial at St. Rose Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Mary A. Wrenn

Mary A. Wrenn, former vice president and managing director of Merrill Lynch, died Thursday, February 10, 2000 in her home in Easton, Conn., following a long illness. She was 74 years old.

Miss Wrenn was a longtime resident of Greenwich, Conn. and New York City before moving to Easton five years ago. Born in Danbury, Conn., Miss Wrenn was the daughter of the late Delia Kelley Wrenn and Andrew Wrenn.

She was an accomplished businesswoman who was said to have forged new paths for women in the male dominated investment banking business. She was elected the first woman vice President of any worldwide investment firm in 1967 and the first woman Managing Director of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in 1978.

Miss Wrenn was a magna cum laude graduate of Albertus Magnus College, New Haven, Conn. and received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from that college in 1977. She also held graduate degrees in Economics and Banking and Finance from New York University.

Miss Wrenn was predeceased by her brother, William A. Wrenn and her two sisters, Joan D. Wrenn and Elizabeth Wrenn Richter. She is survived by four nieces, Catherine Wrenn Gombos of Easton, Conn., Patricia Wrenn Murphy of Redding, Conn., Elizabeth Wrenn Adams of Plano, Texas, and Mary Wrenn Cordeiro of Bristol, R.I., two nephews, Kevin P. Wrenn of Boston, Mass., and Christopher W. Wrenn of Monroe, Conn. She also leaves behind 12 great nephews and nieces.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 15, 2000 at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame of Easton Church, Morehouse Road, Easton, Conn. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury, Conn. Friends may call on Monday, February 14, 2000 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lesko-Miner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., (Route 25) Monroe, Conn.
